My family and I first tried out Urban Kitchen the first week it opened back in February. Since then we've gone twice in March and it gets better with each visit! Admittedly, our first trip wasn't perfect. I ordered the ribs knowing that a diner style restaurant with that diverse a menu wouldn't be able to make ribs like they should. They were mediocre at best; but to their credit, the rest of our meal was delicious. In addition, the dressings and sauces are just about everything is made from scratch. Our two March visits have been exceptional. They have a nice variety on their kid's menu (I have a 9 and a 7 year old). I tried the reuben with pastrami and then came back the following week for the reuben with corned beef. I preferred the corned beef. As a side, I've ordered cole slaw for each meal and it's about the best restaurant quality cole slaw that I've ever had; and I've tried a lot of cole slaw. We also ordered the wings (naked) with the sauce on the side. Again, sauces and dressings are prepared fresh and just taste better. The complimentary bread basket with whipped butter is also a favorite of our family. Bottom line....Urban Kitchen has a diner-like menu. I don't know if everything is top-notch. I missed (a little) on the ribs. But everything else I've tried there: from the salad, to the wings, to the bang bang shrimp, to the sandwiches have been hits. While visiting my mom in Delaware we were on the hunt for lunch after a long day of shopping. Not sure of what to eat in the area I just picked up my phone and yelped "wings near me" and this place popped up! We were a little hesitant at first because there was about a 20 minute wait but we decided to put our names on the list strictly based upon how good everyone's food looked that was seated! (WILD I KNOW). Wait, was less than 5 minutes and we were seated within 7. The service was good and inside was neat, clean and organized. Everything went well! We were greeted immediately! Our server Ethan took the time to explain menu options and offered the appropriate level of attention.The crab stuffed mushrooms were delicious and large enough to be a full entree! I ordered the Shrimp Mediterranean pasta which was awesome and had a significant number of large shrimp. My husband had the Greek lamb chops and said they were cooked to perfection. I had the most nightmarish experience ever!!! I was seated after waiting 30 minutes, and this is where the nightmare begins. As soon as I was seated I went to the bathroom to wash my hands. When I came back a server named Alfred approached me, and asked me did I see some money on the table. I told him no, he murmured something, and said he'd be right back. He came back to take my order all the while acting annoyed. I later realized that this man thought I had stolen his tip!!!! He was argumentative, dismissive, and scolding when he did speak to me. Outside of that he simply ignored me. When I told him my eggs weren't to my liking, he felt it was his obligatory responsibility to enlighten me in the different types of egg preparations, and that I didn't know what I wanted. We made it to the end of this meal from hell, and I asked for to go containers. That I was lectured about as well. Unbeknownst to me I didn't know what containers were best for my beverage, and remaining food. At this point enough was enough!!! So in an attempt to defend myself I spoke up. Why did I do that? He preceded to really go in on me to imply that I stole his tip. I kept my wits about me, paid him for my meal, and left him no tip. I then proceeded to find a manager to report my experience. So beware of Alfred at this place you well leave with much more then you can for, and your day will be ruined!!! read more

I have eaten here a number of times and sometimes it is great, BUT I had the turkey with cranberry sauce and stuffing and it was really bad. Processed meat and messed me up for days. Don't get that. The only downfall to my pancakes was that the blueberries were sour, other than that they were huge, the breakfast on a whole was yummy and I was unable to finish. My friend and I came here for brunch! The place was pretty busy so they said our wait was 15-20mins. It ended up being less than that so we were able to sit down quickly. I ordered the Chesapeake eggs Benedict which came with breakfast potatoes. My friend got the breakfast quesadilla. They had fresh hot coffee which was pretty good as well. My Chesapeake eggs Benedict was really good however my eggs were overcooked a bit. Either way it was good. Potatoes were okay wanted them to be a little crispier. Service was efficient, friendly and attentive, but not overbearing. I had a Chicken Kebab and Greek Salad which was excellent. Chicken was cooked to perfection with onion, green pepper, tomato and mushrooms over a bed a nicely seasoned, moist rice. Greek Salad was fresh, crispy, had all the right ingredients (lettuce, tomato, red onion, excellent Feta and kalamata's with a simple vinaigrette. Omg. The first time that I came to this restaurant was in the spring of 2024 and both the menu and the food. Wow me and knocked my socks off. It was pretty amazing the other day when I took my husband here for the first time we ordered several different items to try and everything was not only fresh but delicious, we drove for about an hour from our house. It was on our anniversary actually 10 years of marriage. My husband decided to get the burger. I think he had the mushroom Swiss burger and I had the meat lovers. Omelette was perfect. We shared an order of waffle sweet potato fries, and also a side of French toast that was mind blowing, and I'm not even really in French toast. We saw one of the owners who was running food, checking on customers hoping the servers refill drinks and it was a beautiful thing because my grandparents had a restaurant for over 40 years and it was beautiful to see the owners in the trenches with the staff and not just sitting there on the sidelines, I can't say enough and yet they do not suffocate you when you are trying to enjoy your meal. We cannot wait to come back and everyone who we have talked to said that they have it on their list to try the big frying pan full of food is a great idea to keep your food hot, and visit my mother to be honest with you. She's a borderline pain in the butt however, she likes things just a certain way and in this day and age, I feel like everybody wants the most further money. The prices were not bad. This was my first time dining at Urban Kitchen and I am very pleased by my experience! I went with my large family for an early birthday celebration for my brother. There were 8 of us in total. We were a pretty large group for the size of the restaurant and the table was a bit crammed, but they were able to accommodate us nonetheless. Our server was very friendly and prompt with her service. She checked in often and made great recommendations for the food. I ordered the avocado skillet with a side piece of French toast and it was all very delicious. The serving portions are so much for the price. Others in my party ordered the chocolate chip pancakes, banana walnut pancakes, stuffed French toast, blueberry pancakes, Belgian waffles big breakfast, Mexican skillet, and classic Reuben. For drinks we had sunrise mimosas, a lemonade mimosa, Arnold Palmers, and coffee. I loved the free refills in the freshly made Arnold Palmers. All in all, everyone really enjoyed their meals. The cherry on top was that the restaurant had a gift card promo of buy a $100 gift card, get a $20 gift card free. So we purchased 2 to cover the bill and now have free gift cards to return! W O W.... On our way home from a weekend away and needed to find a breakfast spot. The reviews were very positive so we decided to give it a try... SO GLAD WE DID! Highly recommend Urban Kitchen. It was full but had a counter. Kimmi was so accommodating, cheerful and a real joy. The entire staff ALL worked as one and helped make our experience that much more memorable. One of the owners was present and very involved with ALL facets of the restaurant and clearly his passion was reflected in his team. Great Job Phillip ( I believe that's what his name was). We each got the Vegetable Skillet along with French toast and a chocolate chip pancake.. (with a whipped cream smiley face ) Everything was so tasty. Fresh and hot! The Bloody Mary's where fantastic too. The decor was very fitting for the name! They also had a take out window. BATHROOM: two unisex private bathrooms available. Spacious, clean and comfy. Automatic water faucets that after a few cycles the water gets hot. Automatic soap dispenser and DYSON air blade. The door opens in so no paper towels to open handle. I was a little confused that the trash can needed a little attention since there was no real need for it... A local couple sat next to us and couldn't say enough good things about this place! I've been there for breakfast and I've been there for lunch twice! All 3 times my eyes rolled up in my head at first bite! French toast breakfast in a skillet was perfect! Cheeseburger and onion rings and the apple walnut salad!!! Amazing!!! I have been there with a group of 8 and with 2 people and with my husband...the food is just amazing! I love it that its diverse in races and cultures... anyone who loves good food eats there! And when you go with other people you always want to go back and get what they ordered! This is just a really good breakfast spot. Visiting from out of town and had breakfast with my family. The wait was reasonable for our large party on a Saturday morning and our waitress was so sweet and accurate. Everyone's order was correct and the food itself was delicious! I love the crab Benedict. Only con is, it's a super small place but it looks like they are looking to change that based on the view of construction on the one side of the restaurant. Overall good experience here.
