Now they're telling me to file a claim with postal services when it's crystal clear the books were not damaged in transit (no damage to relevant section of comic mailer and only 3 of the 6 were damaged even though packaged together). When I started using them they were great. Amazing value, quick shipping & merchandise came as described, but the last few orders I have made haven't even shipped yet & most are still showing "pre-shipping". Since sometimes the books are on back order or not out yet that isn't a biggie for me, HOWEVER there are two orders of "mystery books" which are showing "in stock" and "on the way", one of which has been in that status for an ENTIRE 7 DAY WEEK, but which is saying only "label created. USPS waiting on package drop off" when you click on the tracking label. *Update* I just wanted to share that I finally received those two mystery packs this week (almost 2 weeks after I wrote the review). They were all in great shape as usual which is always a plus. I now only have one order I am waiting on which I ordered April 15. I emailed them to ask about it and was told they are working on the March orders this week & next before getting to the April orders. So I am guessing by the end of the month I should have that one. So, in conclusion, They are a good company with great books, but you have to pay attention to the dates that the books are due out & if they are in back order or not before ordering unless you are prepared to be in for a long wait (The email I received from them said they still have 60 orders from DECEMBER to send out). *End of Update* THOSE are the reason why I had to say maybe on recommending this company. It doesn't help their case that I have called the number TWICE this week WITHIN the 8-5 CENTRAL time that their message says they are open only to get a message saying I am calling outside those hours and need to leave a message, which I can't because the mailbox is full. read more

Liars & Cheats. Had a bad experience with them a few years ago, but thought since time had passed maybe they were different. NOT! They had a sale, I got 15 comics, but when they arrived, all but 2 had severe corner damage. The corners were crushed and the crushing went through the entire comic. Even the backing boards were crushed. When I sent them pictures of this, they said the damage was post office caused. The box showed minimal, rather typical damage and the comics were surrounded by 2" of styrofoam peanuts on all sides. They said the box had a bent corner that caused the damage, and yes, there was a small crush to a corner, but they couldn't explain how the comics could have been right under that corner to be crushed and then end up in the middle of the box surrounded by peanuts. The comics, with backing boards, were an inch and a half thick. Lots of pressure needed to bend all of them. The box didn't have that kind of damage. Nor could they explain how comics in the middle of the stack had more damage than those on the outer sides. Several years ago they sold me a comic they swore was 9.2 at the very least. I sent it to be graded and it came back an 8.5. Their response, "Too bad". Crooks and liars are really not strong enough to describe these people. They give the comic community a bad name. read more

Can't fulfill orders in timely manners, send damaged goods to the point where I have to film my unboxing of orders, and still not refunded with proof of screw ups. I really don't like to leave bad reviews and I gave them ample time to rectify my problem but it just hasn't happened. I ordered a comic from them on September 12 2022. This was a Peach Momoko Star Wars cover CGC graded 9.8. This was a preorder and I was very excited to get this. The cover was released in October then should have been sent to CGC following its release. After about 6 weeks I started to wonder where my book was. I started emailing and they always had an excuse. The latest excuse was that CGC is backed up. I personally have sent in my own books and received them back and this same book graded is available on EBay already. I am tired of excuses and now I just want my money back or my book. I hope they read this and reply but I really hope they just take care of their business. read more

They took over 15 months to fulfill my order and when it didn't reach me they refused to refund my money or resend the items unless I paid for postage again. The staff doesn't do any investigation when things go wrong and try to blame you as they can no longer claim a refund due to the time it took them to follow it up. That's not the customer's fault. I really want to like this place. The store is nice -- large, clean area and they have a good location near the mall. But for a store with 'comics' in the name there's not many in the store. New issues and back issues both seem to be very light in supply. This wasn't always the case with new issues because they used to have a good stock of titles every week but over time that seems to have dwindled. One of their employees told me that they bring a lot of their back issue stock with them to shows. I can tell as they are cleaned out as of Spring 2023 when a lot of conventions are going on. They do have a selection of variant cover comics. (Used to be an entire wall full of them but not so now). The rest of the store has trade paperbacks (tons), POPs, and a couple aisles of games. Also a small section of collector supplies and some action figures. But half the store is blocked off and they are using the space for something else. Storage for orders? Tables for gaming? It doesn't make sense to me that they wouldn't fill it with more merchandise. For a store this size it still seems sparse. I believe they need to add more products such as a LOT more back issues, graded books, apparel, manga, more cards, more toys, etc. Note that they also have an extensive online store where you can preorder new comics and variants. However, if you're looking for them to arrive in mint condition you won't like seeing the inevitable spine ticks and damage some of them naturally incur. I have received books I've ordered and they weren't in as nice of condition as I would've liked. So before you order make sure you read their return policy info. (The website is excellent - I will add that as a positive.) Finally the employees could be more friendly. I've been in the store several times and they seem indifferent towards customers. Maybe they are just introverts or maybe it's just me. Overall I'm rating this store as average but I hope it will become much better. read more

I sold him my approximately 12,000 comic book collection this collection was Amazing Fantasy 15, X-Men 1, Avengers 1, X-Men 1, Journey into Mystery, Daredevil 1, Justice League ( silver ilver age) SpWn, Fantatic 4, #2, Aquaman 1.Most of th!e above had runs up to 50 or more. These were CGC graded. Darren was totally cordial, chummy. But when he got what he wanted his demeanor changed. He had agreed to throw in a statue and offered some other niceities. Disclosure: My experience with them is online only. This may be a great comic store in person. How this company is even allowed to produce exclusive variants using Marvel's name is beyond me. You'd think there is some sort of minimum standard they must meet. This company does not know how to do customer service at all. I can confirm some of the previous issues with other reviews. Received 2 orders with the mylar/top loader option (which you pay more for). First-order arrived but was missing the mylar/top loaders and 1 book was damaged (looked like it had been dropped on its corner at some point). Reported this and was asked to send photos. Firstly, asking for photos for missing mylars/top loaders will do exactly what though? I did also provide photos for the book damage. Got the standard response then complete silence. Not even a "there's nothing they can do" or explaining the process I should follow (i.e. sending it back or any type of suggestions). Nothing. Did a couple of followups. Nothing. Second-order comes in and I confirm these have the mylar/top loaders as it was supposed to. However, I also saw this in another review, they tape the top loaders together so you'll get a couple of top loaders that will end up with sticky tape on it. How and why a professional comic book business does this is beyond me. There are sellers on eBay that do a better job at shipping books. I'm now in the process of inquiring more info about this company through the online comic book community. Did feel this company had so much potential as I did like their selection of books. Strange that they would compromise future business for such small issues. In my case, missing mylars/top loaders and a damaged book (total cost was probably $25 or so) and not so much what they could or couldn't do for me in this situation but the fact that their customer service is particularly bad. Poor communication and even going silent is pretty much a deal-breaker for me. Unfortunately, I am still stuck with a pre-order already paid for. Will see in the next couple of weeks if they operate in the up and up way (meaning fulfilling the order properly and correctly without damaged stock and fulfilling promptly) or if there are shenanigans on their end. At least payment was through Paypal so I do have some buyer protections. Will probably never do business with them again, basically all because they chose not to communicate. For an international collector this is probably the worst place to buy comics. Customer service is non-existent, duties are not calculated nor information is given about them. I paid €32.95 for First Class Package International, another €1.95 for Route Package Protection and I had to add €41 to collect the package. Slow, unprofessional, now ridiculous prices for incentives and variants, after 15 years as collector i still have these online comic shops changing the whole sector for the worse. read more

Return policy is horrible. I have received several damaged books. My most recent order - 3 books damaged. One had a crushed spine. One has color-breaking spine ticks and color rub. One has several color breaking ticks and color breaks all along the spine. CGC standard would consider these books VF 8.0 to 8.5. The person who handled my request for replacement books cited Unknown's standard for a 9.2 which is not the same as the industry standard. I will not order from this company again, which is a shame because I have spent hundreds of dollars with them and have enjoyed their Whatnot streams and hosts. My experience is on par with the other reviews. While I can't comment on their in-store business operations, I can say that their online business operations are about the worst I've experienced. After placing a couple of recent online orders with Unknown Comics, this is my experience: A regular order (not an order waiting for new releases) placed 6 weeks ago still has not yet shipped. A separate pre-order (for future new releases) still has not yet shipped despite the last release date being 3 weeks ago. Their "customer service" department is extremely unhelpful and rude. I sent several emails inquiring about the status of my orders but received no answer. When I sent a message on Facebook, the response I got back was a half-answer and basically consisted of "we'll ship your orders when we get to it." I'll likely have to submit a chargeback to my credit card company since it appears unlikely I'll receive any of my orders. I would advise potential shoppers to stay away for the time being. read more

I've spent $200 in comics on this store. I received a variant the other day and it had a long indentation down the middle of it, as if someone set a box on it and left it there. Surely, this was an accident. So, I contacted them. I gave them several options. I could spend another $100 on comics and they could throw in an unblemished copy (which they had in stock). Maybe they could give me some kind of partial credit and I could destroy this obviously flawed copy on video. I was up for creative solutions. I sent them video of the huge indentation. No. They doubled down and sent me the policy that shows that the copy was perfectly fine because it only had to be "relatively flat" under their policy. There was no apology. I asked to speak to a manager. They ignored me. They sent me this flawed copy on purpose! To fix it, they told me to put a heavy book on top of it, which is an insane solution. Really, it needs a good pressing, which costs $20 at best. (Not realistic for a $10 comic!). Listen, I don't expect perfect copies. I have received other issues with soft corners and obviously not a 9.8. But they don't guarantee a 9.8. But they had the audacity to say this should be good enough for me. They DID offer to have me send it back to them -- at my own expense. A shipping cost in excess of $5 for a $10 comic. And they wouldn't offer to replace it (because, of course, that would mean they would have to pay shipping back to me). So, here we are arguing about a $10 comic. Based on other reviews here, I doubt I would have even gotten the refund back. And If I sent it back, you, dear reader, might be stuck with it so I still have it. I regret ever doing business with this shop. I regret not doing due diligence before shopping with them. Please don't make my mistake. Avoid them. They don't deserve your business. They act like spoiled brats like we owe them. read more

I've ordered hundreds in comics from this company, and they are losing me over a $20 order, and the most abysmally awful customer service. Here's the long story short: Placed an order as usual, accidentally chose local pickup instead of shipping. Granted every other order was shipping, so someone thinking would have caught it... that didn't happen. No big deal though, it was my fault. Several weeks after the order should have received I contacted them. They messaged me back, and after weeks of delay said I owed shipping. I agreed and just needed a way to pay, never received the invoice they said they would send, and weeks passed with no response. Reached out again, and they said they were just going to send them. Awesome! Didn't expect that, and was happy to pay for shipping, but after the delays I'm happy to hear they are getting it resolved! If only... Months pass, no books. Reached out, finally get a response, they say they are sending them. In the last message, I misquoted the order number (even though it had been given to them multiple times before) and they shipped the wrong order, one valued over $100. I informed them of the error, and asked if they wanted me to send them back, which I did, on my dime. Weeks pass after returning the books (with a note apologizing for the situation) no response...no correct order showed up... Reach out again, and they tell me I need to pay for shipping. Fine send me the invoice. Another message, they are just going to send them... Ummm okay, than send them? Another message, they want me to pay shipping.... now I'm like wait a damned minute! I paid for the books, I paid to return your inventory, now you want me to pay again after multiple promises to just send them? I say I want the money I paid for shipping their books to them back them. Not unreasonable, at this point, who knows if I will get them even after shelling out for the third time... it has been over a year, and they marked the order as fulfilled on my account in one of their previous failed attempts to resolve it. I get back a canned response, that they are looking into it, than another they are getting my order ready... Than over a week later, another canned response for an invoice for $10.... All in all, it's been over a year, still no comics, no refund on my order, no refund for the shipping I paid for sending me the wrong order. Are you serious? Most ridiculous customer service experience ever... No apologies, no even doing what they themselves said they would do multiple times. Who conducts themselves like this? read more

I'm cautiously optimistic about these guys. I've spent literally hundreds of dollars with them and had two bad experiences: 1. Ordered a "limited run issue, we're pulling the book for sale after 24 hours" comic. They said it ended up selling less than 300 copies. Great I thought, until I see them list it again for sale the following month. What's the point of the first sale then? 2. Bought a high priced variant only to see the price drop $30 within 3 days. I contacted them and they offered a refund but grudgingly. Even with these issues I'll still buy from them because of their exclusives. They're just not my primary source. Update: I received the books and they were of course damaged. I could tell they didn't believe me of the damage and wanted photos. Only plus side is that they are shipping new ones out. If these arrive damaged I'm just going to cut my loses and accept that I wasn't meant to have undenied copy of this book in a timely manner. ----------------------------------------------- I haven't received my books yet but ordered them a month ago. It's an exclusive variant that was solicited to be released 8/8 as an exclusive variant to their store. I have reached out multiple times through multiple channels and have received zero response. This is inexcusable customer service for any business. I understand delays but you can communicate these delays easily. Not just ignore your customers and spam me with 6 emails a day on more variants. Hopefully books arrive in good condition or I'll be updating this post. read more
