My husband went to Audio One Broadway looking to replace a blown speaker in his amplified Subaru WRX with a comparable replacement. After explaining his current Infinity Kappa system, the staff recommended Focal ACX 165 speakers, which we purchased. Before installation, another professional audio shop informed us these speakers were not comparable to his existing setup. They remained unopened and unused, but Audio One refused to issue a refund, even after we spoke with the owner. Instead of addressing our concerns, they dismissed the second shop's opinion and claimed they were only trying to make a sale. Ironically, that shop had actually sent my husband to purchase speakers elsewhere before ultimately offering him a discount on a more appropriate set for his vehicle. A good car audio shop should recommend equipment that matches the customer's existing system, not simply make a sale. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. I went to the Kicker Audio web site to search for an authorized Kicker dealer in the Chula Vista area and came across Car Audio One. I stopped in a few days ago to see if they had the speakers that I wanted for the front and rear of my Ford Explorer and they did. I bought the equipment and got there at 9 AM today to have them installed. Within an hour, I got a call saying that the vehicle was ready to be picked up. When I got there, the vehicle was parked in the front and John proceeded to have me test the system before leaving and showed me the old equipment in the back seat. I attribute the short installation time to the fact that I was replacing aftermarket speakers in my Explorer with new ones so they only had to remove/replace what was already installed. No cutting or splicing of wires was necessary. I was also told that two people were working on my car which sped up the installation. The only thing that I wouldn't do is force someone to leave feedback before leaving. As I was getting ready to leave the showroom, I was asked for my phone and before I knew it, a Google review page was open with five stars already selected and a photo was attached. When I checked my camera roll later, I realized that John had taken the picture himself! I don't mind leaving feedback for a business and have done it countless times but I would rather do the work myself rather than it be forced. P.S. There was only one small issue that was noticed when John was trying to get out of the passenger side of the car. He noticed that the inside door handle wasn't working and he had to open it from the outside. This was quickly fixed by one of the techs who popped the door panel and connected the necessary part. read more

I went to audio one because the volume on my stereo isn't working. I paid a 69$ diagnostics to tell me in about 10 mins that I needed a new stereo. I was then sold a stereo for 500$, I gave a deposit of 100. I clarified that all my features would work including cameras, they assured me they would. I was called for installation then was told it was not compatible and another part was needed to be ordered. I returned the next day to later be called, informing me the stereo they purchased was not compatible with my cameras(again!)Please go elsewhere, this was such a waste of time. They returned my deposit but not the diagnostic fee. Which isn't the purpose of a diagnostic to see how it needed to be fixed to then purchase appropriate parts ?!There was no delivery. I also had a very strange experience at this business and am sure the system they installed in my car was either used or reconditioned for a new price. I, like others reviewing here, saw the large number of 5-star reviews which drew me in but the experience was far less than professional. I was shown a new video system that would fit my car and agreed to have it installed for an agreed-upon fee. I waited in the store for it to be installed and after awhile walked to the installation area in back. There, a manager was smoking. I said "Please save the box and all the materials that came with my new unit" and the response was "Oh, we have already thrown all of that in the trash." I asked why it would be thrown away and was told "We do so many cars here we can't save everything." Right away that sent up double red flags. Later I was given a set of instructions supposedly for my "new" unit but when I arrived home I realized the instructions were for a different model! So far the "new" unit has worked well but I am convinced it was a returned or refurbished unit. The counter people here "have an answer for everything." I don't usually write reviews unless I've had a BAD experience with a business, and this was one of them. People deserve to know what actually goes on at this place. I found this shop on Google and saw it had amazing reviews, so I called to ask for a quote. They told me it would be between $49 and $100, which seemed reasonable, so I decided to go in the next day. When I got there, the manager named John greeted me by reaching out for a handshake, which I initially wanted to believe he was just trying to be friendly. I told him why I was there, and he immediately said it would be $125. I reminded him of the quote I was given on the phone, and he said okay, he'd do it for $100 instead. He then asked to see my car, and after looking at it, he asked me, "Are you Spanish?" I responded, "No, but I can speak Spanish. Why?" Then he said, "What are you then?" and "You have beautiful eyes." That instantly made me uncomfortable. Then after I asked a few more questions, he dropped it again to $80, saying he gave me more discount, which I thought was a little odd, but I said okay. I paid $80 in cash, and they handed me a weird form to sign. It didn't look like a typical receipt. So I asked, "What am I signing for?" and he said it was to verify me to have warranty in their system. I was confused but wrote down my name and phone number and signed it like he told me to. While he was putting my name in their system, I was on my phone waiting until he was done. Then he said, "Give me your phone so I can have you in the system," acting like he was trying to help me set up something for my warranty. I gave him my phone, but I was watching him because I already had uneasy feelings about him. I closely watched what he was doing, and I saw him open up Google Maps, then the review page for their store, and then he clicked on 5 stars. I literally saw the stars turn yellow, and I was thinking, what the hell is he doing? Then he proceeded to tap "Add Photos," which opened MY photo album. I immediately grabbed my phone back and asked him what he was doing. He gave me some bs excuse like, "I was just trying to take a picture of the store for verification and feedback," which made ZERO sense. First of all, I hadn't even received the service yet. And second, what the hell does "feedback" even mean if it's coming from you? It was so obvious he was trying to secretly write a fake 5-star review for his own shop using MY phone without permission, and straight up opened MY photo album like it was nothing. So I said, "I can do that myself, right?" and he goes, "Yes, of course, you can write it whenever you want!" acting all innocent like nothing happened. And then he tried to go for a handshake AGAIN, which made it even creepier at that point. That was it. I told him I had to leave and asked for a refund. He clearly didn't want to give it and kept trying to convince me to wait for their workers to return from lunch even though I had already told them beforehand I didn't have time to wait. But honestly, it wasn't even about the lunch. I wanted to leave because everything about the situation, his behavior and demeanor, gave me a seriously bad gut feeling. After trying to convince me like at least 5 more times, John said he needed the general manager's approval. The GM came, approved the refund, and John gave me my money back. Then he asked for the receipt. There were two copies, so I asked if I could keep one, and he said no, that he had to keep both. I told him it had my name and phone number on it and that I wasn't comfortable leaving it, and he said he'd rip them. I saw him rip them just in half, which honestly didn't make me feel any better before my info was still there, just in two pieces. I walked out and sat in my car, and right before I was about to leave, John came to the back of the parking lot and tried to talk to me through my window, which was closed. I didn't feel safe, so I didn't open it. He tried to offer me the service AGAIN for $40. Following someone to their car after they had already said no multiple times is creepy as hell and just straight up disrespectful. The whole experience made me feel extremely uncomfortable, disrespected, and manipulated. And now it makes complete sense how this place has so many 5-star reviews, because they literally write them from people's phones without their permission or knowledge. I'm young and know how to use a smartphone, so he got caught. I might look young, and yeah, I'm a woman, but I'm not the type you can fool that easily. I knew and SAW exactly what he was doing. He thought he was slick, and when he got caught, he tried to play dumb like nothing happened. Now imagine what he'd do to older people who aren't good with phones. I wonder how many times he's done this and gotten away with it. This is not how you run a business. It's shady as hell, it's predatory, and it's disgusting. So look I am going to be as transparent as possible for this. Yes. The car is loud. I do love how it sounds. Now here is what issues I ran into and I will forewarn you, they are pretty big. I went in because my car had bluetooth issues in the stock radio. I wanted the pioneer installed. I did financing and WHAT DO YOU KNOW I got approved. He used TWO DIFFERENT FINANCING companies. So instead of giving me what I wanted, he maxed out the amount I was approved for and said he would "take care of it" as well as "install a 'tesla screen'". Never heard of any brand like that but assumed it looked like the huge tesla ones. I was wrong. The install took awhile and when I finally was able to get in the car.. MY DASH ALERT SYSTEM WAS IN CHINESE. So I added things up obviously and now I have paid 1300 dollars for a radio from china that when I looked up, is AT MOST 200 dollars. The one person who I absolutely know is well versed and was willing to help me if anything was wrong is Tony. Do NOT come here. I am currently in a dispute for a refund of $1100 after they installed a navigation system completely wrong rendering it inoperable (including our backup camera) and leaving it aesthetically unpleasant. They would not admit that they installed it wrong and continued to try and upsell me or get me to install a different unit. After multiple trips to the store, hours wasted with them and threats to call the police, they finally agreed to write a check and re install the original screen. The check never deposited in our account due to an issue on their end and I am now filling a complaint with the BBB and the police. While I was there dealing with this mess, at least 3 others walked in to resolve an issue as well. I purchased my own headlights and had audio1 install them, i was assured it would be done correctly, i asked do they adjust them and was told yes, it was done in 2 hours and they worked including the DRL,, as i looked at the quality of work,, im not impressed,, wires loose and hanging some even close to hot engine parts,, lights were not adjusted at all,, the fuse tap was placed but the cover was still loose and i had to snap it back on,, i have to go back and secure the wires with zip ties now,, as well as adjust the lights read more
