I take my dog to Uptown for both grooming and boarding. It is on the pricier side, but that is totally worth it for the peace of mind I have while he is staying there. The staff are so kind and flexible with travel changes (if you need to pick up earlier or stay an extra night) which is really helpful when flying. They have a great pre-check feature where you can give a lot of detail on your dog's stay. I typically send toys that I don't mind losing just as a precaution, but they've never lost anything I've sent with my dog and everything comes back neatly packed in his bag. I don't worry about my baby at all while he is at Uptown. read more

Avoid this place! Disappointing to board your dog for several days, you communicated to them the instructions for care, including 2 cups food a day that were measured out in separate ziplock bags for each day,along with a bone for each night for them to chew while away from home, only to find after pickup in the bag at home all of the bones- so they were not unwrapped at all and offered or given. I noticed my dog's food bags had maybe 10% gone. I know some dogs may be nervous and not eat, but that and the wrapped bones still in the bag?? Also my pooch came home with scrapes of some sort on her chin- they could have at least told us. They have a live camera where you can check in online, each time I did all the like-size dogs were inside together in a playroom. Note that playtime is paid for, separate from boarding fee. They didn't change it up for variety with good weather, low effort. I am left feeling sad for my dog and irritated at the incompetence and wish I had trusted a different boarding facility. I hate leaving bad reviews, alHad the worst experience with this facility. This was the first time boarding both of my babies together. I thought they would've been taken cared of. No Upon committing to book my dogs for their stay, I called and physically went up there to get a price for everything. My dogs were only staying too nights. We were told at the price would be less than what we were charged for at check out. The estimate even showed the smaller price too. Flash forward to picking my babies. The bill was $154 more than the estimate. They charged us for play time we didn't want bc of my one of my babies being in heat. The manager was very rude and didn't even apologize that our dogs were still wet from the check out bath. and their stay was not up to our satisfaction. Nobody offered a discounts to accommodate our dissatisfaction We will not be returning again. read more

I'm very appreciative of the call back and the discount, although, that was not necessary. Unfortunately, the 1hr and 30min drive to and from was still made and I can't get that back. We have a new shelter dog, a 1-year-old, who wants to play with our 10-year old shelter dog--who just wants to relax--so we decided to try doggy daycare. We've never taken a dog to daycare so we didn't know what to expect but we've had a great experience so far. I like that dogs have to pass a temperament test and they have a good amount of staff to manage the many dogs they have each day. And we have utilized their trainer, Christian, for a few little problems with such a young dog, the primary being walking on a leash. It took him three lessons and puppy is walking like a pro on a leash and not jumping on us. My only negative is that it's kind of expensive and I've talked to other pet parents that feel the same. They have a pool for your dogs! This place is like a luxury hotel for your dogs. They can go for play dates or go for boarding. Such an amazing place. Highly recommend. Also, dr. Under New Management! Apparently, everything is totally different now in terms of blacklisting certain breeds. I decided to try daycare again and my two pit mixes were welcomed for the day. Babar had already been there prior to the decision to reject certain dog races, but Poky had never been. I got Poky's report card for her trial day and, of course, both dogs did great. I am so unbelievably happy that ownership/policy/management changes have happened. Babar and Poky will be back to swim this summer! read more

This was my second time here. I have had them groom my toy poodle twice now. $45 for the whole packages which I think is a good deal. My pup looks and smells pretty darn good after he gets groomed if I may say so myself. I love that I can drop him off super early and pick him up late because it works around my work and personal schedule. The building is nice and the inside is beautiful. They have a vet, a pool, boarding, grooming and daycare. If only they had training it's a one stop shot for your pet. read more

I did not have a pleasant experience the first time boarding my dog there. But I think 2nd chances should be a thing. I took my pups back and they were interacting with other pups checking in. They had me fill out questionnaires about my pups and how they are around other dogs only to inform me at check in to evaluate and allow the extra play time I would have to pay even more $53 for the first and $47 for the second and that doesn't include the play time. But I could have one on one with them if I didn't want to pay for the extra evaluations. Just disappointed that things are not on the website and when checking in they have nothing down so you have to ask and schedule even though you already did. read more

Uptown Hounds is on the pricey side, but the facilities are very nice. We use them doggie daycare for our German Shepherd. He loves it! He always falls asleep in the car on the way home which means he played hard all day. It's convenient for me to drop him off on my way to work. They are open til 6:30pm in the evenings so even if I have to stay a little later at work, I can still make it by to pick him up. They offer day care packages so you can get a bit of a discount if you multiple visits in advance. read more

We wouldn't take our 3 pups anywhere else. Uptown Hounds staff goes the extra mile to make them comfortable and safe; even with our fearful pup, they show patience and love. It is such a relief to see how happy the dogs are when we arrive. Love the amenities they offer and they do well checks and report any concerns immediately. Our girl one had some ticks they found on her (we live on a heavily wooded property), took pictures and sent them to me. Followed with a bath to make sure she was clear. Just know your fur babies will be loved and well cared for. Also as a side note, the on-site vet is great too! read more

Uptown was great. My dog, lab-pit mix, doesn't do well at most boarding facilities and it is hard to find places that I feel comfortable boarding him at but Uptown was amazing. The facility is well set up and all the people are extremely friendly. When I picked him up all the staff were saying how sweet he was. There are a ton of options for additional services like treats, additional playtime, and big rooms. The flexibility of drop off and pick up times means I can pick up my dog when at other places he has to stay an extra day. The reports at the end of the visit are great to understand how his visit went and how great the staff are in making my dog feel safe. read more

This was my first and only experience I will have with this company. My first time my one year old beagle mix had been boarded, they did nothing that I requested including daycare which I dropped off at 6:30 am to be evaluated for per the receptionist informing me to do so. When requesting not to be charged for the pictures that were apart of the package I chose and did not receive they offered a credit of 4$, making it only a dollar a day for not doing what was part of what they offer as part of cost. When my girl was brought up to me after four days being apart I asked my dog "did you have fun" and the employee word for word stated "I wouldn't call it fun. She's very anxious and was a door darter. She tried to run out of the door a lot." Not one kind word, my sister was filming our reunion and was in such shock someone would say such hateful things to someone about her pet. My dog being so young and of a playful breed loves to play with other dogs and loves people. She is very anxious alone which is the number one reason I picked this facility so she would be interacting all day with other dogs, when I asked the employees if she was in daycare they all pointed the finger at one another saying "well I'm in the hotel" staring blank faced. Not one person could tell me what my sweet girl got during her stay. The only information shared was that "she likes peanut butter" and that she had social interactions twice per day. If you love your dog as a family member DO NOT take them here. Left the building crying with no answers after spending a deep pocket of money. This company definitely hires bodies over quality as no one showed any concern or compassion as to how my dog was treated, nor had any answer to what she even received during her stay. Leaving this a day after my experience to calm down. When booking I over heard another mom yelling at the front desk per how her pet was treated, although I do not agree with her reaction I wish I would have listened and gone elsewhere so my girl would have actually had the services requested and not been alone for four days. read more

I had the worst experience at Uptown Hounds. First of all, this is the most expensive boarding I have ever used so I had high expectations. My dog was boarded for two nights and at check in I was informed he would only have 3 potty breaks per day unless I added on extra charges and services. I payed extra money per day just for my dog to receive pets (which all dogs should automatically get at boarding?) when I picked my dog up his legs were covered in urine. I don't even know if they let him out for potty breaks. I also don't know if he even received the extra services I paid for as there is no proof. My dog has been throwing up and having diarrhea for the last 3 days since being picked up from Uptown Hounds. I am outraged at how he has acted since boarding. I have boarded him at another place in the past and he was so excited to be there and acted unbothered when I picked him up. But after uptown hounds he seems traumatized. I feel like this company only cares about the dogs that use the service for doggy daycare but the dogs who are boarded are given absolutely no attention when it should be the opposite. And to pay so much money for my dog to be having diarrhea non stop since picking him up (he has never had diarrhea once in the year I have owned him). He will never be going back to this place. They were rude at check in. I hate how secretive everything feels and you don't even get to see where your dog is staying. Overall it was the worst experience. At previous boarding facilities that I have taken my dog they had played with him all day, let him play with other dogs, called me daily, texted me photos, posted photos on their Facebook. I was astonished when uptown hounds showed me I must pay $8.25 per day just to have TEXT updates and photos of my dog. And paying for "pets" blew my mind. This should be included and not an add on. I used to like this place, and when they first opened we brought our dogs here and the facility is very nice. We have both boarded them and took them to daycare. But in April they raised the rates to $30.00 a day for the daycare plus an additional cost if they want to use the pool. In think they raised the rates for boarding, too. I do know that even if two dogs share the same room, but need to eat separately, they charge you $8.00! Really? That's a good lunch or dinner for me. We have been taking our dog to daycare at Uptown Hounds for almost two years now, and have also boarded with them several times. We have experience at several doggie daycare places in a few different cities, and we think Uptown Hounds is fantastic. Always professional, always welcoming, they have fully earned our trust and respect. They have indoor and outdoor play areas, and there are grooming and independent vet services available as well (we are very pleased with Dr. Mindy Johnson, especially). It would be great if they were open for daycare on Saturdays too, but otherwise we are very happy with our experience there. read more

Heard a lot of good things about Uptown hounds so I decided ( despite the expensive pricing ) to board our 6 month old Terrier while we went on spring break. Checked in on her a couple of times while we were away and was assured she was doing great. However upon picking her up I was shocked to see how she looked and acted. First thing I noticed was how disheveled and matted her coat was. When I asked the attendant if they had bathed her before her pickup, as this is usually common practice with other boarders I've used, she said, and these are her exact words, "no but i did rub in a dry shampoo so she wouldn't smell so bad". Really?? Her disposition was even worse as she seemed to be in somewhat of a daze. When I questioned the attendant about her stay, she sounded very coy and illusive with her short and abrupt answers. Once we returned home our normally playful and energetic dog was anything but herself. She could hardly raise her head. It makes me seriously wonder if she had been sedated. We bathed her immediately and the tub was filthy afterward. She wouldn't eat or even drink water the entire day. Fortunately she seems to be coming around today even though she still has no appetite. The worst part of the whole thing is not really knowing what went on for those seven days she was there. Needless to say she won't be staying there in the future. I don't normally write reviews for any businesses. But just felt very strongly about this experience. I am so grateful to Uptown Hounds for providing top notch care for Icie. As a puppy she had a tremendous amount of energy and Uptown provided a wonderful environment to play with her friends. She is nearly two now and her time at Uptown Hounds ensures that she stays happy and fit. Her days at Uptown have helped to ensure that she is well socialized. The staff is knowledgeable and professional and they truly love what they do. They maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and care. When I drop her off in the morning she never looks back and will bark if I spend too much time talking to the staff. She can't wait to get back to see her friends. At Christmas they sent home a card with Icie posed with one of the staff members dressed up as Santa. The look on her face was priceless! I took my afghan hound to this business several times in the last 2 years without any problems and even did training through this company. However, last Spring, I had my dog boarded while I went on a trip to Seattle for about 5 days. He had a few small mats on his neck, legs and stomach, so I asked the groomer there to work through them, telling her that if she had to shave the mats, I was alright with starting over in those spots. I returned on Monday to find them still not done with grooming him, so I waited an extra day to pick him up. When I came for him on Tuesday, I found my dog shaved bald all over and I don't just mean that his fur was shorter, he was shaved to the skin and even had some open sores from being nicked by the razor. Even areas that could not mat like his beard, tail and whiskers had been shaved to the skin, and all without informing me or talking to me about this drastic decision. The most sickening part is that I talked to the groomer on the phone on Monday while she was shaving him, she just told me she was finishing up with his grooming but she never mentioned that she was hacking off all of his fur. I was so taken by surprise on their decision, that I told them that they had brought the wrong dog when they initially brought him out. My boyfriend called later the same day to complain and was told that after the owner and groomer (who were not there at the time) were contacted, we would be called by the business but they never returned our call. Now, I am filing a BBB complaint and Uptown Hounds employees seem unable to tell the truth. One employee, the manager, states that I told them that shaving my show dog was "for the best" (he wasn't even in the room during the conversation!) and the man who answered the phone when we called to complain is stating that he told us to call him back later but never received a reply, which makes no sense given the situation. Making a mistake is one thing, but in my opinion, the true businesses to watch out for are the ones that refuse to admit that a mistake was made on their part. ****EDIT**** Throughout the BBB dispute, this business refused to admit that they had made any mistake. After it had ended, I figured I would post reviews to warn other customers to be careful of this business and get on with my life. However, today (several months later) I received a threat in the mail from this company. They have asked me to remove my reviews and are threatening to try to get me jail time for telling others about what they did to my dog. I have lost all respect for this company and am starting to wonder if they have been successful in hushing bad reviews in the past in this bullying manner. I personally would never consider trusting them with the care of a family member again.
