This is a long overdue review but a year and a half later, we are still compelled to write our review. We wish we had known about Urban Energy before our solar panels were originally installed. Mark, Raul, Tim, and the entire team were wonderful to work with and helped restore our system to full operation. After several years, the original mounting brackets failed, resulting in a roof leak and mold issue. We were fortunate to find Urban Energy during our roof replacement. Their team carefully removed all 33 panels and worked closely with our roofing contractor to ensure a smooth, coordinated process. Mark was exceptionally knowledgeable and patient in explaining the factors affecting our system, including how the panels should have been installed to account for their weight and proper roof support. He helped us understand where the original installation had fallen short and what was needed to correct it. We also discovered that our inverter had not been working for some time. Although it was still under warranty, it was nearly impossible for us as homeowners to reach SolarEdge. Raul went above and beyond, spending significant time securing the replacement inverter and getting the system running again. My solar system is 17 years old, and I noticed an error code. I contacted Urban Energy for service. Mark responded to my email in about an hour and provided some "do it yourself" things to try. A technician came out a day later, diagnosed an inverter failure, and provided a quote the same day. The cost was quite reasonable and two days later the inverter was installed and operational. What I got was fast service with no BS or up selling. The guys did a great job installing the inverter and cleaned everything up before leaving. Mark and everyone were great at answering my questions in terms that were easily understood. Overall, one of the best experiences I have had with contractors. My solar system inverter went out after 12 years of usage with no problems until . I thought it was probably the inverter but I wasn't sure . I called urban Energy Solar for a service appointment. Their electrician/ technician , Raul , came out and assured me that it was in fact the inverter . Of course the inverter was out of warranty by 2 years. Raul suggested that I get a new inverter made by Tesla , and my issues would be fixed . I agreed and had Raul come out and install the new Tesla inverter. Everything is back to working great again , Raul was great and I highly recommend him and the company he works for . Raul is an asset to this company . I first met Mark in 2023 when his company did warranty work on my Sunpower System whereas Other have failed Mark knew the issue and corrected it. Moving forward to here and now 2025. Sunpower is no longer around. I was in the market to re-roof my house and needed to remove 31 panels and reinstall. I managed to reconnect with Mark and also got quotes from 10+ other vendors. Mark knew what i needed and mentioned all the possible issues when uninstalling and reinstalling solar panels. Mark and Keith installed two Tesla Powerwall 2 batteries and a main panel replacement to my existing SunPower solar panels. They work great and have a nice app with an easy to understand diagram to see and change all on the system. They worked through the requirements of the county and SCE and had all approved on first inspections. We worked with Mark who helped us select the Sun Power A400 series solar panels, a superior product to other panels on the market and also carrying the best solar warranty in the industry with a 25 year warranty. Great company to work with. Mark came out to review the job and within a few days provided a very competitive quote. He worked with me to fine tune his offerings to exactly what worked best for me and even offered a few suggestions to enhance my existing system. From the beginning Mark stated they were about 60 days out. I took that to mean that they would start the process 60 days from sign of contract. I couldn't have been more pleased when Mark called about 30 days later to ask "when would you like us to start?" His crew was professional, courteous and neat. They arrived at the times they said and respected my property and neatly stored their tools and materials. Just as important they cleaned up after install. Absolutely freaking fantastic company to work with for all your residential solar needs! Was going to get my solar system installed by Tesla Energy formerly known as Solar City but a brief chat with Keith, one of Urban Energy's sales representatives convinced me to go with a superior and more aesthetically pleasing product from SunPower. Look it up SunPower is in a different league when it comes to efficiency and degradation. Trust me it is a far superior product than anything that is being offered by the other guys. In addition Keith kept pricing very competitive versus their competitors. I am glad that I made this decision. Their installation crew headed by Tim was top notch. Never did I hear the guys swear and we're absolutely professionally every single minute they were at my home. With little kids around the house this is important for me. They installation was super tidy and clean, the city inspector even commented on how professional the installation looked. Fast forward a few days past my installation, I had a few questions and it was Sunday. I decided to call and most probably leave a voicemail, but do you know what happened??? I began looking into solar in the beginning of August 2016 after my wife an I bought an EV. I started with some of the big named companies that advertise on the radio, went through Yelp, and even asked for some recommendations from friends. I received estimates from four companies and talked to many others over the phone. I researched everything I could find and in the end, every solar company that I dealt with left me some unanswered questions. Whether it was about experience, product, warranty, output, installation timeline....you name it, I was never confident enough to sign on for solar, probably because it was such a big and permanent investment. Then I spoke to Keith W. with Urban Energy. By far, Keith was the most knowledgeable of any of the sales representatives that I had spoken to. Over a period of a couple of weeks, Keith spent about 4 hours with me on the phone, exchanged multiple emails, and presented several different options. Always responsive to my requests, Keith would send me photographs, spec sheets, pricing, layout options, and much more. He contacted my local energy provider and determined the maximum system size allowed (including the future needs of my recently purchased EV). Satisfied, I signed with Urban Energy Solar sometime in mid September 2016. I purchased and did not lease. I went with: 26 LG Neon 2, 315 Watt panels 1 Solaredge Inverter 26 Solaredge Power Optimizers Estimated output about 12,200 kWh annually. Urban Energy handled all of the permits and plan submission with the city and my local power company and submitted paperwork on my behalf for a direct rebate from the power company. The office kept me informed throughout the process and within about five weeks they were out at my house to install the system. It took about 2 1/2 days to get the system completely installed on the roof, the side of my house, and in my garage (inverter). The installation went smooth and the guys (Raul especially) were polite and professional. I was impressed with the fit and finish of their work. All stucco, drywall, and electrical was repaired and painted to match the original finish and they cleaned up (daily) any debris that was caused during the installation phase. After the city, fire department, and power company signed off on the system, I began generating solar power in the first week of November. Since the system was activated, I have spoken to Mark M (owner) on several occasions to resolve an issue with internet/app monitoring of my solar system via the Solaredge website. Mark was very responsive to my questions and worked with me until the issue was resolved. Everyone at the company was a pleasure to deal with. Mark installed a solar panel system on my house here in Lakewood last October. It's worked perfect and looks great. I get a $10 bill each month from Edison it pays the taxes and fees and I might get a refund at the end of the year because I switch to time of use billing. One of my friends just used him for his solar panel system and to my surprise I received a referral bonus.
