On our way to a hike in Thompson, we stopped by for a couple of sandwiches. We usually frequent Renee's Bistro, but they were closed on Sunday. There was plenty of street parking since it was Sunday and three people waiting inside when I arrived. We ordered a couple of simple deli sandwiches with cheese, lettuce and mayo, figuring those would be fast and easy. As I walked over to a table, I noticed that some of the chairs were still on top of their respective tables, and the floor was sticky. I hate sticky floors, and then recalled they were sticky the last time I came here, perhaps a year ago. But my order was in and paid for, so I grabbed a seat. After 10 minutes, I went outside for a few minutes. The three people who were waiting upon my arrival, were still there. Two more had arrived a moment earlier. Five more minutes elapsed, and I peaked inside and noticed nothing had changed. I was in a deli time warp! After a generous 20 minutes, our two sandwiches were ready. They were large, the rolls were soft, they were pretty good. That said, Uptown could benefit from some improved throughput, and a good floor cleaner! read more

Great spot to find an excellent sandwich! My friend and I stopped in last week to give them a try after seeing such awesome reviews on Yelp. We arrived shortly after they opened on a Friday morning and I asked for recommendations, the Reuben was one of the recommendations so I opted for that. My friend was not eating meat that day (Lent) so picked the egg salad and onion rings. I was very happy with my selection of the Reuben, it was delicious and loaded with meat. I also tried my friends onion rings and they were very good. The place is right on the main road through Putnam and I've probably been by it 50 times and never noticed it. They have a fairly large size dining area if you choose to eat there. I will definitely go back again. read more

Was in CT, driving back home to RI, and decided to make a stop at Uptown Sandwiches. The menu was extensive and everything sounded amazing. My husband and I decided to get their nachos which were on special, the pilgrim (thanksgiving) sandwich, and a steak and cheese sandwich. I'll start by saying, we're big fans of nachos and these exceeded our expectations and could possibly be one of the best we've had. Smothered in toppings and still having the perfect amount of crunch! Unheard of. Usually you would get loaded nachos with soggy chips. Not these! Regarding the sandwiches, you could tell everything was freshly made down to the bread. Also, these sandwiches weren't like your typical chain restaurant serving. They were loaded with meats and toppings! Not only did we have lunch for today, but will for tomorrow as well. Thank you Uptown! Been 2 years since my first review, and so glad that nothing changed since my visit, they still earn 5 stars. Very friendly and helpful. When ordering, the order was read back to us, so there's no reason not to get it right. Our grinders, both Italian, were perfect. I had mine toasted, and it was toasted just right. The menu has a excellent variety, and they still have 3 sizes. If you can't decide what you want, the. You really are not in the mood for a sandwich. We choose to eat in, and our meal order came out reasonably quick, considering people were coming in at a good pace. This is a good example of starting right, and not changing a thing. read more

A hidden gem!!! My household tries to order from local restaurants at least once every two weeks during quarantine which allowed us to find the best sandwich shop I've ever gone to!!! We ordered: large chicken parm sandwich, large turkey bacon and cranberry sandwich, large honey mustard sandwich, and two broccoli pies (they ran out of spinach pies) for a total of $41.87. While the pictures may not look like much, the flavor packed in them is mind blowing. The chicken was perfectly cooked, the bacon was nice and crunchy, and the broccoli pie was to die for. There was only one man working when we picked up our order and he was very kind. Unfortunately, you have to remind him ahead of time to add a tip to the order before cashing out - I was lucky and had a couple dollars left in my purse to add to the tip jar. My boyfriend and I split the large HM sandwich and one of the broccoli pies... between both of us, we finished one pie and less than half of the HM sandwich. To have half a sandwich and half a pie fill up my 6'7" boyfriends stomach was unreal. We can't wait to go back (& eat the leftovers!! )!!! read more

I have been going here since it opened. I have tried about five or so different sandwiches and have found everything to be really yummy. My favorite by far is the honey mustard sandwich. One couple ahead of us when we went in. Girl at the counter was brand new, as in one day in, and she, understandably, had trouble with the credit card machine and I had to go up a second time to re-ring it. We waited half an hour for our meal because there was only one guy cooking and he had to come help her with the machine. Despite having to wait the food was excellent! Bacon was crisp, rolls were soft and toasted, French fries were so-so, not crispy enough for me but hot. Wasn't expensive so that's a plus too! read more
