Go to another hospital or even a veterinarian first.Not worth waiting 13 hours in the ER just to be told to go to a urologist because of my gumball sized kidney stone.If you have ever had a kidney stone you know it's comparable to giving birth when it comes to pain.For men it's even worse to have a kidney stone.13 hours in agonizing pain and took 6 hours for a X-ray and 6 more before they told me it was the biggest stone they have seen but they can't do anything even though one doctor said it should come out now and admit him.It took a week to see a urologist and I had a severe kidney infection and dealth with it for a week.They have the worst ER and hospital.The problem is they are the only hospital within 30 miles and they treat you like they know you have no other choice so deal with it.I was told by one doctor i couldn't get the care i needed here and needed to go to a better hospital.Joke of a hospital read more

I know how people talk about medical facilities in this area, but I feel as though I am one who can give a proper review. I have been to this hospital near 20+ times; once as a patient and 19+ as company. There have been several emergencies and several non-emergencies. Today, we were luckily assigned with a lady named Yvette in the ER and she may have been the most pleasant person I've come in contact with yet in all my visits. The wait time Is always a negative no matter where you go. It's a hospital. Would you rather it that the lab techs are faster and more careless with your labs? It would be nice if there was a round about or drop off at the ER so you could easily help disabled people into vehicles. read more

I came here in January for some symptoms related to malnourishment. While the majority of the nurses and staff working were nice enough, the care coordination/communication is terrible. They left an IV in me for 10 days and only changed it once, causing phlebitis and hard veins/movement in my arm. As far as aftercare is concerned, forget about it. I had to tell them about specialty treatment centers in the area, even though they are the ones with case managers etc on staff. Nurses in the medical ward were nice enough but the ones in the ER made very rude comments and seemed to just be going through the motions. Doctor misgendered me and couldn't secure a bed in a treatment facility, so they just sent me home wand sent a bill. Never in my life have I been under the care of 3 different providers in an inpatient setting. Seemed very odd to me. I was at UPMC Pittsburgh twice last year and the difference is night and day. The emergency room is a joke, readers please beware if you or a loved one is being taken there for a very serious and/or life-threatening matter! Just Two days ago, October 23, 2020, my father had suffered a stroke, and went to the ER. After a series of tests they "could not find anything wrong", and sent him home. I at the time was at work, but when I got home and seen the state he was in- staggering to the point of nearly falling, slurring his speech, and unable to use his right hand, I knew something was very wrong, and had him taken down once more. Now since the Covid outbreak only the patient is allowed to be in the room or the ER itself which in the case is a good thing because I might be in a bit of trouble after his second trip down; the second 'doctor' to see him more or less argued about his symptoms, and after a back-and-forth with him, he angerly told the nurse to get my father a room as if my father was making the whole thing up. Now fast-forward a day to Saturday, and the hospital proper performs an MRI that shows that yes, he did indeed have a stroke, and is currently still in the hospital being treated. I am beyond upset with the staff of the emergency room, and how they treat patients. Please if you have the choice, or time, take yourself or your loved ones else where because I wouldn't take a dead hamster to this ER. I would give them negative 5 stars if I could. I have seen more care and compassion out of Vets toward the animals they treat than this place displays toward human beings. *Edit* You are probably better off going to the Vet to be seen. read more

This review is for the ER only: Never again will I come to this ER! I will drive 1 1/2 hours to go anywhere else but here. Waited 4 1/2 hours with my daughter and her 1 week old baby in the ER waiting room (my daughter had pre-eclampsia during pregnancy and her blood pressure was High again today). Had to bring baby because she is breast feeding. We watched people come in after us and go back before us for 4 hours. Kids coughing, fevers & bumps went before us and left us in the waiting room exposing a 1 week old infant! Then we got back to the room and after initial check were left in a freezing room, not offered blanket or checked on for another 1 1/2 hours. Er Dr.'s bedside manner was awful. Yes, the emergency department needs improvement, and the hospital is working on it. I saw a PA that was very good last time I was there. A big shout out to the Pulmonology and Gastroenterology departments. I've had great experiences in the last year going there. The latter has a new doctor that is better than any gastroenterologist I've seen in the last 15 years. read more

Our local hospital is great if your having heart surgery or if you are in the cancer center but anything else you better forget about receiving the correct care. Oh if your pregnant never ever expect quality care or bed side manner. Here's my story, I had shirlynn a mid wife at the hospital. They were worried that my baby was gonna be 10 pounds and I wouldn't be able to push him when the time came. So they decided to induce me, she induced me and told me I'd be able to walk around while being induced, that was a lie. They said he was soo soo big that was their reason for induction and C section. He was 7pounds 7ounces. I laid in pain through 2 Epidurals which one was leaking and not working but didn't find that out till after he was born. Because anesthesiology never put it in right. Also the anesthesiologist nurse yelled at me half the night saying I didn't need to be calling her in so often. She was upset because she had to get out of bed. She also threw water on the floor because she was mad about coming in. Also after having my baby she told me that I should never have kids again it would just be better that way. Anyway 22 hours of progress, he finally made it to 9.5cm. Shirlynn came in said I was done either they used forceps inside me or I get c section. I begged them to let my push they said no. The baby wasn't in any distress he was just a little sideways. They would even try and move him with her hand. She later told my grandmother that she was never gonna let me push, because she said I couldn't do it. A few weeks later I called in because I reported the anesthesiology department and they told me that the report came back and they were going to punish the woman. Who told me I should never have kids. Her punishment was a very firm talking to. Because that made me feel so much better. Not! read more

My two daughters and I went to Western Maryland Health System Urgent Care in McHenry, Maryland. One daughter had flu symptom's which was the reason for her visit. My other daughter and I had not received our flu shots yet for the year. On their large sign at the road they said "Get your flu shots here" So my other daughter and I decided to get our flu shot. This urgent care never told me that flu shots are not covered at urgent care. So they charged me the full insurance price which I found out when I got the bill - which was $69 each for a flu shot! They would not lower it or let me pay a cash price when I complained to Andrea. So I was stuck paying $138 for two flu shots! Outrageous! read more

Very poor patient care and fail to take patient and family wishes when planning patient care. I am pursuing legal counsel to see what our courses of action as to patient violation of rights by doctors at this hospital and not surprised that the 2 doctor's involved are in fact foreign. Maybe families and patients need to check into and make sure your doctor's are licensed doctor's. Shame that you ask people to change their posting of care by this company!! read more

On the evening of July 12, 2019, my daughter fell while skating and broke her arm. We picked her up around 9:15 pm and drove her the Western Maryland Hospital where she was taken in and evaluated. She was put into a room. She was still using a magazine with ice from the skating rink to keep her arm steady. An IV was administered in her right arm and at 10:11pm and she was given Morphine for the extreme pain she was in.+ X-rays were taken and we found out that she had open compound fractures. Both her ulna and radius were broken. At 10:57 pm she was administered an antibiotic. At 11:06 she was in extreme pain. At 11:21 she was administered 50MG of Fentanyl. This seemed to ease her pain. At 11:48PM a pad and gauze wrap dressing were applied to the open area and the right arm was splinted for comfort. Shortly after that I was told that she would have to be transported to Morgantown or Baltimore, and there was no Orthopedic surgeon on call. I picked Morgantown because I had been there several times before with my brother. I knew it was a great hospital go too, but after everything happened,I found out her insurance may not cover much of anything. After thinking about it, I wondered why the hospital didn't suggest I go to Baltimore because of her insurance, which is Maryland's Physicians Care. I was told an ambulance would be transporting her.My daughter would have to wait several hours and endure more pain. Every 30 minutes or so my daughter would complain about pain, but that is not noted in her records. She was also very thirsty and was not allowed to eat or drink anything because they weren't sure if she would need surgery or not. As more time passed, I was getting very anxious not knowing what was happening to my daughter's arm, whether there were tendons or nerves that needed repaired. At 3:02 AM she was administered more Fentanyl for pain. I just can't imagine how the hospital can allow someone to lay so long in pain. More time passes, more pain. Waiting for the ambulance felt like an eternity.+ Ambulance driver arrives around 5:00am. The nurse attempts to administer more Fentanyl in her arm. Finds the pic line is clogged and keeps trying. He then attempts to pull the IV out of her and sees that the needle is bent. I was so upset. And my daughter was even more upset and in pain. He then attempted to put the IV back in her hand, not once, or twice but 3 times, her hand was so sore. Then he went to find someone else to do it. The ambulance driver came in and said to stop trying and put the Fentanyl in her nose. It's one thing to have to wait all night to get to a better hospital, but to then have my daughter upset again ripped me apart. Soon after that nightmare she was lifted onto another stretcher and then placed in the ambulance for transport to Morgantown. We arrived in Morgantown and the doctor on duty asked why it took so long for us to get there. The care we received at Morgantown was incredible.The attempted to reduce her fractures back into place. She had to wear a cast for 6 weeks and is still dealing with issues using her right arm. One bone still has a 6 degree angle to it. I picked up her medical records and found out she also had a buckle fracture near her wrist, and she is now having issues with that while we also try to rehab her arm. Also, no one even suggested that she go to rehab. My paperwork also included some other patients' information with my daughter's name stamped on it. I am sure this violates HIPAA laws.I have received multiple messages on Facebook from people stating their horror stories from the Western Maryland Hospital. Something needs to change. I suggest the hospital publicly announce they do not have proper care for patients on the weekend. Its just a shame that you would have to drive someone 1 to 2 hours away for proper care. read more

Have been listening to the same beep for the last 20 minutes and no one will come turn it off. Seems like the place is empty. Couldnt get any help from nurses to navigate the hospital. Some one could come and kill any one and no one would no. Under staffed and the staff that are there just stand around half the time and dont help. I had to walk back to the staff only section to get help finding a certain room. Just go to morgantown. read more
