My visit was pleasant, and the staff was very helpful. Once a drank the strawberry lemonade I remembered how much I liked this place. This time we went for dinner and I was impressed with the number of plates they offered. My friend invited me to a fundraiser they were having last night at Urban Cookhouse. This was the perfect opportunity for me to revisit UC after about 10 years. The location is easy to find in homewood square, plenty of parking (they have a lot or park in any of the surrounding areas), there is a drive thru as well. The restaurant itself was spacious and clean, however, the women's restroom needed attention. Staff smiled and work diligently. The gentleman with the locs was the main one I saw interacting with individuals. Very professional and had a warm personality. My order consisted of half a BALT (bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato, aioli toasted sandwich) with a half mandarin crunch salad (lettuce, cabbage, green onion, mandarin oranges, chow mein noodles, honey sesame dressing). It's crazy that I haven't been to Urban Cookhouse in FIVE years! Boy , am I glad I popped in recently for dinner. I appreciated the dedicated customer parking in the rear of the restaurant. Street parking is also an option. This location is really clean and decorated nicely. They highlight local farmers, etc. it's great!! The staff presented themselves in a helpful and friendly manner. For my meal, I ordered lime marinated steak with rice; it comes with a garden salad and a delicious orange roll. I always enjoyed this healthier option meal in the past. I did have to add a little salt to liven up that beef a bit but otherwise this was a tasty meal with generous portions. Veggie quesadilla was a sloppy mess very little cheese and a lot of bland veggies. Cuban sandwich again was meh, not the right kind of bread way too fluffy. So my lunch group met around 11:30 and I was able to find parking in the parking lot on the backside of the building by the drive thru. Service was great and it took less than 10 minutes for my food to come out after ordering, even though it started to get a bit crowded. I had the line marinated steak plate with salad, rice and orange roll. It was delicious and the steak was tender. As I approached the register, I noticed a staff member on the expo line with long hair hanging past his shoulders--completely uncovered and not pulled back. This is a basic food safety requirement, and it was concerning to see it overlooked. I brought it to the attention of the front-of-house manager and hope the team takes steps to ensure better hygiene practices moving forward. I ultimately chose not to eat here. An item description on the menu should be accurate. For instance, a buffalo chicken wrap should have some semblance to a buffalo chicken sandwich. Not at urban cookhouse. There, a buffalo chicken wrap is grilled chicken and melted cheddar.., no buffalo sauce or spice... just chicken, cheese in a tortilla served with a side of ranch. The menu claims that it comes with house made buffalo sauce but it was nowhere to be found. Then there is the jalapeño vinaigrette. You'd sorta figure it was have even a slight taste of pepper... but you'd be wrong. No heat, no spice... maybe some bell pepper but no jalapeño to be found. Sigh. It was good but boring food with no seasoning and certainly no spice. Somewhere between what you'd expect in a nursing home and a fast food drive through. I dined there with my family for an early dinner and we explored the menu at the counter and ordered at the counter with a friendly employee. My partner and I both ordered the Down Home Plate ($10), including ham and chicken, and two sides and a roll. We also ordered a glass of house wine for $6/each. The plate portions are pretty small, so I would recommend ordering an extra plate so you have enough food and can always take home leftovers if needed. I ordered the family "take home" meal from Urban Cookhouse. I ordered online and picked up in the drive thru it was easy and quick. The entree we chose was the grilled chicken it was juicy and seasoned perfectly, the two sides were the roasted vegetables and the hot cheddar pasta. The roasted vegetables are fresh and seasoned well and the hot cheddar pasta was covered in the right amount of cheese. I haven't been to Urban Cookhouse in several years. I was sad to see that it moved from 18th street to the less crowded (hence less things to do) area up the street. The casual ambiance remained as did most of their signature menu. We visited with a group of 10 including four children. The restaurant wasn't crowded and we were able to push tables together to accommodate our group. Each family ordered individually. Two of the groups' food came out almost at the same time. The third took awhile - they had to go to the counter to check on there's and still ended up waiting. I ordered the Berry Good salad. Fresh greens topped with strawberries, blackberries and blueberries, delicious candies pecans and feta. It came with a citrus vinaigrette but I think I'd rather have had a different dressing such as a balsamic vinaigrette. I also added a scoop of chicken salad which was good - no unexpected ingredients - just basic basic basic chicken salad. It was a nice addition. The salad came with an orange roll. I remembered that they were good so I ordered two. Some unthinking person put the roll on my husband's plate and he refused to give it up - the nerve. Hubs ordered the Urban Cowboy sandwich and the cheesy pasta. He enjoyed his sandwich but really liked the pasta - he raved about it so much that I will definitely order it on our next visit. Two of our table-mates ordered the veggie quesadillas. They both liked them but I don't think they'd order them again. The kids meals were fine for the little ones but the older kids weren't quite filled up. There is a menu item for almost everyone - vegan, gluten free, dairy free, even veggie free for the carnivores in the group. I'm glad we have an Urban Cookhouse in Huntsville. This place was really cool! It reminds me of Zoe's, but with a American Southern spin on the menu. It's a fast-casual eatery with a ton of options. I opted for the White BBQ sandwich with Mac & Cheese. The sandwich was really good no complaints, very tender with a great sauce. I love the new location. Lots more space and seating. Good for families and is kid friendly. There is parking in the back of the building as well as street parking. I ordered the lime steak, which came with rice and a salad. The food smelled wonderful, but I was disappointed in the taste. The steak was very tender but lacked flavor. Urban Cookhouse was fantastic for lunch yesterday. I had the Urban Cowboy, and I thought it was delicious. This is a steak sub on French bread. The steak is sliced and topped with peppers, onions, and pepper jack cheese. The lime marinaded steak was tender and flavorful. The aioli sauce is a mayonnaise-like spread with a hint of garlic. The sandwich is similar, but different from a Philly. They did an excellent job of pulling these ingredients together, and making the sandwich their own. I ordered the roasted vegetables as my side. It consisted of a nice combination of fresh veggies. But the veggies were a bit bland, and maybe a bit over cooked. Also, They seemed more like steamed than roasted. The restaurant was very busy.
