Just left this ridiculous store. My dog had a grooming appointment today, booked a month in advance, confirmed two weeks in advance. My huge mistake, according to the rude grooming lady, Espy, was to show up earlier. She looked at me and said in a passive aggressive attitude that she couldn't take my dog because she had to go to lunch. I pointed out that she could have said that same thing in a polite way and I would have returned when my appointment was supposed to start. Instead, because of her attitude, I didn't feel comfortable leaving my dog with her. She might be tired and stressed out for her workload (I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt), but still there is no excuse for her behavior. Talked to her manager who apparently didn't care either. Realized that after two years coming to this store for classes, grooming and pet shopping, I'll find another pet store that actually cares about their customers. read more

Used the dog wash , half the area was not clean and ready for use. The dog shampoo is watered down and the next day an offense odorless. The have no blow dries but did provide two very thin towels (one bath and one hand sized). There whet two clerks but both to had a what ever atttiude. We have used unleaded on a number of other towns as we travel and this was the absolute worst one !!! read more

To me this is as good as it gets, so i give it the 5 stars. I bring my two dogs here, but only bathe one since the other is small enough to fit in the tub at home. but they do have little carts where I put my smaller pup to wait next to me while I bathe his brother. the tubs are pretty big and have space left over for my dog to move. they provide us with shampoo (a little too watered down but we bring our own shampoo anyways.) they give you conditioner, brushes, aprons, and towels. they provide more towels if needed at no extra charge and cotton balls if you need some for your pups ears. they do a lot of services for shelters and the community I personally love this place. I would love it if they opened one closer down south and I am sure they would get packed, no pun intended. read more

We love going to unleashed to get our dogs washed. We've been to several different locations, but this one didn't have a dryer! The reason for the three stars is because unfortunately, unlike the other reviews about the staff, we didn't have a good experience. My boyfriend and I heard an employee (she was working the cashier and cleaning the wash area) say "I f*cking hate being here" after she cleaned the wash area. Then afterwards one of our dogs jumped on the bench and I heard her say "oh my f*cking god". I wish I got her name, but she had glasses and short hair. If you don't like working somewhere, why even work there? However, the other girl that was working the area in front of the groomers was extremely helpful and nice. We will still support Unleashed because the services they offer are great, but we'll probably go to a different location. read more

This was going to be a 1 star review but crista saved the day! Couple weeks backs we made an appointment to get our Akita groomed just to get a call a couple hours later saying how it couldn't be done and how she was being extremely difficult which seemed very out of character for her. So we made an appointment with another groomer and the lovely Crista helped us out. She was super upbeat and happy and vibed really well with our dog. ESPY -- my goodness what can we say I will make sure this is elaborated. HORRIBLE SERVIE FROM her and the main manager of the store PETCO needs to make sure they are checking in on their employees. First we took our pet in ad ESPY called me while I was at work saying "you need to pick up your dog NOW your boyfriend or husband said he'd be here and hes not here yet --" first of all introduce yourself when calling someone I had no idea who this was... and why she was calling.. and the fact that she was passive aggressive towards me and my dog and husband says a lot. Got off work early today so we took a trip to Unleashed by the recommendation of a coworker. AWESOME PLACE! It's smaller than our local Petco, less of a warehouse feel. The items they have are more unique (but you'll find everything else you need there as well). Staff described it more like a boutique than a store, this is accurate! Their selection of organic and natural items (treats, food, dental care) is much more impressive than its base counterpart. We picked up some frozen treats and a pig ear for decent pricing. Also great sales! Just picked up a waterproof car blanket for 3 dollars!!!!! But the highlight has to be the staff! You can tell they love the animals and they are so kind and helpful. Their playful attitude really put my dog at ease. (May also make you want to purchase more, prepare your wallet accordingly!!) Will definitely be bringing Leia back to see "auntie" Lee Ann, Beth, and Cecilia real soon! I've been eyeing their spa services...hehe. read more

Josh in the grooming department is AMAZING!! Our dog won't even let us brush him, but he lets Josh do wonders on him. Josh is the most caring groomer I have ever met. He always makes sure to say goodbye to our baby, Dublin, and shows how much he cares for each pup he grooms. I recommend him to everyone!! You can tell he really enjoys his job and does his best to make your pup look amazing. He knows what he is talking about and it shows in his work. Dublin always walks out prancing after he gets groom and is happy. Side note for when you don't want to get your dog groomed but they need a bath, the $10 self bath stations are awesome! You don't have to bring anything but your dog. It makes it easy so you don't have to lean over a tub to bathe your dog. Also you don't have to worry about clogging your drain! We love this store and everything it has to offer. The store itself is very clean and tidy and has great products to offer everyone for every time type of dog or cat. Need one of the best groomers in San Diego?!? GO SEE JOSH! No seriously he is THE best I have ever found. My dog can be quite picky when it comes to grooming, he won't let me brush him and he hate it when he gets a bath but when he see's josh he just melts and turns into the sweetest pup. I've been taking my dog to josh for ruffly 3 years now and if I wasn't moving out of state I would keep going! His hair cut comes out the exactly the same every time and I have never had a issue with one stray hair after he has been groomed. I recommend him to everyone that's looking for a groomer. My mother in law took her three small dogs to get groomed. They've been there before, and she called to make an appointment. My mother in law was told to to make sure the dogs had rabies shots. She got the dogs shots and took the dogs in for the appointment. The worker, a young female, was very rude to my mother in law with no professionalism. She told my mil that she will not take the dogs in because one of them had a medical condition. My mil asked why they didn't let her know over the phone. I am glad I decided to stop by Unleashed. $15 for self wash with unlimited shampoo and conditioner, brushes and towels all ready next to the tub. Hook up for the dog so he cannot jump out. This place will always amaze me! I had to get my doggies a haircut, now living in La Mesa I called every Petco/Unleashed in the surrounding areas- Petco was booked until later in the week I couldn't do that my schedule is busy. Unleashed over here hAd no grooming in La Mesa and Spring Valley just self wash. Soo I called over to the Chula Vista branch to see if our good friend Josh is available. Thank god he was! He remembers my dog Bulbasaur and hasn't seen us for a yr and yet to meet our new addition- Dot-Dot. So booked an appt with him! Got to the store and he saw us and greeted the doggies right away. i love Joshs' customer service he makes you feel at ease and trusting because he's practically taking care of your fur baby! All the associates are nice here! Appt was 9am and he said he will call to lmk when they're ready to get picked up and it would take about 3-6hrs. Around 12:30 I got a call and they were done! Got to the store and y babies are nice amd shaved, the way I wanted it not too bald and not too hairy! Nails are perfect everything was great! I love it! I recommend Josh for grooming. He's really good at his job and so friendly! I will make the drive from La Mesa to Chula Vista now just to bring my babies here for grooming! read more

This review on the their positive training classes is long overdue! Mochi's on his second class with Rachelle and the sit, down, wait, and stay commands that he learned during Puppy level 2 have been so helpful! My little guy is going through his "teen phase" and has been testing limits the past few weeks, but with Rachelle's help, Mochi's behavior has improved so much. While we work on the week's lesson, she also tries to incorporate strategies that address my concerns (i.e. behaviors on walks). Just a quick PSA though, a dog's success in training doesn't rely solely on classes and the teacher. It's important the owner (or paw-rents) stay consistent with the training and in different environments. If you aren't practicing the skills outside of class, don't expect some miraculous change to occur. Sorry, I went into my teacher mode there lol. Anywho, after almost 3 months of sessions with Rachelle, I've learned so many lessons that have not only improved my puppy's behavior but also strengthened our bond. She's an awesome teacher and an equally amazing person who really cares about her clients and their furbabies. read more

First time going here, because I just got a new puppy. Had no idea what to buy for the little pup when it came to food, toys, etc. The lady that worked there had a lot of experience and helped me and my girlfriend narrow down our food choices for little Kiko. She also shared her experiences with her own dog, so it just gave her more credibility. Ended up buying some quality cans of food and a small dog toy. I have given the benefit of the doubt to this store and it's employees over and over again. This weekend was the last straw. I'm not sure what's in the water at this store but the staff members are so incredibly rude and absolutely let you know they don't want you there. They are curt in responses and sarcastic if you don't push the right buttons the first time. It was such an overwhelming negative feeling that I walked out knowing I wasn't welcome and I was definitely never coming back. Usually this kind of behavior from employees is directly related to how they're being managed. I spent the last dollar there that they will ever seen from me. read more

We recently became a dog owner almost 3 weeks ago. We've been to this Unleashed location twice now to use their self-service pet wash area. For $12, you can bring your pet in and they have I believe 5 tub stations, complete with shampoo, conditioner, towels, and aprons to help you bathe your dog or cat. They also have a riser platform for smaller/shorter pets and a wash lead you can use to better secure your pet without needing to wet your pet's collar & lead while you bathe your pet. The wash area is very well kept, they're sanitized, restocked, and prepped for the next pet. The staff have all been very friendly, and will assist in getting your tub ready while you prepay for your wash. There's benches where you can sit while drying off your pet before leaving the pet washing area. If the pet wash stations are busy, you can browse about the store waiting for your wash station to clear. We bring our own shampoo and towels but you're more than welcome to use Unleashed's provided wash products & towels. This is by far the best feature Unleashed has to offer! read more

Some of their improvements over the regular Petcos... *dog washing stations *"doggy lounge" - seating area & place for your dog to play in. *Freezer w/ an assortment of raw foods, gourmet refrigerated food & frozen treats for your pup. The place is overall smaller than the regular Petco stores. They basically have the same assortment of foods & treats that the regular Petcos have. They also offer grooming services & have a separate "help desk" for the grooming services & washing stations. The grooming services are listed behind the desk, but no mention of prices. I asked the guy at the "help desk" about grooming services prices & all he could tell me was "it depends but these are the services that we offer"....pointing to the board....OK, I thought, I'm not blind & answer my question! So, I ask him "on what?" He starts telling me that it depends on the type of dog & if the dog is a good or bad dog...OK. Still no mention of prices & all dogs are good dogs right? Anyways, any other grooming place gives me a price & all they need to know is the type of dog...that is it, no other questions asked. And as far as the grooming goes it depends on the size of the dog (duh!) and for my English bully (pictured) it's $25. This is an awesome place to go to for pet supplies, grooming (whether it be self wash stations or the staff that groom your puppies), and just friendly and knowledgeable staff. We first came to this location to use the self wash stations to wash our puppy and purchase foodies and supplies. The people that work here are very friendly and helpful. The wash went by pretty well and our puppy got to go around and look at all the stuff that we would be purchasing for them. When we went to the register to pay, the lady there was super friendly and also gave us puppy treats that they have on hand when your fur babies are with you. On all of the other occasions that we have visited this location the staff have been nothing but nice and have walked around the store to help us with our purchases. We have never felt pressured to purchase anything higher end. The staff listen to what we are looking for and they try to fit products to our fur baby's needs. The store has always seemed well stocked and is clean and have wide isle to maneuver through. I would highly recommend coming to this location for friendly and knowledgeable staff, convenience and the services provided. read more

Review on Store-- I was surprised that getting to the Self Washing area was difficult. They were holding some kind of puppy training in front of the area, which seemed like a terrible place to hold it on a Saturday afternoon. Review on the Self Washing--- Mom and I brought our German Shepard here a couple weeks ago. Like most of you I thought it would be better than having to clean my whole bathroom afterward. Everything was all good till we got to the end... She literally soaks up water. I was hoping that there would be a blow dryer available to dry her off, but No. *Apparently at this location they don't provide blow dryers. We dried her off as much as possible with the towels provided and then put her drippy butt back into the car and dried her at home. They did provide: Alright customer service, tub, hand sprayer, shampoo, conditioner, combs, brushes & towels but.... Personally I don't find it worth the trip it if she's not good-to-go when we leave. I'll continue to wash our girl at home. read more

The grooming staff here are ignorant. We scheduled an appointment on 09-19-2020 for 4:30pm that evening for our two pups. When we get there we are greeted then asked for updated vaccine records for our two Yorkie terriers, whom got vaccinated on the same dates. The first employee I spoke to, told me she will not be able to accept one vaccine record because the reminder date was not up to date ... One reminder for our one pup was set for 07/17/2020 and the other was 04/14/2020 and they both got vaccinated on 07/28/2020. Mind you, they said they will accept the first pup because the reminder date is updated and the second pups is not. We stood there and wasted 30 minutes of our lives trying to get these idiots to understand that we got the dogs shot late but she is still updated on the vaccine. No matter how detailed we tried to break it down so they could comprehend and they still didn't understand but offered to continue with the grooming and I realized how ignorant they were so we left. read more

I love coming here to wash my Shiba Inu. He sheds like crazy so it's nice to be able to bathe him myself in a tub that's not in our home - it makes clean up so easy! The price is unbeatable and the process is so easy - you go to the register to pay and then head to an open tub. They provide an apron for the washer, a brush, shampoo and conditioner. I don't use the shampoo as our pup has his own that we bring so I'm not sure of the quality of it but I do use the conditioner and it works well. They provide towels but they are so thin I usually end up using at least 2-3. They don't have blow dryers but that doesn't matter to us. I would recommend that they wash the aprons every once in a while because they all smell like musty mildew. read more
