The staff are so kind and flexible with travel changes (if you need to pick up earlier or stay an extra night) which is really helpful when flying. They have a great pre-check feature where you can give a lot of detail on your dog's stay. I typically send toys that I don't mind losing just as a precaution, but they've never lost anything I've sent with my dog and everything comes back neatly packed in his bag. I don't worry about my baby at all while he is at Uptown.

My dog immediately choked up kibble, and within about 30 minutes of getting him back to my hotel, I had to request input from my vet back home and immediately take him to the ER Vet where he had to spend the next almost two days. He had aspiration pneumonia. They of course denied the entire thing and when I went in to view the camera footage they had, they had a clip of the footage that was about 1:30 seconds long that had been cut to not show me going over to my dog where he has choked kibble up. I called immediately when I got to the hotel room, as I didn't want to react immediately due to the emotion involved. They of course have denied everything. I've stayed quiet about this incident for almost a year now because I honestly thought maybe they'd own up to their (maybe) mistake and do what was right and help cover what I had to pay for. I am active duty military and have to travel to Lexington frequently for clinical. I trusted this business with my furchildren and they failed. I just truly hope that next time this happens, the outcome isn't different. Had I waited until the next day to take my pup to the vet, he most likely would not have survived. Within hours he was on oxygen at the ER vet. I've been dealing with their insurance company since January and they will not be covering anything. This is honestly, the outcome that I expected, as both Uptown Hounds and The Hanover Group did not display much professionalism. The worst part is, they won't even refund me the amount of services that I paid for and will never receive for my dogs. I truly hope no one else has to deal with this situation.

Writing this review while a bit upset. We are from S. Carolina and decided to go to Lexington to…read moreattend Keeneland Racetrack. We own a 14.5 lb. Shih-Tzu, and we had to do something with her while we went to the track. I found Dogtopia on the internet and it sounded ideal for keeping her for the day. I set a time for a meet and greet which was scheduled the day of boarding. We arrived and filled out paperwork. We noticed a large room with maybe 30 dogs of all different breeds and sizes. We were told this was not normal as they usually separate large and small dogs. Anyway, they asked us to sit for a few minutes while they judged how our dog would fit in. We were informed our dog failed their test and they would not be able to keep her. We were told our dog actually bit (nipped) the employee and did not interact well with the other dogs. Our Shih-Tzu does suffer from anxiety, and she does get aggressive when frightened. In that environment, there is no doubt she would be scared. I don't doubt anything the employee said but we told him she was crate trained and I noticed two small dogs in crates. It blows my mind while they didn't keep her in the crate for the 6-7 hours they kept her. Needless to say, we did not get to Keeneland and headed back to South Carolina a day early. We did not get a chance to comment on the care at Dogtopia. Please be aware if you decide to use their services, there is a Pass/Fail test as part of the meet and greet. In addition, we used the services of a doggie daycare in Myrtle Beach, SC when our dog was several months old. What we observed at Dogtopia did not measure up to the standards of the Myrtle Beach facility.

My dog loves to go here. They treat her very well. She has fun playing with the other dogs.read more

Her property really shows how much she cares about the pets she takes in for daycare and overnight. She does pick up and drop offs conveniently located off I75. Her prices are very reasonable and it's much much better then traditional boarding places. Here the dogs are out majority of the day playing and being dogs! I will not take my dog anywhere else! Thank you Marlize!

We…read morediscovered K9 Safari when searching for a place that we could board our German Shepherd with severe separation anxiety. He was a rescue and standard kennels are a 100% No Go for him. We went and checked out the K9 Safari facility and were impressed with the spaces provided for the dogs to play both inside and outside. Despite the facility being in Richmond, Marlize makes drop off and pick up convenient for clients by offering drop offs right off I75 or at various locations in Lexington. My two Shepherds get excited when they see the doggie bus pull in and they hop right in. That tells me they are happy there and I don't feel bad having to leave them when we go on vacation. She regularly sends pics of the dogs to us via text so we can see how much fun they are having there. I often say our one Shepherd is actually sad when she has to come home because she only has one dog to play with at home vs lots and lots of different dogs there. I recommend K9 Safari to everyone who is looking for somewhere to board their pups.
