They were excellent at getting my friend and me in quickly for manicures. That's where the excellence ended. The girl that did my nails was okay at filing my short nails into shape after a brief soak in liquid. She quickly removed cuticle and put on a first base layer of the color I had chosen. She spent time staring at her phone between dry times. A second coat of polish was added then topcoat. A thumb nail got knicked and instead of redoing it she tried to smooth it out either more top coat. The nail always looked like it had a bubble on it. She then sent me on my way without so much as a second look. My friend had it worse. Her technician rolled out of the back room like she was pained to have to work. She cut my friends skin while removing the cuticle then wiped away the blood. No apology. My friend had to ask for topcoat which was applied sloppily. We payed and left. It wasn't cheap. While there several pre teen girls came in to get their nails done. Around 8 of them with one Mom. No other adults came in while we were there. I would never recommend this salon.There is a nail salon on every corner. I can't speak for others but First Lady in Middletown is a HARD pass. read more

I've been going to First Lady for a few years now & I am totally obsessed. Finding a good nail person/salon is equally as important as finding a good hairstylist/barber. I started going to Johnathan and he's always been so incredibly friendly and professional. He's allowed me to make appointments and always puts his clients needs first. Johnathan and all of First Lady are constantly friendly. They offer water, snacks, and now have a text service that you sign in soon as you come in. They are often busy and have higher wait times offer but it's totally worth it! $35 for dip nails that last at least 3 week. read more

The staff was extremely helpful and Mickey did a wonderful job with my new powder dip manicure. She was careful to note my thin nails and sensitive cuticles which are easy to nick. This made for a much more comfortable experience. Unlike previous powder manicures this one was the most natural and not bumpy or bulky. I've really struggled on leaving a review the last six months for this salon. For years, I have used First Lady as my go to for nails. It has increasingly declined since the owner has not been on site for awhile. The prices are steep and the services have declined. The most recent visit produced nails that chipped in less than a days time. This isn't acceptable for the $125 they charge for a mani/pedi gel nail. My nails in the past lasted over four weeks, but lately they do the very minimum resulting in poor quality. I have paid for a manicure, but received only the equivalent of sanding off my cuticles instead of clipping which is honestly painful. The latest issue was with my daughter's nails which turned into a train wreck and had to be redone. Most of us don't have the time to come back numerous times to fix mistakes. I expect fabulous nails for the price that I'm charged. I've tried to use this salon exclusively for many years., but I'm going to have to take my business elsewhere and encouraged my friends and family to do the same. I've been here the last few times I've gotten my nails done. My nail tech the first two times was Johnny and he rules. He's a jokester; funny, witty, and not to mention very meticulous when it comes to my nails. I tried dipped nails for the first time after straying from my normal shellac and I loved it. Definitely lasted the full three weeks and then some. My nails are also the strongest and longest they've been. The only downsides and reason why I'm still a fan of Bella Nails and Spa as my go-to is that they didn't do a manicure with it. As in it wasn't included with the dip. Womp. I'd had a manicure a couple weeks ago which included the shellac so my cuticles and the skin around my nails still looked good, but by the third time I'm in need of more nail love. They also shaped my nails in a coffin shape, which cost $5 extra. He did tell me prior to getting it done, but still... not sure why it's extra when it takes just about the same amount of time to shape them square. Oh well. Overall I'm satisfied! Just the dipped nails cost $30, which is what I paid for a manicure with shellac my normal salon. read more

I like to treat myself every once and a while this was the opposite of relaxing. The entire time I was there the woman who was doing my nails was complaining about how short my nails were and continuously talked about how expensive this salon is for manicures while she was doing my nails. Wth?! She spent about 10 minutes on my manicure in total and the manager shrugged like "sorry" when I told her the menu with the regular less expensive items wasn't ever presented to me. The color was nice and the only good thing. The lady did absolutely no nail prep, I was getting my nails done a natural shade for a funeral. I wanted my cuticles to look presentable and they were not touched at all before the dip powder was applied. They look really bad. The dip powder and top coat was applied over the cuticles and exaggerated how bad they look. I am really upset because I wanted presentable nails for the funeral. read more

Sadly updating to a lower rate. Paid for a 45min pedicure and was given an over priced, rushed 30 minute pedicure. I specifically asked for a pedicure that included a good massage and was told to pick the Voesh one so that is what I did. Rushed massage/no massage. My friends pedicure person never removed the scrub before adding the massage lotion making for an uncomfortable experience. I would understand if there was a line of people waiting but the only people wrong are the techs once they were finished and we sat to dry. Sadly I will not be returning. read more

Greeted right away with their digital sign in system. The speed impressed me as they assigned me to seat 12. He put my nails in acetone soaking...and soaking. Omg like 20 minutes later, i was sure my nails were thin as paper. They didn't seem nearly as concerned as I was of permanent damage. They did the standard nail dip and I was off. I think they need to treat customers with more respect and communication and avoid the chatting to each other in another language back and forth giggling. It always makes me uncomfortable. When I arrived it was packed, however I was greeted promptly and asked if I could come back in about 30 minutes. When I returned, I was taken back immediately. Worst Nail Salon in the city! Very poor customer service! I will not be back for obvious reasons. When I explained to the Nail Tech that my nails had become very thin due to having my nails done routinely for many years and I prefer that she use a nail file instead of using a nail drill she became extremely rude. She had the manager to tell me that they could not do my nails unless I allowed them to use the nail drill on them. I told him that many Nail Techs recently used a file (he was one of them) instead of a drill and I knew it could be done but I was not going to argue about it but instead took my business and my money elsewhere. I had to wait 20 mins before someone came to help me. I received a shellac mani and toe painting. They cut them the length requested, but some were round and some were square. When she finished my shellac, I had polish on the sides of my fingers and they were very uneven. I asked her to clean them up and she attempted, guy the still look messy. My toes are messy and polish is on my skin. I requested a discount, but only reveived $7 off. I normally love this place and have always thought they give the best pedicure in town, but my experience today was horrible. The guy who did my toes was in a rush, talking to other people, and not paying any attention to what he was doing. I paid for the upgrades pedicure and while I got all of the scrubs and creams he did not massage my feet and calves and only did up to my ankles. He didn't even file my nails so all of the corners are super sharp. Now the guy doing the person down the row looked like he was doing it right, but this place is very hot or miss. read more

Very disappointed. I went in asking just for gel on my fingers and a pedicure. Waited for 20 minutes and no one offered to give me colors to choose from.The lady who did my pedicure rushed and finished my pedicure in 10 minutes which is ridiculous. When she did my nails I made it very clear I just wanted gel. She preceded to not print off my receipt copy and when I asked for it she told me just to take a picture of it. I noticed she charged me an extra $10 which I questioned. She said she charged me for a manicure which I never asked for. Apparently "just gel" means gel and manicure. Cutting down my nails and picking at my cuticles was considered a manicure. But again, never asked for a manicure.
