So happy to have found this veterinary hospital in Uptown Charlotte! Dr. Larson & everyone else here is wonderful beyond words. My 2 boys are treated like family every time we visit. Since my babies (Bichon Frise & Cockapoo) just turned 11 in February, we are having to make more frequent visits. However, they happily go inside without hesitation. The facility is super clean & easy to access with free parking. Jake & Smitty decided this is five stars...and they are never wrong!

I never post reviews (and in fact, writing this review was the catalyst to my active use of my Yelp account and my first ever review) but having just moved to Charlotte and gone through 3 different vet clinics, I HAD to post a stellar review of Dr. Jen and Vetwerx. Concerned fur mommy. I have been a dog owner for almost 15 years, with a total now of 4 fur babies. I recently got an AKC registered Yorkie (we named her Charlotte) from a dog breeder because I wanted to make sure that my puppy wasn't born in a puppy mill or that she wasn't inbred and would have a slew of cruel "teacup" genetic health issues. Therefore, Charlotte's overall health and quality of life is a MAJOR concern and priority. Other vets. I started going to a vet in Southend but during a bandage change after she broke her toe, Charlotte screamed and started limping following the visit. I had taken her to an emergency vet clinic for the broken toe during a weekend and although they were very responsive and friendly, they seemed overpriced. ++ Vetwerx genuinely cares and it shows. After the last bandage change, I decided to change vets to Vetwerx and was SO glad that I did!!! Dr. Jen showed me where Charlotte had her X-ray taken and was extremely gentle with Charlotte during the visit. The next day, Dr. Jen personally called to see how Charlotte was doing, which was extremely thoughtful. ++ High level of TLC. Charlotte seemed to be limping after her bandage was removed so we went back to Dr. Jen. Dr. Jen took a comprehensive X-ray of Charlotte to show me that Charlotte's toe had healed perfectly. Dr. Jen explained that Charlotte must have some pain so prescribed pain medication. She put the pain meds in individual syringes so that the doses didn't have to be measured out. ++ I trust Vetwerx. I am thoroughly impressed with Dr. Jen and have absolutely no reservations with taking my precious Charlotte and entrusting her in the very capable and caring hands of Dr. Jen and her staff. If you're looking for a reasonably priced vet, extremely new and clean facility, and want to rest assured that you're in good hands, I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Jen. Again, I never write reviews but felt galvanized to do so because Dr. Jen exceeded my expectations for a vet. One month update: Different visit; different symptoms; same high level of patient care. Charlotte came down with a respiratory infection and we had to come back for another visit. ++ Least invasive methodology. Dr. Jen tries the least invasive option first and then progressively increases the treatment protocol, as needed (some vets will go straight to the most invasive, most expensive option first, to pad the bill). Also, sometimes going straight to the most invasive treatment can be the most harmful by taking unnecessary risks. If you had a heart condition, you would try taking a beta blocker first (cost $100) before getting a stent before having bypass surgery (cost $100,000+) because maybe the beta blocker is all you needed; so trying surgery first would have subjected you to infections, substantial recovery, inordinate expenses -- all for nothing. ++ Triage emergencies. When I mentioned that Charlotte was having trouble breathing, they told me to come in right away, which is reassuring knowing that they will triage even though they're not an emergency clinic. She received the same care, thoroughness and attention this time as she did the first. Dr. Jen also took the time to carefully explain treatment options and pointers on giving Charlotte CPR, just in case. ++ Easy access to health records. When we left to go to CA, Dr. Jen emailed me Charlotte's health records in case the breathing issues aren't alleviated. 9.4.2016 Update. Charlotte came in to get spayed and like all the previous visits, she received the same level of TLC. We had Charlotte's microchip implanted and nails cut also. ++ Communicate test results. After her blood was taken the previous day, Dr. Jen called to inform us that Charlotte had a clean bill of health to safely proceed with the surgery. ++ Updates. Immediately after the surgery, the staff called to let us know that the surgery went well and that they wanted to keep Charlotte for observation. Dr. Jen made sure to give her extra pain killer shots around the incision to reduce Charlotte's post-op pain, which is greatly appreciated and just gives us the peace of mind that the staff really cares about our pup. ++ Contact even after hours. They gave Charlotte a cone for pherrets because she's only 3 pounds (haha) but it is preventing her from licking at her incision. Dr. Jen called the day after the surgery to inquire about your Charlotte's recovery was going. She assured us that although they would be closed for Labor Day, she checks her emails for non-emergency issues. The Vetwerx personal touch and genuine TLC gives me assurance that we are entrusting Charlotte's health in the right hands.

Dr. Jen and her staff are always upbeat and professional. Thanks for the great service you provide for me and all my staff at Uberdog Training.

I recently got a new puppy who is twelve weeks old. I was searching around for a vet and ended up calling Uptown Vet. I spoke to Megan (who is so sweet) and was able to set up an appointment that week. Unfortunately the day I set up the appointment my puppy started spitting up her food and her breathing was a little off (I assumed cause she was playing too hard) but being the anxious person that I am, I called the vet to see if I could get an earlier appointment. I spoke to Shannon and she was amazing. There were no earlier appointments available but she said she would call me if something opened up. No less than thirty minutes later, they called me and set up an appointment for the next day. My baby sees Dr. Matheson who is so nice. I called with some follow up questions and he and the staff were extremely helpful. I even had a question about some small scabbing on my baby's tummy so I emailed them to the vet and someone gave me a call. I know I am anxious and want to make sure my baby is as healthy as possible so I am thankful that the staff is always willing to help answer my questions. My experience here has been amazing and I plan to keep this my baby's vet forever!

Wonderful in every way! Everyone was so nice and caring and now my new "rescue" has a new Beginning! My son came home with the cutest/sweetest "mutt" a couple weeks ago and one smell of her breath - you knew there were some issues. After receiving a couple estimates for dental work in the $1400 range - I had concerns and reservations as to what to do. Vetwerx greatly helped complete this "rescue" by offering a great Deal for a fraction of the estimates I received elsewhere. I have no doubt the treatment was equal to or Superior to any other treatment she could have received. I have no reservation in saying you will be carried away with Vetwerx and their staff! Wonderful in every way!

When we first started coming here, it was fantastic. The staff were attentive, and both my pets and I always felt comfortable walking through the door. Unfortunately, over the past year or so, things have really gone downhill -- it seems to line up with when the practice switched to a new system. The front desk/admin team specifically has become a consistent problem. They rarely seem to know what's going on, and I've been asked basic questions (like whether my pets are on any medication) that should be right there in the chart before we even start talking. On more than one occasion, staff have mis-gendered my pet -- which is a pretty simple thing to double check. Beyond that, I've had to follow up multiple times just to get test results or other updates that should have been communicated proactively. I've also been billed for services that were never actually performed. Wait times have gotten progressively longer with each visit, and the cleanliness of the facility has noticeably declined. More than once, it seems like the team simply forgot I was there -- either waiting for discharge or waiting to be checked out of an exam room. To be clear, the veterinarians themselves are wonderful. They remember my pets, clearly care about their wellbeing, and I have no complaints about the actual medical care. But the surrounding administrative and operational issues have made it hard to trust the practice as a whole, and I don't feel confident continuing to bring my pets here. I'll be looking for a new vet, which is disappointing given how good things used to be.

When I booked the appointment, I made sure to mention that he's an older, asthmatic cat. I would have expected that information to prompt a few more questions -- about his temperament, how he handles, whether sedation might be needed -- so the visit could be planned accordingly. Instead, it seems like this only came up as a problem once we were already there. Two male vet techs took my large, senior, asthmatic cat back for his exam. They were friendly, asked good questions, and seemed genuinely interested in understanding my cat before taking him for vaccines and bloodwork. About 10-15 minutes later, they returned with Dr. Foreman. She walked in without introducing herself or asking who I was, and opened with, "What a grumpy cat." She then told me they'd given the vaccines but couldn't draw blood, clip his nails, or do anything else I'd requested, and suggested sedating him for a follow-up visit. I was caught off guard -- my cat has had blood drawn and nails clipped at previous vets without issue. She explained he was breathing hard and being aggressive, and that she was concerned for her staff's safety and his. That's a reasonable concern on its own. What wasn't reasonable was that she never came to discuss it with me directly or explore alternatives before deciding the appointment was over. I explained that I don't drive and had relied on a friend to bring us in, and that getting a large, older cat into a carrier isn't simple. Her response: "Well, at least he's legal now" -- referring to the state-mandated vaccine. No acknowledgment of the situation, no empathy. When I said the bloodwork was the most important part of the visit given his age, she said, "I could have just done something and then be coming back here to tell you he's dead." I called out how hostile that comment was, and her tone only became more dismissive from there. This was, by a wide margin, the most unprofessional interaction I've had with a veterinarian. I won't be returning, and I'd urge anyone considering this clinic to ask specifically who they'll be seeing and stay clear of Dr. Foreman.
