Is it a tourist trap? Why, yes, yes it is! Still, the marketing is clever and just vulgar enough to keep it interesting - while not offending anyone too innocent to "get it"... like my mother. Anywho, we came for the fudge cuz I'm too cheap to pay shipping when I can just fly from NoDak to St Louis, rent a car for $60/day filled with $5/gallon fuel to drive 3hrs then need a hotel - MFer... This is just a fun, quirky stop along Rt. 66. A lot of word play is in use throughout the store. Of course they are famous for their five dollar per piece fudge because you gotta get fudge from Uranus. The perfect road trip stopping spot. The fudge was $19.99 per pound. The salt water taffy was $9.99 per pound. The service was fast and friendly. My wife and I decided to split a pound of fudge and it was some of the best fudge we have had. I then got a pound of assorted salt water taffy and it was delicious too. They also have plenty of other snacks and gifts to buy. They take all major credit cards. Let's face it, if you have a town named Uranus and there's a fudge factory, and you're taking a #roadtrip near #route66, you HAVE to stop! Staff is fun and having a blast with all the adult puns that can be made. Actual candy bar / fudge counter itself is really not that big. But I did buy some dark chocolate and some chocoalte peanut butter fudge - #yum. Mostly, it's a gift shop (T shirts, etc), then other little shops and photo ops (check out my pics!) - a museum you can buy tics for (we did not), ice cream shop, little hot dog stand, a "jail," etc. There are some picnic tables outside, but it was a little chilly to eat outdoors when we were there. You know what you're getting into at a place with a name like this. The double and triple entendre move fast in Uranus. See? That was my bad attempt at a Uranus joke and it didn't land. It's harder than it seems? Anyhow... Uranus Fudge Factory is more like a plaza, with their general store being the main attraction. Plenty of parking and photo ops. Unfortunately, we were in a hurry and didn't get a chance to soak in Uranus, but we did visit the store and get some fudge and novelties. While there was plenty of standard and stock country store stuff (think Cracker Barrel), a lot of the Uranus-themed goods are very committed to the bit. The staff as well, are exceptionally committed to the bit. Wonderfully so! I don't know if the best fudge really does come from Uranus, but it has the most fun coming through of Uranus. read more
