What a great, great time! My college girlfriends and I do a girls weekend once a year at our friends house in Fells Point, in B-more. We have been talking about doing this adult "BYOG" (Bring your own grog) pirate ship for a while, so we decided that this was the weekend! Buying our tickets online was easy. I felt it was a bit pricey for a one hour trip ($25 plus $4.50 service fee). But I'll get into whether or not it was worth it later. Upon arriving, we were decked out in pirate gear- striped clothing, hoop earrings, and head scarfs. We were ready to pillage and plunder our way through the Baltimore Harbor! Check in was a breeze. Once on the boat, we cracked open our beers, got tattoos from a pirate on board and got our pirate nickname from another pirate onboard. Once we set sail, they played some dance music and we played some games (hot potato, limbo), for which the prize was a shot of Cap'n Morgan. There were also these water cannons that shot out water that you can play with. As well, as waving to all the "landlubbers" ashore. Overall, it was a fun trip but I definitely think you need to be with the right group of friends. If I had a kid, I'd definitely take them on the family friendly version during the day. Value wise, I thought the price was about right. Definitely not something I'd do every weekend, but it was a fun time. read more

My husband and I took one of the Pirates' booze cruises. On Hallowe'en as a matter of fact. If we're being honest, it was a Yelp event that got us on that boat. We've always been of the opinion that the Urban Pirates fall firmly into that category of Things That Tourists Do, and like most things in that category, locals tend to avoid them like the plague. We were wrong. Oh, there was eye-rolling aplenty when we first got on the boat, donned our pirate clothes, got our pirate name, and had our first drink. I mean, this cruise is HOKEY. Silly even. Then we had our second drink. And gosh, the harbor at night is really quite pretty, isn't it? Really beautiful, even. It's not a bad way to spend an evening, actually...putt-putting around the harbor on a fakey pirate ship on a beautiful night, looking at the lights of the city. Perhaps another drink, too. Oh, now it's time for silly pirate singing and dancing. Well, why the heck not! I can do some dancing if I feel like it, and it's such a nice evening. Oh, a pirate game now? A pirate game FOR SHOTS OF RUM?!!!! WELL WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY SO?!!! Absolutely!!! I'll play yer pirate game because I'm a pirate! Avast ye landlubbers! Yo ho ho! And ARRRGH! Ye mateys! Yer after me pirate booty I see! More shots of rum?! WELL WHY NOT! I'M A SWASHHHHHBUCKKKLING PIRATE AND PIRATES DRINK THE RUM! WOO HOO! I'M HAVING A GREAT TIME! THIS CRUISE IS SO MUCH FUN!!!!! Needless to say, this hella-fun cruise was followed by a stumble to a taxi, a world-spinning ride home, falling into bed half-undressed, and a great deal of Alka-Seltzer at three in the morning. I dare you to climb aboard the Urban Pirate ship and not exclaim, "Arrrgh!" Try as I might to be the cool adult and sit back and let the kids do their thing, I soon found myself joining in the fun. Who can resist getting to play with a water cannon, after all? We went during the Fell's Point Privateer festival which added to the merriment. My friends and our kids had a great time and even got to throw on some gear. Everyone was given a pirate name, kids and parents alike. There was singing, dancing, treasure and a lot of tomfoolery. It is a brief cruise around the harbor but way more fun than any old water taxi. read more

Urban Prates is AWESOME. I've been once before, and the second time wasn't any less fun. They're great at what they do and they obviously love playing their roles. The games and music are pretty standard, but they make it fun and a little crass, which is necessary when being a pirate. The ride is about 45 minutes long, and they keep you entertained throughout. Be careful though. They don't offer rain checks and they'll head out, rain or shine or apocalypse (so I've heard/read). Once you set a date and time, be there or lose out. With that said, it's totally worth it. So much fun! read more

We boarded the "Fearless" on July 25th, for the 5:30 cruise. We had 10 people in our party, and there were loads of people on the boat. Red Finch, Scarnose, Rusty, and the Captain made our cruise super fun. Dancing, limbo, conga-line, Rusty's Coconuts, talking like a pirate, all super fun. This is one of those things where you have to go with it. Yes its cheesy. Shut up and let yourself have FUN. The staff is engaging and fun, and my only complaint is that I would have stayed on the boat for another 2 hours dancing and having fun. read more

Totally recommend this cruise for the "Adult" BYOG (Bring your own Grog) variation. It's very fairly priced ($25), you bring your own booze, they don't price gouge you for silly trinkets like eye patches and such (it kind of sucks when duck tours charge you ~$10 for some plastic duck lips), and they have an awesome crew that gets you nice and silly - fake tattoos, pirate names, pirate sashes and vests, pirate games!, dancing, rum shots!! Also, there is a little wine shop across from where the boat is docked where you can buy your "Grog" / buy more grog :) read more

Cheesy in the best way possible. This made for a great afternoon with the kids. The staff do a great job of getting everyone involved. Such a fun experience that I would recommend everyone try at least once! I've had a few friends that have gone before that had suggested giving it a try, and I was always envious of the people I saw ride past on these ships while I was out in the harbor. A friend booked out the entire boat for a birthday party, which finally gave me the opportunity to try this out. Unfortunately it was rainy and gross out on the day of the event, however that didn't stop it from being a great time! The crew was very fun, and cheesy, but I would not expect it any other way. I was worried that I would get seasick but I had no such problem. The ride was very smooth, and long enough to get a good buzz on. An overall great experience! read more

Came here on a field trip with the kiddos that I work with and I must say...I might have had more fun than the kids! I also had low expectations for this cruise but it was worth it and alot of fun. I don't want to ruin the fun for everyone but if you have kids you should definitely take them on this 90 minute ride. They even have BYOB cruises, not sure what days those are but I will definitely be checking that out. The best part and what makes the cruise is the pirate crew who are exciting and fun and all around awesome. I highly recommend this place for your next corporate event! Very easy to schedule and plan a large event with them. It cost about $1200 for about an hour and a half to make a round trip in the Inner Harbor. Sea sickness is not a problem since you are in the Harbor. However, you are subjected to the weather...I'd really keep an eye on it and take it into account when you plan an event. They only provide the ship, we had to provide our own beverages and food. You can go to Costco and pick up food, or you have a caterer deliver food to the ship. Overall, everyone had a blast. This is the 2nd year we have booked a cruise with them and we look forward to it every year. Keep in mind that all guests have to be 21 or over. Umm so much fun. I went on the BYOB night time trip with a group of 10 or so people who don't go on boozy adventures much. Our boat was filled with a mix of frat boys who cheered, hooted and hollered every chance they got and a 21st birthday party comprised of girls with precariously high heels and the straightest hair I've ever seen. Under normal circumstances being trapped in a small space with these people would sound like hell on earth but somehow it worked and I loved it. The boat staff knows how to handle drunk twenty-somethings (probably similarly to the toddlers they have on the boat during the day) and they know how to keep people happy on the water for a solid hour. The people sitting at the wine bar on shore may look at you like you're silly and ridiculous (which you kind of are on once you board the "Fearless") but you don't even notice once you settle in with your drinks perched on an upturned barrel. This was my first time with Urban Pirates, and they gave us a great show. We boarded at around ten on Halloween night for a tour of the harbor on the boat. The crew were friendly and welcomed us on board like old friends. It was a chilly night, but they kept us moving with games, drinks, and lots and lots of laughter. This is not a cruise, it's not a bar - it an EXPERIENCE. An experience not for the stuffy, for sure. It's unique and fun, and going to my 'to take all my out of town friends' list. Watch the return policy! The refused to let me rebook my family of 4 (2 4. Year olds) and we lost 4 tickets because the "Captain" decided it wasn't "unsafe" to take us out for 2 hours in 35 mph winds, 2" of driving rain, a small craft advisory, and 58* weather(it's been a nasty early summer). This was the last weekend in May- nothing says fun 4 year old birthday like hypothermia and terror! All business. LOVE this experience (and yes, it's an experience). I'd heard some quite interesting/frightening stories from friends who were former pirates on the Fearless, but I've been as a guest on the ship twice now and will happily go again! Both times were BYOG (bring your own grog) cruises- one for a work outing, one for fun with friends. First off, they have the schedule down pat. Show your ID and get your wristband inside, board the ship for some pre-sailing shenanigans (participate fully for the best experience!). Once the ship sets sail- get ready to shake your tail feather and imbibe with the best pirates on the Inner Harbor! I don't want to give it all away, so I'll just part ways with you letting you know I'll be sailing with them again next year, I'm sure! read more

While visiting a friend in Baltimore, we decided to give the adult's pirate cruise a try and we had a blast! So much fun. There was dancing, games, rum shots, beautiful sights of the harbor, and general silliness (like the water guns). Just an overall good time, for a good price. read more

(09/08/2012) We did the BYOG hour cruise at sunset to celebrate a birthday. It was great goofiness and fun (even in the rain), just let go and enjoy. While we were all about the grog and the roleplay, I will say I believe the target audience to be about 10 years younger than us, we were definitely the oldest party in the bunch. It's like the Baja Beach Club meets Pirates of the Carribean. We did all have a fun time and at night from the water, Baltimore actually looks like a beautiful city. Be very cautious before giving money to Urban Pirates in Fells Point. Last week I booked 9 tickets as a going away party for a co-worker for the cruise tomorrow at 7pm. They called me today to let me know that since the cruise didn't sell at least 15 tickets, that they are cancelling it, as it is their policy to not sail with less than 15. This is a real barnacle in your boot straps, as most people use this service for special occasions, so a last minute cancellation leaves you ship wrecked, but I'm guessing it cost more to operate the ship than what they would be making in tickets, so as a business, I get it. Still sucks for the customer. At a minimum I was expecting a sincere apology for the inconvenience and a full refund ($249.50) for the boat ride you're refusing to give us around the Harbor, to sing us pirate songs and get us good and buzzed off of rum. Instead I found them (Kyle) to be rude, short, and only willing only offer a "raincheck" (ironic, because they sail rain or shine). But it's a going away party... for 9 people... going away. It's like herding cats, err parrots. There is no other day that works, but they refused to refund us the money. Urban Pirates - I've done your cruise before and think it's a unique cool thing for the city, and I don't want it to be tarnished with this memory, or for you to turn away other customers with unfair practices. Also change your policy, if YOU cancel the trip, people deserve a refund. P.S. If this is all an elaborate role play of stealing my treasure, and you plan to kidnap us tomorrow and take us on an epic quest to retrieve it, then I'm into it, and I take it all back. If not, REFUND ME MY MONEY FOR THE SERVICES YOU DIDN'T PROVIDE. read more

This really deserves 5 stars it is so much fun. The actors who are on the sip are insane in a good way. The BYOB cruise is extremely fun and the event itself is very social. I went with one of my friends and there were bachelorette parties mixed with a group just wanting to have fun. You meet a lot of people in a short amount of time. You get to dress up but if you're a pro like me you already have eyepatches, a sword, parrot. They have a little stand where you can buy those on the side. BYOB cruise is really for anyone. I don't drink so I didn't participate in many of the games for grog but I did participate in many other pirate activities. read more

Super fun, affordable, the staff did a great job of creating fun activities and keeping a rowdy crowd happy even in the rain. The boarding location is deep into Fells not Harbor East make sure you Waze or Google Map it. Also, your departure time may say 7:00pm but you ain't leaving till 7:30... time on ship is still an hour but expect this delay. Beware of the cancellation and weather policies, we did set sail in some light rain and wind... had it not been a friend's birthday I probably would have forfeited the cost as it was very cold and rainy for the first of October and a huge pain to get into the city on a Saturday with all the festival road closures. I'd probably take my chances in the future with tickets at the door versus being obligated to attend in inclement weather. read more

As with many things, I came to Urban Pirates via Living Social/Groupon. I have to say they were very accommodating with scheduling, as we had to reschedule several times due to multiple conflicts with our group, but finally we made it! We did the adults "Bring Your Own Grog" cruise, so no kiddies on this one (which is a BIG plus in my book). Armed with our shot glass necklaces, bandanas, eye patches, and water guns we boarded the ship, and were promptly outfitted in appropriate pirate vests and wraps. My friend and I proceeded to fill our guns with beer (good use for cheap beer you're trying to get rid of!), and gave a hearty "arrgghh!" as we departed to the sounds of AC/DC's "Back in Black". The crew were fabulous (especially Carl....mmmmmm), and were quick to get everyone involved in some games and general foolery. And with free shots of Captain Morgan to go around, there's no way this could go badly, right? It did rain a little, but we were having so much fun nobody cared. The only negative I can say is that they were about 30 minutes late departing, but once we took off life was good. read more

Such a fun outing! I flew down to Baltimore for a friend's birthday last weekend and we went out on one of their 'bring your own grog' booze cruises. The crew was hilarious and fun, and it was a really affordable trip for 2 hours on the water. I wish it'd been longer but hey, still a blast. Everyone gets a pirate name, a pirate vest to wear while on the water, and temporary tatoos. The women that did the story telling and activities on the boat were great, out kids (5 and 7) had a great time, however, we had been told how great it was to shoot the "bad guy" in a small boat as he zipped around the pirate ship and when we got to that part of the trip the outboard motor broke and they skipped it without saying anything or offering to at least let the kids shot the cannon again. It was really disappointing, and once back at the dock the small boat was fixed while we stood there talking about lunch, which seemed like it was an operator issue. read more

My wife and I booked an adults only BYOB cruise on 8/30/2013 for four. We were in town for the Grand Prix of Baltimore and decided to have a little fun one of the nights. Booking was extremely easy through their website. We ended up booking all four of us. The price seemed fair for what we thought we were going to get. Check in was quick and easy. The previous cruise docked and a few minutes laster we boarded. This is a non-smoking event. My wife and I are both smokers and did not mind at all. After boarding, we got out pirate garb and pirate names. The names were a hoot and adult themed. The cruise was about an hour and had fun games and good music. We did not know what to expect when we booked, but we sure are glad that we did. This was a REALLY fun way to spend an hour and a half on a Friday evening. The crew was great and made it a ton of fun. We would absolutely book this again and recommend that anyone in the area looking for a good break from the normal bar hop scene. What a blast! I took my 3, 7 and 9 year old grandsons along, with their parents and their great grandmother. We all had a wonderful time. We had a wonderful time pirating the seven seas of Bawlmore. Our crew: Poopdeck, X, Snotty and the Captain, and the skillful Mad Mike, were a lot of fun and had us grinning ear to ear with their antics from boarding to disembarkment. I'm only giving this four stars because I thought while the kids were entertained by the crew I would enjoy gazing at the Harbor, but the activities on the boat came one after another and the crew wasn't having any of that chilling mode I had in mind lol. Disappointed. Buyer beware. I was aware of the 72 hr cancellation/rescheduling policy at my time of advanced purchase. This company STRICKLY ADHERES to that policy. We called 2 hrs in advance on the road to ask if there was anyway we could get our reservations changed to any later time alot (we had 11am tix and were driving and due to weather would miss the 10min advance checkin by 5 mins according to our gps)...the reply was no changes after 72 hr. I thought maybe they would grant our request because they had many openings visable on thier online tix purchase. Nope. Just so you know...there are no exceptions. read more

Urban Pirates is like that cheesy boyfriend who throws rose petals all over the damn place and has chocolate covered strawberries and champagne chilling for you. Yeah I am going to roll my eyes and scoff for the first 5 minutes but if you try to take my chocolate away I'll bite you, because deep down I love it! My local friends and I found Urban Pirates 5 years ago when we decided to do all the touristy things Baltimore had to offer. Since then the Adult BYOG cruise has become an annual thing. For $25 bucks you can bring a cooler of whatever you wish to drink (beer, wine, rum, grain alcohol Adult pirates can't judge you do you!) for an hour boat ride. On the boat there is pirate games and jargon, but just keep drinking we'll get through this together. They play dance music and the crew is absolutely amazing! Finch the buccaneer who looks like a hotter Nicky from Orange is the new Black is sarcastically hilarious. Scar nose and Jellyfish will flex their abs on command and take one for the team and dance with any drunk girl thrown at them. The crew does 4 booze cruises a night they have to get tired of the spiels but they never let you down. Seriously tip them well and make Urban Pirates a part of your summer bucket list! read more

I went to this for a corporate event and I cannot express how much fun it was. A lot of times being stuck with work people for "fun" is anything but, but this was hysterical. The staff is super engaging and entertaining and easily kept us in stitches the entire time. I'm looking forward to going back for an evening "grog" cruise. read more

I bought 5 tickets for myself and some out-of-town friends for a BYOG cruise. As we were waiting to board the boat, the crew announced there was engine trouble and the cruise was cancelled. These things happen--I understand. However, I was extremely disappointed when I was issued rain checks, instead of a refund. I am not going to be able to use the rain checks, meaning that I will have wasted $140. I see that previous Yelpers have had similar experiences. I guess this is not entirely surprising, considering I was conducting business with pirates, but still, the option to receive a refund seems fair, especially considering Urban Pirates was 100% responsible for the cruise being cancelled. read more

My husband and I took our 5 and 2 year old children on the family cruise in mid-April. It's a little chilly in April, so I was glad we had brought our coats, especially when they turned on the water cannons in the wind - we all got rather wet, but the kids LOVED firing them at the pirate in the speed boat. The actors did a great job of engaging the kids and entertaining them, and both kids asked to go back again. The 5 year old loved it, while the 2 year old was a bit intimidated by the actors. No one paid attention to the sites - it was more about dressing up (which they provide), singing, dancing, yelling "arr" and playing games. A good time with the kid-os. The actors on this ship were simply awesome! X, Judy, and Danny were awesome and super engaging!! We went on the family cruise and our 17, 7, 5, 45, and even 65 year old all had a complete blast. 11/10 would recommend! I even plan on coming back for the 21+ cruise with friends. read more

My boyfriend and I took his 7 year old nephew - he had the time of his life. We enjoyed the beautiful view and cruise while he got dressed up, fake tattooed, danced around, sang songs, played games, sprayed the "evil pirate" with the spray guns, and got prizes from the treasure chest. We couldn't help but laugh and be happy about how much fun he was having and we really enjoyed the cruise ourselves. The crew was so nice and made sure to get all the kids involved so the adults could relax. Definitely recommend it! He still talks about it! read more
