Ambiance: it's a hand roll place located inside the market, they have rules to sit at their bar table for full menu, or limited menu for takeout Service: generically very fast and attentively refilled water Food: classic hand rolls and specialties, you can choose either tasting menu or order a la carte lean tuna - *** average fatty tuna - *** light taste steelhead salmon - *** average hamachi - **** rich in flavors, white fish with ponzu taste, recommend prawn - *** average crunchy blue crab - *** crunchy and creamy Price: moderate portions and fair prices, expect $30+ per person

Uoichiba is located on first floor of Citizen Market. When we got there, it took a few minutes to get anyone's attention to get seated. We sat at the bar which has about 8 seats but they also had table tops that seat 4. We were hungry so we ordered the Xtra Bento which has 6 sushi rolls (simple rice and fish but tasty), and for the 6th, you can select any from the special list (but 3 rolls had an extra charge) which I ordered the toasted lox bagel and a spicy tuna. The lox bagel reminded me of a Philly Roll (minus cucumber), it wasn't my favorite but the spicy tuna was good. Overall fine if you want a quick bite but nothing outstanding compared to other sushi restaurants.

Hand roll spot with dry aged fish inside the Citizen Public Market. Came here for dinner with a friend and we both ordered the small set (4 pieces). We were able to replace the lean roll with a different fish. Our server was super nice and we enjoyed our meal. It operates like it's a sit down spot so you pay after the meal, rather than at the counter like at other stalls in the market.

This casual hand roll bar is tucked inside the soon to be gone Citizen Market in Culver City. The staff is pretty chill and were patient with us as we staggered our orders. I opted to even get the extra medium hand roll combo. The hand rolls did not disappoint. The steelhead (perfect seasonings) and the special chu toro were my favorites. Hopefully when the market closes, this spot finds a new home as I'd love to see it find a new home somewhere in Culver City.

Came here for a really quick lunch with a friend since I was in the area. I got the 4 roll set. Pretty solid hand rolls but not too extraordinary. I did like that they do use larger pieces of sashimi compared to places like kazunori that usually have the chunks. The one standout though was the toasted lox bagel roll; that was a 10/10. I don't think I'd do the set again after trying it once but I'd drop by just to get the lox bagel roll again because it was so unique and delicious. Super quick service and being located in the market makes it feel a bit more of a quick casual feel.

So yummy! I was craving sushi and this hit the spot. Got the extra medium with the slammin salmon and would definitely get it again! Super friendly server and the hand rolls came out nicely timed.

Having tried both the Take out as well as Sit down menu, my best advice is this: sit down and get hand rolls! The take out is essentially fish and rice and sushi, so you can wrap it yourself, but you miss out on all the interesting toppings they add when eating there in person! They put roe, shiso leaf, rice cracker, which elevates the handrolls beyond the norm. Definitely go during Sunday dinner when they have happy hour (HH) before they take it away! Half off the $33 Extra Medium menu...totally worth! If you have the Amex Platinum card, get the Inkind membership ($100 credit thru platinum) and collect your discounts here.

Delicious handrolls in Citizens Public Market! This spot is located past Goodboybob Coffee and Bang Bang Noodles. You can sit at the counter or order your handrolls to go. I opted for the former, especially since the market can get crowded and noisy; there aren't always seats available in the common areas. The menu has different combos of handrolls -- Mini, Small, Medium, and Extra Medium. I got the Small, which had three rolls and they let me substitute shellfish with yellowtail (since I'm allergic), which was really nice! The handrolls come out one by one as they're made to order and they were very tasty (and much more filling than they look!). I was glad I got the Small by the end, because I was full. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the Culver City area!

Went here for a quick dinner on a Saturday night after long drive to LA. Looked for options in the citizen public market and agreed on getting some sushi. They offer handrolls and bring it one by one. I went for the medium size (5 rolls) and my wife ordered the small size. (3 rolls). They prepare the rolls one by one so you can eat at your own pace and they always taste very fresh. Would say the medium size is more than enough even if you're hungry. I liked all the options (tuna, fatty tuna, salmon, white fish and shrimp). My favorite was the fatty tuna though. Together with a Japanese beer it was a great meal. Staff were super friendly, they have a lot of bar seating and two tables. Definitely worth a try.

UOICHIBA is the best sushi hand roll bar I've been to in Los Angeles. The quality of the fish is on another level. After tasting their dry aged selections, every other place feels like a beginner's attempt. The flavor is deep, rich, and unforgettable. The portions are very generous, and everything was prepared with care and precision. I ordered the medium large and added a couple of extra hand rolls. Every bite was perfect. I can't wait to go back. If you love sushi, this place is a must.

This turned out to be one of the better hand roll bars I've visited recently. The chef provided great recommendations that really hit the mark, particularly the white fish and spicy tuna, both of which turned out to be my favorites. The chutoro was good, though it would have been even better with a lighter touch on the sauce. (Tip: don't hesitate to ask the chef to go easy on the sauce, as they tend to be quite generous with it.) Prawn was okay, but wouldn't reorder if I were to go back. Unfortunately, they were out of uni during my visit, but that just gives me a perfect excuse to return soon! Also a big fan of them using sashimi-like cuts of fish or seafood rather than the chopped-up version we see from other popular hand roll spots. Oh, and their nori (seaweed) doesn't get soggy easily and stays somewhat crispy. I noticed the chef was wearing only one glove, with the bare hand holding the nori. Would love to see them wear both next time I visit.

Came here for dinner with some friends and we had a great time! Staff was friendly and the fish was fresh. We all got the extra medium tasting (6 rolls) for $32. Each roll is made to order and they will bring them out one at aI liked how their rolls use cubed fish versus how kazunori used minced fish. Food was a little on the pricey side but overall delicious. They do have limited seating so this is place is better for small groups. We were seated at one of their two tables and there was another party at the other table at the same time. It felt very squishy, wished there was more room.

I absolutely love coming to Uoichiba. I recommend you try this handroll spot if you're in culver. It's located inside of the Citizen Public Market, the energy of the market is relaxed and the music is always great! The chefs at Uoichiba are attentive, knowledgeable and so kind. I recommend you try the crunchy crab, spicy tuna and prawn!!!

Then you select the individual pieces of fish; prices are listed clearly for each piece. They'll then slice the sashimi and create a sashimi platter.
