When I open the door the truck was driving off. To make it worse, I found the UPS missed package slip on the floor in the dirt. I don't think the driver even tried to stick it on the door. Terrible, terrible, terrible. One of the worst customer service experiences ever. I'm currently in the waiting room (one of two) full of cranky people (except for the ones who angrily left because their packages won't be ready until tomorrow for some reason). I have no idea why they didn't leave the package today even after I beeped them into my building and went down to retrieve it 10 seconds later. So, after my sister is on the phone with the unbelievably rude people at UPS, they tell her to pick it up between 8pm and 9pm. Wouldn't you think that meant you can come at any time between those hours? Well you can, but that doesn't mean your package will be there. No, it apparently means the package can come at any time between those hours, even up to 9:15pm. If that's the case, just tell us to come after 9:15 so the package will definitely be there. Of course, the woman at the counter is rude and dismissive as she tells us to wait over an hour. Moral of the story: use FedEx. They know where every package is, and will be, down to the minute it seems. Yet the sign on the wall at UPS says, "We love logistics." Love, maybe. Know, not so much. Update: Even if we had been there at 9:15pm it wouldn't have mattered, because it ended up taking nearly two hours to get the package anyway. We left the parking lot at 10pm. I came here on the evening of the preordered iphone delivery. Since these could not be left without a signature and it was a weekday, there must have been 100+ people coming into the small office between 7:30-9:15. From what I understand, UPS was only informed at the last minute that they were allowed to hold onto these packages for pick-up as Apple normally didn't allow this . The very limited staff at that time were still very professional despite the chaos. It looked like the vast majority of the crowd was determined to wait it out so they could receive their phone on the first day available. This meant that it would be well after closing before anyone was getting out of there. Since I had the option, I chose to come back on Monday morning. When I did, the people in the office could not have been friendlier and more professional. They thanked me for waiting a few days and apologized for the inconvenience (which wasn't their fault) Such a pleasant experience! read more

UPS drivers these days seem to think driving past the address is a good enough attempt of delivery. How about parking the truck for once and deliver the package? I was waiting for delivery of a package and decided to check the delivery status online and I came to find that an attempt was made for delivery?!? I was home all day...not once did I hear the buzzer and there was no delivery notice left as well. It seems like home delivery is not an option since UPS drivers arbitrarily make there stops, this has happened to me more than a few times as well. read more

This is a review for the UPS Center on Jefferson, not UPS drivers/deliveries. If you're like me, you probably think going to pick up a package here is going to take 6 hours, and that's after you get to the facility. Happily, that is not the case. I have been here twice in the last week and each time I have been out of there in less than 10 minutes. Here's what you NEED to have to make your life easy: - Photo identification that matches the delivery name and address - Little slip of paper they leave on your door (InfoNotice) - Package tracking number - A good attitude. Be nice to the people who work there and are swamped all day long with crazy people; their default assumption is you're crazy too, but just be polite and you'll get your package pretty quickly. - If you're picking up a package for someone else you must have a letter authorizing you to do so; no letter, no package. (I believe there is an exception if your last name and address are the same as the one on the package, but DON'T take this as a given.) The "center" itself is fairly small, and I imagine this place gets swamped during busy times of the day/year, but they open early and stay open late. All in all a much better experience than I was expecting, and I won't hesitate in the future to tell them to hold my package for customer pick-up. read more

Unfortunately yet another bad Chicago business here. I've had a package stolen at this facility last year - completely MIA and they kept having me come back to this facility for over a week beyond the 5-day delivery deadline when it was clear that someone in this UPS facility had stolen the package. What really pushed me into writing this review tonight was my treatment by one of the ladies in the "customer service" package pickup office. She acted like I was completely invisible after I'd completed the time-wasting "Welcome to Will-Call" form and continued taking forms and ID's from customers who were finishing their forms after me and a gentleman who came in behind me. I had to seriously ask her "am I not here" because I thought I'd died and was a ghost! Her answer was "they were all here before you" which they were not, at which point I took my form and got the heck out of there before wasting any more time arguing with this cretin. It was clear she was going to have me wait until any and everyone before and after me had been taken care of, before getting to me. I've seen other people have problems with this person before, and I have personally had issues with her before such as when she took half an hour to "look up" the same information I had put on the wretched form, only to find that she couldn't read my handwriting (TIP: write in HUGE block letters with big spaces between, otherwise this individual can't read the long package numbers effectively enough to look them up in less than 10 minutes in this time-wasting process). The fact that it on average takes 20-30 minutes for each person to get their packages because of this inane and wasteful process is enough cause to shut down this facility entirely. Customers would get more reliable and timely service by having packages held at the Cook County Jail versus coming to this wreck of a location to suffer at the hands of incompetent and malicious workers who should never be allowed to work with people, animals or any living beings. read more

The customer "service" is atrocious at this location, specifically the will call/employees behind the door marked pickup. I used to be able to pick up my package without having to make a request when a delivery was missed, but the lady scoffed and laughed. In a condescending manner she told me to call ahead next time. Really? It must be so hard for you to have someone fetch you the package anyway while you stand there in front of the computer screen. All the positive experiences I have had on the shipping/service center side have been overshadowed. If I could choose to never use this service again I would. I have never had worse service (and this says a lot as the USPS in chicago has delivered mail 1 year late). The packages are constantly marked delivered and are not; many times the drivers claim either I or my address do not exist; or they fail to read the package and deliver it to other addresses. A few times the drivers have marked it delivered only for it to mysteriously turn up after I have called and complained. Only plus is the lady at the distribution center is nice and she tries to get the drivers to do their jobs (although it is obvious they do not). I have spoken with her over 12 times in the last 5 months-no changes to their service or my issues have been resolved. read more

In Oct of 2008 I purchased a Mac G5 that was shipped to me by UPS. A damage claim had to be filed. The whole process was extremely painful in ways I can't even begin to explain. The item was insured by the original shipper for $1000. After weeks of excruciating calls to the claims department, the check for the minimum repair estimation amount was sent to me. Here's the kicker!!!!!! UPS returned the Mac to me in horrible condition!!!!! Yes, it was now 10 times worse than it was before. Unbelievable!!!!!!!! I wish I could post a picture of what I got back from them after their so called "investigation" process. There's simply no way to express my outrage. The bottom of the eighth inch thick aluminum chassis of this G5 was crushed... front and back!!! It was almost as though it was some sadistic act of reprisal for my claim. Literally, it looked like they had taken a mallet and decided to re-enact a Gallagher stage act. I promise you, this isn't an exaggeration! All I could do was drop my face into my hands and cry. Surely, I will do everything in my power to "continue" to sound a deafening alarm about the insane mishandling of shipments by this "package butcher shop" enterprise. Please believe me when I tell you that you're throwing your money away when you decide to purchase anything that will end up in the hands of UPS!!!! The people are friendly but the company is incompetent beyond belief. I was expecting an important package. Since I knew there wouldn't be someone home throughout the day, I used UPS' new "My Choice" service to have the package sent to my local UPS Store. At the end of the day, the UPS website still showed the package undelivered. I called UPS. They said it was delivered. I went to the UPS Store. They told me that not only was the package not delivered, it had never been loaded onto a truck for delivery. I then spent another forty minutes on the phone with UPS. They told me the package would be delivered the following day (Saturday) to the original destination. Two hours later, the local distribution center called to tell me that it was too late. The package would not go out until Monday and could not be sent to the original address. Since I needed to head out of town, and since the package could no longer be sent to my house, I wanted to send someone to pick it up. Two UPS phone agents said it wouldn't be a problem, so long as the person had the same address as me. Two people at the UPS Store said the package could only be released to me. For the pleasure of paying $5 for the redirection service, my Friday delivery didn't occur until Monday; and, since I was out of town, no one in my family could get the package until Tuesday (four days after it should have arrived). UPS is such a pain. Nowhere near transit. The distribution center's hours are 8AM to 6PM (suburban locations open later... gee, thanks!), which is inconvenient for just about any residential customer. No Saturday delivery. In my neighborhood, the driver makes no attempt to deliver later in the evening to residential customers. I can't stand our UPS. I heart FedEx and even USPS, for that matter. So I am a little upset that they damaged my Macy's package, and now I have to deal with that. The UPS 1800 # was of no help at all, so I visited my local UPS store where the employee told me to call the 1800 #. I politely explained I had done that already and after a little persuading, he brought out the supervisor, Kathy. She was very knowledgeable and helpful. I wish all the employees there could answer questions and deal with customers like she did. She was polite, patient, and knew what she was talking about. What else can I say that hasn't already been said? If you can help it at all do not have your items shipped via UPS. Unless you are 100% certain that you will be home to pick it up. Update - picking up my package was no worse than I expected. The trains and bus were actually faster than usual. The walk from Roosevelt to the pickup office was even longer than I remembered, but at least this time it was daylight and there were no crazy people yelling on the street. I waited about 35 minutes, not bad considering the crowd of other people waiting. The employees were not rude and I think they were doing their best, but many people who were waiting grumbled and said they weren't making an effort or moving fast enough. I don't agree. I've had jobs like that. When management doesn't care (as UPS clearly doesn't) it discourages the workers. When employees rush around it leads to two problems: 1. Rushing through detail work, such as matching packages to people, leads to mistakes. With any kind of detail work it's always better to do it a little less quickly and get it right the first time. 2. They wear themselves out, and being too tired certainly affects a person's work. You can always tell a person who never had a job such as server, shipping clerk, bus person, dirt shoveler - such a person is never satisfied with the work people in these positions do. I'm so glad I'm not privileged and cold like that. :-) read more

This place is horrendous. Not only that the UPS customer service line is horrendously slow as well. Today I've had to take off from work to sit at home between 8am and 7pm awaiting a delivery that never came. The driver reported at 4:09pm, while I was home, that the package was "unable to be signed on 1st delivery". I called the line immediately after the update posted to the tracking information and was told that the driver did attempt to deliver (which he didn't, there wasn't even a notice posted after I checked at my door). Secondly since I wanted my package today, I told the rep on the line I wanted the package put on hold for me to pick up and she said she would contact the center to do so and to be ready for a call back within the hour. That was at 5:47pm. I called back at 8:15pm wondering what happened and was told the request wasn't put in until 7:06pm and that since it was put in after 7pm I would be unable to pick it up until Monday morning. Ironically right when I was told this, the center called me on the other line to tell me the same thing. Safe to say I am extremely upset with this situation and the lack of good service. My package is very valuable and fragile. I witnessed how bad packages are handled in big warehouses like the one mine is apparently stored in when I worked for the company in my teens. I purchased some coffee online to be delivered to a local UPS Access Point (UPS Store) thinking it would be easy and safe to pick up from there. There was no delivery fee associated with my purchase, and wouldn't be, even if I had delivered to my home by UPS. On the delivery day, I got a notice saying that the Access Point would not accept the package and would be in touch with me regarding an alternate address. I called the sender to inquire about this and she simply read to me the same information that I read in the online notice. A week later, after not hearing anything further, I went to the UPS store and found out that the package was "probably" at a hub in Chicago, and I should call the number they gave me. I called and after explaining the situation to the agent, they agreed to send the package to my home for a fee of $6. (For a $43 package). I had the option of delivering to another Access Point for free, but the address I was given was several miles away and inconvenient for me. I believe UPS should cover the cost of having the package delivered to my home since they were at fault in making their Access Point an option for delivery in the first place, then failing to accept it, and not notifying me about how to finally get it. Had I not gone in and inquired, and had a knowledgeable guy in the back of the store not overheard my conversation with a clerk there, I'd still be waiting for it. read more

My complaint is UPS at #314, 4200 Samuell Blvd., Mesquite, TX. 75149. This will be against "John" in customer service; shipping department. This man is the most rudderless individual I have came upon in dealing with UPS. He does not want to help in anyway, avoids eye contact, then when asking a question he will not give you a direct answer. This makes the second time I've had interaction with him. When sending out my package today, 1.11.2021 @ 16:12pm, he asked for my ID I showed it to him then he ask I place it on the counter then ask for my payment I placed my card on the counter, he then had me pick up the card and place it in his hand while he was holding a disinfectant wipe, but when he returned my cards back to me; ID card and my Visa card he placed them on the counter. What an ASS. If you think customer service is suppose to work this way, your in the wrong business. From the looks of it you'll be retiring pretty soon anyway. I normally do not post or write or complain, but this is the second time you have done such as this. Hell, we as in customers pay your salary. Shape up or ship out. You old fort! As far as the Customer Center is concerned, they are actually pretty helpful and try to get you your package as quickly as possible. It is the UPS delivery service that I have had serious issues with. I live in an apartment building, and for what ever reason the driver refuses to ring my buzzer to let me know they are there! I'll come down stairs on my way out and find a notice saying they have missed me! And this happens ALL the time!! Most recently, I received a "missed you" notice, signed it and left it for the delivery guy. On the second day, I did not see my package OR receive a notice. I tried to call, but was told it was "in transit". Yesterday I came home to see a "third and final attempt" notice. So now it looks like I will have to spend my day tracking down a package I signed for three days ago. It is incredibly frustrating! From now on, when I mail packages I always use FedEx. read more

The drivers are so incompetent that they don't know how to fill out the stupid info notices, and I can't believe I just dissed the poor info notice. To make a long story short, the whole purpose of UPS in Chicago is to keep revenues up for the oil industry because they can't deliver packages in less than two tries, and this AFTER you follow their directions on the info-notice. Great story. Driver marks box "A" which means I sign and print my name on the back which means said driver is supposed to leave the package. Does the package get left?? NOOOOOOOOO!!!! The numbnuts at UPS say that "there must have been a special arrangement with the client" that only THE DRIVER seemed to be aware of and no one else at customer service was aware of. THAT'S why the package doesn't get delivered. Are you investors and management reading this? Your right hands don't know what your left hands are doing!!!!! Figure it out customers. These twits leave info notices 3 times even AFTER you follow their directions to leave a package and still, NO PACKAGE. Big oil's gotta big slap-happy face right now because of the gas UPS wastes. UPS IS THE WORST... I've been out of town this week, and today they made their final attempt delivery. I got home at 8:45 pm and saw the notices on the door, and immediately called. The lady said, if I would've called before 7 they could have held it for me. But Now it has to go all the way back to the sender (the other side of the country). I said "surely there's somewhere I could go pick it up." She rudely responded "nope, it goes back to the sender!" "Call the other company, it's not our problem." Then she hung up on me. This UPS location at 1500 S. Jefferson is an embarrassment. The words "customer service" are not in their vocabulary. The call center is not much better. I put in an address change to my work address because they never come when I am home, don't leave tickets, yet the next ticket they leave says they left one previously. (lazy drivers not doing their jobs and lying about it) After several calls (and disconnections) to see where my package was, I am told my name is no longer on the package and that the shipper rerouted the package. I try to tell the toad I am speaking with that it was me who changed the address not the shipper. A vapid vacant silence fills the phone line...I am then told I will have to bring a letter from my employer to pick up my package. So I have them hold the package at 1500 S. Jefferson for pick up-the antithesis for a package DELIVERY company...KEY WORD: DELIVERY. I am told it is at the Jefferson location and available for pick up this afternoon... I go there, and my first observation is the employees talk more than work and then act offended if you ask them a simple question. The dregs of the workforce. I am waiting in a tiny dingy dirty room packed with other unsuspecting customers... The supervisor calls my name-She was nice and pleasant and able to put together whole sentences, but informs me my package is in the building but on a conveyor somewhere and not available for me to pick it up... This is almost as bad as the US Postal Service. I wouldn't recommend them to take out my f-ing garbage, let alone ship a package. read more

UPS has made it impossible for me to pick up my package. This package was signature required. I don't know about most people's households, but everyone in mine works during the day - when UPS tries to delver, of course. So I usually sign the back of the form and have them leave it the next day. Well, apparently with this package that will not do. Ok...so I called them to ask my options. There aren't many. I can drive 45+ minutes to pick it up at their warehouse. I can leave my package with a neighbor. Neither of which are an option for me. I CANNOT sign the back of the invoice for the driver... I CANNOT request them to delver the package at a time when I'll be home I CANNOT ask them to deliver on a different day without a $5 fee...... Furthermore, I attempted going to my local UPS Store to see if I could pick it up there. I was met with totally rejection, of course. I was quickly informed that this was not possible because "UPS store was not UPS, that's in Palatine." Now, why on earth would I think this would be possible to do, and should have expected such crazy convenience?? Easy answer - because Fed Ex makes it available to do just that thing. If they attempt delivery when you're not home, your package goes to the Fed Ex nearest you, and you can pick it up when you get home. Come to think of it - even USPS does this!! COME ON UPS!!! I had the worst experience with UPS today. I had expected a delivery from them on Monday. I waite and waited until about 2.30 that afternoon. Finally I decided to make a quick run. On entering outside I say a notice that ups arrived. I did not hear my door bell ring or a knock on my door. Tuesday came no package or note. I decided to track the package only to see that another attempt was made. Not wanting to miss the last attempt to deliver I put a note on my gate notifying the deliver person to ring the bell because someone is home waiting on the package. I keep checking the window and listening for the bell. It was about sometime after 2pm I notice I saw the ups truck outside. I went downstairs and asked the driver if there is a delivery for me. He said yes. I said so why didn't you ring the bell. Didn't you see the note. He started with an attitude saying he did and show me which of the bell he rang. I said sir you rang the wrong bell. He went in his truck, spoke to someone and drove off leaving me standing there without the package. I was in total shock and still is. I contacted customer service who took my number and say someone will be contacting me. Thirty minutes later someone call saying they have to contact the driver and call me back. Shortly after someone else called saying the driver wont be returning until tomorrow. I asked her why he had drove off without leaving the package. She said she don't know cause she work in the office and not on the road. Imagine that. My biggest question is who are held accountable for these delivery persons actions. Does the customer have any say or if they are lucky enough to get a deliver just sign and go before the deliver person change there mind. SHAME on UPS. Needed a package by yesterday paid for overnight with a return label for overnight and the first package got delayed and Talked to UPS about it and they pretty much told me they do not care. talked to a supervisor she said she would not even try and help. Today is Monday. I have talked to 4 people this evening to discover that my package is still sitting in Toledo "waiting for instructions". What is frustrating is that no one knows who to talk to. Every time I have used UPS, they never leave an exception notice when I miss the driver, the driver NEVER follows my simple delivery instructions, and the "customer service reps." they are the saddest excuse for c.s. reps that I have EVER been in contact with, and I have worked in the customer service field for eight years!! These people do not work with you, they do not listen to you, and seriously, they have NO idea how to SUCCESSFULLY deliver a package. Avoidddd coming here at all costs. You are better off having them deliver your package to your home. They add an extra business day to your estimated delivery day just to "process" your change if in fact you'd like to pick it up at their facility. The customer service ppl over the phone are illiterate, the employees are GHETTO as hell, VERY RUDE, && non communicative. They will only give you your package if you really ask questions and question them as to why your package is "missing" or "lost" in the sorting facility across the street. They have you sit in this small ass waiting room until someone brings out your package on THEIR time. I waited about 45-60 minutes. Just ALL TOGETHER A F**ked up ass Pick up/drop off location. I will NOT be coming back here nor refer this bulls**it place. read more
