Donation time. Snip snip. All my hair was gone. This is a school so expect to get your hair messed up at times. I came in to cut my hair for donation. It took awhile and the braids I got before the cut ended up tilting my haircut... My head is a bit hard to cut my hair, so kudos to all involved! My sister brought her son here last year and was given an awesome haircut. We needed a last minute haircut for picture day this year and we asked for the same style but just a little shorter. The guy who cut his hair said it would take 40 minutes. Longer than expected but I wasn't too sure what to expect anyway. So when he was done I told him we wanted it shorter and asked if he could blend the sides a bit as they looked choppy and not blended. He told me there's no blend. I didn't know what that meant. I said can you make it shorter or blend it a little and he just kept saying "there's no blend". Then I pulled out the reference photo from last year to show him and he said if he cuts it any shorter it's going to look like a military style haircut and it won't look good. My nephew is a military brat and grew up that way so it was a little offensive. Then the barber proceeded to tell me he'll do it but if it doesn't look good that's on me. I thought that was very unprofessional. The haircut he did seemed much longer than the reference pic and it was not blended well at all on the side. I can't expect much for a $6 haircut but these are students who should still remain professional as they're heading toward a career where you have to satisfy the customer. I would leave 1.5 stars for his service but giving 3 because my sister had a great experience there last year. Also the customer service at the front was great. I usually don't leave reviews, but I felt this needed to be shared. Unfortunately, my recent visit to this barber was disappointing. The main issue was the back of my haircut -- it was noticeably uneven and poorly finished. I asked for a clean, straight cut, but what I got looked rushed and careless. I understand everyone can have an off day, but the lack of attention to detail and overall quality just wasn't acceptable. I had to go elsewhere to get it fixed, which is frustrating both in terms of time and money. Won't be coming back here. read more

I used to go to Urban Barber College about 8 years ago and it was always a positive experience. Coming back to this area, I was searching for a barber and when I was visiting the Park and Shop and realizing I needed a haircut, i decided to visit. My experience visiting decidedBarber college was much much better than I had anticipated. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of professionalism and the great new look of the place. I had nothing but 100 percent professionalism from all the staff I encountered and I ended up getting one of the best haircuts (High Bald Fade with a hard part) I've had in years. I'd say my rating is more like a 3.5. I took my son in to get a haircut, and overall I'm very happy with the results! Our barber specifically was very nice, asked questions, and my son liked him as well for how gentle he was. So if we were eating the barber alone My rating would be a 5. However as an establishment here is the biggest area of opportunity: When you have a line of folks waiting to get a haircut, and 4-6 student barbers sitting around on their phones and talking to each other it's not a good look. You give the perception that people are taking their sweet time getting around to their customers. This may be normal in 'barber culture' but it's something that I'd love to see changed - and this isn't specific to this business. Especially as students who are going into this industry have an opportunity to re-brand professionalism within this area. With all of this said, I'd go back again because our barber did a great job, and well let's be real, the haircut was $6. Make some small improvements - like having people take their breaks and lunch away from the shop. That could easily change my perspective on the current rating. read more

With the amount of haircuts that little boys have to get with their hair growing so fast all the time, this place is totally worth it. Yes, it depends on who is cutting your hair and how much experience they received so far in their training. However, sometimes you get a really awesome cut and sometimes you just have to remember that your hair will grow back soon. I used to bring my older son here to get his hair cut, and now I'm bringing my youngest son to get his haircut. The wait time is never too long and you could always walk around the stores in the area because they will text you when you're next in line. read more

Now let's come on to the point, So the thing is many of these students don't even know how to hold a trimmer and scissor, Very first I had to wait for more than 30 mins and then the Black Guy who was cutting my hair by trimmer was using trimmer machine SO ROUGHLY in my head, I told him to use trimmer gently but he was just continuing AND WITH THIS HARSH MOVEMENT HE CUT MY LEFT EAR SO BADLY THAT IT STARTED BLEEDING. Also he took more than an hour to cut my hair's "Unevenly" and in bad shape. I Called to their two senior student (both fat guy) but everybody was behaving like nothing happened. I was extremely disappointed with the service I received during my recent visit to Urban. They deceived me when I paid $12 and requested an "ELITE BARBER" but instead they gave me a beginner who couldn't even handle her comb for two minutes while cutting. The first time I went to Urban Barber College I got cut by Arvin a.k.a Vin, and let me say he did not disappoint! Before I got in his chair he welcomed me not as a customer but as a friend, from there I could tell that he wanted to build a bond/relationship with every person he cuts. When the cape was on he asked me what I wanted. I told him I get simple tapers from other barbers but I wanted to try a fade with a textured top, so I showed him a picture and he went to work. While getting cut Vin wasn't those quiet or awkward barbers he would start conversations, him getting to know you and you getting to know him. He is an award winning barber who has been perfecting his cuts for years and he's only 20 years old! All I can say is that he will make sure your cut is perfect every time. You will leave his chair 100x more confident/happy than when you came in. His barber etiquette is top notch as he is easy to talk to about pretty much everything. I like this place. It gives a chance for the students to practice and I don't have to pay 25 bucks a head. Single mom of 4, so there is no way I can pay for some fancy barber. You do take your chances because they are students but you know, its not that big of a risk. They have teachers walking around, helping.. and if you don't like what they did, ask them to fix it! This is a hit and miss spot. If you get a good student, you gotta stick with them. Eventually, they graduate and you gotta find another one. Remember this is Barber school, so there's some foul language being thrown around as well as an occasional argument. Overall, OK spot. Some of these students really got talent.
