This is a fun spot and I will return on my returns to Richland for work. I never played a pull tab gamble before, and I won 20 bucks then broke even. I prefer to get there around 5pm and wait and watch the regulars and stumblers waltz in. I can sit at the bar, play some tabs, drink stupid cheap drinks, and get warmed up for an interesting night. There is not a whole lot in the Richland area and this is your divey bar with local flavor and entertaining characters. I came here for karaoke for two nights straight. I am not sure one of the nights karaoke was advertised but it was happening which was fine by me! The karaoke dude plays the local circuit so he is well known as the karaoke dude in Richland. He does need to update his catalog a bit, but he uses somewhat older equipment which limits his ability to get whatever in the internet. I tried doing some Motley Crue, not much to choose from, same thing for Neil Young and GNR. Those are popular bands so not sure why, except the limitation on equipment. You are the dude! Went here to end our brothers celebration of life. My husband ordered coors light. The bar tender came back and said they didn't have coors light on tap. Then he asked to have modelo in a pitcher and The bar tender with the chin tattoo and lip piercings said no. He then asked why and the bartender automatically yelled at my husband when he asked why he couldn't have modelo on tap. Not in a rude way he just asked why. You could tell she was frustrated and so I tried reasoning with her which her even made her more frustrated. This was after 12 of us had ordered and didn't get anything to us after an hour and a half. 2 of our party went to lees Tahitian and had a few drinks before we had even gotten ours. She said she was going to call non emergency and locked herself in the fridge for a minute and said we needed to get out because non emergency was going to come. Once the bartender finally acknowledged us, she rudely said that she couldn't serve us because she didn't see us before 1:00 (it was 1:10), so she wouldn't serve us, even though we walked up the moment after the couple next to us was served. If I could give this place zero stars I would. Me and my boyfriend were the last of 6 to show up. As soon as we walked through the doors the bartender (I'm not sure her name, but she had light hair and a lip piercing) started eyeing my hispanic, bald headed, full bearded boyfriend like he was making problems. Before we even had the chance to sit down with our group of friends she promptly came Over to him and told him he needed to leave because he was "intoxicated" which I thought was strange being that he drank water all night. The other bartender on duty went over to the rest of our group and APOLOGIZED for the other bartending refusing to serve my boyfriend. Worst Bar I've ever been to. Terrible vibes and trashy crew members. Bar tenders treat customers like crap for no reason, one is super mouthy and likes to kick people out over nothing. This is a dive bar just a few blocks (well maybe a 5-10min walk) from my place. I've lived in the Tri-Cities for 11+ years and have always drove by this bar and noticed a crowd of cars and people here, and secretly wondered what it was like inside its doors. The other night, the mystery was unveiled. It was Open Mic Night, and after we plowed through the smokers huddled around the entrance, we walked past a guitarist and stand-up bassist. And yes, this place was fairly hoppin'. We couldn't find a table in the bar area, so we walked cool-ly to the back and managed to find a table near the pool tables. The bartender/grill-woman/bouncer approached us, "Can I see your IDs?" She had a barbell piercing through the bridge of her nose, and had either a Betty Page or Betty Boop style going on---in other words, I liked her style (especially for the conservative Tri-Cities). We had a pitcher and enjoyed the frat boy, adrenalin-filled, screams of the guys playing pool--I could have done without this soundtrack, so I found myself walking to the bar and listening to the music a few times (surprisingly, the musical performances were pretty good). The guy/girl ratio was definitely weighted more toward dudes--so no potential for falling in love here. All in all, Uptown Bar & Grill was all I thought it would be. I'm pretty sure that my first experience with the Uptown bar was an attempt at identity theft. Stopping in just to kill some time, my wife and I figured we would open a tab, have a couple drinks and a snack. Sometimes, people do things so quickly that, even though it's sketchy and weird, we ignore them in the moment. Examining them thereafter, we realize that we may be being taken advantage of in the moment. This is not how I'd like to feel at a bar, and it's exactly how both my wife and I felt after a few seconds of pondering. For this or whatever other reason, I ended up letting the waitress walk away and copy down my entire identification card instead of, you know, the thing literally every other bar does; examine the identity card to ensure it is not falsified or underage (I'm old, there's no chance I'm underage ...) and give it back. After this she returned and made a creepy odd comment about how my license expired in 7 months. At this point I realized I had been foolish and got the heck out of there as quickly as I could. Maybe I'm paranoid, but I will definitely never go there again. Cannot recommend against going here enough! read more

My first time there last night around 9:00 pm. I just walked in and used the restroom. I sat down on a stool and table, after sitting there enjoying and listening to karaoke waiting for my company, this bar tender with long black hair approached me and started saying "are you new here, where's your ID" all disrespectful, then she asked "are you drinking anything?" My reply was yes and that I was waiting for someone first, she then said " you need to order a drink or something " and walked off. I felt so uncomfortable there and my guests haven't even shown yet. This bar tender , whatever her name is didn't even give me a chance to tell her that the other bar tender , some nice girl with glasses who was cooking that night, I ran into earlier that day and recommended this place to me after I mentioned I never been there before. (And I will never return) I felt so disrespected by this girl just because I wasn't ordering anything fast enough. Hey, I had some genuine questions I was attempting to ask after having my water taken away because I smoked a CBD cigarette for my pain and it "smelled like marijuana." The argument was with my friend, so I was attempting to both ask questions in a calm and kind manner (there was a newer girl, Sidney, who can attest as witness to this) and apologize for my friend's behavior. Instead, I was met with the loud response of "I don't care, honey, you can LITERALLY suck my DICK." This is the same dark haired waitress with the black and red checkered shirt who hastily took my water after she was set off by my friend's anger in being asked to leave. I just feel like this is something you should know, as this is highly unprofessional behavior and customer service. I was not a part of what upset her in any way, I was trying to be a kind and genuine person, I was trying to understand and apologize, and I was instead met with interruption, and a request to do something pretty obscene. This isn't the type of person who should be working in a customer service driven field, as retail and service jobs often are. If she cannot handle the trials of the job, she shouldn't be working there at all. She should be spoken to about this disgusting and immature behavior before more customers are driven away. I'm not sure I'm comfortable returning, I frankly feel upset with the unprofessional response I was met with by someone who refused to listen to someone with chronic pain explaining what CBD - something that can be purchased at any standard smoke shop - smells like. C) So drunk that you don't realize you need change for that C-note. D) The cocktail waitress is a friend with benefits. 2) Expect the bathroom to smell like some combination of A) weed and piss or B) piss and weed. 3) You won't be playing any pool unless you know somebody. 4) Your eyes are seeing correctly. A)There are no male employees. B) The girls are hired on the basis of 1b: looks alone, or 2b: favors to management, and 3b: not for qualification or abilities and experience. 5) Keep all folding money in a A) front pocket, and B) not some goober-ish, nylon billfold, with a Velcro closure. Get: Basic Burger and fries ($8.25) Works Burger and fries ($10.95) The Uptown Bar & Grill is a plunge into the pool from the highest of elevations, but somehow manages to charm and impress, despite the shortcomings inherant in this style bar. Certainly amongst its divey peers, it is a shiny star because of the food, the attentive service, the fine selection of beers, and the thin crust of history that envelops it. I believe we're clear that this is a local dive bar, so don't worry yourself over the rusted grates on the bathroom floor or the exposed coaxial cables nesting around an unused computer monitor in the corner. The Uptown isn't trying to win the beauty pagent. Although there is nice metal artwork in the patio area and a very cool mid-century neon sign that dates back to I would say the 50s or 60s (the bar was in operation in 1952). The interior is dark and has a few blackeyes, but there is plenty of seating for small to medium groups, a pair of pool tables, and a computer jukebox with a wide range of songs. I can't speak to the spirits, but the beer on tap is diverse enough to satisfy casual and snooty beer drinkers. You can also walk away with a growler-full if you'd like. And finally: the burgers. How is it that they are so tasty? It defies all logic. But, by God, they are good burgers. Mind you, the buns may be disolved into nothingness by the time you are half-way through, but your stomach will coach you through such trepidation. From the basic to the Works, the waitresses will make a great meal for you on their small flattop grill and fryer. So say what you will about the genre of bar, but this lil' guy is a gem and worth a stop. read more

The mix when you walk in looks like 30 percent baseball caps and it looks a bit rough, but everyone's pleasant enough and there are two pool tables in the back. we were not swooned over nor ignored by the wait staff. maybe a juke box causes a bit of ear pain but did not when i went, maybe i'm lucky. they have several tequilas and they have pineapple juice. The bartenders (both female) were dancing behind the bar, which was awesome. the bar itself looked old and like it could hold me up if i drank to much. the fries i had were good, and they seem to have a lot of options for food. you could go here. you probably wouldn't want to meet anyone, but you could eat something, play pool or play songs. read more

Not my favorite bar. It's really hit and miss on service, some days they really make sure I'm taken care of, and some days I leave before I can get a drink because I'm ignored. I usually come here because of friends that don't want to go to far away. It's the same usual weirdo bar types, the horny drunk old men, the high as a kite loser guys in their 20s and 30s with no job trying to get you to take them home. Yuck. I do like the pool tables there, and that usually where I hide. The food is typical bar food. Nothing special but it works. Really enjoyed a few games of pool here. Kind of tight quarters, but totally a good time! Easily made conversations with people sitting back by the pool tables. Initially the Uptown Bar & Grill is an okay dive-bar but it wore on me pretty quick after a few visits. I don't like the interior as it's very dark and brooding (not in a cool way though). The food is pretty good and the drinks are fine but the bar is far from a taphouse when it comes to variety. I think there were 8 beers on tap? Don't quote me on that but it wasn't a big selection. There are some TVs for sports but they're small and mostly insignificant for keeping up with a game if that's what you're going for. Try the Gaslight instead as they have better TVs and more open space to view games. I don't like some of the clientele though and the inappropriate behavior that is left unchecked at times is a huge turnoff. I was insulted by numerous patrons there while with my girlfriend and I couldn't believe the patrons were so disrespectful to me, sitting only 10 feet away and well-within earshot. I've been to a lot of bad bars, this one is one of the lamest of them all. HOWEVER, the food is good and the staff tends to be pretty on top of things. Everyone says the owner is a royal jackass of a human being (everyone being like 20 people that I know who have personal experiences with the owner). It's been made clear that the owner only hires women too. I'm pretty sure that's illegal but nobody wants to do anything about it. From what I was told: they take applications from anyone but pretty much throw away anything that comes from a man. That doesn't sit well with me. I'm for equal opportunity. If you're good behind the bar, I want you behind the bar. I don't care whether you have a nice rack or you're a Grizzly Adams-looking fella - good service is good service. I find it hard to support this place. On one hand it's an okay place to grab a drink and a bite. On the other, it can have a lot of a-holes and there are some equality issues at-hand that really turn me off.
