I went there with ripped nails and cuts from several salons in the Taylorsville Rd, Hurstbourne area. Was very willing to drive to 79 NAILS on Hurstbourne, near Westport Road, with the promise that they would take care of me. AND THEY DID!! My pedicures are mostly done by Angel. A real sweetheart of a lady. Very thorough. Takes her time to clean and prep your nails with TLC. My fill ins are done by Rachel. She is great with appointments and very consistently on time, unless previous customers drag their feet. She is quick, and you will LOVE your results. She pays close attention to detail and you will leave there with the best fill in ever!! Let me tell you about their NEW PEDI CHAIRS!! See my photo. So many choices for massage. The chairs are able to adjust to assist with holding up your legs while they scrub, soften the bottom of your feet. Vee is the owner, and I tell you, that girl NEVER stops. If she's not working with customers, she is straightening, dusting, folding, vacuuming, cleaning every chair, floor, sink, etc, in there!! More energy than I have ever seen!!!! I'll start with a compliment--after work around 6 o'clock, I was able to get in at this salon within about 5 minutes! Unfortunately, I think I may know the reason this shop isn't busier. It's always a red flag for me when a shop showcases OPI nail polish, but doesn't actually offer it. I was in for a gel manicure and a toe polish change (I recently had a pedicure with my normal technician, who is currently out of the country--which is how I ended up here). Granted, the previous polish on my toes was dark (OPI shade Lincoln Park After Dark for my ladies who know); but the nail technician made VERY LITTLE effort to actually remove it. It's going to take a little more than 1 barely-moist cotton poof, so I was subjected to intense scrubbing with subpar results. I had to ask her to remove more of it, to little avail. I have included photos of the previous polish that can still be seen, despite me choosing a bright red that would typically mask any small imperfections. We then moved to the manicure. I was subjected to very uncomfortable pushing of my cuticles with THE NAIL TECHNICIAN'S OWN NAILS. She would eventually get a real tool, but I have never had a professional tech do this! Not even sure that is sanitary. On completion of the manicure, there was poor polish coverage & bubbles around the edges. I had asked for festive nail art (Valentine's Day is around the corner)--it was like pulling teeth to get a decent design. It doesn't look horrible from afar but up close it looks like a child's artwork. I won't be back and will not recommend. read more

I am changing my rating due to my most recent experience. I went in two and a half weeks ago to receive a full set of acrylics with regular polish. The customer service was lovely per usual, and my nails initially looked beautiful. Approximately 13 days following the service, I noticed two of my nails separating from my nail bed (this indicates the service was not done properly). After 15 days, I lost two nails. While I greatly appreciate the service, I think it is unlikely I will continue to go to 79 Nails due to this most recent experience. When I pay decent money for a service, I need to know that the nails will be durable. I do not engage in activities that would lead to my nails breaking, and I've never had this concern before. read more

Moved to area looking for nail salon. Highly recommend this hidden gem. My appointment started on time and Vy and Angel are the best. They took the time to thoroughly prep my nails for no chip & pedicure. They did not rush through like other salons. They are careful and expertly shaped my cuticles. Everyone was very nice but this was probably one of the worst pedicures I've gotten. The lady doing my nails was super distracted trying to watch tv half the time. A 30 minute pedicure took over an hour because she'd stop and just watch tv for 5 minutes. She was so distracted she cut my toe while trimming my toenails. She barely apologized, just sort of said "Oh sorry" and laughed and kept going. Now 24 hours later my toe is still sore. She cut all my bails waaay too short. The actual pedicure was really messy and sloppy too, I could've painted my nails if that's the result I wanted. It was just not a good experience overall. read more

This place is the absolute worse place. I went in there at 4pm yesterday to get my lip waxed. The lady who did it clearly did not now what she was doing. I left after getting it done around 5pm I started to see redness and irritation around my upper lip and it continued to hurt hours after which isn't normal. I woke up this morning and my whole upper lip is red and cracking. I took a closer look and noticed that she had ripped my skin off! I went back to show her what she had done because that was completely unacceptable. This is on my face the first thing people look at. I told her that if she didn't know how to wax she should have said something. She continued to tell me that it was my fault and I must have done something. The way she pulled the strand from my face I automatically knew that something wrong was going to happen! The strand stuck to my face and she had to use full force. read more

I love my nails!! I kept trying to find a place that was close to me that I liked and I've found a winner. The location doesn't look like much from the outside but when you go inside, its a completely different atmosphere; its really relaxing and everyone is very friendly. I came in for a french manicure and Vi was the person that did my nails. She was helpful in trying to help me find a pink tone that I liked and took her time while doing my nails, to ensure that they turned out perfectly. Came back for the first time in years. Not only was I not asked which pedicure I wanted, but was charged for the most expensive and didn't get any of the services provided. My feet felt just as rough leaving as they did when I arrived and sore from cutting my nails too short. Had to sit and wait while my friend had their feet done. I am going to give a 4 star rating because for the most part I think they do a great job and I just had a bad experience. I was looking for another nail salon after a terrible job by another salon. Vee did my daughter's nails and did an amazing job. They were the shape she liked and they stayed on and looked beautiful. I waited a full two weeks after she had hers done just to see how they lasted. My daughter is 16, goes to school and works and is rough on her nails. These nails were strong and lasted without any breaks or chips. So I walked in on a weekday (no wait) and showed them my daughter's nails and told them that I wanted the color that she had. It was a beautiful burgundy color. Vee said she knew the color and would get it. She told me to sit at a particular table with a gentleman who was going to apply my tips and then Vee would do the acrylics. I asked that my cuticles be pushed back and trimmed beforehand so he asked if I wanted a manicure also. I told him I would pay for a manicure also, if that was the only way they would do my cuticles. I didn't get a manicure and they didn't charge for one but they did do my cuticles. I showed Vee what shape I was looking for and she said OK. Now comes the part that loses their 5th star. She did my nails, quite sloppily. Acrylic was dripping off my nails into her table, she just kept wiping it off, I was thinking "this is horrible!" but, once she was finished before the filing and painting, I figured that must just be how she does it, because they looked pretty normal for that stage in the process. So the filing and smoothing are done and she tells me to go wash my hands. At this point she tells me that it isn't Christmas anymore that she likes this grey colour better than the burgundy and proceeded to upsell me to the grey shellac colour instead. I liked the colour and the longer lasting shellac so that is not a negative. She finishes up, they aren't chunky and look good, I paid, tipped and left. I felt like I had been in there a long time, but didn't realize, it had been two hours! Anyway, I ran a couple errands and while doing so realized that a couple of my nails had been filed crooked and one was not even the same shape as the other nine. So I jotted back over explained the issue and she fixed them and repainted them no charge. I went home and made dinner and the more I did the more I realized the problems. My fingers were stuck to the nails underneath, I had to pull them back and get the acrylic off my finger tips, two of my nails had acrylic over the side of my finger. So, in closing, four stars for an amazing job on my daughter's nails and a mediocre job on mine. Everyone has an off day. I guess I got hers. Just to clarify my 4 stars instead of 5, while I was there, both times, I was looking at all the other nails that were being done, they all looked very nice the paint jobs were very nice and all of the clients seemed to be regulars based on the conversation between nail techs and clients. I just ended up being disappointed based on how my nails turned out in comparison to my daughters. read more

I had gotten a "dip" at a different salon I didn't like the shape of my nails or the bulky look I went here they reshaped and changed my polish to shellac saying it would be better for my natural nail. Joe was meticulous in my shape and polish they had 3 people waiting and he could have rushed but didn't. FINALLY there is a great nail salon in the east end of the county!!! They provide a great color selection and a quality product. I have had 2 pedicures with 2 different people and I love how they take their time. My legs and feet feel so pampered when they are finished. When I get a gel manicure, they use the heated mitts with lotion - my favorite thing about a manicure. My shellac polish has lasted over 3 weeks. My experience with other salons is 2 weeks if you are lucky. I also like how many of the colors have matching shellac and regular versions. My fingers and toes can match without getting shellac polish on my toes. I have always just walked in and the service has been great. They do offer appointments. read more

Rachel is amazing!!! I just moved here from TN about a month ago and I've been searching high and low for a good nail salon/tech... I went to LaVee nails first and was denied service for arriving there 30 mins before they closed (most fill ins only take 30 mins)... I had to get them done today because I go out of town tomorrow. I stopped here not expecting service (because it was now 7:45pm), but a lady asked me to sign in, and to sit and wait.... I didn't get out of there until almost 9pm (an hr after they closed) AND she tried a new nail design on me for the first time! I was so amazed by the final product and even more amazed by the customer service! I'll definitely be making this my new nail salon from now on and I'll be referring everyone as well. Went here a few days ago, I got shellac on my nails and a regular pedicure. The shellac is pretty messy, and looks like I did it myself. The pedicure was okay, my toes look nice but she didnt do any scrubbing or anything to my heels to help with the rough patches. Just soaked my feet in hot water painted my toes and applied lotion to my feet and ankles. I got my eyebrows done which look nice, however there was a child sleeping in the same room I got my wax.... not even 2 feet away from the car I was sitting in. Awkkkward. read more

I have lived coast to coast and had pedicures and manicures coast to coast, this nail salon was by far one of the best I've ever been to! It was clean, the employees spoke English to each other, and I did not leave with a scratch or damaged cuticles. My nails weren't cut too short and the utensils were sterilized!!!!! I was amazed that the technicians tried to take the time to get to know me. I'm so glad that I found this nail Salon, sure helps ease the stress of moving to Kentucky a little. This was my first time here because where I usually go was packed and was talking about an hour wait so decided to try here since they had such high reviews. The high reviews must be from people that scheduled appointments and not walk ins like I was. When I arrived they were not crowded so took me right over to the pedicure chair. The lady started doing the pedicure but stopped right before it was time to put on the polish and said someone else would be over to finish up the pedicure which is fine because at this point it became crowded and people had appointments. I decided to set a timer to see how long it would take for someone to come over to do my polish-25 minutes which usually would be fine but I was on a somewhat time rush. Then when I moved to get my dip I must of had a new person because I have gotten dip a lot and she was doing it very different than what I'm used to (wrong) so someone else had to come over and fix it which is fine but the other lady never apologized or said why she was there or had to fix it but luckily I knew why. I wanted to complain when I was there but I was running late since what I thought would be 1.5 hours at a salon ended up being about 2.5 hours. Will not be back here. Giving it 2 stars though because my polish looks good now but the process to get this was not worth it. read more

I purchased a full set of dip nails in June 2018. Two days after my dip treatment my nails started chipping and my cuticles were sore and infected. After two weeks 40% of the dip polished nails were missing. At the 3 week mark all nails were off. At this point it's been about 7 weeks since the treatment. My nails are paper thin and brittle and I have resorted to taking vitamin supplements in order to strengthen my nails. Instead of buffing they used the drill and damaged my nails terribly. Initially I was not going to review- however due to the damage other nail salon patrons need to know to avoid this place. Undoubtedly the worst experience I've had at a nail salon. I'd been here once before, and gotten a somewhat decent pedicure. But recently I figured I should give it another shot. This time, the woman who did my pedicure used old nail polish, missed about half of each toenail, painted over my skin, and failed to apply a top coat. I hate complaining, since I work in customer service myself. But after I got home I decided I wasn't ok spending money on a service done so poorly. I called and made an appointment to come back in, and they had the same nail tech who did so poorly the first time come out to do the re-polish. The entire time she complained under her breath and told me it was my fault because my nails were too small, an issue I've never gotten anywhere else. After finishing them, I heard her yelling in the back about me. I found this shocking considering how gracious and kind I was about her re-doing them. The re-polish was hardly better then the initial job she'd done, and though I was tempted to ask for a refund, I opted not to, seeing as she seemed to be the kind of person to make a scene. No establishment should charge for a relaxing experience only to provide bad work and speak abusively to their customers. Needless to say, I won't be returning here. read more
