I asked Luca to work on my upper back, shoulders and neck and he thoroughly got into every knot and tense spot with the perfect level of pressure. I also really appreciated the flow of the massage. I came into Unwind for a much needed massage and facial. I received a friendly greeting and welcome upon my arrival. The massage therapist did a great job of listening to my requests regarding pressure and providing what I requested. I also had a great facial and the esthetician was very informative and provided me with some helpful tips after. My two cons are that I felt that the massage room was a little cold; however, they did have heat pads on the massage table which I think were a great addition. And I was getting two services done, which were in two separate rooms. I wish I was able to change into a robe beforehand and provided a basket or storage area for my stuff so that I would not have to lug my stuff from room to room. I have been to this location twice (pre-covid and post-covid) and both times the service has been great. Both times my massage therapists listened to my needs, paid attention to the concern areas and were very attentive, especially my last visit a few weeks ago when my massage therapist and me struck a conversation about cbd massages, cbd products and life in general. I got the signature massage the last time and the cbd massage during my latest visit and enjoyed both. Covid-life has really put me in the need of a massage what with working from home, being more sedentary and having no proper office so this massage was welcomed. We were greeted by the welcoming and outgoing owner, Antonio, and treated to deeply relaxing massages by Power and Anna. Be sure to select the scalp/head/face massage option-- as it was an out of body experience and probably the most rejuvenating and therapeutic portion of a massage that I've ever received. Was really looking forward to getting a massage from this location. I have a back injury and I've been in a lot of pain and really been needing a massage. I finally got time off from work to take care of myself. After arriving I was checked in and everything seemed fine. After 15 mins passed I still wasn't taken back to my room. The front desk person told me the therapist was running late to arrive to work but I would still receive a full massage. After 20 more mins the front desk person returned and again said my therapist was not here and now there's no guarantee I would get a massage. The thing that is an issue so that my husband got a massage at the same time as me and he would have preferred I get a massage since I have an injury. If the spa had been up front with us I would have been in a massage. They did offer to comp my next massage but unfortunately I don't live here and I can't afford to get work off again. The good news is they comped my husband's massage instead although it was only for 30 minutes and apparently was not great. The therapist didn't target the area he asked for specifically and didn't use good pressure despite him asking for more pressure twice (which is already super awkward). The manager and the front desk handled the situation the best they could and it seems the therapist to blame. I know there are things that are unavoidable but it was all unnecessary. read more

I needed a little pampering so I decided to give Unwind a try for a massage and a detox wrap. Making reservations was a breeze online. I was able to specify if I wanted a male or female, and type of massage. I went with the classic. The spa is very inviting, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. I was escorted into a room with two tables and was gIven a robe and slippers. I was then told to get undressed and hop on the bed. I usually accustomed to putting my belongings in a locker, but here I simply placed my coat and clothing on the couch. The massage itself was ok, but felt a bit hurried. My masseuse moved deeply and quickly which was unexpected. When it was over I didn't feel relaxed or tense...just the same. I was then escorted next door (with belongings in tow) for my detox wrap. This was my first wrap of any kind, so I didn't know what to expect. This was a completely different experience. My tech was nice and just talkative enough. After she applied the warm mud, I was wrapped in a warm towel and and plastic. It was liike being in a warm cocoon, and was heavenly. She gave me the most soothing foot massage while the mud worked it's magic. When it was all over I lugged all of my belongings to a private restroom with a shower where I could rinse off. Overall, it was a good experience and I would go again. I think it's a matter of getting to know your masseuse. I will definitely be back for another wrap. That was an easy favorite. read more

Went back in November 2021, with my mother. The massage was adequate, but nothing exceptional, especially for the price point (note: this is the standard price I pay for massages, and I expect a certain quality, which I usually receive). My masseuse ignored my instructions - he had asked me if any area felt particularly stiff or painful, and I had mentioned my neck and shoulder area. He didn't spend any more time on that compared to the rest of my body, and didn't adjust his technique to deal with accumulated tension or pain. I also had to ask for slippers - the expectation was clearly that we would take our shoes and socks off and step directly onto the rug and floor, neither of which inspired confidence (c'mon, people, have you seen a floor under a microscope?! I'm not going to carry all those germs back into my shows). When I asked, we were told slippers could be provided, and they were, but this should be standard, and has been for all other massage parlors/spas I've visited. If you're trying to cut costs, just tell me in advance, and I'll bring my own. Also: the mask issue. This was still at the height of the pandemic, and I was very particular about only wearing N95 or K95 masks (which was later proven correct by official guidance). We were not advised beforehand that these would not fit into the headrests at the end of the message beds, and we were required to take them off and wait for simple, surgical-type masks - the only kind they provide. I was not comfortable with the level of protection these masks offered, especially since the staff wasn't wearing N95-KN95 masks. This should be clearly communicated ahead of time, and customers should be allowed to make the choice about what risks they want to take on. Receptionist did not care about us once we had exited the massage room. I had wanted to ask a question, but was left awkwardly waiting by her desk while she chatted on the phone - you don't know how to briefly put a conversation on hold to deal with a paying customer who is physically present at the time? I gave up, and just said "thank you, have a nice day". There was no response, not even a gesture, like a nod, anything, and no opportunity to offer immediate feedback. Nobody asked us how our experience had been. It was like "thanks for paying, bye-bye". I won't be back. There are better options in the DC area, especially for this price point. read more

I had an amazingly relaxing experience at Unwind. I came here for a combination massage with Danielle for my birthday - it was the perfect gift. Danielle did a wonderful job at modifying the pressure to my muscles' needs, and made sure that she addressed any problem areas. The rest of the staff was also incredibly friendly and welcoming! They let me wait inside a few minutes before opening and even surprised me with a Baked and Wired cupcake!! I returned two months later for an Unwind Cleanse Facial, which was also amazing. Alia, the specialist I met with, did a wonderful job of providing a customized facial - she answered my questions about the products and process, and left my face feeling rejuvenated and perfectly hydrated. It was one of my most relaxing experiences. The decor of the spa encourages a relaxing atmosphere. It was wonderfully decorated with calming colors, beautiful glass work, and comfortable amenities (like throw blankets and robes).
