Surgery went very well with a great surgeon. They just had a very busy schedule. I would recommend them.

Worst communication system I've ever experienced. No one answers the phone. I go to the patient portal to change my appointment because of a conflict. NO RESPONSE. ever since Hudnall retired this place has become a nightmare to deal with. I don't know if they don't know how to manage a medical practice but it's obvious they don't really care. As soon as I have my next appointment I'm going to look for another urologist. Ive been with them for close to 15 years. I would advise not to get started with this group to avoid the frustration of their lack of attentiveness to patients. So Abbey F. After several calls and 4 weeks later I finally spoke with someone who said there is no order and they would email the doctor. That was 2 weeks ago. Today I spoke with a staff member at San Antonio Urology about an issue with my insurance no longer being accepted there. I had previously been seen a couple of times by Dr. John Case for prostate and urinary concerns. When I arrived for my third appointment at the Stone Oak clinic, I was informed that my insurance was no longer accepted and that I would need to pay out of pocket if I wished to continue seeing Dr. Case. In an effort to resolve the issue, I changed my HMO to one the office indicated they could accept and obtained a new PCP who submitted a new referral. When I called the office again, I spoke with the same staff member, only to be told that they would accept only part of my insurance, leaving me still unable to continue my care with Dr. Case. While I was in the middle of asking a question, the call was abruptly disconnected. I found this to be extremely discourteous and unprofessional. As a retired nurse, I find this type of treatment deeply disappointing. Patients have no control over changes in insurance policies, and it is disheartening to encounter staff who seem unwilling to take the time to assist someone simply trying to continue necessary medical care. I am sharing this experience so others are aware and can make informed decisions. read more

I can't speak to the ability of the doctors here, it might be fine. What I can speak to is the absolutely terrible experience I had trying to get an appointment scheduled for a procedure. I was referred by my doctor to Urology San Antonio for a routine surgery. When I called to schedule the appointment I spoke with someone at (apparently) their call services center who scheduled me for a consultation. I drove 45 mins each way the day of the consultation only to find out that the provider she scheduled me with (either a PA or an NP I can't remember) cannot do that consultation. The doctor was not in. I had to reschedule for a month later. I also explicitly gave some information about an optional service I wanted for the procedure. They called someone else, checked if they could offer that, told me they could, and I was on my way. Today I drove there again. The appointment was supposed to be at 4:00 PM for the consultation and afterwards the procedure. I arrived at 3:45 PM as instructed, and checked in. I was taken back to a second room and answered a few more questions about 30 mins later. I also asked at this time if my request for the optional service was noted and the young woman said she wasn't sure. I was then taken to the operating room by a different young woman who would assist with the procedure. Finally at around 4:45 the doctor (Cantrill) walked in for the "consultation" and very quickly (I'm guessing because he wanted to get out of there) started talking. I asked if the optional service was noted and some other questions. The optional service was not noted but he said he could do it and the other answers to my questions were fine. I just had to go pay an extra fee at the front desk. At the front desk I was told it was too late because the guy with the keys to the room that had the equipment for the service was not there anymore and I'd need to reschedule. At this point I completely gave up. I can't trust an office with my health and especially not surgery that can't even get basic scheduling right. At this point I have wasted ~ 4-5 total hours of time between driving round trip 40-50 mins each way and waiting in their waiting rooms. This includes several hours of time off work. I got a refund and left. I'll get the procedure done elsewhere - and if my experience is at all normal for this group, I'd recommend you get whatever you need done elsewhere too. This was incredibly stressful and frustrating. Any time someone is going to do surgery it is already nerve wracking, add to that the frustration of the rest of the experience and it is untenable. I don't know how they are in business. read more

After leaving a detailed review about how this business never answers their phone or returns calls, I received a short, standard response from Abbie F to call a number to speak with Glenn about my concerns. Guess what? It goes to a recording to wait for the next available agent (no Glenn). It then gives an option to leave a voicemail (again) and someone will call back within 24 hours. I chose that option, and was transferred to someone in appointments!?!? Unbelievable!! Customer service for this place sucks!! read more

You cannot get through to anyone on the phone. It is frustrating! I had a procedure on 4/25/2025 with a stent placed afterwards. The stent has moved, or failed, and the number they gave me to call for any problems no one answers. I am right now on HOLD and have been for 27 minutes. I have left 3 call back messages and no one has called back. I do not recommend this practice! After waiting on hold for 31 minutes with no answer, I finally gave up. Hire more help!!! read more

Called today as an established patient to get in for a UTI. I was told by the scheduling department that they could see me on THURSDAY! That is absolutely unacceptable! I tried to call ALL day to speak with a nurse. I never got through. I tried to call around 4 to speak with an office manager. No luck. Well at least my gynecologist didn't think that I should wait FOUR days to get a UTI taken care of. Answer your phone! read more

Loved Dr. Hudnall, but he retired. I chose to see an associate doctor at a location closer to my home. The doctor was very unwelcoming, not very professional and rude. Not going back. My GP will care for me and recommend a specialist when I need one! read more

I've been a patient at Urology San Antonio for several years, and had been satisfied until my recent visit, where I spent 2 hours there for a very brief visit with the Dr. They sent an order for imaging as a result of my consultation, and asked that I contact the imaging center to schedule, then contact Urology San Antonio to let them know when imaging is scheduled, so they can then schedule me for a follow-up appointment to discuss the result (the doctor can't just call me?). Problem is, I can't get a human on the line when I call, and requesting a call-back when prompted gets no result. Also tried online request for call-back, but no response to that, either. My insurance portal does not show any pre-authorization request for the imaging, so I don't know what's going on with this group. It appears I will have to cancel my imaging appointment due to unknown status of the service request. I see no alternative at this point other than seeking continued care from another provider group that will be able to respond to patient needs. read more

I really like my doctor here, but their scheduling department is a joke! I had an appointment that was scheduled in December 2025, it was cancelled by the practice. I rescheduled January 2026, this one was cancelled by the practice also! I have tried calling at least 6 times, trying to reschedule, but the line is always busy, no one answers. I then left several messages on their new voicemail, saying they would return my call within 24 business hours. It's been 3 days so far and no response. Thoroughly disgusted and hope someone in the office reads this as I'm sure I'm not the only person who has this issue!! read more

well, my fears came true. I had an emergent situation with my tubes .. I thought issues at SA Urology was totally a phone issue but then the staff speaks to you and says "we have 24 to 48 hours to return your message." have they ever heard of triage? ( yes they took the message.) This is unacceptable and poor quality of care. I ended up calling the hospital and they got me in that day to try to correct the problem this could not have waited 24 to 48 hours read more

No live person EVER answers the phone. And after you are forced to listen to the lengthy autocrap you have the choice to stay on permanent hold or leave a callback number. The recording says they will call within 48 hours. I have tried doing this on multiple occasions but NEVER a return call...PATHETIC!!! This place has a pitiful star rating as it should. Also, I had my primary care doctor fax them my records but they said they never received them. My doctor actually showed me what they had faxed with the date on it as proof of their sending. Office staff scheduled my next appointment for July 4th. Needless to say, their office will be closed. Cannot get through on phone to reschedule. Went through 8 years of treatment for bladder. Had serious reaction to BCG therapy-Hypersensitivity pneumonitis-a type of allergic reaction that causes inflammation in your lungs, for which you should "call your healthcare provider right away." Did so, spent 5 minutes going through phone tree to get to choose to "speak to your provider's staff" 15 minutes , on hold before phone was answered, not by my provider's staff but the office operator who did not reveal this until after I had explained why I was calling, then said she would transfer me to "your doctor's MA". Another 30 minutes on hold then phone was hung up on their end with no answer or even an opportunity to leave a voice mail message. read more

Almost impossible to make phone contact or leave word on issues concerning my active treatment for prostate cancer. You will hold and listen to recordings ad nauseam. You can send messages to the patient portal asking for information and they will never respond. They totally don't care about you!! They fail to get preauthorization for treatment numerous times. read more

I had a procedure completed last year and tried repeatedly to get a cost estimate for the procedure without success. More than 5 phone calls, hung up on, promised call backs which was never completed. At the hospital I was given a cost estimate and was NOT provided a FULL disclosure as they did NOT include the anesthesiologist which was an additional $2000. Surprise! Unfortunately, I am getting older and now require another procedure and can't find a Urologist outside of this office so once again, trying to get a cost estimate and same old process. I've already called 5 times, been left hanging, hung up on, and transferred to a message service. If I could find another option, I would take it! Urology San Antonio detected early prostate cancer through rise in PSA then a biopsy. My radical prostatectomy left me with permanent incontinence and inability to achieve an erection. Yes, I went through a year of physical therapy for the incontinence but 2 years out I still go through 5-10 diapers every day. My beef with the practice is that the surgeon and the urologist I had been seeing both pronounced the surgery a success because I my PSA remains low. I have a different view since I suffer from permanent incontinence and ED. The experience changed my quality of life -- for the worse. read more

Great service at the clinic... But I have been trying to reach the clinic by phone for 3 weeks. I have left messages in the patient portal, requested a call back via their call back service, and have not a received a call back, or have been hung up on after holding for over 45 minutes. Completely unprofessional behavior, but they were quick to get me in the office for the initial visit so I can pay my copay. read more

Heather Bridgeford NP is a sensational urology NP, who has seen me for 5 years. She is a provider who truly goes above and beyond for me, and all of her patients. I have a rare condition, and she takes the time to listen, research, and explain every option with complete honesty. Her empathy and genuine concern make me feel heard and supported through every step of my care. It's rare to find a provider who has such deep medical knowledge combined with concern and a strong moral compass -- I'm truly grateful for her. read more

I have been seen here for my issues for a few years now, and generally receive outstanding service. They really care of the patients well and are very understanding. My one gripe is getting a prior authorization for a prescription I need. I am out of my medication and my employers insurance wants a new prior authorization for the meds I have been on for at least 2 years. So, I am still in limbo until I get that done. Really sucks since it is a specialty medication and has to be mailed to me. read more

As everyone else has pointed out, the doctors are pretty good, but the administrative side of the is just trash. You can't get ahold of anyone, you'll wait in the lobby 20-30 mins past your appointment time, and don't get me started on their billing department. How this circus of an organization has managed to stay in business is beyond me. Save yourself the headache and frustrations...just go to another provider that has their stuff together. read more

Wish I could divide the review. The doctors I have dealt with are AMAZING. They definitely receive a 5/5. However, good luck reaching and talking to one. The phone support is the worst I have ever experienced. If you are lucky enough for the call to get through to a person, the phone help is terrible. Scheduling is terrible. Getting a call back is terrible. Prescriptions after surgery were never sent to pharmacy - took two days to respond and still never sent to pharmacy. How can an entire area be so bad for so long and nothing has been fixed? read more

Just when one believes they are making progress because they tell you to dial a certain number for your provider, that number is never answered. The provider I had, Dr Hofer, did a good job with my penile implant, but he was the first doctor I've had perform a major surgery that didn't come by afterwards to go over the procedure and follow-on instructions. I had concerns but was told he had no appointments for over a month. The tech I talked with was incredibly rude and refused to even pass my concerns on to the doctor. I went up the supervisory chain and managed to get an appointment, but I was transfered to another provider because they weren't "comfortable" providing me service. In other words, don't complain. I will say the tech that instructed me on using the implant did an excellent job. Appointments are hard to schedule and you may not even get phone calls returned. There are just so many other options for urology service that putting up with the staff and scheduling just aren't worth it. If I had it to do over, I'd have gone to one of the premier implant surgeons in the US that is in Houston. read more

So far, I've had one appointment and lots of experience with the administration side of this practice. I waited about 45-50 minutes past my appointment time to be seen by Dr. Hakim. He was pleasant and professional. The followup appt. was scheduled, and needed to be re-scheduled. In that conversation, I was STUNNED at the incompetence of the clerical person attempting to help me re-schedule. She literally asked me how to spell 4 letter words and it took over 20 minutes. The resulting appointment was inaccurate, which generated a letter requesting another re-schedule. After waiting for 29+ minutes, I was able to confirm my next appointment with Cindy, who was very professional. Bottom line: doctor is great. Administrative support: terrible read more

The pharmacy called on Monday and said our prescription was ready and would be put up if not picked up by Friday. Rather rude since we had not placed an order for meds. When we picked it up Tues, she was about to put it away. Not very friendly considering the money they make off my meds. Referred by my general practitioner , they were supposed to contact me but never did. I called for weeks & each time was on hold for very long time and then their system simply hanged up on me each time. Early, mid morning and afternoon calls all had same result. I experienced something alarming and seemingly inexplicable recently: I couldn't stop urinating. I'm not talking about "frequent urination" in the traditional sense (e.g., an old guy getting out of bed to pee a couple of times) but in an *extreme* sense. At one point, I was urinating at least thirty times per day. A visit to the toilet would produce approximately sixteen ounces of clear urine, only to be followed by another visit shortly thereafter. I'm prone to hypochondria, so my mind began ruminating. Did my prostate explode overnight? Was my body suddenly purging itself of gallons of pent-up urine? Was the constant flow of tinkle Satan's blasphemous answer to the stigmata? I was tired of guessing (and tired of camping out at the urinal), so I made an appointment with Urology San Antonio. I cannot remember my doctor's name, but it most certainly was not Dr. David Talley. Don't get me wrong; I'm sure Dr. Talley is a compassionate, skilled medical professional, but my most sensitive parts shrivel at the thought of a "Talley whacker." Seriously, the dude is really named Dr. Talley. What's next, a vasectomy specialist named Richard Chopp? The urologist I *did* see asked me to describe my symptoms and seemed a bit baffled at first. He instructed me to "assume the position" so that he could examine my prostate. Being a young fellow, I was new to this experience, but I calmed my jangled nerves by visualizing a scene from "Fletch" wherein Chevy Chase croons "Moon River" whilst undergoing the same procedure. His diagnosis: internal hemorrhoids, likely caused or at least exacerbated by work-related stress. He explained that the hemorrhoids were pushing a nerve connected to my bladder and telling it to purge itself. He advised me to relax and to avoid straining on the toilet. I promised to heed his advice and thanked him for putting my mind at ease. A few weeks have since passed and I feel much better. I have no basis of comparison, but my experience at Urology San Antonio was entirely positive. The front desk staff were courteous, the facility was clean, and the billing/insurance mumbo jumbo took little time to sort out. Best of all, I walked out with my tally un-whacked. Mine was a relatively minor issue, though, so take this review with a grain of calcium oxalate (aka kidney stone). read more

Two years ago I had a Rezum procedure done for enlarged prostate At San Antonio Urology. The worst experience ever, the procedure was very painful. There were no improvements at all. I had to use a catheter for three days the day the catheter was taken out I had to go to the ER to have a catheter put back on. The healing process was three months and previous symptoms of frequent urination still remained. I would not recommend Rezum it is a mid-eval torture. It also caused my penus to atrophy. read more
