I was connected to Upstate Appliance through New Leaf Warranties for the service repair on my LG refrigerator after my freezer died. James was supposed to come out to fix my LG Refrigerator on Wednesday, June 11, 2025. I contacted James that morning via text to provide him my husbands contact information as he would be home in order for the repair to be done. James texted me back 10 minutes later stating he had a migraine and was taking medication to try and get rid of it and he would follow up to let me know if he would be able to still arrive in the afternoon or if he would need to reschedule. I again asked James to reach out to my husband as he was the one working from home for James to do the repair. James never showed up, never called. I attempted to call and text James at 4:00 that day to reschedule. He did not answer nor did he return my calls. Today, through New Leaf Warranties, I was connected with James. As I was trying to express my frustration and need to get the repair done, James hung up the phone in the middle of my talking. When I tried to call back, James did not answer. This is very unprofessional to 1 not show up for schedule repairs and not contact customer to reschedule and 2 to hang up the phone when someone is speaking. I will never use Upstate Appliances in the future after this type of service. read more

In response to earlier post, I take it back. Found out he had death in family and that's why he didn't call or show up. Sorry but I was upset to as had both my dryer go and my roof leaked due to heavy rains. It was a lot to deal with but not the same as his unfortunate circumstances read more

I requested a service call which was answered. upon arrival the technician assured me a control board was bad which was just replaced. I ordered a new one and asked that if that doesn't solve the problem could they return for further diagnosing. once I received the part and it did not solve the issue with the refrigerator I called and left a message. no reply I sent a text no reply I called a week later and left a message again. no reply. so once they took my money they never did the follow-up which was assured to me would be the case. he mis diagnosed the issue then never contacted me back to follow up. very unprofessional in that regard. read more

Our refrigerator died and people were saying they could help us in a week or so ... upstate was there the next day. He's polite, professional, and really wants what's best for you -- he advised against some services because they were close to the cost of replacing the appliance. He's been back to fix our oven and dishwasher; we couldn't be happier. read more

Based primarily on Upstate Appliance's positive YELP reviews, particularly those that praised their speed of service, I gave them a call for an oven door problem I was having. I reached a representative who told me that they could send a service technician two days hence, a Friday. On Friday, I received a phone message that Upstate had to reschedule and asking if Monday was possible for me. I had a Monday conflict, so I called back, did not get an answer, but left a message asking Upstate to call and arrange an alternate appointment. I did not get a call-back. I called twice more and requested a call-back to reschedule, but I did not hear from Upstate. I understand that in this time of COVID, there might be labor shortages, but a call-back to reschedule an appointment would take only about 5 minutes time. And to forestall the "We couldn't reach you" defense, there is a fully-functioning answering machine with my phone, and I mentioned that in my messages. I finally contacted another company, which came out the next day for the repair. I cannot comment on the quality of Upstate Appliance's work, but I certainly would not recommend them for their customer service. read more

Next time you need an appliance repaired and are not handy enough to do some trouble shooting on your own, call Jim at Upstate Appliance. My Whirlpool frontload washer was stuck in drain mode with no error codes showing on the display screen. I was hearing a humming coming from the bottom of the washer and the front door remained locked with no lights appearing on the control screen. The manufacturer's manual was weak at best in describing this condition so no help there. I viewed several YouTube videos which gave me a handful of trouble shooting ideas; 1) Check for drain hose clogging. 2) Clogged screen that catches foreign objects that get thru the wash basin. (not easy item to get to). 3) Removal of the water pump to inspect for damage (again, not easy to get to). No problem with these 3 items and the issue still existed each time I plugged in the washer, the same humming sound persisted. Thinking it may be a control board issue and knowing that would be a big repair bill, I stated to look at new washers online. I did call a few appliances repair companies that would not allow me to speak with a technician to get their opinion. Before making a new washer purchase, I decided to call another appliance service and reached out to Jim at Upstate Appliance. I described to Jim the issue and what trouble shooting steps I had taken. Jim suggested I leave the washer run for about 10 minutes and it may reset. If it did not reset, it would likely be the expensive control board. Fortunately, the washer reset, and control screen lights appeared, and the door was unlocked. Bottom line, Jim could have pressed for me to set up a service appointment but gave me a tip that worked. My 3 yr old dishwasher finished a cycle the other day but left about 1.5 inches of water in the bottom. After referring to the manual, I concluded this repair was beyond my abilities and/or knowledge. I happened to find Upstate Appliance on a search and gave them a call. It was a Friday, mid-morning; I left a message as to what I needed help with. A received a call back within the hour from Jim. He was able to come out a bit later and fixed the issue. He was prompt, professional and knowledgeable. He diagnosed the problem and fixed it within the hour of arrival; he didn't try to sell me more service or repair than was needed. I will happily refer any family and friends to this company!! read more

Jim came over as scheduled (on a Sunday!) and quickly diagnosed and repaired our Samsung washer. I'm keeping this phone number handy. A great find for a reasonably priced appliance repairman. read more

Unfortunately I have to leave a disappointing review. At first we were very pleased that they could come out to fix our dryer right away since our regular guy was tied up for a couple weeks.... so upstate came and fixed the dryer... 2 days later it was not working (after $100s )... they came back, fixed it again...2 days later broken again,... they came back to fix it (after another hundred plus $).. yup... / days late not working!... at this point we are upset!...we left 6 messages over a few days and no call back.... finally they come back again... saying they could replace a part but might take a week to a month to get it... we then reach out to our regular guy at country wide.... he comes and sees that the wrong sensor was put in to the wrong place!... dryer is running great! I will say upstate people were nice... but bottom line I felt it was poor customer service... and they never did fix the dryer... nough said read more
