My wife and I were very impressed that he was at our home for the entire job- before the job commenced he took his entire crew around the property explaining exactly what was to be done. He was on the job with his crew for the whole time supervising but also working right along with them. The job they did can only be described as PERFECT. We have lived in our community for 42 years and have had numerous landscapers and lawn care people working at our home over the years. JHMC has been one of the best. The projects included replacement and extension of existing concrete patio with pavers, leveling of the backyard, fixing the stairs to the patio, fixing the stairs to the front entrance, trimming of a tree and replacement of front path to sidewalk as well as to driveway. It was an extensive project and we didn't know quite to expect. I had posted in Somerville Community Facebook page for recommendations and JT came highly recommended. We contacted a couple of the suggestions and he was the most prompt and professional. He came to assess the situation and provided really good suggestions (different than we had initially thought). It made sense to do what he said and we appreciated the advice. He was not pushy, however, just spoke with conviction and promised we would be happy with the results. He provided an estimate with details and provided it quickly. When the work actually started, he brought his crew and they were great. They were hard working, detail oriented and took pride in their work. There was a lot going on at once but they stuck to the schedule (came early and stayed late). We made adjustments along the way and they were happy to oblige. We were very impressed by the scope of what they could do. The tree trimming was a last minute add because we didn't know they could do such a job. It's pretty clear that they have extensive experience by the ease in which they took on each project. The price was reasonable and it was completely worth it because they did the work in a short time (over the course of 3 weeks, 2 weeks of allowing materials to dry and 1 week of actual work). I am in a firm believer in "you get what you pay for" because of the quality of work, diligence and professionalism . I always look to see if the workers are happy and that is the sense I got with them. I would definitely recommend this company if you have outdoor projects. We thought we had some pretty odd requests and were pleasantly surprised at how they tackled them.

Joe promised, and Joe delivered…read more When my wife and I moved out of Brooklyn and bought our home in East Brunswick, we fell in love with all the landscaping the previous owners meticulously put in. Our property felt like a botanical garden, far exceeding the standard run-of-the-mill landscaping jobs you see in most neighborhoods. What I didn't realize at the time was how completely unprepared I was to maintain this level of landscaping. Even after renewing the previous owners' contract with Broehl's (the local gold standard for lawn care and maintenance) there was still too much to do. Unfortunately, I have a black thumb for this kind of thing, and there's only so many checks I can afford to write to try and keep things looking good. So for the past few years my wife and I have actually invested money in scaling *back* some of the landscaping; essentially ripping out and replacing some of the more complicated beds that have steadily been beat on over the last few brutal winters and didn't look good any more. When we met with Joe, we were clear that we wanted nice-looking beds, but nothing that would be over-the-top difficult to care for and maintain. And we wanted clear sight lines down our front yard so we could see our kids playing in the street. The overall amount of work we need to do to get our property where we really want it is pretty staggering, so Joe discussed a phased plan that would allow us to get started without breaking the bank. Long story short, he and his crew ripped out the mess of bushes and plants and undergrowth that marked the front and center portion of our lawn. He designed a simple, but elegant bed that he said would look great but wouldn't be impossible to maintain. He took photos of our property in advance, and then simulated his recommended design over the photos via computer, allowing us to "see" what it would look like before we'd have to commit. As you can see from the photos, Joe and his crew did a great job. My wife and I couldn't be happier with the work. We get a ton of compliments on the before and after. (Unfortunately I didn't take pictures of the before, but trust me -- this was a huge leap forward.) Truth be told, you're really at a disadvantage if you cannot do at least some of your own landscaping. Professional landscaping is expensive -- plain and simple. And frankly, I hate paying for it. But as I said in my previous review, Joe is a no-nonsense, honest businessman. If, as the saying goes, a man is only as good as his word, Joe is a good man. He and his crew are completely professional and do great work at a very competitive price. Just look at the photos and see the work for yourself.
