Not sure what the deal was with that, but you couldn't swing a dead cat without hitting a faux carnation. Lots & lots of fairly interesting trinkets, including huge name-in-lights alphabet letters, decorative mangoes & cheese - now *that's* white - and my personal favorite: the shiny pillows. YOU MUST FONDLE THE SHINY PILLOWS. As for the apparent Christian nature of the chain, it didn't jump out at me in terms of merchandise apart from a selection of surprisingly beautiful crosses (relax, I'm a confirmed agnostic, and I'm not going to shit on someone's parade just to look "cool" for grouches). So why the less-than-perfect rating? Because the people there appear to be assholes. I expect little in the way of humanity from the ill-paid among us, but my one interaction was with an older woman who was openly glaring at me for asking a question... in precisely the same "get thee behind me" manner I received almost everywhere during my travels in Red States. (In case you missed the hint/reference, I'm saying that she was a bitch masquerading as an acolyte of Jesus) But apart from this stupidly contrary-to-Christianity-AND-capitalism attitude, it was a fine experience there. I waited another 15 minutes and still no help. I qent back up and she had forgotten all about me. I could tell. At this point I asked for a manager. I waited another 10 minutes and still nothing. Must be a great place to work because you can collect a paycheck and do absolutely nothing. Go down the street and shop at hobby lobby. They have so much better help. I waited for a total of 30 minutes before making this post trying to give them every chance. Don't shop here unless you have time to kill.

They've got craft items, old books, VHS tapes, clothes, and much more. I recently bought an Oregon Duck print pillow, that's handmade by the seller. I always enjoy it. The employees are always nice. Nothing special, and a little slow because they have to write down the seller ID so they can credit the right person because of so many vendor booths. But they've all worked there forever, so you see familiar faces. Prices aren't bad, if you know what you're buying. It's mostly handmade items, so you may pay a higher price because of that. I try to compare it to booths at the Scandinavian festival to see which is the better deal for certain things. It's a store I've gone to many times and will keep returning to, because I can buy craft items made by someone local. I love that aspect of it.

I moved to Eugene and was thinking wouldn't it be great if Eugene had such a place, and lo and behold, MECCA! It's like Seattle ReCreative but 10+ times larger! Paint, canvas, paper, folios, yarn, fabric remnants, yogurt tubs, wine bottles, plant pots, scrapbook papers, so much fun stuff to get you thinking creativity on a budget. My only suggestion is they might find a way to fill in the huge puddle right in front of their door, and that they somehow get more parking spaces!

I've been to this store a couple of times and was able to find what I needed each time…read more The first time I went in search of some galaxy-themed fabric for a pin board I was making. I was able to find two fabrics that were perfect and an employee cut what I needed from the bolts. The wait was a bit long but I just looked at the other fabrics while I waited to be called. I went for the second time this past Wednesday night, about an hour before they closed. My friend had texted me saying that they had the ceramic goose statue that I've been looking for for months and I booked it over there as soon as I could. When I arrived the store was almost empty - I saw one customer walking around (possibly shoplifting actually, as I saw her leave and jump into a double-parked truck that had flashed its brights at me in the parking lot when I arrived...) and one employee who ended up checking me out. The item I bought was 40% off and the employee had said they had been flying off the shelves, which I believe since they're all the craze right now. With the store being so empty, I was surprised to get checked out so quickly. I was in and out in less than five minutes. The employee I checked out with was nice and friendly. The store was clean and quiet (obviously). The parking lot is big and there's a light right next to the store so it's super easy to get in and out of. It's a prime location so I'm surprised I don't see more traffic there over the weekends.

When we walked in we were greeted by Dana who was absolutely amazing at explaining the process to us. There was a ton of different items to choose from to start painting and lots of colors to choose. We had such a fun time together as a family and we cannot wait to come back again! Dana who was working was super nice, extremely kind, and patient with our young son! He made the experience that much better. I recommend 100% for a fun family time, date night, or even just alone time therapy painting.
