Myself, three other bridesmaids, and the bride all came here early on a Sunday morning and got a good sweat in before the big day. Chris started us off with 5 minutes of stretching, followed by a warm up that got our heart rates up, and then led us into a workout rotation that we went through three times. Most of the exercises we did I was familiar with, but there were a few that intimidated me (ahem, power snatches). Chris had us try out each station a few times before starting the clock in order to ensure we had good form. After starting the clock he would come over and kindly correct us if our form was off. At the end of the class I could definitely feel that I had just challenged myself, but didn't feel like I overdid it. I was sore for the next few days, but not in an unreasonable way! Aside from a quality workout and awesome coaching, this gym has the coolest vibe. It's in a garage-type space off Fairview. The doors were open while we worked out, letting in some nice natural light and fresh morning air. The equipment and workout space is also up-to-date and kept nice and tidy. They also have a great stereo system in here and blare music while the class is going - nothing like a little Kanye to motivate you through your final round of box jumps! As far as pricing is concerned, they have a few different monthly packages depending on how often you want to attend classes. The slide isn't always staffed, but when it is, it's super fun... even as a grown up :-) They have a rock wall, track for walking/running, and offer fitness classes. My mom likes doing the circuit of machines up in the weight lifting area. There's lots of cardio equipment. I usually prefer the free weights and non-circuit resistance machines for my workouts, and I've found everything I needed at this YMCA. Staff and members are all friendly, and I've never felt uncomfortable working out here. Sometimes you end up weighting for weights or machines, especially during peak times, but that's pretty much how it goes at any gym. Membership is $50/month for one person, or I believe $80/month for two, so a bit of savings. Considering everything you have access to with a membership, it's honestly not a bad deal. I have paid as much or more for gyms with way fewer amenities, let alone for a yoga or pilates studio. Definitely a good option.

I will say it is a bit pricey, but they have financial assistance for people who are needing it, and when I lost my job we paid based on how much we made so cost doesn't have to be a factor preventing you from going to an inclusive community center for all ages. The YMCA in West Boise offers a great experience for any newcomer to the gym or long time veterans who are just coming in to work out.

There are different paths that veer off of the main road that require 4x4 so keep an eye on which one you get on. They are super fun for off-roading if you're equipped for that kind of adventure. While the canyon is beautiful, Leslie Gulch is the real gem here. Take the time to drive through and soak in the beauty of all the rocks. When you get to the lake (if you can call it that anymore) relish in the fact that you can park your car on what used to be the bottom of the lake. There is no trash service so PLEASE pack it out!

How to get there(ish): 1. Head up ID 55 like you're going towards McCall 2. Hang a right on Banks Lowman Highway 3. Drive for 28 miles and then you'll see Pine Flats Campground on the right 4. (Now getting to the hot springs is a bit tricky. Side note: I definitely would NOT recommend attempting this in snowy weather, that just would not be smart or safe.) Anyways, you're going to take a trail that runs sort of by the river and is towards the rightmost part of the campground. You'll walk for what I assume to be a quarter mile, and then voila! You'll arrive at a beach along the river with massive boulders and pools stacked against the hillside (this is all natural by the way)! The Campground: Parking is $5/day, and I am not sure about the cost of overnight camping as we only made a day trip here. They have one bathroom here, and, well, it's totally a public park bathroom. The Views: We went on an October weekend, so we had a view that combined all things beautiful that Idaho has to offer in one--snow on mountains in the distance, lush green hills, stunning fall foliage, a rushing river running along the hot springs, and clean mountain air. The Hot Springs: A good amount of the pools of water were warm and I would only recommend sitting in them if the weather is above 80 degrees, or else you'll get chilly real quick. But for the most part, they were toasty, especially if you sat underneath the ones with waterfalls--those will heat you right up! Pro Tip(s): 1. Make sure you have more than enough gas in your car--you're out of service up here and out of luck if you run out of gas. 2. Bring a big water bottle! Sitting in hot water will dehydrate ya real quick.

I had read that this was super kid friendly and do be warned there are some short steep dusty slopes, and ledgy areas, that made us very nervous with our 5 year old and our 83 year old relative. It's kid friendly in terms of it being short, but there are some nerve racking spots for sure! The best type of shoes for this would be something like hiking sandals that you can get wet since there are areas you need a good grip for hiking, and others where you literally have to hop over stones. The waterfall is breathtaking and we sat there for some time enjoying the view.

DO NOT WEAR FLIP FLOPS!!!!! Trail can have poison Ivy along the path. Do not veer from the trail. You will probably get your feet wet. You will have to walk over wet rocks and can fall into creek. Not handicap accessible. If you become injured, expect that it can take over an hour to get volunteer Ambulance and Fire personal to get you to the ambulance, then another 30 minutes to a hospital. the Volunteer EMS service can not give pain medications, so better be tough butter cup!! If you decide to take a path that goes above the falls and you get injured, expect an extra long recovery. Intermountain search and Rescue *IMSR) will have to respond from Boise assist you off of the hill. In the case of severe injury, Life flight will probably be dispatched to expedite transportation to a hospital. I have every thing from a broken wrist, broken legs, ankles, to severe injury from a person falling 30 feet from a cliff. That recovery took over six hours, IMSR, four wheelers, and life flight. Please remember that if you do call for emergency services, we are volunteer community Fire/Ems personal that respond. We take time out of our day to assist in your worst time. Please treat us with respect and if you feel you can donate to our agencies, it is greatly appreciated.

Beautiful big windows overlook PCH and the ocean skies. (It's right above Summer House for those of you trying to find it!) the studio is brand new and you can tell that Christina poured her heart and soul into the space. One of my favorite parts about class was that Christina played good music!! She played popular slower songs rather than typical weird yoga music... you know what I'm talking about! The class was challenging but fun and relaxing at the same time. All in all, I had an awesome experience here and I will definitely be back!

The studio is located above Summer House and parking is pretty easy to find. I usually just park in the neighborhood by the studio. They help everyone as they walk up and down to make sure you're in the correct positions and check-in to make sure you're still alive! They make it fun! There are mostly women that attend but a few men as well, from time to time. There are women of all ages and sizes! It's all at your own personal pace and it's not a race! The tv monitors tell you what to do next and for how long, and toward the end, there is a count down on the screen. And yes, I'm always watching that count down to get it over with! I feel as though it's now a community of supportive women! They all chat and have made connections even outside of SP! It's really nice to see! Dallyn and Pam are my usual instructors based on my schedule and they're amazing! I have neuropathy and fused bones in my feet that limit me to some exercises and they already know what exercise to do in its place for my safety and benefit of the workout! Even when the class is at max capacity, they're there to help guide and motivate! I love the times of the classes too, as I feel they're thoughtful for those that want to workout before work, at lunch break, after work or even after the kids have eaten and gone to bed! Sometimes I'm the only one in a 6:15PM class and sometimes it's full. You just never know! Either way, it's motivating and a QUICK 45min non-stop workout on the reformers. There is an app where you can purchase class passes and book classes or easily cancel 24hrs in advance to not lose the class pass. The app is nice and easy and has never glitched! I pay about $240 for a 10 class pass and you do have to use them within 3-months. My goal is mainly to go once a week, but I do travel a lot and have missed a month between classes but this has been good for me to get out of my little apartment and do something for myself! And that makes me smile! If you're thinking about it or think you can't do it, trust me, YOU CAN! If I can, so can you!

One of the best features is Grasshoppers' 10 for 10 class. It is a 30 minute classical Pilates class from 12:15-12:45 Wed.-Fri. It's easy to get a great workout during the lunch hour. And if you think 30 minutes is too short for a class, you should give it a try. I've been going for a couple months and I've noticed a huge difference in my strength and flexibility. Grasshoppers is a beautifully furnished, state of the art studio in Hyde Park with all the bells and whistles but also with a small, intimate feel.
