I originally gave Half Price Auto a good review. That was before they killed my Toyota Minivan. I…read morewas leaking oil and they "fixed" the leak by replacing a hose at a reasonable price of $100. I was sent on my way and a few days later drove to far Northern Wisconsin. In the middle of nowhere my check engine oil light comes on and seconds later the front end is smoking. I stopped and called for the inevitable tow truck. It was brought to their Shop and the mechanic informs me Half Price Auto used a standard hose where a high heat pressure line should have been used. This mechanic indicated it was a "no brainer" and any mechanic would have known not to use the hose Half Price Auto used. To worsen my situation, the engine was trash after the oil quickly drained out at highway speeds. I went back to Half Price Auto and they offered to do nothing to compensate me for killing my engine. They suggested I have the car towed 4 hours to their shop where they would look at it and decide if they used the wrong hose. They said they would consider splitting the cost of putting in a (used) engine. No, how about you contact the other mechanic or any other mechanic to verify you used the wrong part. How about you pay to tow the car back. How about you pay to replace the engine destroyed by your error. How about apologizing for your mechanics mistake? I guess that's what I get for trying to find Half Price Auto repair.

I have been there many times within the past 3 to 5 years and have never been disappointed. The prices were reasonable. I was fully informed of everything that was done to my car which was always fixed on time and often ahead of time. The reason and behind the one star review is that customers were not notified that they were permanently closing. I was in from minor adjustment the week of Christmas and no one ever said anything to me about the closing. Now I have to go out and find another repair place that treats customers just like I was treated at Wright Auto Repair. Come back Harley. Come back!

He explained what was happening over the next hour, and he let me know what else would be checked on in case anything was out of the ordinary. After about 40 minutes, I got a text with a link to a video explaining what the technician had examined in the car. It showed some additional repairs would be needed soon. Zee then came out to explain anything I needed to know about the recommendations in the video. Since I didn't have time for the additional repairs, I explained I'd be back in the next week or two. Zee said they would finish up my car in the next several minutes and then I could pay my card in the service area. I was in and out within an hour. The wait was made easier by the subdued pace and volume in the enclosed waiting area. I easily found a table where I could do my work as I waited. Thanks, Zee.

We asked them to put the keys in the car and leave it unlocked as we would pick it up after they closed. When we got there the car was locked. The sales team called the rep to determine where our keys were. He told us he locked them in the car. We had to drive an additional 40 mins round trip to get a spare set of keys (luckily we had one) otherwise we wouldn't have been able to pick up the car until Monday, the day after my son had to be back in Iowa for work. The place I used last year - no longer does it, the place I used the year before - no longer does it. I had to search & make a few phone calls before I found a place. Quick and efficient, the state does not seem to pay facilities to do these emissions testing enough for them to continue from year to year. It pretty much brings folks to establishments, which in turn, brings awareness of the business. My vehicle is not that old, still under warranty. I would love to support this shop, once I don't have warranty coverage. Next time I need emissions they probably won't be doing it. Our state needs to support the effort better.
