Absolutely Disgusting and Racist - DO NOT GO HERE If I could give Urban Nail Bar in Addison zero stars, I would. This was, without a doubt, the worst nail salon experience I've ever had. From the moment my girlfriend (who is white) and I (a Black man) walked in, the staff treated us with blatant disrespect. The nail techs were extremely aggressive, yanking my hands and legs like I wasn't even human. They were so rough that they actually made me bleed multiple times. No apology, no care--just straight-up negligence. Meanwhile, my girlfriend's nails were a complete disaster--uneven, sloppy, polish all over her skin, and just flat-out unfinished. It looked like a child did them. And here's the kicker--I still tipped 20+% before realizing just how terrible they did on my girlfriend's nails. When I finally saw them, I had to go back, track down her nail tech, and ask her to finish the job she never completed in the first place. That level of unprofessionalism is insane. But the worst part? They laughed at her. The owner (or whoever they were) came over, looked at her botched nails, and literally laughed at them while giggling with the other staff. Completely humiliating and disgusting behavior. If you're Black, do not go here. They clearly have no problem being openly racist and disrespectful. Deep bleeding cuts for the first time in my life of dozens of pedicures - the excessive cuticle cutting and poor technique is unsafe for nail health. I drove 30 mins to this location and I am now worried if it's getting infected it's still red, and irritated, and painful (3 days of neosporin and it's still not resolving). *disclaimer I have an acrylic overlay on right toe because of a broken nail underneath. Came in on a Tuesday at 10:30 with no appointment and was out an hour later. Paid $102 not including tip for a pedicure, dip nails with added tips and gel toe removal which was an extra $5. The dip I picked out was supposed to have glitter but I think there was a mix up or misunderstanding which isn't really a big deal to me bc I'm very pleased with the work, quality and time. Both technicians were patient and worked with me as I made a decision for my nails and my toes. With the rising cost of nail services, they explained the cost to me prior to starting and the services were reasonably priced compared to other places. I can't wait to come back. I have mixed feelings about this nail salon. I walked in and was greeted by a young lady at the counter. She asked me if I had an appointment, and if not to check in on their kiosk. This was different and I was excited for the simple fact that I could put everything I wanted in. Before coming in, I knew who I wanted to do my nails as I've been watching their IG lately. I asked for Kathy, chose the fill option as well as a pedicure with gel polish. I sat down at one of the chairs/nail chairs and waited about 5mins. Eventually a young guy came over, which I later learned his name was Dan. No Hi, Hello, How are you, nothing. Just started drilling away on my nails. I was also concerned as he didn't strike me as a Kathy... nor did he look like her picture. After about 5mins he asked me if I wanted a pedicure too. I was confused, as I had filled out the kiosk requesting this. I told him yes and we went to the pedicure chairs. Lan was SUCH a sweetheart and she's one reason I'd come back! One of my pinky nails was broken and Dan asked me, "What happen? You been punchin' b*****s?" and I chuckled uncomfortably and said no. He proceeds to do my nails and pushes the question again, "You been out here fighting these b*****s?" I looked at him without smile and let him know I was not only a fighter, but entirely too old for that. Can you say microaggression? I don't believe he'd ask another race that if they came in with a broken nail. I think he noticed my unhappiness by his statement and let it go. Overall, the work they did was good. I'd say 7/10 overall. I have a black spot on my nail from slamming it in the door and he pretty much covered it all wish polish, which was appreciated. The pedicure alone was A1. The ambiance is beautiful, complimentary drinks, looks new and clean. Another save for this visit was Vicky, I think she was the owner or manager but she was a doll. Refilled drinks as well as very personable. Introduced herself, asked me how the service was and etc. Unfortunately, I did not want to bring up his comments and risk him messing up my nails. Literally went for a soak off and gel on my natural nails because they were at a at my goal length. One lady started my nails in the soak off process and was doing a soak and drill interval on my nails . Then a guy starts doing my nails with the same interval but with a file on the tip of my nails . Next the lady comes back with a drill and soak interval on the tips of my nails again. At this point I realized that on one of my nails half of my nail length was gone! The man then tried to tell me my nail grows on a deep slant on that one nail ( that was definitely a lie) . The receptionist then came to resolve the issue and told me they can just put a tip on that nail. I didn't like that option but I had no other option so I agreed. She walked away , then next thing I noticed the man literally just cut down two of my nails . He told me he was just making them square ( which I never asked for!) I then compared with my hand and there was most definitely a length difference. Another lady then came and told me they have to cut the because my nails were week as if they didn't just drill and file on my nails for 45mins! I lieterally left the salon with absolutely no nails at all! It was so unprofessional and the man doing my nails was literally on the phone the whole time obviously not paying any attention. My daughter and I tried urban nail bar for the first time and was quite disappointed to say the least. Prior to stopping in, I called and asked if they had a kid chair. The gentleman told me yes they do but there in fact wasn't. This was suppose to be a mother/daughter experience and it took approximately 35-40 minutes for my daughter to get attended to while my nails had already been started. My daughter is only 4 and began to grow impatient, repeatedly asking why am I only getting my nails done. Unfortunately, she began to tear up and goodness, never thought this experience would turn left for us. When I asked why are other people getting taken care of before my daughter and that we were there for a while already and before others, the only feedback I received was that they had no one. Yet, two other techs came out from the back to attend to the ladies next to my daughter whom arrived 20 minutes after we did. Not only was this poor service, I noticed during check out the over charge in pricing. Charging my daughter for an adult pedicure vs a "princess pedi". At this point, I was just ready to leave, didn't even bother to bring it up or complain. Again, this was suppose to be a positive experience and didn't want to make this even more frustrating.
