Since getting my dog Whiskey, we've visited a couple different vet offices in Charlotte. I can say without a shadow of a doubt that Uptown Vet is by far superior to any others! One particular day my dog Whiskey had a hot spot and they went above and beyond in their accommodation of us. They got us in same day and made sure that he had everything he needed, they even followed up to ensure he was doing ok after the fact! I can't recommend them enough and would highly recommend Uptown Vet to anyone in the area! read more

Uptown Veterinary Hospital - Veterinarians Near Me - Charlotte, North Carolina

I arrived with a deeply traumatized dog that was obviously shaking like a leaf. I arrived 13 minutes after my appointment and was told to Leave and come back in an hour and a half even though the practice was empty. I imploded the front desk receptionists to have some compassion as I didn't want to put my dog through the cruelty of having to wait an additional hour and a half of anxiety, but I was told in no uncertain terms they were 'busy' and If you're more then ten minutes late they need to get money from the next customer. I was saddened and shocked by the lack of compassion. I left feeling very frustrated, feeling as though my pet had been mistreated, as had I. They couldn't take care of a visibly traumatized animal because we arrived 3 minutes after their ten minute cut off time. Mind you we have been clients the entire 5 year life of my dog. I called the receptionist hours later to ask for Dr. Jen Larson's email address (the owner) so that I could express my dissatisfaction at the way I and my dog were treated. The receptionist (Mikayla) told me she never hear of a 'Dr: Jen Larson'. I found that strange as it's small practice. I feel I was lied to. Later that night, I was surprised that Dr. Jen Larson thought it appropriate to call me at my home and lecture me on why her receptionists are the best and their policy is ten minutes and her practice did nothing wrong. Honestly I have never been looking for a discount or money back. All I wanted as an apology for mistreating my pet. Instead I was insulted in a very u professional way and quite frankly felt threatened by her tone. I'll be filing a complaint with the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Board. If this is how a 5 year client is treated understand what you are in for. They care about money more than a distressed animal and the only apology you will get is nothing. read more

I've been taking my dog Finn here for the past 2 years -- exceptional service and so good at what they do!! Not to mention, Finn gets really anxious at times and the vet assistants treat him so well. read more

Wow! What a difference in service from the veterinary office I was going to in High Point. I was seen immediately- right on time. Which was awesome (normally I get to appointments early and have to still wait 20-30 minutes after we are scheduled). Staff is courteous & professional & the technicians & veterinarian took their time with me- I ask a lot of questions and I truly appreciate the attitudes and knowledge of Uptown! They took the time to explain factors to me that other vets had not- to prevent issues instead of maintaining them. To me, I appreciate learning more, and it also demonstrates their care for the health of my fur baby instead of just milking me for money. I also love that they cover parking for their clients! Thank you! read more

We moved further away and have tried other vets but no one can compare. Dr. Jen is amazing, she is compassionate, detailed and explains everything breaking it down into terms we can understand. Unfortunately we had to put our pet down and she made us feel as best as we could throughout the process. read more

I am rewriting my review. My first review was based on the actions of one bad apple and didn't fairly represent the high quality of care and friendliness of the rest of the staff. Dr. Jen is a solid human and genuinely wants to do the best for your fuzzy child. read more

I moved to the area recently and was looking for a vet. A friend of mine referred me to Uptown Veterinary Hospital and not only was it very close to where I'm currently living but it was also by far the best vet I've ever taken my dog to. The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. My corgi is terribly nervous when she goes to the vet and they handled her with care while giving her the shots she was due for and her annual exam. Dr. Jen noticed a tarter buildup on her tooth and offered to remove it - something other vets always mentioned it being there but never took action on. Overall, I would recommend this to anyone. I'm also going to need to find a regular doctor for myself at some point - maybe if I find some fake ears and a tail I can sneak myself in here too? read more

One of the best vets I've been too in a long time! All of the staff was very friendly and really went out of their way to provide excellent service. They are also very reasonable on price. My sweet babies will be back! read more

So happy to have found this veterinary hospital in Uptown Charlotte! Dr. Larson & everyone else here is wonderful beyond words. My 2 boys are treated like family every time we visit. Since my babies (Bichon Frise & Cockapoo) just turned 11 in February, we are having to make more frequent visits. However, they happily go inside without hesitation. The facility is super clean & easy to access with free parking. Jake & Smitty decided this is five stars...and they are never wrong! read more

Uptown Veterinary Hospital - Veterinarians Near Me - Charlotte, North Carolina

I never post reviews (and in fact, writing this review was the catalyst to my active use of my Yelp account and my first ever review) but having just moved to Charlotte and gone through 3 different vet clinics, I HAD to post a stellar review of Dr. Jen and Vetwerx. Concerned fur mommy. I have been a dog owner for almost 15 years, with a total now of 4 fur babies. I recently got an AKC registered Yorkie (we named her Charlotte) from a dog breeder because I wanted to make sure that my puppy wasn't born in a puppy mill or that she wasn't inbred and would have a slew of cruel "teacup" genetic health issues. Therefore, Charlotte's overall health and quality of life is a MAJOR concern and priority. Other vets. I started going to a vet in Southend but during a bandage change after she broke her toe, Charlotte screamed and started limping following the visit. I had taken her to an emergency vet clinic for the broken toe during a weekend and although they were very responsive and friendly, they seemed overpriced. ++ Vetwerx genuinely cares and it shows. After the last bandage change, I decided to change vets to Vetwerx and was SO glad that I did!!! Dr. Jen showed me where Charlotte had her X-ray taken and was extremely gentle with Charlotte during the visit. The next day, Dr. Jen personally called to see how Charlotte was doing, which was extremely thoughtful. ++ High level of TLC. Charlotte seemed to be limping after her bandage was removed so we went back to Dr. Jen. Dr. Jen took a comprehensive X-ray of Charlotte to show me that Charlotte's toe had healed perfectly. Dr. Jen explained that Charlotte must have some pain so prescribed pain medication. She put the pain meds in individual syringes so that the doses didn't have to be measured out. ++ I trust Vetwerx. I am thoroughly impressed with Dr. Jen and have absolutely no reservations with taking my precious Charlotte and entrusting her in the very capable and caring hands of Dr. Jen and her staff. If you're looking for a reasonably priced vet, extremely new and clean facility, and want to rest assured that you're in good hands, I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Jen. Again, I never write reviews but felt galvanized to do so because Dr. Jen exceeded my expectations for a vet. One month update: Different visit; different symptoms; same high level of patient care. Charlotte came down with a respiratory infection and we had to come back for another visit. ++ Least invasive methodology. Dr. Jen tries the least invasive option first and then progressively increases the treatment protocol, as needed (some vets will go straight to the most invasive, most expensive option first, to pad the bill). Also, sometimes going straight to the most invasive treatment can be the most harmful by taking unnecessary risks. If you had a heart condition, you would try taking a beta blocker first (cost $100) before getting a stent before having bypass surgery (cost $100,000+) because maybe the beta blocker is all you needed; so trying surgery first would have subjected you to infections, substantial recovery, inordinate expenses -- all for nothing. ++ Triage emergencies. When I mentioned that Charlotte was having trouble breathing, they told me to come in right away, which is reassuring knowing that they will triage even though they're not an emergency clinic. She received the same care, thoroughness and attention this time as she did the first. Dr. Jen also took the time to carefully explain treatment options and pointers on giving Charlotte CPR, just in case. ++ Easy access to health records. When we left to go to CA, Dr. Jen emailed me Charlotte's health records in case the breathing issues aren't alleviated. 9.4.2016 Update. Charlotte came in to get spayed and like all the previous visits, she received the same level of TLC. We had Charlotte's microchip implanted and nails cut also. ++ Communicate test results. After her blood was taken the previous day, Dr. Jen called to inform us that Charlotte had a clean bill of health to safely proceed with the surgery. ++ Updates. Immediately after the surgery, the staff called to let us know that the surgery went well and that they wanted to keep Charlotte for observation. Dr. Jen made sure to give her extra pain killer shots around the incision to reduce Charlotte's post-op pain, which is greatly appreciated and just gives us the peace of mind that the staff really cares about our pup. ++ Contact even after hours. They gave Charlotte a cone for pherrets because she's only 3 pounds (haha) but it is preventing her from licking at her incision. Dr. Jen called the day after the surgery to inquire about your Charlotte's recovery was going. She assured us that although they would be closed for Labor Day, she checks her emails for non-emergency issues. The Vetwerx personal touch and genuine TLC gives me assurance that we are entrusting Charlotte's health in the right hands. read more

Last year was my first year in Charlotte, and due to the pandemic, I had to drop my kitty Harry off without meeting the veterinarian first or seeing the inside of Uptown Vet. Today I finally got to go inside with him for his annual check up. I was so impressed to see a play tower, toy, scratch post, and water dish in the room - how thoughtful! Harry gets extremely nervous at the doctor, so I loved the little baggy of catnip that was given to him. The vet technicians and Dr. Jen were so gentle with Harry as well as kind and informative, and I feel relieved to know that Harry is in great hands now that he's in his senior years. Thank you for excellent service and care! read more

I can't thank enough to Uptown Vet. Recommended by my friend I took Draco 2 times and both of the time they were very professional. Best thing is they would take him in a very short notice and would try to schedule us in their earliest convenience. Which almost works Like a emergency service type. They wouldn't do any extra tests just for money which I liked a lot as in these cases we are worried and would say yes to everything. They have been very transparent with the charges which is also another important reason I like the. They would explain how much it will cost so that we have a clear picture. The vets are very knowledgeable and my Boy has shown lots of improvement with the medicines within few days. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this place. First your greeted by a receptionist who I swear has a voice for radio, and she's very patient and kind. Dr. Jen is hands down the best vet I've worked with. She truly cares about the animals that come through her doors as well as the owners. She has been through all the ups and downs with my pets, consoling me when needed, and I trust no one else to care for my pets as much as her. Thank you Dr. Jen for everything! read more

I feel so lucky have found a new doctor for my fur babies at Uptown Veterinary Hospital. From the incredibly friendly front desk staff and vet techs, to the meticulous Dr. Larson, I'm happy to call this my new vet! I have two cats, and Dr. Eric has been fabulous with both of them! They have done regular checkups, dental cleaning, weight management, and sick care too. It is easy to make an appointment (phone or online), and I have never had to wait long to be seen. I even got a same-day appointment on a Saturday when my cat had really swollen eyes and needed help. The front desk staff all have such big hearts for animals, and they are simply good people. Everyone I have come into contact with at this business has been fabulous. I've never met Dr. Jen, but she has a great team! They validate parking for the garage next door, but the spaces are SUPER compact so bring your parking skills! When it comes to my animals' wellbeing, I have high standards. Uptown Veterinary Hospital is the only place I trust to care for my fur babies! They get my highest recommendation! read more

I recently got a new puppy who is twelve weeks old. I was searching around for a vet and ended up calling Uptown Vet. I spoke to Megan (who is so sweet) and was able to set up an appointment that week. Unfortunately the day I set up the appointment my puppy started spitting up her food and her breathing was a little off (I assumed cause she was playing too hard) but being the anxious person that I am, I called the vet to see if I could get an earlier appointment. I spoke to Shannon and she was amazing. There were no earlier appointments available but she said she would call me if something opened up. No less than thirty minutes later, they called me and set up an appointment for the next day. My baby sees Dr. Matheson who is so nice. I called with some follow up questions and he and the staff were extremely helpful. I even had a question about some small scabbing on my baby's tummy so I emailed them to the vet and someone gave me a call. I know I am anxious and want to make sure my baby is as healthy as possible so I am thankful that the staff is always willing to help answer my questions. My experience here has been amazing and I plan to keep this my baby's vet forever! read more

We have been with Uptown Veterinary Hospital for over a year now and we have had the best experience with them! All of the staff are very friendly and comforting. I can't say enough good things about Dr Jen. On top of being incredibly knowledgeable, she has the most soothing voice and manner that puts the animals (and owners) at ease. We brought our dog in recently for a procedure and Dr Jen took unplanned time out of her day to go back over everything with us and answer all of our questions (again). We are treated like family here and I trust Dr Jen more than any other health care professional I've come across. read more

Was referred to VetweRx by two of my neighbors. I previously went to Long and was so loyal because of the flexibility with hours (they are 24/7), but the quality of care just wasn't meeting our needs. We went to Long recently for my dog's papilomas and the first thing one of the vets recommended was an $800 surgery to cut them off and put our little baby under. When I was checking out the vet tech CLEARLY disagreed with the vets diagnosis. We took our baby (Peach) to VetweRx for a second opinion and have been so so so so very happy with the outcome. Jen and her team are sweet, accommodating, flexible. You feel like you have her undivided attention - and she works around you and your pet to make them feel as comfortable as possible. I can't say enough good things. I'm so glad she moved to Charlotte!!! read more

Wonderful in every way! Everyone was so nice and caring and now my new "rescue" has a new Beginning! My son came home with the cutest/sweetest "mutt" a couple weeks ago and one smell of her breath - you knew there were some issues. After receiving a couple estimates for dental work in the $1400 range - I had concerns and reservations as to what to do. Vetwerx greatly helped complete this "rescue" by offering a great Deal for a fraction of the estimates I received elsewhere. I have no doubt the treatment was equal to or Superior to any other treatment she could have received. I have no reservation in saying you will be carried away with Vetwerx and their staff! Wonderful in every way! read more

I came in and front desk was great, but the doctor claimed my dog was aggressive. My dog has been to 3/4 other animal hospitals, one time for jumping out of my car, and has never ever bit anyone before. I don't know if they are scared of pit bulls or if they did not know how to correctly calm and restrain a dog, but my dog was incredibly scared when he came back to me. In addition to this they charged me with a 66 dollar exam fee and did zero examination of my dog. On top of all of this there parking validation only covered 4 dollars and all in all this was a terrible experience. It is now 4:30, I still don't know if my dog is okay, and I am struggling to find another vet before places close. I don't recommend coming here for large animals because there was obvious fear surrounding large animals that doctors here are not able to accommodate for, as well as the fact that they used my obviously sick dog for a money grab. Who charges for an exam when they don't even get to doing the exam.... trash practice. read more

Very pleased. I was living next door and thought I would try Uptown Vet because of it's location. It was better than I expected. Very clean, friendly and professional. Unfortunately I moved out of state recently and can no longer bring my dogs here. I liked it so much that I have considered making the hours long drive just for a vet visit. I recently had to call to get my dogs vet records and they were super friendly and I received them via email within minutes. read more

I had to go to this place in a pinch as we had recently moved and had an immediate health issue. I was surprised how attentive and nice they were, and frankly, affordable. This will definitely be our new spot. Loved it and the staff is amazing! Well done. read more

I am EXTREMELY pleased with the service provided by VetweRx! My Yorkie needed a lot of extractions and a really good cleaning and they surpassed my expectations! Her breath is so fresh now and I feel confident that she will be much better off with the rotten teeth out! I submitted a yelp quote request and they were the first to respond to me! They also got me in the same day for a pre-check and the next day for her dental services. The price was reasonable and I like that they charged by time and not by tooth for the extractions. Also they honor the groupon special without you purchasing it, which works better for them so they don't have to give a % of the purchase. They explained EVERYTHING in detail and kept me informed! I will be going here for future services! read more

I had such an incredible experience here! The staff is incredibly professional, they take time to walk you through every single part of the process to make sure you are 100% comfortable with what they are doing. The entire facility is spotless, I mean absolutely spotless to where you could eat off the floor. I took my three dogs in to get a routine examination prior to getting a dental cleaning, and I couldn't say more positive things about my experience. The vet staff makes you feel like you are part of their family. They are incredibly loving and truly care about the services that they provide. It is definitely worth it for me to drive 45 minutes to come to a vet that truly embellishes the essence of veterinary care. I was incredibly surprised they could take me in as soon as they could and turn the results around on the bloodwork prior to the dental cleaning so fast. One other benefit that I really liked is that they have parking passes available for their clients. They walk you through every piece and also make suggestions for future care that your pets may need. I believe the biggest piece that impressed me was the fact that they were not pushy with any of their services and truly walk you through what was needed. I really wish I could have given them 10 stars, you'll need to come in to see exactly what I'm talking about! read more

I know I'm one of MANY 5 star reviews, but I must say.. as a college student, I was a little apprehensive at first about pricing of a vet in Uptown. However, I found them to be completely reasonably priced! (for a physical exam and fecal it was about $80) Also, they have a staff that is genuinely interested in veterinary medicine and extremely knowledgeable. Any question I had, they were able to answer. Everyone was so curious and asking me many questions about my cat/his issues. It made me feel very cared for--unlike some vet offices where they can seem very in-and-out/like they have a million other things they are busy with. I would recommend them to anyone who needs a vet. I could go on forever about my experience, but last, I really liked they had toys, a cat tree, a bowl of water, and a litter box out for my boy in the room, making it more comfortable for him (he was even running around chasing the laser light! normally he just hides under the bench at the vet). Overall, amazing staff, facility, pricing, and experience. I am so happy to have found them. Thank you for the incredible experience Dr. Fine and Khori! read more

My husband found this place on a whim. We were looking for a new vet and he stumbled upon a living social deal so we decided to try them out. They just opened not long ago. Dr. Larson and her staff seem to genuinely care for animals. Just watching her interactions with my dog warms my heart because you can tell she enjoys what she does. The prices for care are also very reasonable. I would highly recommend giving this place a chance. Dr. Larson may be young, but she is very knowledgeable and so sweet to my fur baby! read more

I can't say enough good things about this vet office!!!!!!! After a friend's referral and reading online reviews, I knew this was the place I trusted with my first puppy. Dr. Jen and her ENTIRE staff are the absolute best! I am not an 'easy' new dog momma bc I'm paranoid about everything but this office has brought me so much comfort. Every person I talked to/interacted with was so caring, helpful and informative. Dr. Jen took her time explaining everything and gave her open, honest opinion. I really appreciated how they asked for verbal consent prior to doing any treatment and at the end of the visit they gave a full itemized receipt AS WELL AS estimated invoices for upcoming appts! They truly go above and beyond and recommend them to everyone! :) read more

Dr. Jen is a fabulous vet that took great care of my boys when I was living in Charlotte. First, I brought my 7 lb. Morkie to her after an ear infection that we were having a hard time getting rid of. Another vet had already prescribed him two medications that didn't seem to work. Within a week of going to Dr. Jen his ear infection was cured after over a month of not being able to shake it. Later, my 2-year old male cat developed crystals. He was put under, and the crystals were removed immediately. The team then worked with me to get him 24-hour care over the weekend with another local animal hospital. Highly recommend- great with the fur babies and keeps obsessive animal lovers (me) happy. read more

Please be aware of the dental package at this animal clinic. I paid 229 for the dental cleaning and they found an issue with my dog's blood work. They pressure me in thinking that something was seriously wrong so they recommend me to buy medicine for my dog which 88.00 was taken out of the 229 credit. They did some more blood work so that amount was taken out also that left me with a 50.00 credit. My veterinarian said there was nothing to be concerned about. Now Uptown vet is stating that i don't have a credit because i wasn't charge the original amount for the blood work. Bottom line if you advertise a package for dental don't be changing what it should have been if no special was going on. Im so glad I will not be going back to this animal clinic. Be careful before you agree on a certain amount because they can change it on their terms. read more

Decided to give it a try after being at Banfield for two years and I will never go back to Banfield. The facility is so clean and has nice open rooms (some with huge windows) which made my anxiety prone dog so much more comfortable. They were up front about what I did NOT need to spend money on that day and I did not feel like there were all these extra fees tacked onto the bill like there are at Banfield. They spent time really getting to know my dog and actually seemed to genuinely care. She even clipped my dogs nails right there in front of me at no charge. And one of the best parts besides how clean this place is...is the fact that it's open 7 days a week. It's perfect for people that work and can only bring their pets on the weekend. It's super convenient. And they have free garage parking, just make sure that you get the parking validation pass before you leave. read more
