I just moved to the area and I wanted to get my nails done. The artist was nice, but the gel I got on my nails looked like I had done it myself at home, and some of it got on my skin and it peeled off sections of the gel on my nails when it came off. My nails are peeling off and I just got this done a few days ago. I paid $70 for something that hasn't even lasted a week. I'm pretty upset and I definitely won't be back. I recently got acrylic nails again (relatively decent but nothing to write home about, at a different salon) and broke two and damaged two while cleaning my house. I came in as a walk-in for a fill (and to have the busted ones fixed) because I have a job interview tomorrow and I couldn't really go in for that when my nails were a hot mess. My nails look INCREDIBLE! Ho (I hope I spelled her name right - I'm terrible with names) gave me the most incredible nails I've ever had. Not only are my broken ones replaced, but the ones that were all effed-up and cracked look completely new again. But the thing about which I am most impressed is that she is a true artist - my nails look so thin and delicately sculpted that it's hard to tell they're not real. But even though they look delicate, they're rock solid. I will definitely be a return customer for my maintenance - I loved getting my mani/pedis here but now that I know my fake nails will look amazing, I'm not going to go anywhere else to get them done. I gave this place 5 chances because it's so close to my house, they do a decent though slow job, and the prices are reasonable...until you have cuticles cut down to the point of bleeding 3 out of the 5 visits (2 of those times I mentioned that they be very careful after the first time I bled in English and Vietnamese) and manicurists who talk shit about you in a language she thinks you don't understand when you politely ask her to fix a sloppily painted nail. After calmly waiting for her to finish repainting my nail I let her know that I understood what she said about me since I grew up speaking Vietnamese. (To my face in English she said oh yeah, I'll fix that for you honey tell me and I'll fix it in a sweet as pie voice and in Vietnamese told her coworkers I was making things difficult and hard to deal with when it didn't look that bad.) I figured they just made a mistake, and went back to tell them. One of the charges dropped off the next day. Then TWO days after my pedicure, I was charged again, the same amount. I had to close my debit account and report fraudulent activity. If you have the same experience close your account immediately and report. I love going to 10th Ave Nails. Been going to them for the last 3 years..mostly in the summer time. The owner Susan is super nice. The price is very good for their service. I got a mani-pedi yesterday for only $32. They have these big comfy leather massage chairs. I maybe biased because I haven't really been to other nail salons b/c this place is so close to me. It is a clean nail salon but doesn't have all the frills of an upscale place. I've been mostly happy with all my manicures and pedicures. Their nail colors selection could use a bit updating. Everytime I come in, it's pretty much the same colors. I usually stick to a French mani-pedi but I got an OPI red this time. I don't think waxing is their forte. I had them wax my eyebrows once and it was ok..not great, but she didn't ruin my eyebrows either. I would just stick to the inexpensive mani-pedis and try to go during happy hour (9:30-2pm). read more

The prices at Tenth Avenue Nails are cheap at any hour, but the $28 manicure/pedicure ($18 pedicure) during Happy Hour (9:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.) is insanely cheap! As many other reviewers have said, this is a no frills nail salon. The color selection leaves something to be desired. I brought my own polish for my fingers, which was good because the selection of neutrals was limited. The salon seems very clean and the service was quick. The quality of the mani/pedi was pretty average for a cheap nail salon. The massage was fine but not amazing, and my toenails turned out ever so slightly crooked. Pros: I was able to call in 30 minutes prior and get a fill and a pedi. It only cost me $44 before tip. My nails looked great and the color is awesome. The lady who did my pedicure was sweet but didn't speak English. Cons: The tools were not cleaned after every use. They were grabbed from a plastic container and wiped on a towel before use (ew). This spot is close to my house, so I was happy when I walked in and they could get me started with no wait. There were no customers and three ladies watching TV. * The salon was HOT. I was sweating. I got here at 9:45 am on a Thursday morning for their $30 mani/pedi Happy Hour deal. The mani/pedi took about an hour. The whole experience was a little bit stressful. When I walked in, two women sitting on the waiting couch gave me quizzical looks before waving me towards the polishes to choose a color (OPI or a few Essie bottles) when I said mani/pedi. Every guest that came in after me did get a "hello, how can I help you?" though. No one at the salon is fluent was English. I brought my own ridge-filling base coat (Seche Vite) and gel-like, quick dry top coat (Julep), but had trouble getting them to use them. Because of the language barrier, I had to point out which was the base coat and which was the top coat multiple times. The woman doing my mani forgot to use them before I asked, then the woman doing my pedi tried to put the top coat on before the color! I stopped her, but it took a minute of protesting before another staff member eventually understood what I was saying (base coat, color, THEN top coat, duh!) and translated for me. Pedi turned out fine, but my mani (a light pink) is a bit streaky. My nail shaping was fine. The shoulder and hand massage is awkward, and the environment is clean, if a bit bare. They did spend a lot of time on my hiking/climbing-worn feet and cuticles, but overall, I wouldn't go back. read more

On the plus side, this place is clean and friendly. And clean goes a long way. Also, I liked the bonus 2-minute shoulder/neck massage they provided with the mani-pedi. On the minus side, I was not impressed with my services. The person doing my mani cut my cuticle too far and it bled. The person doing my pedi completely phoned in the leg/feet massage. It was like getting a massage from a stoned toddler. And the whole experience was super slow. Plus, I had to wait at least 15 minutes soaking in the water, which would have been OK had I been warned in advance. I think a lot of what you get here depends on who you get. I really hate to write such a negative review, but I have given this place so many chances and every single time I leave wishing I had done my nails myself. Tran is the only one who can paint your nails without getting it all over your cuticles. Everyone else paints like it's their first time. I have to ask them to make sure my nails are evenly filed and even that seems to be too much to ask. They are extremely rude and constantly talk about you if you ask them to redo something that you're not happy with. If you like your nails evenly filed and painted without having to clean up every nail, I wouldn't go here. read more
