Ups lost my package, they have absolutely no customer service. I made numerous calls and finally ups store clerk told me to come in on Thursday evening 9:30pm to 10:30pm to pick up my package. I went in at 9:30pm and ups clerk said they still didn't know when the package was. They had me wait for over 3 1/2 hours while they looked thru the trucks. I left their facility at 12:45 am with out my package. It is now Saturday and I still don't have my package. The worst thing is the clerks working their are very rude. When I left manager a message and requested to have one of the clerks name over the phone to see who I was leaving message with, the lady said you don't need my name and just hung up. Yelp should really have no star rating because UPS truly doesn't deserve the one star. read more

I bought a large item from a store on east coast. it was sent 3 day select. Delay #1: took 5 days to get to this hub in Oakland. Delay #2: tracking said 'An operational error may delay delivery' which means, for some reason was not loaded on to truck for delivery and sat there a day. Delay #3: same tracking code and my package was not loaded onto delivery truck its second day in Oakland. I drove to hub and said I need my package. As soon as guy looked it up he new something was up, but said anything that could be done was call the dispatcher. She kinda tried to blow me off saying that it may or may not be on a truck. After I explained I needed it for work the following day [its monday afternoon and the package was supposed to have been delivered last weds!] She offered to walk around the loading dock for my package. I said its a few feet tall and nearly 90 pounds, u cant miss it. She soon found it and I finally got what I ordered dec 30 on jan 11. 3 delays for a package sent 3 day select. Who knows when I would have gotten it. 5 stars for dispatcher who found my package. 0 stars for everyone else involved with ups gets a generous 2 stars. read more

UPS has to be trying to drive customers away. every time i get a package shipped by ups it's just left at the front gate instead of the door. leaving it by the street where anyone could pick it up. Well this time was even worse. Was expecting a shipment of wine..so needed to be home for signing for it.. waited all day..checked the status in the late afternoon..and was told a delivery attempt was already made. I was at home with the front door open sitting in the kitchen which looks over the driveway. no notice was left..Basically the driver just decided not to bother ( it was Friday)..There was no chance that I missed him. When I called to complain..I was told gee that's too bad...now come drive to us and pick it up or we will send it back to sender. " we'll hold it for 5 business days instead of shipping it back immediately. that's our way of helping you out"....next time I order anything I'll insist on FEDEX. read more

Was waiting on a delivery from UPS on Friday a computer that I ordered for my daughter that is leaving for college this coming Thursday. The stupid driver did not enter my yard or knock on my door. Gave my computer to some random lady in front of my home did not get a signature or anything. This has been the worst experience of my life. I have been waiting 5 days for a package that has been in the hub since Friday. Today is Wednesday. I can't pick it up even though they continue to offer that even though shipping has been paid for. I have called the complaint dept so far 4 times spending an hour on each call. Mostly holding. I have been told my pkg was on a truck to be delivered Between 7-8pm everyday. All to find out at 8 pm to nite after waiting a entire other day that my pkg was never on a truck it has been in the hub all day. No courtesy call and that's after speaking to the complaint dept at noon which told me "yes I assure you it'll be there by 8. Called at 7 just to confirm. And yet again the spin cycle continues. The level 2 rep AKA the supervisor assured me " oh yeah I'm gonna follow up at 8pm to make sure. I will call you back". So I called back at 8:15. Before moving to Oakland, I thought UPS was great and never had a problem. I've had hundreds of packages shipped to me via UPS over the years, living in Indiana, Michigan, and Stockton, CA. Since moving to Oakland eight years ago, I've had one problem after another trying to get packages delivered by UPS, and the woman who works at the customer service desk on Pardee Dr. is extremely rude. I will never do business with UPS, if I can avoid it in the future. This is a terribly unreliable and frustrating service. How can UPS continue to allow such a horrible experience for customers in Oakland. It's almost comical how bad things are here. read more

Have been fighting with UPS to have shipping charges changed. Have been almost a month. Every employee I talk to have given me a different answer. Not one has lead to anything resembling a solution. All I can say is the male customer support employees are much nicer and more pleasent to talk to. If you get a female ask for someone else. Neither is much help, but at least after talking to one of the male employees your day will be a little better. If you want the package and shipping correct and fast then walk it to the destination yourself. Wish I could choose less than one star. read more

Whenever I trusted UPS, it turned out to be a service that never respects its customers. The customer service is also terrible. They put you on hold for hours, and connect you from one section to another one. But neither of them is responsive and responsible. Once my uncle sent me my musical instrument from Cleveland to Vancouver, UPS charged us over $500 (which is the same price as the instrument), and the UPS agents destroyed the instrument, they threw it, and broke it, and they never thought just for one moment that it is an instrument, it is made of wood and strings, and when I called the customer service, they asked me to send them back the instrument for damage evaluation, and then they damaged it ten times more. Such a terrible service! Such terrible agents! Besides, when they are supposed to drop by in the morning for pick up or delivery, they show up in the afternoon, and once I waited for the UPS postman the whole day and he did not show up at all, and the following day, when I was not at home, the UPS postman came and put a note on the door. I cannot tell how many days I did not go to work and waited for the UPS car to arrive. Recently, I did some online shopping, and the company is using UPS to send its packages, and I have been waiting for the package for three days! Thank you UPS for your service, for your insulting behavior, for your overcharging, and for your impolite agents. Thanks for being so irresponsible about people's life. Thanks for wasting our time for hours and days. I am so sorry for such company. You destroyed my beloved musical instrument and charged me $500 for doing that. Thanks! read more

UPS needs to pay attention to a 1.5 star rating. The only reason it is that high is because there is no selection for 0 stars. The entire organization has a serious problem communicating with customers, training employees, and simply providing accurate information. Is anyone at UPS looking at yelp comments? I think not. I shipped a package from out of town to myself and indicated there that I work during the day. She said should would place a note for delivery after 6. After two attempts to deliver (before 6 of course), I called to pick up myself. The person returning the call did so from a number that I could not call back and simply left a message when I could pickup. I didn't really want to pickup at that time because it wasn't convenient, but did so anyway. The pickup location is 20 minute drive from my home when there is a UPS store 2 block away. I went to pickup at the 7:30 pm time dictated by UPS and found they don't open until 8:30. After sitting in the parking lot for an hour, my package wasn't there. I left. Now I have to wait until Monday because all UPS can do is quote me the policy that says why they cannot deliver this package instead of finding a way to accomplish the one thing I paid them to do. I am flabbergasted at the level of incompetence I have experienced through the whole process and the complete CANT DO attitude I got from the entire organization. I sincerely hope someone in management see this and recognized the complete state of disfunction that exists in the UPS organization. read more

UPS is the worst, and I'm committed from now on to avoid doing business with people who ship via this carrier. I hope that the national UPS office reads these reviews, as this pertains to the carrier in general. Like most reviewers, I was home when the first delivery attempt was made. I left a note outside with my phone number, and turned the ringer up and kept my phone with me at all times. My phone never rang, but I got an "attempted delivery" notice. To make a (very) long story short, I've been waiting 10 days for a 2 day expedited delivery, have logged many calls to customer service, and it was delivered to an access point against my will that apparently is a barber shop that IS ANGRY WHEN I CALL ABOUT MY PACKAGES BECAUSE "WE'RE BARBERS NOT UPS". What?! Why did your business apply to become an "Access Point" then? They also keep odd hours that depend on when the last haircut happens, not hours as posted, so I arrived to locked doors and lights out within the time they claimed to be open, after I called. I'm shocked. Meanwhile, I needed these samples early for my own business, which will suffer, and I've taken days off for a package that never came. read more

I know my experience is very different from the other reviewers here and it's likely because of my particular situation: I got here before 3pm on both visits and arranged for will-call, and relabel them to send back out to Amazon. I missed the UPS delivery (2) times and called for it to be at Will-Call (missed the 7pm deadline), but I showed up the next day anyway. I was the only person there and the personnel greeted me, took my ticket, and checked in on the package. She was very helpful in making sure that all (19) packages on (2) different shipments were going to be delivered to their warehouse on Monday (today). I came back on Monday around 2:30pm and was again the first person in, and luckily, got there before they put the packages away, so they brought them out and did their inventory while I looked over the packages. I spoke with the personnel, and she was very helpful in answering my questions on what the best way to relabel them. Other thing is that I had (2) labels for each package: (1) for Amazon, and (1) for UPS. She gave me clear sleeves to put each label in, so I started doing that, and after she got done with her inventory, she started to help me out in putting the labels on the packages. As people came in, she helped them, and then came back to help me finish up. A couple of the other workers helped with removing existing tracking labels and moved them to the conveyor belt to send back out as they got done being relabeled. I'm very grateful for the help that they provided because I expected to be there for 1-1.5 hours doing it on my own, but with their help, I was able to get everything done in about 30 minutes. Several things I've experienced with UPS convey a lack of attention to customer service. I had a package brought to my house while I was home this afternoon. The driver didn't take the trouble to check if the gate was unlocked (it was) and simply concluded that I wasn't available. I was actually home. Never had this problem with Fedex. Then the driver didn't bother to leave a notice of delivery. When I called the 800 number I was told I would get a call from the local facility with an hour. Never happened. I called back and was told the same thing. Again no call. So I figured I would need to just go out there whereupon I discovered they don't open until noon. What business doesn't open until noon?? Fedex opens at 8:30AM. AND they check to see if the gate is unlocked when they deliver packages. The only time they don't leave the package is if a signature is required but they then leave a notice. What's going on UPS? The only reason I can think of is that these problems arose during the holiday season which must be a crazy time for them. But again, Fedex seemed to run smoothly. To be fair, I'm sure that more often than not UPS is on target. read more

If there were a "minus stars" button, I would have pressed it. For 15 years, we have received our online purchases with no difficulty until recently. In the past 2 months, we have received a total of 5 UPS door tags stating that we "must be present to sign" for deliveries of dog food, some bird seed, some Alka Seltzer, and a dog vest. We work, for which we give grateful thanks ;p, but staying home all day to sign for $7.00 bird seed is not an option. So, we paid the UPS "redelivery fee" of $5.00 to have our items sent to a local UPS store. One trip there took us 45 mins for parking and waiting in line. Why do we have Amazon Prime shipping--which is free--if UPS turns around and sends out door tags arbitrarily which, for busy people, means shelling out $$? When I called UPS and spoke to 3 people, the final person said, "Ma'am the driver who left that door tag was being followed and couldn't leave your package." I asked him if that "being followed" issue had occurred both times the driver left the door tag AND why, if he were being followed [which when I asked for clarification was not by a supervisor or the walking dead but by someone the driver felt could take the package] the driver did not notify the local PD have them alerted to this. The UPS person stated that UPS policy precludes that. This is nonsense. I like the UPS drivers on our route that I've come to know--the most frequent one is EXCELLENT and we've talked about where to leave our packages so people can't see them from the street [behind a locked gate and solid fence]. Our main driver is careful where he leaves our boxes and tries to not squash the foliage near the fence, and we appreciate this. But this recent flurry of door tags is a waste of our time, negates the whole idea of "free shipping" for us, and is annoying. Worse still has been UPS's response to this--their love of the phrase "Now I can't guarantee anything" when you call them is unnerving. In sum, UPS has created their own micro economy where they make money off their random acts of door tags, and they should really find a more legitimate way to do business. read more

The UPS in Oakland, and I imagine elsewhere, is absolutely horrendous. A multi-billion dollar company is too goddamn cheap to provide phones to their drivers and therefore none of the packages in my building get delivered, as you cannot get buzzed into my apartment building (you have to call to get let in). Literally EVERY single other company that delivers mail here has no problem (and phones), but UPS NEVER fails to manage to never deliver a SINGLE package here (at least to me). I just wasted my entire day sitting in my apartment because I was told by them that my packages would come today (3rd attempt) and that if I wasn't here they would get sent back across the country (I have had to go to their warehouse FIVE times to prevent this and had something sent back once). They gave me a 6am-7pm time window, 13 hours! And they still never came! I wish I could block them from even accepting deliveries to my house but evidently this is not even possible. If I could give 0 stars I would, I hope this place goes bankrupt. read more

yikes. my next day air shipment was supposed to be delivered thursday. it's now tuesday and i'm still waiting for it. they weren't expecting this many packages in december, so they say... this is probably the least competent UPS center i've ever had to work with and half my job deals with shipments from UPS shipments from all over the country. if you're waiting on the delivery of a package, i'd recommend just setting up a pick up from their store. i haven't tried that yet, so best of luck. read more

Well today I watched as the UPS truck delivered to it's own supervisor down the street. I have reported this over and over to UPS and they do nothing. I had several packages that were late like weeks late. I raised enough cain to receive my packages all around the same time and the envelope was open, my table broken and my packages all rifled thru. I have reported the supervisor over and over to UPS and still they do nothing. This man threw a block party a few months ago and fed about 300 people with music blaring. I did not attend nor would I! The neighbors called the police from 3 streets over to the noise. Who has the money in this economy for this stuff??? A thief does. I have two packages coming with no tracking number issued to me. I know where one went today sigh again. You can thank the Heavens Above you do not live in Birmingham. AL. This man lives in Midfield 35228 in case UPS is reading (praying hands) because this helps the economy you see the ugly head of capitalism in this practice of not giving a chit. The package has to be reshipped and that means the money just keeps spinning around and around UPS's hands.During the reshipping of my table I ended up with two umbrellas which tells me the rest of the set sits down the street. sigh. Only $600.00 but I dare not send it into claims because where would the new one sit.......down the street with my other one.
