The facility itself is clean and well-maintained, but unfortunately my experience with the level of care was extremely disappointing. I spent thousands of dollars on the tests and diagnostics they recommended, only to be told what I already knew about my cat's condition, with little guidance on a treatment plan or meaningful follow-up. After we were sent home with the wrong medication dosages that ultimately needed to be adjusted, my cat's condition worsened. I contacted the clinic multiple times by phone, text, and email with updates and urgent questions regarding his declining condition. Despite being told to reach out if we had any concerns or needed prescription adjustments, I never received a response. When your pet is critically ill, being ignored after spending so much money on tests for proper care in return is unacceptable. Because I couldn't get any communication from this clinic, I had no choice but to seek care elsewhere. The new veterinarian responded immediately, reviewed my cat's case, adjusted his medications, prescribed the treatments he urgently needed, and provided the follow-up and support that should have been available from the beginning for a fraction of the price. My cat improved after those changes. I expected not only medical expertise but also communication and compassion, especially after investing so much in my pet's care. Instead, I was left feeling abandoned during one of the most stressful times of our life. While the facility is nice, my experience was that the care ended once the bill was paid. My introduction to Urban Vet was under heartbreaking circumstances. I came home one morning to find my beloved dachshund unable to move and clearly in distress. He was quite old, and I knew in my heart this was likely something he wouldn't survive. I immediately called his regular vet (I'm looking at you CDM Animal Hospital), only to be told, without much compassion, that they were too busy to see him and I should take him to an emergency animal hospital. While those hospitals serve an important purpose, I couldn't bring myself to take him somewhere so cold and overwhelming during such a painful moment. That's when I remembered Urban Vet. I had seen them before when they were located in a nearby shopping center. I called, explained the situation, and they were incredibly kind and told me to bring him in right away. From the moment I arrived, the team was exceptional. They took him back immediately, put him on oxygen, and did everything they could to keep him comfortable. Sadly, it turned out he had a tumor near his heart that had ruptured, and there were very limited options. I made the incredibly difficult decision to end his suffering. The vets were so compassionate and gentle, and they allowed me to hold him in my arms as he crossed the rainbow bridge. I will always be grateful for the dignity and kindness they showed us in that moment. Since then, I've brought both my cat and the dog I recently adopted to Urban Vet, and every experience has reinforced how special this practice is. Every staff member is wonderful and clearly a true animal lover. My pets don't mind going there at all; the office is calm, beautiful, and sun-filled. We have been patients of UrbanVet-Newport Beach for some time now. They have treated our dog babies through regular appointments, elder health care management and some injuries. They have restored our Kanga's health from pain and decline to a more healthy and youthful dog living a joyful life. Always, the staff is amazing. Calls are promptly returned and we are given the royal treatment as we see other pets and pet owners receive as well. I appreciate that my dogs have seen all the doctors in the practice and they make sure they know the pet's condition when they are seeing the pet. Last week, my daughter brought in her 5 year old Rottweiller Roo who was exhibiting shoulder pain at home. When she got to UrbanVet-Newport Beach Roo was so excited to see her friends(the staff) that her limping vanished. Thankfully, they took my daughter's word for it they had her xrayed. The doctors at UrbanVets had a follow up CT scan that showed what they feared. Osteosarcoma in her shoulder. A devastating and deadly diagnosis to be sure. Due to UrbanVet-Newport Beach's due diligence, the osteosarcoma was diagnosed early. They screened for potential metastasis as well. This is huge given how lethal of a diagnosis this is for dogs. We scheduled an amputation for five days later as this is the primary course of treatment for this diagnosis. Fortunately, UrbanVet's created availability to reschedule her surgery to the Monday after the diagnosis. They devised a treatment/lifestyle plan to help our Roo live a healthy, happier life with state of the art treatments as well as a holistic approach. During her pre-surgery, surgery and post surgery UrbanVet was updating us along the way. Post op the next day they were checking in on her. Two days post surgery she is exceeding our post op expectations. She is not in obvious or excessive pain. She has begun to move about and yesterday got up with minor help. Of course Roo is taking baby steps, but considering what it could be... The office staff, techs and doctors are remarkable, from minor irritations to life-threatening conditions they are the veterinary practice for us. read more

I have been searching far and wide for a vet to replace Dr. Kraemer (now retired), who became my friend over our 15+ years together. If not for him, I wouldn't have been able to take on the medically challenged fosters and adoptees I have enjoyed giving a second chance at life. Urbanvet seems promising since I just took my rescued ex-breeder English Bulldog in after she injured her front leg jumping off a chair. Like most EBs, she's a stubborn Diva who thinks she can do anything, an attitude occasionally slapped down by physics. In spite of her antics, she's still a best pupper. We spent the day using the Kraemer approach, first addressing the most obvious problem (a torn ligament via X-ray), then wait and see, and finally boring down further with a more expensive CT scan after discovering the current splint wasn't relieving the pain when she tried to place pressure on that leg in a certain way. From the CT, Dr. Raj found she had indeed fractured a bone in her elbow. So back we go for an extended splint. The front desk was amazing: happy, kind, and funny. The front desk Road Dogs rescue Frenchie, Opal, was more than happy to get some extended skritches over the hours. The entire place was spotless. Great complimentary snacks and drinks. Dr. Raj was working hard to keep me informed as to what he observed and helping to decide the best course of action throughout the process. They even insisted on carrying my 60lbs lump of delicate fur out to the car for me. As of now, looking like my new vet. read more
