I've been putting off a much-needed beauty supply store trip and finally made it. US Beauty Mart was the closest to where I was at the time so I figured it was worth a visit. First impression was how big this place is. There were aisles and aisles of beauty items, wigs, shampoos and anything else you can think of to keep you jazzy. I was on the hunt for a new shower cap, bonnet and scarf for myself and a baby durag/scarf for my son to use in coming months. With all the hair that I have, I need really big bonnets and things like that to keep my locs in order and some places just don't keep them in stock. Lucky me, I found them here! The prices were also really reasonable as I have seen these items in the past at some places that were charging over $10 for them! There were only 2 baby scarves and they were a little too girly for him (albeit, perfect for me lol) so I skipped in and figured I'd find something more neutral at another spot. I took a lap around the store and they really had it all. There were a few sections that were missing some items but it looked to be kids stuff which makes sense as school is just getting back into session and the kiddos want to look fresh! This beauty store has been my go-to simply because it's close to where I live, but once I find a Black-owned beauty supply, I won't be giving my black dollars to a non black profit. A lot of the girls they hire have bad attitudes, and it seems like they're chosen just because they can "relate" to the customers, not because of professionalism. My biggest issue is the tape and sensors they put on products. I understand they're trying to prevent people from opening items, and stealing but if the staff isn't prepared to properly remove the tape and sensor at checkout, they shouldn't apply them. It's a headache trying to peel that off at home it damages the packaging and makes the product look ugly. I gave two stars because there is one young lady who's always so pleasant and helpful every time I come in. I wish I knew her name she's a really beautiful, short Black girl who wears long braids and she always goes out of her way to help me find what I need. read more

An amazing employee that stood out to me was named Mercedes- she was able to not only direct me to the style of wig that I wanted to purchase, but also gave me professional tips and ultimately sold me on a wig that I am absolutely in love with! This location has horrible customer service. After attempting to exchange hair that I did not use (which was in pristine condition & purchased the day before) I was made out to be a common criminal by the elderly Asian woman who works there. Yesterday, I purchased 4 packs of the GoGo curl hair at this store, but found another color to mix at a different location so I returned the two I didn't need and received store credit. Today I tried to exchange the 2 packs I did not use. She continuously accused me of trying to receive store credit twice which was preposterous because I HAD the hair with me. She had the audacity to try to tell me to come back tomorrow for half of the exchange and I refused. I then took the store credit and picked out my items to purchase with it. Again when I approached the counter she made a scene! Instead of simply using the credit that she had just given me...she told me she would need the hair and the receipt in order to do the sale! In the end I demanded my merchandise and told her to keep the 2 packs of $6.99 hair she was so suspicious about. I will never shop here again and just want to warn others who may try it out. There are several other stores within a 5 mile radius who will treat black people with respect and will also honor the store policy. I also included the picture of the receipt. This woman also had the audacity to ask me why I didn't know who checked me out when it clearly says Angela on the receipt. The constant following, how being an Master Braider WITH a license isn't recognized nor respected..... ha I took my MOM here so she could get her 2 cute little wigs ($100) in total, then I needed supplies and a new blow dryer for my braid classes that I instruct ($150) - so $250 and some change... we walk out the alarm goes off and the stalker employee storms towards my elderly mother and snatches her bag. Lmao after she followed us around the entire store, saw us check out, pay with cards- watched me sort thru the bag to give my mother her wig brush & comb (because the wigs get checked out in the back next to the wanted for stealing posters) checks one receipt and accused MY MOM of stealing an $3 wig brush and a $1 comb.... She didn't want to hear what I was explaining nor did she understand until UNTIL I flipped tf out with BOTH receipts in hand.... and said y'all's employees need to do better with the sensors & ringing people out.... My mom was embarrassed asf by the workers actions and was damn near in tears * sn/ please don't be fooled by the ONE African American pawn they have working for them!! If I could give zero stars, I would this store has no customer service or do not value their customers at all. I bought a five dollar pair of earrings at the store. They broke immediately out of the pack. It was New Year's, so I took them back the next day, the lady that works there gave me an exchange for a different pair that cost one dollar more. I told da Asian or lady that runs the store. I did not have a dollar more. I drove back to the store to exchange earrings that broke I bought them. Why should I pay you a dollar more for earrings? They came from the same case so the young lady that works there pay the dollar for me I appreciate her customer service but the people that owned this store they have no regard or show remorse for saling faulty or undervalued merchandise. It was the principal. I had to come back to the store on my dime because your merchandise is bad!!!! And I've spent a whole lot more than 5$ in this store before. All the wigs are trash as well. Ok I have no idea why they have bad ratings, I've been shopping with them for 2 years now. I send all my friends and associates here who are looking for variety. I've never had any issues with the customer service, they answered any and all questions I've had very pleasantly, and have even shown me through the aisles. I am a Young Black Girl. I Spent Over $70 at the store. I was Racially profiled as a thief for a $2 lip gloss! I was treated like a criminal. I didn't appreciate how they delt with the situation. They couldn't find me on the camera stealing , yet they held on to me and looked at me as if it's my fault. They pulled a old used lip gloss out of my bag and claimed I stole yet they could not find proof. I had my receipt for the things I did buy. My lip gloss wasn't even from their store and they said I stole it from them. I will no longer be doing business with them. read more

I went into the store today to do an exchange and the cashier was extremely rude. I have purchased items at the store before and have not had as much of an issue as I did today. When I walked in, I went to the register to give the cashier the items that I wanted to exchange and she demanded to see my receipt. I informed her that I wanted to locate the items I wanted to exchange first before giving her the receipt but she insisted. I felt as if she was subliminally accusing me of fraudulent activity by insisting to see the receipt before I could even start looking for the items I needed to exchange. Once I gave her the receipt, she relented and I went into the store to get the items I needed. Being that I am a black, female customer it is customary practice to be mistreated and receive bad customer service when shopping in beauty supply stores. I will not allow anyone to mistreat me as a customer when I patronize their business. I will not be returning and I would not suggest others to shop there if they can avoid it. read more

2.5 STARS!! EXCELLENT SELECTION/POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE I frequent this store, mainly because they have a vast selection of products to choose from and the prices are pretty good. I call it the 'warehouse' or 'depot' when talking with my family because the options are pretty vast. I give this place 2.5 stars because I don't find the people working here to be friendly or helpful even. In many instances, I've come into the store and haven't been greeted (shame on me for still shopping here) or if I needed help no one was in sight to ask. I ran in this past weekend to grab a blush stick at around 8:52pm knowing the store closed at 9, but I knew I'd have to sprint in and back out. The minute I come thru the door, no lie, I get MA'AM WERE CLOSED. Meanwhile, I checked the door b4 coming in to confirm it said they closed at 9pm. I wound up grabbing my item and getting out in 2 mins (I checked the time on my cell in my car when I left and it was 8:59pm). It's just aggravating to have your first greeting be that. I know you're trying to get home. My suggestion would be to lock up so no new customers come in if you decide you want to close at 8:50pm and not 9 as listed. Another thing I find tacky is that they tape up their products and put their scan codes on them. It's clear that this is more about preventing theft and less about scan codes and OK, you want to keep your theft ratio uber low, but I can't read what's in the product before purchase and it's hell to open up after. These small things are the annoyances that will have me shopping elsewhere. I don't mind the location or the look of the store, both unappealing. I'm just concerned with the service. read more

This has got to be the WORST beauty supply l have been to. The young guy at the counter talks down to customers. With this type if NO customer service no use to go there. If there was a no star that is what they deserve. Just saw them talk down to an old lady in a wheelechair. And then they talk to each other in Korean as the lady is in front of them. I visited this place Thursday, 3/6/17 around 2:20-3:00PM. A woman worked in the back in her late 30's. She had 2 braids with glasses & worked in the left back corner where most of the wigs were to try on. She had zero personality, no customer service experience, lack of compassion & was not helpful at all! l have never been to a wig place before, so wanted information on different ones since I wasn't knowledgeable. There is a limit of trying on 3 wigs, which is ridiculous since there are well over 100 wigs. She did say reluctantly that I could try on 5. I needed to try on at least that many. I understand there must be many women that try on wigs just for the fun of it or because they want a new wig every month and have many at home. I wish that was my case! Mine is definitely needed due to hair loss. I wanted to try one more wig because I was interested in buying 2. I was reluctant trying on wigs in the 1st place. It isn't a fun thing for me since I'm only there to look at wigs due to medical reasons. I would much rather be some other place, so the sales associate should have a little respect & empathy for why I'm needing a wig. I'm certainly not there for the fun of it! It was not fun & very degrading for me having to expose my very thinning bald head. I felt very vulnerable. I told her due to major medical reasons I've lost a lot of hair. I'm handicapped & had to reach wigs from the top shelf. When I asked her for assistance, she ignored me. She could see I had a cane, I'm not an elderly person, I'm only 55 & have had 23 surgeries, She showed lack of compassion just by her not showing any interest in helping me. I told her I don't know what to look for, to explain the caps, it was like puling teeth to get info from her. The last thing she wanted to do was assist me! I would ask her a question & most of the time she would be looking or texting on her phone. I was the only customer in that section for 20-25 minutes, except for 2 ladies that were there for 5 minutes. My friend was appalled at how i was mistreated. I would have walked out not buying anything, if my friend didn't come for moral support, but that fact is, I was in need of a wig! I told the 70 plus year old woman with glasses at the front register how displeased I was, she too ignored me!! She never looked up at me while taking my money!! She never apologized or validated my feelings. She spoke English well, so that wasn't the reason for not communicating with me. I was thinking the woman in the back wig section was probably her daughter or family member. If that's the reason they were both rude, it explains why the 30 something yr old in the back acts the same as the 70 yr old woman in the front counter. They've learned it from each other! I'm the customer & was a very patient customer thinking someone there could have done the job they're paid to do..."Assist Customers!" If my employees or I treated my own customers in my family hardware retail store the way I was treated today & basically disregarded as a person, there would be major consequences to my employees & the customer would be reimbursed or received a discount for their horrible experience due to poor treatment given to them by my staff! It certainly was one of the worst shopping experiences I've ever encountered in my entire life! I feel I was treated the way I was due to my disability & skin color!! You would think someone there would show compassion for customers with cancer or other major illnesses or disabilities! I definitely will tell friends not to shop there due to the lack of customer service & people skills! I might even take further action!! This must not happen to anyone else that walks in those doors with a disability or illness and should be treated with respect and not treated like a nobody!! read more
