Concert poster, from 2014. Now happy in its new frame !.
    Sean C.

My experience with Michelle and Misty today at this store location left me with one of the best customer service interactions ever. Earlier this month I bought a 12x18 frame for a concert poster that's been on my wall unframed since 2014. Unfortunately the frame that I'd bought, broke the minute I got home. Last Saturday 12/1/18 I returned to the store location to exchange the frame for a new one. Unfortunately the store was completely sold out. Michelle and Misty stepped in at this point and went way above and beyond my expectations. They offered me a new frame at a higher value because the store could not provide the same original frame. This matters, because money matters; and because I know that they did not HAVE to do this for me. It is because they understood my situation and they stepped in like true professionals. This experience and interaction left such an impact on me. I am still truly excited, relieved, validated and grateful!.

This is the yarn I found on our last visit to Michael's.

It's always a toss up if I'll find something I need in here or walk out empty handed. Yesterday I had an ad for yarn on sale, which I found some really good stuff. Plus a coupon for 40% off a regular priced item. So my husband got a Star Wars shirt really cheap. I don't buy much from the store, typically stick to yarn. So my knowledge of the store isn't spectacular. The selection doesn't seem that great for how big the store is. The staff is kind of in the middle on being good or bad. There were two employees working last night. A male and female. The guy almost ran into me with two rolling trash cans, acted like I was in his way as he was sweeping, and never asked if I needed any help. The female was the cashier and she was super nice and helpful. She talked to me about the coupons and sales because I had asked if I could use my coupon on sale items, or if they were excluded. That's where my husband ended up with his shirt because it was full price. She was very patient while he went back to find what he wanted, and wasn't rude when other people got in line behind us. I appreciate how patient and knowledgable she was. It's a store I go to fairly often, mostly for sales and to see if they've got different colors of yarn I want in stock, or stock up during sales. Obviously, I'll keep returning. It's not a bad store by any near means. It can just be over priced and not have what you're looking for. Always a gamble.

    Shadow box for shell lei

VERY pleased with this custom-made shadow box that the team at Michaels / Aaron Brothers Framing made. This is a precious Niihau shell lei that I recently inherited from my auntie in Hawaii. They made it so the door can open, so that I can wear the lei on occasion. They loved the challenge of coming up with idea how to do (since shadow boxes are normally closed/sealed & item inside are secured permanently). GREAT JOB!!

A Spinner's Barn also organizes spinning classes if you get in touch with them. We stopped by this week, petted the adorable and very sweet alpacas, and then quickly sought some warmth in the gift shop where we got some of the softest yarn I've ever felt as a christmas gift for a family member. Our visit was well worth the drive, but make sure you check that they're open, or just call ahead and they'll make sure they're there to open the place for you!

It's beyond boring and nothing new as far as stock or yarn colors. Even Wal-Mart gets new colors in more often! If you're looking for boring consistency, I suppose this is the store for you. Employees are scarce and hard to find. My husband and I lined up, after following the long maze of impulse buy shelves, to wait a solid ten minutes. We talked loudly, I coughed a few times, clapped. Nothing. My husband attempted to find an employee, still nothing. Finally, one wanders over and said she was sorry, but she couldn't see the check-out lines from where she was. Not my problem. I said they needed to have a bell out to cut down on wait time in the later evening when there aren't many customers. She said they weren't allowed to do something like that. So in a store where the registers are blocked off by impulse buy bullshit, and employees want to be useful past standing behind a register with two customers in the store, apparently you have to go find them in order to pay for your items. They might as well turn it into a self checkout! Or at least change that portion of the store around so they can see the registers and when someone is there. I said as much to the cashier, who then spent three minutes explaining where she was in the store, and where to find someone should it happen again. Bla, bla, bla. I forgot everything she said before I even walked out the door because it was a boring, drawn out conversation turned lecture from her, and quite frankly, it's unlikely I'll be back for a very long time anyway. So my ability to care about her speech was pretty minimal and tuned out ten seconds after she started. I'm constantly less than impressed by this store. Which is sad because it could be great. The location is perfect, and I would totally go a lot more often if they had a better selection and more employees to help.

I found this odd, given she was just sort of standing there with a bag and her purse, yet asking if we were looking for anything specific. Sooner or later a real employee came in. I'm presuming she stepped out to use the little girl's room or something. This store is packed full, and I mean full of stuff. There's some clothing, scarves, and leggings. There's every possible button you could ever want in your lifetime in here. Same goes with thread and ribbon. If you can't find what you're looking for in here, I highly doubt it exists. The store is easily filled with just 5 or 6 people because there is so much product crammed in here. The funny thing is even with so much product in such a tiny space, it is incredibly well organized. This is one of those places where if you're carrying a decent sized purse, turn around too fast, or are just a bit clumsy, it's pretty much guaranteed that you're going to crash into something. I found a hilarious pair of socks in here for my father in-law yesterday and went to buy them. As we're chatting with the employee, I grab ahold of my husband because he's about to run into a shelf. I can just see things spilling everywhere in my head and the mess he's going to create. As I'm trying to prevent what I think is less than a second away from becoming utter chaos, the employee reassured us that even working in the store and knowing where everything is, she still bumps shelves or runs into things almost daily. This simple warm reassurance relaxed me because I was nervous about being in such a small place and accidentally creating a huge mess for someone else to clean up. It's like going to someone's house and you're afraid to sit on any of the furniture kind of feeling. Not here. It's the relaxed, it happens kind of approach. Which is really what made it memorable to me. I heard another customer ask for a specific employee who had just left shortly before that. The customer wanted this employee because she could always find the customer the perfect buttons. If you ever find someone who has a knack for finding you exactly what you want when you're not even sure what that is, stalk them! Lol. That is a whole other level of customer service. But that also told me what kind of store this is, and that attention to details is a big deal to them. Would I return? Absolutely. It's a great store with a ton of products and incredible selection. The customer service is wonderful, warm, and welcoming. I certainly don't look like the kind of person who has crafting hobbies, and I only bought socks during my initial visit. Yet I was treated like I'd been in a thousand times and they knew me. I like that, and it is exactly why I will return when it's time to start a new craft project.

I was able to find two fabrics that were perfect and an employee cut what I needed from the bolts. The wait was a bit long but I just looked at the other fabrics while I waited to be called. I went for the second time this past Wednesday night, about an hour before they closed. My friend had texted me saying that they had the ceramic goose statue that I've been looking for for months and I booked it over there as soon as I could. When I arrived the store was almost empty - I saw one customer walking around (possibly shoplifting actually, as I saw her leave and jump into a double-parked truck that had flashed its brights at me in the parking lot when I arrived...) and one employee who ended up checking me out. The item I bought was 40% off and the employee had said they had been flying off the shelves, which I believe since they're all the craze right now. With the store being so empty, I was surprised to get checked out so quickly. I was in and out in less than five minutes. The employee I checked out with was nice and friendly. The store was clean and quiet (obviously). The parking lot is big and there's a light right next to the store so it's super easy to get in and out of.
