Took 3 shirts in to have sleeves altered. Was told $3.00 a sleeve. Well, I told my wife and she says well that is a fabulous price so we went and left them when I came back today to pick them up. The charge was $65. That was more than what the shirts cost I would never ever ever go back to this place for their deceitfulness. Don't give me one price and then when it's time to pick it up, jack it up with a way higher price. I now look at the previous reviews and none of them are any good beware stay away. Terrible. One and only time we will use them. $60 for putting on two basic straps and steaming a prom dress. And it was late. And they never called to say it would be late. And they never even indicated that this one clothing item would be this expensive. Very disappointed. read more

My wife & I have been using Uptown Cleaners since we moved to Hendersonville four years ago. We have always been treated professionally & with respect. I took one of my church aprons that had accidentally had a Kleenex left in it when my wife washed. It came out of our dryer totally covered in tiny pieces of white Kleenex ALL over apron. I took it to the cleaners and he wasn't sure if would all come out. I told him " Oh I bet you can" . I came back 2 days later & apron looked BRAND new, and not a remainder of Kleenex on it. My wife's drapes came back beautiful and ready to hang. We take bedspread and other items to this establishment. They severely damaged my husbands shirt. A man quickly put in our car in the drive thru. When we got home we realized it and I went to the cleaners and the owner said he'd look into it. I went back and he offered free service for the shirt. I emphatically said no I want money. He asked how much it was and I guessed 50$. I went to my car and found the shirt on line and it was a little more than 100$. He refused to give me what it was worth because I said 50$ as a guess. We negotiated on 60$ but that clearly can't buy another one. I picked up my 60$ and proudly told him I will give him a bad review to which he didn't seem to care but I KNOW he did! We have been bringing our dry cleaning here for quite a while and have received excellent service every time. They are always able to give us a quick turn around for my husbands work uniform. We use Park Avenue Dry Cleaners in Rivergate and were advised by Park Avenue that it sends out all its "laundered" items to Uptown Cleaners. Husband's two month old dress shirt had white spots on it after being laundered and starched, which we brought to Park Avenue Cleaners. Park Avenue Cleaners blamed it on Uptown Cleaners. However, we were told by an employee of Park Avenue Cleaners that we would receive a call from its manager but we never did. We followed up on the matter, particularly since they had the shirt for a couple of weeks, at which time we were told the manager / owner of Uptown Cleaners was notified of the matter and would contact us. After approximately two weeks, we never received a call from Uptown Cleaners either. Needless to say, we were not impressed with the management of either company and will take our weekly drycleaning elsewhere. It makes no business sense to loose a long term regular weekly customer, who spends an average of $30-40 per week for services, rather than to take care of a $30 damaged clothing article. read more

I want to make all my local neighbors and friends aware of bad business practices at Uptown Cleaners, 711 E Main St., Hendersonville TN. My husband and I have been taking our dry cleaning to this business for 4 years and have spent hundreds of dollars there. Last week, I brought 3 pairs of pants in to have a waist hook moves over an inch as well as a lightweight jacket to have the sleeves hemmed. The clerk gave me a receipt for $35.00. I went to pick up my order yesterday afternoon. I was told my order was $80.00. My immediate response was that he had my order confused with someone else. No, that was not the case. I was told that my $35.00 price quote was not correct and that my cost would be $80.00. After a 20 minute conversation with the clerk, with no resolution in sight, I called the Hendersonville Police. When the policewoman arrived, she explained that since this was a civil matter, she would be unable to enforce anything legally. She did her best to try to help resolve the situation, but in the end, I ended up paying more than my AGREED UPON/QUOTED price. This business IS NOT focused on customer service, only profits. In fact, I was told by the owner that by paying my $35.00 quoted price, I was "cutting into his profits". If you are a current customer of Uptown Cleaners, BEWARE of bad business practices at this establishment!! They will take you to the cleaners!! read more

We brought my husband's work coat in to be cleaned and it is still dirty. The sleeve is the worst and there is one spot on the front. We called to see if it can be cleaned again today and he said no, the best they can do is tomorrow. I explained that he needed it for work tomorrow and the guy didn't say anything. There was no apology or anything. Side note- they were closed yesterday I'm guessing because of the weather so we weren't able to pick the coat up then. We are headed there now for a refund. Well, I didn't even get a chance to rate their actual service. I went in with a handful of clothes and no one greeted me at the door. The door has a alarm to notify them when someone walks in the door. I waited. Waited. Finally got out my phone while standing there still waiting for someone to at least yell from the back and say "we will be right there", found another place and walked right out. No thank you. You can't even be bothered to come to the front and greet your customers I'm not giving you my money. I am a very disappointed costumer. All i wanted is to get my clothes clean and they failed to do so. I have given them three chances to get it right but they still failed. It seems as if they only iron the clothes but don't clean them. Last time I got my clothes back with the same dirty marks that I brought them. Anyways they lost me as a costumer. read more

I went to this cleaners today to drop off a skirt for a friend. I had been looking for a good cleaners. I had clothes in my trunk for dry cleaning. I took them in the guy said I had to pay before he cleaned my clothes. I ask him why. He said he had to send them out and he had to pay for that! I ask did he have to send my friend skirt out. He replied yes but it's ok. I didn't understand. I told him he should appreciate my business. I ask if it was because I was a African American. He replied please don't think like that. He refused to clean my clothes with out payment up front. I ask for my clothes back and told him I would go to another cleaners. Maybe I need to move back to Northern VA. Or maybe he need to move back to his Country!!! I'm glad GOD doesn't judge us on the color of our skin. read more

I chose this cleaner when we moved here because it was the closest to our house. I've given them multiple chances, but they're losing my regular business due to poor customer service. As another reviewer said, half the time you walk in (despite the "someone's here" alarm on the door) and have to ring the bell to get anyone to help you. Even then, you might still be waiting a while. They're indifferent and even come across as rude. But what finally got me was when I went in, set down $20-$30 worth of clothes to be cleaned, and said I had a pickup. The pickup only came to $4+, so I was told that I had to use cash because my order was under $5. Apparently they aren't willing to pay the $.50 credit card fee on $4+ for a loyal customer. As a small business writer, this is something I advise businesses against repeatedly. I'm all for supporting local businesses, but I'm in search of a local dry cleaner that genuinely cares about its customers. This is not that dry cleaner. Fortunately, there are about 20 others within a ten-minute drive of my house, so I'll find the right one eventually...and they'll get my business for the next 20 years. read more
