I came in with a design I wanted on all my fingernails, with several of them looking at the photo and saying they could do it (after making me change seats 4 times) and then, of course, while the manicurist is in the middle of doing my nails, he says he doesn't have time to do all my nails in the design, just one on each hand.Which he could have told me right away. While it was toward the end of the day, other walks-in came after me that received service, so it wasn't that big a time issue. I was about to go out of town, but the more I thought about it, the more irritated I get because he still got a generous tip from me. I'm aware nails are a first world issue kinda thing but with that being said this is my honest review of my appointment today. POOR shade selection of gel. I've never been to a salon with less choices. I wanted DND 715 Island Punch. They didn't have it and the nail tech/owner suggested OPI Cajun Shrimp. Looked pretty close so I went with it. OPI shade was not nearly as bright or orange. It's red. Whatever. I understand that he is the owner and busy but maybe you shouldn't be doing nails as a tech at the same time and just manage because the staff needed his help constantly. I made an appointment because I was going in on my lunch break. I was late getting back and shouldn't have been. I work 5 minutes away but he had to stop and spend at least 15 minutes answering the phones and pulling shades for other techs. To top it off, he answered the phone and tried to still 'file' my nails while using one hand to hold the phone... you can't file with one limp hand. I didn't tip and left. I went to get my nails done prior to going on vacation. Everyone was extremely nice. I enjoyed my pedicure and my toenails looked nice. I got a full set on my hands and unfortunately, I really didn't like them. They weren't really shaped naturally and the dip/gel top coat made the nails really thick. I cannot stand thick nails !!! I thought about saying something but didn't have the time to stay to get them corrected. I went home and shaped them as best as I could and took them off immediately when I returned from my vacation. first of all, i booked an appointment for them to take walk ins while i was waiting. it ended up taking them 2 hours to do a acrylic fill (no designs, hardly any shaping) they had 2 people work on my nails as they said they were short staffed. NO BIG DEAL!! they couldn't find the first color i asked for, they said they were out so i picked something else. my problem with all of this is when i go to check out they charged me twice ($30 for one person and $20 for the other) to work on my nails. $20 to paint my nails?!?! that seems outrageous. on top of that they still expect me to tip when i was quoted $20 less. so not only did you have me sit there for 2 hours, not have my color choice, and made me dance between employees but now i have to pay the employees? isn't that the companies job? read more

JC Nails is a nice place to go for personalized services in St. Matthews. It's conveniently located in a strip mall on Shelbyville Rd between Hubbards Lane & Thierman Lane. Craig & Landreth auto sales (used to be Tafel Motors) is across the street. It's best to call ahead for appointments, but they do take walk-Ins when scheduling permits. I like to get manicures, pedicures & eyebrow waxing done there. They also offer micro-blading and lash services. The prices are reasonable and the staff is always so nice. read more

Worst nail experience of my life. First I went in on Saturday and had them done. The man's hand that did them was so shaky I knew they weren't going to look right. It felt like my hand was vibrating the whole time. The man did a terrible job. It was like he just slapped acrylic gel on and called it a day. Flash to 2 days later and two of my nails came off from lifting and two more started to lift. So I went back considering I spent 50 dollars plus tip on these. The lady that fixed them was so rude. You could tell she wasn't happy about having to fix them. She asked me if I knew how to do nails. She told me maybe I should learn to do my own nails since I'm "picky". Wow. I never took a pic of my nails the first time. But the pic attached is after she supposedly fixed them. They still don't look good. They not only don't know how to do nails but they're very rude. Ok, guys. I am pretty reasonable and don't expect the world delivered to me on a gold platter... however... I was less than impressed. Here's why; 1. Customer Service. They pointed me in directions... instead of leading me there. I didn't know exactly where to go in other words. I found myself saying "Oh, that chair... oh, ok, no, you mean this chair.. I'm sorry, where am I supposed to go?" As a customer/client I shouldn't have to feel like I'm the ignorant party in this arrangement. I should be taken care of. They do NOT do that here. ... they treat you like cattle and if you do not know what to do next... they do not help you. In fact, you find yourself standing aimlessly having to ask what to do next. It is embarrassing and unnecessary. 2. The Nails. I did a dip and the color of it was gorgeous ON THE SWATCH. End result on my nails... it was just kind of dull. I was pretty disappointed. However, they are still nice looking nails. Just not what I thought they would be. The final result did not match the swatch. But then again I must revisit the poor customer service and say that I definitely felt like I was on HER clock, not mine. I have been going to jc nails for a few years now and never had any trouble but I recently had a terrible experience especially customer service. I showed a picture of exactly what I want something not too hard and was told that it could be done. An ombré nail with snowflakes. at the end of the appointment they told me it couldn't be done. they tried to stick a sticker on my nail that didn't even look like a snowflake. I told them to leave it off. I paid 60 dollars for it and decided that I'll just deal with it. however after I left I realized my nails were not straight and uneven not to mention not what I asked for. I called the next day asking to get them redone or a refund. I am very busy and only had few days I could get them done before the holidays and before my event the next day. no days seemed to work so I asked for a refund and said they cannot help us and proceeded to talk over and ignore me and my mom. they were very rude and talk to us terribly and didn't care if we ever came back or left a bad review. Pedicure with bleeding! Went to get a pedicure before a hiking vacation. The tech was very rough pushing back cuticles on right foot and then when trimming cut the cuticle with peeled back skin on great right toe. It bleed most of the time I was there. Went for a walk last night and started bleeding again!. Kept me awake last night as it is hurting. Charged full price and the pedicure was a partial pedicure. She did not clean under nails. I've gone here twice and the location is super convenient for me since I live so close! All around they are quick, have great customer service and the prices are very affordable. They get every customer in within 10 minutes of arrival which I love since I'm super impatient- yes I can admit it. I always get a shellac manicure ($30) and this time I also got a pedicure ($30). The pedicure looks great but I've never been super satisfied with my manicure. I even asked for them to take care of my nail beds/ cuticles and there are still some left! Clean place with comfy chairs and friendly staff! I noticed they have water bottles, but was not immediately offered one on this hot and humid day. I'm used to always being offered a beverage without asking. Their prices and color selection for gels is better than most places around town. I was a little surprised that most salons in Louisville (not just this place) have higher prices or simply don't offer deals for mani/pedis combos. Called ahead to ask if there was a wait and was told no wait. When I arrived no one came up for a few minutes when they did and I ask for a pedicure a woman said okay and then walked away. The lady then came back and rudely told me I should have followed. I finally sit in the chair (which was nice if not a little awkward to get into) and she turns on the water and walks away. The basin begins to fill higher and higher and she nor anyone comes to check for 15 minutes. Finally when it's about to overflow and I'm about to panic I get the attention of another tech who comes over and just turns it off but doesn't drain anything so I can actually put my feet in. I am then left alone for another 20 minutes. When a tech finally arrives it takes maybe five minutes for her to do the pedicure and paint my nails (which she also decides to inform me that the nail polish I picked was old and that I should have picked a different one but proceeds to use it instead of letting me pick something else). This was my first time ever getting any sort of nail treatment and I was excited. However I am pretty turned off by this whole experience. Granted I may not have understood everything about what I should have done but for $30 I am heavily disappointed. read more
