Brought my son and his friends here this evening. They are avid vintage shoppers and were thrilled to shop local. The shop has a great selection of vintage clothes, however, because of the male employee's attitude (I sure hope this is not the owner) , we will never return. From the moment we walked in he was staring as if he was confident they were thieves. We left but my son couldn't get a pair of pants off his mind so went back at 5:53 to buy them. He asked to try them on and the man rudely snapped at him and said "we're closed!". Was he having a bad day and doesn't know how to control his emotions? Was it our skin tone? read more

My sister and I came here on the 27th of May as our last resort for prom dresses. We were desperately tired of trying to find the perfect prom dress for my sister and boy did we feel accomplished after coming here. My sister found the most beautiful prom dress and is excited to slay with it this month. Sonia and her husband were really nice and sweet in helping us find a dress. They are the true definition of great customer service. Plus, I got a cute Zac Morris inspired sweater. Once you enter the store, you feel the 90's vibes. My sister and I will be coming back. First off! Friendliest owner ever, she seemed very nice from the moment I walked in. The pricing for the clothes were very reasonable, which I liked. Along with the fact that they were in good shape and there was a lot of different varieties of things to choose from! I also noticed there was a studio in the back, where she informed me that they sometimes did galleries, which is pretty cool! I like the idea of having a local shop for the community, that also displays independent artist's work! I hope to come here again soon and to check out one of the exhibits! read more

my daughter and i spotted this shop across the street from where we were having coffee, and we strolled in to jonathan warmly greeting us. there was a photo shoot happening at the back of the store, so we browsed quietly and were amazed by all the great pieces! there's a rack of concert t-shirts, another one of beautiful coats, and lots of dresses and button up shirts from different decades. i was able to chat with jonathan a little, who was very friendly. he and his wife are great at what they do, acquiring everything specifically for their store. if you enjoy vintage shopping, you must visit upright citizen! we ended up buying a navy jacket, blue overcoat, and labyrinth t-shirt, and we love all of them! read more

Terrible quality items and a total rip off. This guy was selling very worn band shirts for 18-20 each and claiming they was "vintage" and worth the price since they were "hand picked." Several of them had Hot Topic tags and/or were very worn and not in good condition. I went to Hot Topic and bought two similar shirts for less than ONE of the shirts at this Upright Citizen store. Any "upright citizen" wouldn't be trying to pass off worn mainstream merchandise as "vintage". Just because the bands are from the 90's doesn't make the item itself a vintage item. He wanted a simple Marilyn Manson shirt for more than 100 dollars. Uhm excuse me? Don't go to this store unless you want overpriced rubbish.! read more

The family and I went to Downtown Chula Vista to attend the Village Summer Nights art/auto exhibit this past Tuesday, and I am SO glad I decided to walk into this hidden gem. I have been looking for a vintage Hawaiian dress for quite some time, and not only did I find EXACTLY what I was looking for, but I also walked out with a vintage inspired dress that was just as beautiful. My 14 year old niece even found a few pieces for her wardrobe. The owners are super friendly and helpful, and the vibe in this place is awesome. They have a good selection of clothes and sizes from different eras with reasonable prices, great music playing in the background, and a cute dressing room. I can't wait to go back! read more

I visited this store for the first time today and am absolutely stoked with my purchases! I got a pair of striped Dickies overalls, a beautiful velvet skirt, an embroidered wool vest, and a funky cowboy canvas bag! They have a vast selection of items including pants, shirts, coats, skirts, and accessories. The store is very clean and fairly priced. I spent a long time looking through all of the racks because of how unique and cute everything is! The owners were very kind and helpful, and even had a local band's merch available for purchase!
