Let's just start by saying that I love what the SFA vets are doing for the community. The low cost for great animal care is commendable and appreciated. I normally go to the Pineville office but it is just coming back around to appointments. This location is far for me and I feel it takes a little while longer to be seen. I had an appointment at 10 and wasn't seen until 10:45. I had to go in and see if they forgot about me. But once you're seen you're out in a jiffy. So that's a plus. The office is clean as well. I just wish people would read with comprehension because the sign says leave pets in car...they just keep going right in with their animals.

This is a great organization! The service is affordable and the quality of care is superb. I have used them as my routine visits, spray and neutering my dogs and their litter.

This is what was left under his carrier after getting home.

I'm completely appalled, and don't even know where to begin. I brought my cat in for his neutering surgery today. A receptionist asked me if I wanted the cone, (I said yes $10), She asked if I wanted flea treatment, I said no), She then asked if I wanted his nails trimmed (I said no). Fast forward to me coming to pick him up, once his name is called I walk to the front (check out) for my total for the visit. He's on the kitty package and his surgery was already covered, I just owed $10 for his cone, right? We'll, I got the desk and she said my total was $22.... I said, "Um for what?" She then lists his cone ($10), nail trimming ($5), and flea treatment ($7) So they trimmed his nails when i said NO, then they proceed to give him flea treatment because they found A flea. I understand for the protection of the other fur babies it was necessary....... It's the fact nobody called to tell me I was getting charged for extra services. After paying for the flea, and cone, I go back to pick him up, I'm presented with his carrier I brought him in. Inside is my little woozy baby...... COVERED IN HIS OWN URINE. SOAKED through the carrier as well. HOW LONG was my baby sitting in his own urine? That's my question!!?? He was there for 8 hours. This is absolutely disgusting, negligent, and irresponsible of the staff. I can't even begin to stomach the thought of how many other fur babies possibly suffered this same unsanitary, putrid care as my poor little boy. I will be sure to keep my angels far from this neglectful practice. Absolutely disgusting. The chick who gave him to me, went back to clean him up after I brought this to her attention, she acted like this was acceptable and normal. They wiped him down with baby wipes and put a pee pad in with him. She proceeded to say the bottom didn't feel wet to her, that "His fur had absorbed most of it...... excuse my language but WHAT THE HELL??!!! That is disgusting. I wanted to lunge at her for that absolute monstrosity of a comment. I will never be back here and they will be hearing further of a complaint from me. Don't trust these people with your babies, or to not charge you for things without your knowledge, and that you didn't ask for. *Picture below shows after they cleaned it and I drove home with it on a pee pad* Would've been my seat.....

LOVE LOVE this place and how they love on animals. Don't let the inexpensive prices fool you. This place runs like a well-oiled machine. Just because the prices are lower, doesn't mean they cut any corners on care. I love that I can bring my pet in for what he needs without wasting a lot of time and money. Today we went in for a heartworm test and a heartworm refill. We were in and out in about 30 min and spent $30 on the visit, including the heartworm test. For basic tests like this, there is no need for a visit with a doctor. Pro-tip: There are 3 locations (Charlotte, Pineville, and Mooresville).

Great vet!! So I ended up coming here just to get a 2nd opinion on test results and next steps for my dog. I was told my dog had heart worms which I didn't doubt BUT the treatment that was recommended was over the top ridiculously priced so I decided to get a 2nd opinion. I came and was provided exactly what I came for. The staff was very accommodating and super patient with my dog. My dog gets anxious around people and can become very scared and nervous. They took their time with him; once we got in we were literally in and out. Once we pulled up, we got out and checked in and then waited in the car. I walked my dog around the parking lot to work off his anxiety a little bit. Afterwards, the technician took him right away in the back and then bought him back out quickly. The treatment I was prescribed was about 90% cheaper than what I had initially been told and my dog is just fine! Overall, great vet, great staff and plenty of parking. This is a clean facility that cares about your fur baby- I would recommend this business!

I decided to give the Charlotte location a try, as I am a frequent customer in Mooresville. Getting there at 7:30 in the morning requires me to have patience in traffic. I did it two mornings in a row and lived to tell about it! My kitty went in for neutering. He was returned in great condition and still a happy fellow. The process is quick, everyone gathers at 7:30 for instructions, you complete the paperwork and leave your cat. The next morning, you pay your bill ($35), pick up your cat and go home. The service was efficient and very friendly. It seems the people working here genuinely care for animals and it shows. I am glad to have a reliable place to take my cats when needed. Both locations provide excellent service at a reasonable cost. Yes, my fur baby was given a small green line tattoo on the skin so that the hair will grow over it. They said that helps them identify that he has been spayed/neutered. I suppose it's a thing and it doesn't bother him at all.

I took my dog to be neutered and with prior notice on the same day of his surgery he had two surgeries, one to correct a problem in his tummy but the wound never healed properly and when I tried to make another appointment to check it out they canceled it, so emergency I had to take him to another place to be treated since the wound started to open, I ended up spending a lot of money for a poorly done surgery that I did not ask for in the first place.

There are some seriously questionably entitled people on the reviews for this company 1- This is not your regular vet, they are here for those of us who don't want to or can't spend luxury prices on standard things for our pets. We still get it done- and SFA makes that possible by keeping their rates low. 2- I've taken Rambo here multiple times. Dental- it was priced well and done very well! Routine/annual exams- even with meds, treatments, labs...super affordable. 3- The employees CARE for your pet! Rambo is usually angry when I leave him and pick him up later but he doesn't like being left anywhere. He's not stressed at all! Don't be ungrateful just because you don't agree with a practice. The people working for SFA and the organization make vet care possible!! I truly appreciate everything SFA has done for us!!

I imploded the front desk receptionists to have some compassion as I didn't want to put my dog through the cruelty of having to wait an additional hour and a half of anxiety, but I was told in no uncertain terms they were 'busy' and If you're more then ten minutes late they need to get money from the next customer. I was saddened and shocked by the lack of compassion. I left feeling very frustrated, feeling as though my pet had been mistreated, as had I. They couldn't take care of a visibly traumatized animal because we arrived 3 minutes after their ten minute cut off time. Mind you we have been clients the entire 5 year life of my dog. I called the receptionist hours later to ask for Dr. Jen Larson's email address (the owner) so that I could express my dissatisfaction at the way I and my dog were treated. The receptionist (Mikayla) told me she never hear of a 'Dr: Jen Larson'. I found that strange as it's small practice. I feel I was lied to. Later that night, I was surprised that Dr. Jen Larson thought it appropriate to call me at my home and lecture me on why her receptionists are the best and their policy is ten minutes and her practice did nothing wrong. Honestly I have never been looking for a discount or money back. All I wanted as an apology for mistreating my pet. Instead I was insulted in a very u professional way and quite frankly felt threatened by her tone. I'll be filing a complaint with the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Board. If this is how a 5 year client is treated understand what you are in for. They care about money more than a distressed animal and the only apology you will get is nothing.

When we first started coming here, it was fantastic. The staff were attentive, and both my pets and I always felt comfortable walking through the door. Unfortunately, over the past year or so, things have really gone downhill -- it seems to line up with when the practice switched to a new system. The front desk/admin team specifically has become a consistent problem. They rarely seem to know what's going on, and I've been asked basic questions (like whether my pets are on any medication) that should be right there in the chart before we even start talking. On more than one occasion, staff have mis-gendered my pet -- which is a pretty simple thing to double check. Beyond that, I've had to follow up multiple times just to get test results or other updates that should have been communicated proactively. I've also been billed for services that were never actually performed. Wait times have gotten progressively longer with each visit, and the cleanliness of the facility has noticeably declined. More than once, it seems like the team simply forgot I was there -- either waiting for discharge or waiting to be checked out of an exam room. To be clear, the veterinarians themselves are wonderful. They remember my pets, clearly care about their wellbeing, and I have no complaints about the actual medical care. But the surrounding administrative and operational issues have made it hard to trust the practice as a whole, and I don't feel confident continuing to bring my pets here. I'll be looking for a new vet, which is disappointing given how good things used to be.

When I booked the appointment, I made sure to mention that he's an older, asthmatic cat. I would have expected that information to prompt a few more questions -- about his temperament, how he handles, whether sedation might be needed -- so the visit could be planned accordingly. Instead, it seems like this only came up as a problem once we were already there. Two male vet techs took my large, senior, asthmatic cat back for his exam. They were friendly, asked good questions, and seemed genuinely interested in understanding my cat before taking him for vaccines and bloodwork. About 10-15 minutes later, they returned with Dr. Foreman. She walked in without introducing herself or asking who I was, and opened with, "What a grumpy cat." She then told me they'd given the vaccines but couldn't draw blood, clip his nails, or do anything else I'd requested, and suggested sedating him for a follow-up visit. I was caught off guard -- my cat has had blood drawn and nails clipped at previous vets without issue. She explained he was breathing hard and being aggressive, and that she was concerned for her staff's safety and his. That's a reasonable concern on its own. What wasn't reasonable was that she never came to discuss it with me directly or explore alternatives before deciding the appointment was over. I explained that I don't drive and had relied on a friend to bring us in, and that getting a large, older cat into a carrier isn't simple. Her response: "Well, at least he's legal now" -- referring to the state-mandated vaccine. No acknowledgment of the situation, no empathy. When I said the bloodwork was the most important part of the visit given his age, she said, "I could have just done something and then be coming back here to tell you he's dead." I called out how hostile that comment was, and her tone only became more dismissive from there. This was, by a wide margin, the most unprofessional interaction I've had with a veterinarian.
