I was referred by my GP to deal with acute sciatic pain. Dr. Virecudden saw me very briefly,…read moreordered an MRI and bone scan and provided a prescription for some THC based pain medication. I took only 3 single doses and was completely wired . I called the clinic who advised me that Dr. V. said I should quit taking them but did not offer a substitute so I returned to my GP who set me up with a cocktail of drugs that barely touch the pain. Back to Shields for a follow up. Dr. Loewen came in, gave me a cortisone shot based on MRI findings and sent me home 5 minutes later. No improvement. Two weeks later went back and Dr. Loewen gave another shot directly into the pain centre. No improvement. Back 3 weeks later. Dr. L. Was quite gruff and asked me what I thought he should do. Decided to give me 3 more shots randomly down my hip. Again no improvement. Next was a nerve block, by referral to Indsight Pain Management. Made it worse. Next was the rupture of a synovial cyst at the base of my spine. Temporary small relief. Now heading back for another shot into the cushion along the spine. These procedures done by Insight and horribly painful. Every time I speak to Dr. Loewen he becomes more off hand. "Well by the time anyone reaches 75 they're going to have problems with their spine". As someone else wrote, the front desk people are friendly and every appointment they ask you to fill out pages of information--which the doctors don't appear to read. I'm keeping my appointment, but this may be the last, regardless whether there is success or not.

There's about 4 stalls in front of their building for patient parking. Inside there's a lot of chairs in the waiting room and a TV to keep people entertained. The day I was there, the movie Happy Feet was playing which the children seemed to enjoy. It wasn't busy so the waiting room still had enough chairs for 8 people. The front desk staff are always very nice when answering the phone and in person. There's a place to take off your shoes and put feet covers over top if you like. They are not sticklers to make you take off your shoes unless they are wet and dirty. The patient rooms are spacious and clean making me feel very comfortable. Dr. Chan is always on time for our appointments and she answers my questions and provides me with guidance and medication information. There's always a large patient washroom in the back with a cute bear toilet paper holder. I wouldn't mind coming to this new location again as there's more seating, and it's nice and bright!

What I needed was someone who could get it sorted out for me as it was way above my pay grade. That someone was Dr. Breckenridge. He was very thorough in his gathering of information for his intake, right back to when I was young, then he proceeded to do a visual inspection, and asked a few more questions. I could see the wheels were turning as it had given him lots to think about. He knew exactly what to do, like he had done it before. He went to work on me and then after that he showed me some great and easy to do stretches and then sent me to the next phase of the treatment, electrotherapy! Its very effective and not at all painful like it sounds. I don't understand what it does or how it works, but I assure you it is effective. I saw results after my first visit. His intention is to get you fixed and set you up to live pain free just to be a support when you need him. The team at Brentwood Chiropractic are top notch, I would recommend them to anyone!

As a result, I was unable to drive, unable to read, unable to use my computer. I had to use Uber for every trip I needed to make. In short, it meant a virtual end to my freedom. The doctors said there was nothing which could be done, except to wait to see if it would improve over time, after which they could either (a) fit my left eye lens with a prism or (b) perform surgery on my left eye. Fortunately, I knew of Acupuncture Care Holistic Centre and Dr. Ling Duan, and the potential of acupuncture to rejuvenate and regenerate a nerve/neural pathway. I had originally met Dr. Ling Duan 8 years ago when I had Bell's Palsy which "paralyzed" the left side of my face, and her Excellent care and treatment with acupuncture cured my condition then. My body hates me. Sports season rolls around four times a year for me, and I always end off every…read moreseason with various injuries: stress fractured tibias, heel pain, knee pain, mashed up fingers, bleeding toes. To say that I play pretty hard and don't think about the consequences is a bit of an understatement. I visited the ESI after a fairly bad injury to my right leg that had left me with some nerve damage - meaning I was having trouble actually using my foot to walk, which scared me pretty badly. After a bit of googling, I found ESI and sent them an email outlining what I had done and my symptoms - I am not a professional athlete and I had already had x-rays done at a medicentre claiming "nothing was broken," so I was nervous as to whether my case was actually legitimate or not. Low and behold, I was emailed back almost immediately by the admin staff, asking me to call in and make an appointment. They were able to find me an appointment within a few days of sending that email, which is an amazing feat for any doctor's office. I went in and saw Dr Gregg and he was a wonderful doctor - really understood that my active life is important to me and gave me the facts straight without being unfriendly. He was confident and knowledgeable and I walked out (well, hobbled out) feeling really great that I had found a solution to some of my injuries. He explained a lot of things about my feet and legs that no other doctor has taken the time to explain to me. I have also had the pleasure of seeing David, one of the individuals at the ESI who does orthotics making and fitting. Booking several appointments with him for the various fittings and consultation was very easy and he seemed to really love his trade and be genuinely concerned for my health. I have been wearing my orthotics for almost a month now and have seen severe improvements in my running stride and my pronation. It is scary how many injuries came out of those elements alone and how long it took for me to find a doctor in Edmonton who actually figured that out. The clinic itself is very nice and clean, and includes a large physiotherapy space on site. All orthotics are also made on site, which is nice to know. If you have any problems with muscle pain, injuries, mobility issues or foot pain, I definitely recommend calling and getting yourself in to see the doctors at the ESI. It's really great to find a medical centre that is going to get you the answers you need to be active and pain-free.

They provide a variety of modalities specific to your needs and have lots of equipment to help you recover from your injury/reduce pain. The reception was fast to process receipts and provide times to rebook for future appointments. They even provide paperless/email invoices and receipts with automatic billing to your insurance. Everyone was friendly and willing to help you on your way to recovery.

I got a lot out of my time there and I still do some of the same exercises at home today to stay strong and to sty fit. I had one mishap that involved the muscle stimulator machine. It went a little crazy and somehow got turned up really high. It really freaked me out because it hurt. From then on, my therapist massaged me herself - no more machines - which I really appreciated. I enjoyed my time at his clinic, I actually looked forward to my visits.

I sustained an injury to my lower back and physical therapy was recommended. The owner came highly…read morerecommended and the convenience of close proximity to my work sealed the deal. To his credit, the owner was friendly and appeared knowledgeable while doing his assessment on me. However, the service all fell apart when he then delegated the work to his assistants-a collection of apathetic, 20 something undergrads who cared less about care than rushing though a demonstration exercise so that they can get back to their social media. The 'sweatshop' atmosphere of the therapist working with 15-20 patients simultaneously, didn't exactly put me at ease of getting hands on quality care. I also understood that the most important part of recovery was to do the recommended exercises prescribed by the care-provider independently. However, the generic exercises he gave me to do at home appeared to aggravate my injuries further. When I attempted to contact the therapist by phone to ask for guidance, I was told he would get back to me ASAP. He called 2 weeks after my initial call. By then, I was already involved with MOMENTUM Physiotherapy recovering nicely(See my review). To sum up, my experience was awful in that instead of receiving care for my injury, I was being processed like a piece of meat going through an assembly line, where squeezing as many people into a workspace supersedes actual care.
