I had been taking my 15 year old Chihuahua mix, Lilly, to Irvine Valley Vet for a few years. She had heart disease, and after several fluid drains, I knew it was time to let her go peacefully. Sadly, my experience on October 22, 2025 with Dr. Aida Kasaei was devastating. The technician was kind and explained the process well, but once the sedation was given, Lilly began breathing rapidly and became unresponsive. The technician took her to place the IV for just a minute, but when they brought her back, she was already gone. Despite that, Dr. Kasaei quickly injected multiple vials into her IV for the anesthesia and euthanasia, insisting she was still breathing even though it was clear she had already passed. Everything felt rushed and cold during what should have been a calm and loving goodbye. It felt as if she wanted to be sure to use the vials since I had already paid, instead of allowing me a peaceful moment with my dog. I didnt even get to be there with her when she took her last breath. That will forever break my heart. I have spent thousands of dollars here over the years, and this visit alone was $447.37 for euthanasia and cremation. Their prices have always been extremely high. On top of that, there had been multiple inconsistencies in Lilly's medication dosages over several months, which was very concerning. While some staff members are wonderful and caring, I cannot recommend this hospital for end of life care. My trust was broken, and the experience was deeply traumatizing. I will never bring a pet here again.

I strongly recommend not to send your pets to this place, their unprofessional decision will kill those adorable furry babies!!! The beginning of this year, there was a female doctor ignored that my dog had obviously heart issues and insisted on cleaning her teeth and pulled out four teeth without asking us for permission!!!! We picked up her same day, she was in a bad condition, they told us that caused by the anesthesia effect. Two days later we sent her to an emergency care, the doctor ask permission for mercy killing, we refused and brought her home. She survived that day and recovered after we gave her some liquid IV. But she still couldn't make it until yesterday, she died in the kitchen when we got out for groceries, obviously she died due to a heart attack, recently she started coughing very bad day and night. What the hospital made us mad is that they knew my dog had heart illness and coughed bad that day, they still insisted on teeth cleaning procedures and they pulled her teeth out without telling us, the manager explained they had right to pull out teeth without telling the owners, new regulations.... my baby girl is dead now, we really hate those unprofessional people in this place!! If you want your pets die just go there!!!

    Suprise!

They are incredible people. Hopefully you won't need their services, but if you end up having an emergency with a pet family member, they will be the most gentle and thoughtful people to treat your pet. My wife's cat had a heart condition that most cats get when they get to a certain age, and they will so comprehensive and kind in explaining everything. I have had vet hospitals pressure me to make decisions or speak to me like the animal I've spent a majority of my life with is an object or a possession. But this place will be genuine and humane. I recommend 100%. Rest in peace Simba

    Acupuncture for pain relief

For some insight to this review Maverick had ruptured 3 disks in his back in March of 2022 in which he was unable to use his back legs and had to undergo surgery. After a few months of rest, recovery, and assistance on my end he was able to regain use of his back legs with some limitations and seemingly no pain. During that time period the neurologist that performed the surgery did not recommend any physical therapy although a shake in his back right leg and apparent resting of weight primarily on his front legs. Fast forward about 1.5 years and Maverick was in very apparent pain and barely able to move one of his back legs again - leveraging only his upper body for movement. This is when we started seeing Dr. Nauss. My experience with Dr. Nauss has been absolutely amazing. He is extremely thorough in his assessments, treatments, and next step plans. Even after Maverick's first treatment, you could see a night and day difference in his pain level and ability to move around. After multiple treatments you could physically feel the difference and relief in tightness around his back and neck (knots removed and body less tense). In addition, you could see the positive change in his personality. Back to being "crazy" and trying to sprint everywhere, play with toys, jump up and down on people, couches, etc. (although we are trying to limit it as much as possible). I can't thank Dr. Nauss and his team enough for the help. Maverick went from a ton of pain, barely walking, and our family stressing about another surgery or potential wheelchair scenario to being back to his old self.

I am so grateful to have this 24hrs vet hospital in my neighborhood. At this point all my 3 pets have been there for urgent care, and each time I was very satisfied with their efficiency, and compassionate interactions. They give you options to wait at home, in your car...etc and give you prompt updates on the situation. I recommend this place!

She was given a 10-15 minute hydration infusion as well as injections for nausea and reflux (because of all the vomiting). I also authorized a blood panel. She still didn't eat that day, but the next day woke up with a roaring (yapping?) appetite and all her spunk back. Dr. Wang called me to see how she was doing and to send me the results of the blood panel which he explained was good. He suspects it was pancreatitis and because this is the first time she experienced it at her age, he thinks it will not be chronic. Everyone here has given me and my dog Kira nothing but love, care, consideration and understanding. I rescued my dog Kira from an unfortunate situation when see was what we thought was 4months. Upon our first visit, Dr Kwon right away let me know that she was closer to 6months. Because this is a private practice and essentially a family run vet, Dr Kwon was able to Kira and I out with what was within my budget. He genuinely cares and wants to not only help, but provide the best course of action/treatment that makes sense for your animal. Over the next year, not only was the puppy package that is available at this animal hospital essentially almost all inclusive (I was lucky because Kira was healthy and we didn't need anything outside of the long list of things that were included in that package) but even then, if things came up that wasn't a part of the initial package, the staff and Dr Kwon gave full explanations and worked within my budget constraints. It got to the point that my dog Kira no longer feared, but rather looked forward to seeing everyone at Irvine Great Park Animal Hospital. Lastly, Kira and I needed to relocate out of state back to Hawaii. If you know anything about that process ...it's a lot and it gets very expensive. Dr Kwon and his staff assisted in all the necessary steps needed to make the transition easy and saved me at least $500-$700 on just the necessary blood work (FAVN test) to bring a dog to the state of Hawaii. I highly recommend this place, I need to be up to OC for work every month even after this move and I intend on popping in to visit Dr and Staff only because of the the relationships that we have built over the last yr. Her incision and stitches did not look right, and she developed open wounds, signs of infection, and significant discomfort. I contacted the office multiple times, sent photos, and brought her in for a follow-up, yet I was repeatedly told that everything looked normal and that she was fine. After continuing to raise concerns, I was finally told to take her to Irvine Valley Veterinary Hospital. I spent the night there and was charged nearly an additional $1,000 to have her incision re-stitched. It was incredibly frustrating to have repeatedly voiced concerns, only to end up paying significantly more to address a problem I had been told multiple times was "fine." I expressed how unhappy I was with the situation and was told the medical director would contact me. I never received a call. More recently, I noticed a pattern on the whites of my cat's eyes and sent a photo to the office. I was told by the vet that it was not normal and that I should either bring her in or see a veterinary ophthalmologist. I followed their recommendation and went to the ophthalmologist they referred me to, only to be told after a 20 second exam that what I was seeing was completely normal. I still had to pay the office visit and exam fees. Between the complications from her spay, my concerns being repeatedly dismissed, the lack of follow-up from the medical director, and being unnecessarily worried and referred to a specialist for something that turned out to be normal, I've lost confidence in the care provided here. My experiences with Dr. Ramos and other veterinarians at both the primary care office and hospital have left me feeling that my concerns were not taken seriously and that the level of care, communication, and professionalism was not what I would expect from a veterinary practice. Unfortunately, I will not be returning.

Both recommended surgery under anesthesia. The problem is that Dobby has a heart condition and von Willebrand disease, so his specialists do not recommend anesthesia unless it is absolutely necessary because of the risks involved. At the other hospitals, I felt completely hopeless. I was essentially being told that if he had surgery there were significant risks because of his medical conditions, but if he didn't have surgery there were also risks if the abscess worsened or ruptured. Basically they said that this will not resolve on its own without surgical intervention and being put under anesthesia. As his mom, I felt like there was no good option and I was terrified of making the wrong decision. When I brought Dobby to Bliss Animal Hospital, everything changed. Dr. Nay took the time to carefully evaluate him instead of immediately recommending surgery. She was able to express more of the abscess, gave him a long-acting antibiotic injection, and even contacted Dobby's cardiologist to make sure the pain medication she wanted to prescribe would be safe for his heart. That level of thoroughness and teamwork meant everything to me. Because Dobby was having leakage from the abscess, he developed a severe skin burn around his rear end that looked incredibly painful. Dr. Nay recommended medical-grade Manuka honey, and it honestly worked like magic. The area healed so quickly, and it brought him so much relief. The results were incredible. The swelling continued to go down, the abscess completely resolved, and Dobby healed without needing surgery. I am beyond grateful that Dr. Nay looked at Dobby as an individual instead of taking a one-size-fits-all approach. I also want to give a special thank you to Wilma. She was so kind and compassionate with Dobby and treated him with so much love. When I needed medication for him right away, she went out of her way to help me get it as quickly as possible. That level of kindness is something I'll never forget. I'm a total mama bear when it comes to my boys, and I know I ask a million questions because I want the very best for them. LARGE DOG OWNERS BEWARE!…read more We took our senior dog (rescued one week before) to Northwood Animal hospital because of great Yelp reviews. On closer inspection, you can see that they're great with small animals (hamsters, rabbits, cats, etc.) but larger dogs may be a weak spot, and here's why. The examination room was probably 6'x6', and over half of it was covered by an examination table that couldn't be pulled up because of a small animal scale on it. The net result of this was that our 60-pound dog could only see the feet of people in the room. We notified staff that our sweet girl was a little nervous with new people, and it seems that the vet tech got the memo. The tech was the best part of our experience--even though our dog was nervous, the tech did an amazing job introducing herself to us and our dog, giving her space, etc. It all broke down once the vet came in. Dr. J (Meena Janbahan) came in, did not introduce herself to us, and immediately took our dog by the neck to test her sinuses. While we understood that there was a legitimate medical reason for doing that, her failure to introduce herself to our dog (didn't even offer a hand to sniff), made our dog extremely anxious. Our dog gave about 3-5 seconds of whining before delivering 2-3 warning barks and backing up to us. The vet tech took our dog outside for a brief walk--when they came back, our dog was anxious but okay with the tech--but she did not like the vet. We were in shock that a professional would do this to a dog that had just been rescued and lived on the street before coming to us--but the more we thought about it, we figured that it was absurd to introduce herself to any dog that way. Dr. J followed up this moment by being extremely aloof and dismissive. Our dog had shown no signs of protectiveness at this level before, and Dr. J insisted that there was an inherent problem with our dog based on this meeting (where Dr. J, again, greeted our dog by wrapping her hands around her throat). We began to doubt ourselves and our dog, and would've continued to unless we had gone to another vet (more experienced with dogs) elsewhere, Dr. K (Kirollos Abdelmalek), who introduced himself much more calmly to our dog and assured us that our dog was not behaviorally volatile (see my review of Quail Animal Hospital for more on this experience). The icing on the cake was the $1,000 estimate for our visit. They waived the examination fee because our dog was a rescue, leading to a grand total of $977.80. The itemized receipt is attached to this review, but they don't tell the full story. We were strong-armed into the influenza vaccine (they said they wouldn't give anesthesia without it... which is not standard practice from AVMA guidelines by our understanding), and told that our dog had an ear infection despite the vet saying she was unable to "get a look at her ears." The cytology for the ear infection and treatment being given at the same time also made us raise an eyebrow. Fortunately, we opted to decline all services and see another vet for our dog instead (again, see my review of Quail Animal Hospital for the much better experience). Overall, I would have given Northwood Animal Hospital one star, if it hadn't been for the vet tech who assured us that we were not crazy, despite clear efforts of the business to charge us a ridiculous amount and misrepresent our dog's behavior. It is odd that they would market services for large dogs given that their practice seems--from personnel to facilities--ill-prepared to care for them.

You know the feeling where you're in panic mode and trying to get answers but come up empty so…read moreyou're sitting there frantically googling and calling a bunch of places only get more disappointed and stressed ? Yup that was my day after spending 4 hours at the vet only to come up empty. My little senior yorki, Basil, was recently diagnosed with degenerative disc disease. She's been unable to walk with her hind legs for a few days. Our vet pretty much told us to go seek a treatment plan from an orthopedic surgeon and didn't give us anymore info on what else we can do to help make her more comfortable in the meantime. I spent my entire morning making phone calls to different clinics asking if they offer orthopedic care at the facility and got turned away by ALL of them. That was until I called northwood animal hospital. Let me clarify. They do NOT have an ortho specialist here at this facility, I did not end up taking my pet here so this review isn't about how well the vet took care of my baby. However, Maria, the person that picked up my phone call was the most helpful person I've dealt with the entire day. Not only did she take her time going over her roster of places that do offer ortho care in the area, she also took her time explaining the varies treatments they specialize in and how it might help Basil's case. She asked about Basils condition and referred me to 3 different clinics. With the care and patience put into a simple phone call when Basil is not even a patient there, I'm certain that there's no difference once you're there in the office with the vet. Def switching over. I have a wellness checkup for Basil next month with the vet at this facility so I'll update then.

I've been bringing my dogs to Culver for the past three years after a trusted friend who owns a pet…read moreshop in Southern California recommended Dr. Keng to me. I'm so grateful that he did. I've also had the opportunity to see Dr. Pasucci, who is equally wonderful. Before finding Culver, I had been to several different veterinary practices, and my experiences were very hit or miss. I never quite felt completely comfortable or confident that my dogs were in the hands of someone I truly trusted. That changed when I met Dr. Keng. What I appreciate most about Dr. Keng is that she genuinely takes her time. Appointments never feel rushed, and she is incredibly thorough and thoughtful when evaluating my dogs. You can tell that she has a tremendous amount of experience and has truly seen it all. She takes the time to explain what she is seeing and gives you the confidence that your pet is being carefully considered rather than simply being moved through an appointment. Over the past three years, Dr. Keng has cared for both of my pugs, and I have trusted her completely with their health. When one of my pugs experienced an emergency, there was never a question about who I wanted to call. I knew I needed Dr. Keng's opinion because she was the one veterinarian whose judgment I trusted and whose input I valued most. I'm incredibly grateful that my two pugs have been in such capable and caring hands over the past three years. Finding a veterinarian you genuinely trust is incredibly important when your pets are family, and I feel very fortunate to have found Dr. Keng and the team at Culver. I couldn't recommend them more highly.

This is regarding exams for Katniss and Gigi on Wed, 11/26…read more I used to like bringing my two cats here. Sadly, now I just have one cat (Gigi). Katniss passed/we had to put her down on Monday early early morning: 12/1. :'( Jennie, Aranza and I had texts going back and forth. I asked for an appt. so we scheduled the cats to come in on Saturday, 11/15 (which was cancelled due to me not having gabapentin for the fur girls-ran out). I stated some concerns with Katniss and that she wasn't eating as much, lost some weight, and hiding...instead of saying, let's get you right in to see what's going on with her, I was told they need their Gabapentin to come in... When I came in finally with the kitties on Wed, 11/26, the vet tech gals: Jennie and Aranza weren't that friendly or welcoming. Hui who used to be there before was wonderful. They have been ok in the past but maybe more upset about something lately...not sure. Dr. Oakley later came in and I have liked her and respected her and her skills in the past but she isn't the warmest, although laughs sometimes but I felt her bedside manner not great. She looked at Katniss and said she's lost half her weight, was furiously writing notes and alluded to Katniss maybe having something serious=and may have to go into hospice and have cancer. She got the blood tests done and ultrasound and showed me reports. This was all very concerning of course. I felt what was disappointing is she kind of harped on the fact (and seemed to shame me) that I said the cats went on a hunger strike with royal canin urinary so diet, and by that I didn't mean that they weren't eating at all but less. Dr. P. who I met with year prior with the kitties stated they MUST be on that diet or at least Katniss since she had bladder stones so I was following directions. They were only eating less like a day or two...it wasn't many days. And I would never starve the kitties or something! I got new food they liked on Sunday, 11/23 "Gravy lovers" and they were both eating more again. So katniss was going through all this and we were directed to go to emergency room for pets (AVSG in Tustin). Before this, Dr. Oakley did an exam for Gigi and said because she's a pound less, she shouldn't have bloodwork done or rabies vaccine. I thought that was a ridiculous because she was probably losing just a little weight due to not liking the royal canin so wet food and even the dry food a bit (I'm wondering with the wet food if it was a bad batch). I didn't get the precaution ( because Gigi wasn't showing any signs of illness and has been healthy) but maybe vet was just more focused on Katniss and didn't want to make her upset/or thought Gigi could act up...but btw, they both had the gabapentin that is apparently required and I gave them both 2 hours before appts, so they weren't in any feisty mode! Just FYI, I took Katniss to the emergency Vet on 11/26 directly after this appt. Gigi we took home. Katniss was not in great shape and had to be hospitalized and I talked to vets every day and visited every day. She had fluids, feeding tube since not eating own food much. They said she had kidney chronic disease and an acute kidney issue...not sure how this was caused...I've looked around my place and garage and don't think toxins led to this . The emergency vet said it could have just been as simple as not eating or drinking as much one day. And she may have had pancreatitis too which could have contributed. Sadly, Katniss did not make it...and before this, I got a text from Owen from C. Pet clinic asking about Gigi...why not ask about Katniss? I responded what Katniss was going through and he responded but maybe got name wrong? I got an automated email the other day that said...Gigi still needs to finish up appointment or something. That seemed totally tone def and there was no mention of ...we are so sorry for your loss re: katniss. Maybe If I got her in earlier to appts, things could have been better and she would have lived! But if that's not the case...at least let people bring their pets in without the gabapentin especially if the cat is low energy and feeling not well anyway. That seemed very unthinking and not thoughtful. I'm not sure if I'll be going back here, but wish everyone the best of luck. I have trusted this business for years but now I don't have the same trust that I had in the way the vet techs and this vet do things. I may call and speak to manager too. I'm very sad re: losing katniss and I could have had an earlier appt. and not had to wait for the gabapentin! Did Jennie or staff get that I needed to bring in Katniss especially asap? Anyway, it is what it is but disappointed for sure. Some things may have turned out differently if there wasn't a canceled appt. due to the gabapentin issue. Also, it's odd katniss had kidney issues when none of your previous tests showed this, so maybe something missed or dropped out.
