Once inside you check in and bring your items to the front counter to be appraised. The store does require that you stay inside of the store while they determine how much money they will give you for your unwanted items. The process was quick for me. Went in to sell some clothes as part of my yearly Spring cleaning. They said I had to wait 30 minutes in the store while they sorted through what they wanted. It was more like a 40 minute wait. I knew I didn't want to buy anything but I still browsed around to kill some time, the selection was a little underwhelming. I got more than I expected to get because I know how these places can be. I opted to donate the rest of my clothes since I was planning on getting rid them anyway. But to my surprise they didn't take (or at least pay me for) a lot of new, tags on, Spring items that I brought in. read more

I discovered this store recently and found things I liked, 2 for me, 2 for my husband. One fit my husband, the rest are too small, will be returned for store credit. I recommend trying on clothes before purchase (I bought a wool sweater, size L, which I think was possibly washed and dried, so shrunken.If I'd tried it on, I would have known it's probably size extra small.) Not sure if there are fitting rooms. The stock suits college age customers, but older people can find things. There are some new items there, most stock fairly priced, I think, though not inexpensive. read more

Went in with two of my toddlers I had a huge amount of clothes to donate . They were very patient and nice . I did call ahead to check how they accepted clothing . I came in around 11 am I had maybe a 15-30 min wait while they went through my clothing . They gave me more than I expected and if I didn't have so many bills due rn I would of accepted the store credit . Super nice and organized loved the staff on hand today as well ! I recently visited and experienced horrible customer service. The staff member (tall white guy) I interacted with was very rude, and this aligns with other reviews I've seen. The responses I have read seem to be recurring and the owner doesn't seem to want to take any responsibility. I would stay far from this toxic environment. read more

I appreciate being able to declutter my closet from a few items I needed to get rid of today. Uptown even offers to donate your items to charities when they can't purchase them. The option to keep it for charity is helpful, but I preferred to select my charity. My clothes had depreciated value too much, and many items were given back to me. Judging by what was kept that I got cash for, Uptown Cheapskate seems to prefer recent (within a year released) items and top-brand items. They took Express, Macy's INC, and Kelly & Katie branded shoes. I could get cash for a few items, but I feel this was not worth my time. I'm using part of it on gas, and I can't get my time back. On the time spectrum, the turnaround was still pretty quick, but for the payout, I'm fine with the standard tax deduction for the annual charity I always donate. Overall the employee who greeted me and assisted me was kind, and there was a really quick turnaround in letting me know what could be purchased. The store seems organized and well-lit, and the fitting rooms are super cute. I didn't buy anything. The prices here aligned with the prices found at the Ross store. Hopefully, that gives you an idea of how much items cost. I saw a few designer shoes there that were expensive. read more

First off, this store has really good items that can be a little overpriced but it's not that bad. I always find great things when I go. The employees here also seem very nice. However, my issue is the cleanliness. Every clothing item that I tried on was covered in dust. When I went in the fitting room there was dust flying everywhere. When I went to checkout there were piles of dust all over the floor that I noticed. When I left there was dust all over my pants and I couldn't stop coughing and sneezing. What I miss most about living in New York is the endless selection of thrift and consignment shops. While on my lunch break today I remembered I had a bag of my 10 year olds gently worn shoes in my trunk waiting to find a new home. Out of curiosity I ventured on in to have my valuables appraised. I didn't spend much on the pair of Adidas or the sandals however they were trendy and very gently worn. My daughter wears women's size shoes and her feet are still growing ! They offered me $10 for the two pairs collectively which is better than $0 donating to God knows who. The layout of the store was very clean & organized however the stench of used clothes is always overwhelming in a thrift store. I arrived and was kindly greeted. I was asked to log in on the iPad and provide my drivers license ID. Cheapskate is a great store for teens and college age students on a budget. This store carries a lot of retail brands and the items are in good condition. They carry a lot of American Eagle Outfitters, Guess and Boutique styles. There is a men's section as well. Prior to coming here I would advise you to weigh your options on where you can receive the best value for your items. read more

The staff let me know they were going to buy 2 out of my 8 items. I had to ask for my other items back and they pulled them from a closet where they were messily shoved back into my bag. The unwanted items should have been given back to begin with. Staff said they could "donate" the unwanted items. I'm like this is not goodwill. I brought two bins worth of my daughter's clothing in around 10am (store opening) on a Tuesday and was greeted by Shania. She made the process of selling clothes both smooth and efficient as she explained the selling protocol (it was my first time bringing clothing in). She suggested I peruse the racks and I also tried on clothes while she went through my bins. I heard my name called about 15mins later and she told me she purchased 9 of my items (which was worth about $22 for store credit). Although I asked her to donate any items they didn't want she said the donation bin was over flowing so she had me take the extras home, which I didn't mind at all. I had to waste 2 hours waiting on them to give me that quote too. $20 for a $150 mk bag, $50 jeans, $60 pants, and a $45 hoodie. I wish I could leave less than 1 star to be honest I've never had an experience like this before and I am honestly baffled, I went on a Thursday morning with my friend I brought 2 bags of clothes and 1 bag of shoes and my friend brought 4 bags of clothes we check in and the girl tells us they can only process 2 bags at a time she starts with my 2 bags of clothes I explained that my bags were first and she said okay I'll put tags on them (which she never did) then she tells us we have to stay in the store the whole time they're processing our clothes, so we start to walk around and the girl that is going through my clothes calls my friend over and begins to tell her (about My clothes) that they smelled like they had been washed and that they had been sitting to long and they had a "bad aroma" (they were literally fresh clothes out of my closet, some even new with with tags?? Not to mention nice name brands) and I smelled them, they smelled like laundry detergent CLEAN and my friend said the same thing my friend asked if she could have someone else sort them and she said that all the employees smelled them and said the same thing. I didn't know that they based the clothes they take off of how they smelled but whatever (even though they smelled like nothing bad, why would I bring in clothes that stink?). They also didn't want to go through my friends bags because she said she "assumed they also smelled bad"... even though she lives in a completely different household. We were truly taken aback and did not know how to respond to this. We drove over 45 minutes to come here for the first time and will never come back. Even if they did have an "aroma" you should never put a customer in that position it was rude and embarrassing. Do better. read more

This store is so full of clothes, and yet the selection did not include anything I would wear. I think the styles are geared more toward college students. (If you're looking for daisy dukes, you're in luck.) That said, the prices aren't all that cheap. You can certainly get deals here, but they're not going to blow your mind. Literally the worst experience I have had at a clothing store. I was told I had to wait with my clothes because they had no way of contacting me. Additionally I was told very publicly in front of all the other customers that I had "trash" in my bin by an employee and was told "Do not bring that in here again". (my trash was two small unopened, unused tampons that probably fell out of a pocket of clothing). I will never recommend this place to anyone, or even bring my clothing or money here again. read more
