Still one of my favorite places to get a massage! I've been here a few times and haven't been disappointed. I recently visited on a Friday morning for a massage and to kickoff my bday weekend and I couldn't have thought of a better way to do so! We had a couples aroma therapy massage and it was all that I needed. 90min flew by very quickly and I wish o could have done 120min lol. The essential oils are placed just in front of your face as you lay on your stomach which set the mood for me. However, after inhaling the oils for a moment, my partner & I became a bit stuffy. I thought maybe it was just me, but after my partner confirmed she was feeling stuffy as well, we noticed that it may have been the oils affecting us. I've had massages before without aromatherapy, and wanted to try this. I would stick to regular massages, but I don't regret trying this one bit. I was still relaxed and plan to come back again. The parlor took note that this was how we decided to kick off our celebrations and they went above and beyond to make sure we felt appreciated and good vibes were in the air. They have def set a standard for my expectations. You can't go wrong here. The people are friendly, management attentive, and thoughtful. I found unwind through my google search and the ambience was beautiful and it smelt so good! My boyfriend and I were greeted and served immediately. This was my boyfriend's first massage, so he was nervous at first, but he ended up loving the experience. He walked out feeling relaxed. My boyfriend and I booked a couple massages for Valentine's Day and had a great experience. We were greeted by a very friendly woman at the front desk who offered us water or tea. We waited on a very comfortable couch in the waiting area before being led into our room, it was beautifully decorated with a chandelier and artwork and dark drapes. The bed and linens were extremely soft and the heated bed was an awesome touch. Our masseuses were awesome - I could tell they definitely helped get the knots out of my back, i even fell asleep toward the end it was so relaxing!! After the massage was over, we were offered water and chocolates to take with us which I thought was very nice. I will absolutely recommend this spa to others. Before I even stepped foot into Unwind Wellness Center, I was already dazzled by the customer service. I had messaged the business via Yelp with a few simple questions and within minutes they responded in a friendly and easy to read way. I was already impressed! My husband and I arrived for our couples massage a few moments before our appointment time and we were ushered into a luxe looking waiting lounge complete with champagne, chocolate, tea and water. How can you not get hyped? After a few moments we were led to our treatment room which looked like a guest bedroom in the Beast's castle in Beauty in the Beast. Think dark lighting, gold plated mirrors, mercury glass, heavy fabric drapings, chandeliers and the works. It's definitely a lot different from the more modern or natural decor I usually at spas but still rather nice looking. Unfortunately the massage just didn't do it for me -- even though I asked for a deeper touch I felt like my skin was just being rubbed around with no actual muscle knot releases at all. I kept waiting for that satisfying pop, pop feeling and just never got it. For sure it was relaxing but just not what I was going for. Further more I think it would be great if there was a place in the online booking or when we checked in to request a female masseuse. Our two male masseuses were fine but at most places I go to I usually receive a choice and if a female is not available I am usually given a heads up by the staff asking if its cool so I was just a bit surprised. Overall it was a relaxing massage but just not the type of therapeutic muscle release I was looking for. read more

AS COVID-SAFE AS YOU CAN GET! Unwind Wellness Georgetown is, as ever, one of the best massage centers in DC. They follow CDC-regulations and their massage therapists wear face masks. We (couples massage) also kept our masks on as well. There is hand sanitizer all over the place and space appointments out to keep crowding to a minimum. Alexandra and Cybelle are two of the best. My friend and I are visiting family this weekend and scheduled massages. My friend had the lymphatic massage with David which she described as great. Unfortunately I did not have a similar experience. I should have known that things weren't going to go well when she did not adjust the pillow to fit under my knees at the start. Halfway through I started to get cramps in my back because of this positioning and the face cradle hurt as well. I had to ask for the pillow to be moved. She massaged my neck and head somewhat okay but mostly it just felt like I was being oiled down. The movements were very fast without any slow transition to a new technique or body part so it felt jarring and I was never able to actually relax. However, when Antonio (the owner) heard that this was the case, he quickly endeavored to make it right. Had he not done so, this review would have been much different and I would not be planning to come back. I will try again when I am back in DC. read more

Made an appointment here based on recommendations on a local listserv and Yelp reviews. Am trying to be cautious given Covid-19 and increasing cases and reviews indicated they are being careful. I felt comfortable that they are taking reasonable precautions. I had a signature massage with Tanya and thoroughly enjoyed it. I usually have deep tissue and sports massages because I get bad knots, but haven't had a massage in a while so thought the mix with Swedish would be a good way to start loosening up. Tanya used a nice combination of massage techniques and I felt very relaxed and looser by the end. With the stress of this unusual year and sitting at my home desk for hours, this really helped, physically and mentally. I will definitely be returning. read more

It's been too long since I've been to Unwind Wellness Center (Unwind), and I have to say, the experience was phenomenal. My friend and I wanted to have a Saturday spa day and Unwind was the best place for this occasion. Upon entering Unwind, there was the much-needed overwhelming ambience of calm, relaxation, and beautiful Zen vibes. From there, we were warmly greeted by the spa's front desk associate and owner. When I met the owner, I said it's been so long since I've been, but that I absolutely loved Unwind. When he asked me why it's been so long, I explained that I was still a law student when I first visited, which was back in 2017 (but now I'm done with law school and have a full-on job). When I shared this, he was so happy and gave my friend and me champagne to celebrate (what a way to be welcomed back!). Prior to the massage, I had to use the facilities, and everything was super clean and smelled of spa aromatherapy. The candles and lighting totally set the mood for relaxation. After that, my friend and I waited for two (2) minutes or less for our respective appointments by sitting on the couch by the individual massage rooms. The couch was stunning with spa vibes and felt like a cloud I could've slept on. My friend had the signature massage whereas I booked a 60-min. deep tissue massage with David. Now, the massage was phenomenal. Not only was the room stunning and the epitome of self-care, but the massage table itself was so comfy and heated (not too hot, but just right). At the outset of the session, David made sure to confirm my preferences as to pressure and major target areas during the massage. When I said scapula and shoulder area, he immediately targeted my pain points. The only "con" (it's not really a con) is that I ALMOST fell asleep because I was that relaxed. Luckily, I didn't completely fall asleep, but I was in this type of relaxation daze, so all was well and I enjoyed the entirety of my 60-min. deep tissue massage. To reiterate one of my major takeaways from 2017: -"The location is [still] on point -"The staff was so kind, accommodating, and knowledgeable about pain and trigger point release." -" The ambience made the experience all the more enjoyable." Just as you open the door you are greeted with the faintly pleasant smell of the relaxing essential oils they have coming from the diffuser. You are greeted by helpful and professional staff member at the front desk that prepare you for your appointment. The inside is gorgeous!As you wait for you appointment, you are sat on the beautiful and comfy couches, to take in all the calming ambiance. The place has the softest warm lighting from the gorgeous chandeliers, to compliment all the calming creamy tones of the various furniture and decor. It has such a relaxing opulence about it, that makes you feel as though you are truly getting in your "me time" the we all need. The bathrooms are also gorgeous and always very, very clean. The Massage Now down to the actual massage. The therapists here are so very good at what they do and are very professional. They always ask where you are carrying stress at, and do a really good job of addressing the area. At a minimum I come twice a month. The massage and overall experience I have here is so amazing that on my most stressful of days, I often just call and take whatever therapist that is available and I have always had a very comfortable and relaxing experience. I always come out feeling like a new woman. After my massage I am always asked if I would like any water, which I appreciate. During the Cherry Blossom Festival I was seeking a same day appointment. The person who took my call from Unwind apologetically explained that they were booked. This was totally understandable given the their caliber of service, and the events in town. I made the mistake of trying to get a massage somewhere else, and it was not the same at all, not even close! I realized I am just too spoiled by the therapists at Unwind to go anywhere else but there. This place also makes for a really good gift. I've purchased gift certificates for a massage for friends to as as a bridal and baby shower gifts, birthdays or just give to a friend who could use some relaxation and self care. When my BFF's fly into I always book a girls day appointment for a day at the spa here One last thing, I really do appreciate how this place has always been responsible with the pandemic. All staff wears a mask, at all times. Customers are offered masks if they would like one or not. It just shows how attentive they are to their clients' total well being. After our 90 minute session at Georgetown, I was left feeling violated, uncomfortable, more tense, and in pain. I had very high hopes for this place, as I had an amazing experience at the Adams Morgan location that left my boyfriend and I feeling rejuvenated. We got a normal 90 minute couples massage. I am a female and had a male massage therapist. He asked where I would like him to focus on me, and I said the left side of my lower back. My lower back was at best grazed over for a second during these 90 minutes. He spent a lot of time going into my neck, upper traps, and next to my spine. The cushion where my face was resting kept moving and I had to keep adjusting it because my chin and cheeks would be pressed against metal. When he would press into my traps my face would slip off the cushion leaving my chin feeling bruised several days later. When massaging my neck and also wiping me with a hot towel, I could feel and hear the hair snapping out. He rotated my torso to stretch me and I almost fell off the bed completely. He asked me to turn over and checked his phone right above my face and said, "oh, 90 minutes?" and the other massage therapist working on my boyfriend began flagging him down. I realized my boyfriend was prone a lot longer than me. When he'd massage my legs he would expose both at the same time and shoved the sheet up my crotch when I was prone and supine. While supine, he massaged up my thigh so high his thumb would go under my underwear repeatedly and the sound of the garter snapping back still haunts me. He kept telling me to just relax because I kept tensing up. When my arms would come out from under the sheet, he would lift the sheet up, exposing me, and put my arms back. These two things should have never even happened for me to feel violated in this way. He massaged my feet for a while, and then massaged my face and head and I thought it was very gross to touch my feet and go directly to my face. He pressed into my scalp so hard it felt like it was going to open, and I told him it was painful and he chuckled and asked if it's too much pressure. He pressed into my brows and downwards into my eyes so hard it hurt my eyes. I have gold rings in my daith and rook and he put his fingers inside my ears and then folded my ears over and pulled them really hard. My boyfriend's massage was over, and mine began massaging my pecs. I just hoped my boyfriend enjoyed his because I hated every second of mine. He too did not enjoy his massage at all. When we finished, the woman at the front desk was very sympathetic and did not have us pay after seeing how distraught I was trying to explain how uncomfortable the entire experience was for me. The owner called us about 10 minutes later and apologized and asked me what happened. He prefaced our conversation with telling me had tried to reach my partner, but he didn't answer, but he never received a call from him. I didn't even get to explain it all, and he told me I should have responded differently and that it was a lack of communication on mine and his massage therapist's end and said he had never heard of complaints about him and that he's so great that he has a waiting list and asked me if I wanted him to fire him. He asked if he could call me again the following day, and he did call me two days later apologizing and trying to get me to come try a new massage therapist and said he didn't want to lose our business. I will not be returning to either location and will be encouraging everyone to also not support this business. We were both left in more pain and discomfort physically and emotionally after our service. Our massage therapists were Andy and Power. read more
