They're honest with what they can or can't do so that you get exactly what you want. They also take the time to ask what you'd like, and even go nail by nail if that's you're thing, just to make sure you're happy. I don't get my nails done often because I don't find the process relaxing usually and if I spend that much time in there, I feel like I need some nail art or something I can't do at home which other places can't do intricate nail art, but this spot is perfect! Also, they were so accommodating to seat my friend and I together who got different services ie mani vs Pedi that we had such a great time that I actually found it relaxing and want to make this a routine thing rather than special treat. I visited today for a manicure and booked a Tier 2 appointment. Initially, my nail technician told me she couldn't do the design I wanted because of the appointment type I selected. About halfway through the service, she said she could do the design after all, but I would need to be charged for a Tier 3 appointment. I agreed and proceeded with the service. However, at the end of the appointment, I was told my hand massage would be skipped because she was running behind for her next client. This was disappointing, especially since the same thing happened during my previous visit with a different technician. The technician was very kind, but she appeared to be new and frequently needed assistance from another staff member. What confused me most was the pricing. According to the salon's website, Tier 2 includes French tips with chrome, which is the design I received, yet I was still charged for a Tier 3 service. Overall, while the final nails turned out fine, I was disappointed by the inconsistent pricing and not receiving the full service that was included with my appointment--particularly on two separate visits. read more

Very calming in this place - it was full not loud but the service was great! I was offered a water sparkling or still on arrival, given a fantastic manicure, and assisted in finding the perfect color for the day. Though I wish the staff was a little more excited to chat (I love coming to the nail salon and meeting new people including my tech and neighbors) I was extremely happy with the manicure. I just got the bare gel as it was my first time and I have had such bad luck win nail places around Seattle. This one left my hands looking AMAZING as well as had lasted a split 2 weeks with no chips or cracks. This was my first time at Urban Nail Box and my experience was amazing! I'm from out of town and I was looking for a nail salon in the greater Seattle area that could do quality nail art. I found this salon after some research, and brought in some reference photos for the appointment. My nails were done by Chloe, and she really took her time making sure each nail was done perfectly. Chloe and the receptionist were both super friendly, and I had a great time chatting with them during my appointment. The appointment lasted about 3 hours between my mani and pedi. My first experience was amazing - I wondered if similarly rated salons would compare, but after some tests I discovered they do not! Urban Nail Box is far superior. Booking online is super easy. They fill up quickly so I recommend booking in advance. There's always been someone available to check me in and I'm seated shortly after. They offer sparkling water and tea. Haven't been in a while, but it looks like they did some updates to the space - it's definitely more modern and minimal looking than most other salons. I've gotten both regular and gel polish here. The paraffin wax is so nice on your skin, I recommend the package with that. I never feel like I'm rushed or being pushed out the door when I'm near finished. I only go on occasion, but this is the only salon in Seattle I'll visit! I have not had a better nail experience in my life! In the past, I have chosen more affordable salons that tend to hurt or damage my nails and the experience is usually quick and sometimes painful. Being new to Seattle, one of my first missions was to find a nail salon. I chose 3 that I wanted to try before deciding where to become a regular. Urban Nail Box was the second that I tried. I got to the area a bit early so that I could explore a bit. I was able to get some work done in a coffee shop around the corner. There's also eyebrow threading nearby, which is convenient if you like to knock everything out at once like I do. I really enjoyed Urban Nail Box. The space is very comfortable, and the staff are welcoming and helpful. They had a selection of complementary drinks to choose from. They also have a decent selection of colors. The colors are actually on a website, which made it a bit difficult to choose from. I'm not great at visualizing how the colors will look on me so I prefer to see the colors on the physical display. Tristie was incredibly helpful, though. She showed me some options so that I could pick the one I liked the most. Since it was my birthday, I treated myself to the Gel Ultimate Urban Mani and Pedi. She did a wonderful job. Actually, this might have been the most relaxing pedicure I have EVER gotten. And I've had my fair share. While I did miss having a massage chair, I found the couch at the pedicure station to be very comfortable. This is my second time getting my nails done with Urban Nail Box (first one was at Fremont), but their Ballard location is much more accessible to me. It's much smaller than the the Fremont location, but the service is as good (or maybe even better). I got my nails done by Tin, who's super nice. Her style is maximalism (as she mentioned), so the design that I brought to her was on the simpler side. She even made sure I paid the proper amount, which is so commendable! I got there at 12:15, I was out by 12:50pm. And in between my appointment, Tin was welcoming every customer that came in and even opened the door to some customers that were struggling with it. By the end of it, she made sure that I knew of the store's policies (like if I ever chip my nail within a certain time frame, touch up, etc). They won't let you pay for a gel removal if you didn't get your nails done at their salon in the first place. They are always booked up so I had to go somewhere else in the meantime so it sucks that they won't remove anything from another salon. UNB has been my go to for a few years now and really appreciate that it is woman owned and operated though I feel like the quality has decreased significantly. My last mani, the tech forgot the top coat and sent me out, I had to come back a day later for touch ups. I had all these ideas on Pinterest and she took the simple ideas I had and made it better - being clear about color, design, and accents every step of the way. I loved how honest she was about what she could do with nail art...I've been to enough places where they say they can do something and it looks so bad but they still upcharge you for it anyway. Here - you get what you pay for. Parking can be a pain, lucky enough to get street parking but the small lot in front of the salon has been full the two times I've been. They also have water or la croix for you as you walk in and I feel their prices are reasonable for the level of nail art you can get.
