I was able to get an appointment within a reasonable period of time, to address a kidney stone. The office was effecient with providing me the necessary new patient forms in advance of my appointment. In addition, they requested that I bring a copy of my CT scan conducted by visit to the ER During my appointment, Dr. Schuster's office was not able to read my CT scan because their computers could not read the disk. They were not able to see the images for the kidney stones and suggested that I stay on some medication and his office would call a refill into the pharmacy. The office never called in the prescription and there was never a response to the pharmacy refill request. Since his office is within the Alexian Brothers Medical facility in Rolling Meadows, I was able to talk to someone in the Records Department and the disc they provided of the CT scan was a DVD which as they explained is standard practice. I basically did not get any additional details that what was provided to me when I was in the ER. I had a follow-up appointment scheduled, which was set up when I left the office during my original appointment, otherwise would not have set it given my experience. Unfortunately, I was out of town on a business trip and did not get a reminder call. I was charged a $50 fee for a missed appointment. I accept the fact that it is my responsiblity to have cancelled the appointment. I called their office to ask for a waiver since this was my first occurence and they would not waive the fee, stating that it was a management decision to not waive fees. I would not recommend using this office. I am sure there are better managed offices elsewhere within the Chicagoland area.

Honestly, this is one of two doctors in my entire life I would not recommend. I had…read morebladder/urethral pain like a UTI but I also have interstitial cystitis. After taking antibiotics, nothing was getting better so I figured it probably is a IC flare and not a UTI. I was able to make an appointment quickly. The front desk staff etc were very friendly. But, when this doctor walked in, it was "what can I do for you?" No hi, or what brings you in today. I told her about the IC to which she replied "I don't really believe in that diagnosis". I knew right there that the visit was done. When I questioned why I treatments worked many years ago when I was diagnosed by a urogynecologist, I basically got crickets. I just kept getting told you're fine. You're feeling fine, you're fine. Ummm no, I'm not fine. Just because I feel ok today is one thing but I felt like crap the last week and a half and in pain. So a cery short visit got me no where except less money in the checking account due to a copay. I got no answers, just kept being told I don't have to worry about anything, that in fine. Mind you, I gave a urine sample she told me we do not have to culture because I'm fine. If I have UTI type symptoms, you think they'd tear it, right?! Well, I wasn't fine the next day. After a couple more days I went to urgent care. Met an amazing doctor who was so informative. They did all sorts of testing to rule out other diagnosis plus they did a urine culture to see specifically what strain of bacteria it might be, if so. Three days later, the culture came back. Turns out I had a very bad infection of a highly resistant to antibiotics bacterial strain. So the urgent care doctor at that time prescribed me the correct antibiotics for that strain. They did not want to give me antibiotics until the actual culture came back, which makes sense. I am pissed because I could have already been treated for a UTI a week ago if this urologist would test my urine instead risking my life because the infection could have gone to my kidneys or made me septic. I do not recommend this doctor at all. Clearly she cannot do her job.

I first met Dr. Shashoua after a failed embryo transfer that left me septic, internally bleeding, and in critical condition. I was so sick that I didn't fully understand what was happening -- I was truly dying. Dr. Shashoua stepped in with the urgency, skill, and calm confidence that only an exceptional surgeon can bring. He performed the emergency operation that saved my life, and I will forever be grateful. After stabilizing me, he did something that shows how deeply he cares about his patients: he referred me to a far better fertility doctor because he knew I needed more specialized and attentive care than I had previously received. That referral changed everything for my fertility journey. A few months later, he performed my endometriosis excision surgery and removed my tubes. These were major, life-altering procedures, and he approached every decision with precision, empathy, and extraordinary expertise. I now see him regularly to monitor and manage my endometriosis and infertility, and he continues to provide the highest level of care. What sets him apart is how closely he works hand-in-hand with my fertility doctor, ensuring that every aspect of my treatment is coordinated. My case is extremely complex and often overwhelming, but he has never once made me feel like a burden. He treats me with compassion, respect, and true dedication. If you have endometriosis, fertility challenges, pelvic pain, or any complicated gynecologic or urologic condition, Dr. Shashoua is the doctor you want in your corner. He is an extraordinary surgeon, an exceptional physician, and someone who genuinely cares about his patients' lives and futures. I owe him mine.
