It had been awhile since I'd locked my keys anywhere, however, early tonight was the night. I'd been working on cleaning out my parents' home. I was tired. I knew the moment I shut my car door that I had locked my keys in the car. So, I climbed on Yelp and began checking out options. I saw Unlock Indy and the mostly positive reviews. I read the reviews including one from Dani, a fellow Yelp Elite whose vibes I generally trust. I called. Quick pick-up. Pretty casual. He was going to text me and I would text back the address. He did very quickly and I texted back. He said he'd be by in about 15-20 minutes. He made it in right about 20 minutes. I'd figured it would be a quick job and it was a quick job. He got in my car, saw the keys, and we were good to go. We had a fair price, not really a great price but a fair one, and he was able to accept cash, credit card, Venmo, or CashApp. I was having trouble getting into my Venmo (you could tell credit card was a bit more of a hassle, but we decided to go that route). He used Square and I got a text receipt confirming my payment. As much as I always hate to spend a decent amount for such an easy job, the truth is he couldn't have been much better. He arrived on time, got the job done, charged a fair price, was friendly, and the problem was ultimately solved. So yeah, I would definitely use again. read more

Walked out of my condo Saturday evening, realized I forgot my phone, entered my door code and was denied! Whomp, whomp... My key pad malfunctioned, none of my codes worked, I was unable to override it and didn't have a cell phone, ugh... Drove to a friends, googled 24- hour locksmith and Unlock Indy was the winner being the first 5-star review that popped up. A guy(don't remember his name, wasn't on the receipt) answered after two rings, and was able to meet me in 10-min! Yay! Once he arrived, he assessed the situation, tried the codes again, a battery recharge(just in case), and ultimately had to drill through the lock to unlock it. It took awhile(understandably, he was drilling through metal), when he finished there were metal shavings all over the floor(again, this is to be expected), and he asked for a vacuum to clean up - very thoughtful. Excellent - would HIGHLY recommend. In our front door, a key broke and half of it remained in the lock, plus the inside gear was bent. Even though we had a more complex case, the technician agreed to assist. He was finishing up one job and could be at our house in 20 minutes. The technician did a great job and was very professional. He initially quoted us $75-$100 for a key extraction and still honored the price even though we ended up having a more complex problem. Ultimately, I choose him because after calling a few other business listed on Yelp, he was the only one who asked additional questions and was actually friendly on the phone. If you can and are not in a dire emergency, call different locksmiths and ask for quotes. Many companies will bait and switch you. They'll tell you $30-40 on the phone but then will jack the price up and try to confuse the consumer. Or just do a really poor job. We have company in town and have a cookout planned. Someone unwittingly locked the wrong lock upon exit and we were left without an entry to the house. So today I locked myself out of the house and called one of the first locksmiths I found on google. I called Unlock Indy LLC. The man who answered didn't identify himself but only answered and said the name of the company. I told him I was locked out and he said it would be about 30-40 minutes and the fee was $120, I agreed. As I'm waiting for him I'm still attempting to get in my home and was finally able to get the door open. I called the company back and told him I didn't need his service and he said it would be $65. I said for what? He began yelling saying gas was high and he had turned down two jobs to come help me (neither are my problem), and I explain how he didn't come help me and hadn't even made it to my home. He then asks what is a fair price and I said zero because he didn't assist me (mind you I would have paid him something but he was yelling at me). He then yells at the top of his lungs calling me a stupid cunt and says that's why I hate niggers. Then calls me a stupid nigger and hangs up.... So due to me not knowing if he is the owner or an employee/contractor I didn't call back. However if you're ever in need of a locksmith please know that Unlock Indy LLC hates niggers. I will always use and/or recommend Unlock Indy for locksmith services. I arrived home late one evening after a full day of delayed flights, absolutely exhausted, and found that I'd locked myself out. With it being near midnight, I knew it'd be tough to get someone out as an "emergency service". But I called one "24/7" company, and after waiting over an hour called back only to find out they "forgot" to call and let me know nobody was available. Can't compliment this business more. I was in the middle of moving things from North Carolina to illinois and stopped in Indianapolis overnight. In the morning, my combination master lock would not unlock for some reason and I found the website for Unlock Indy at 8am. I tried to call initially but it went to voicemail so I texted the phone number on the site to ask for a quote. He got back to me within 10 minutes and asked for clarification on the kind of lock. I texted him back a photo and told him I'd meet him. He gave me a quote on the spot, I met him at the address he specified. He was running 5 minutes behind from his prior job and he even texted me to update me so I wasnt left wondering. The location in Broad Ripple was safe and he was courteous, professional and efficient. He broke the lock off as agreed and I paid a very reasonable price.
