When it's 10:30 (over 3 hours!), we are at the last room before we go in, and then we here a voice over the intercom " ATTENTION, A FIRE HAS BEEN SPOTTED, PLEASE EVACUATE " when we are next up. We go outside, and they say they won't give refunds, there going to close when the building gets cleared. It's was the day before the last day there open, and i have to go to work at 11:00 am. It was a cold Michigan winter but the vibe was warm and welcoming. Lots of smiles, colors, lights, and people. More than expected especially due to the cold. The sponsors had extra headphones so the line to wait for headphones went quick and the process of turning them on and tuning in was seamless. The DJs were spinning beats making the crowds excited and the dance party never ending. Loved the food trucks surrounding the areas, the festival dancers interacting with the crowds, the aesthetically pleasing platform of artistic display, and the fire pits. Lots of security presence so I felt extra safe and we danced into the night. 11pm comes quick. Wish this would be every Saturday night downtown. Looking forward to next year!

The…read morefestival features lots of free events and activations and amazing outdoor art installations that get people out and about in the city during the coldest winter months. World of Winter takes place January 12 through March 10, 2024. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a big fan of winter, but I've really enjoyed all the events I've participated in through the past couple of years of World of Winter. Popular events include the silent disco, ice sculptures downtown and walking tours, human hungry hungry hippos, and a drag show at Calder Plaza. This year we got to check out the ice arcade, with foosball, connect four, cornhole, and more - all made from solid blocks of ice! The art installations are usually interactive and especially stunning at night with colorful lights and other features. For 2024 the giant inflated frogs at Ah Nab Awen Park are super popular and make for great photos. It's disappointing to see that some of the art installations have been damaged by people standing on them (when signs clearly posted tell you to not do this) and throwing huge ice chunks on them :( I hope that World of Winter can continue for years to come and we can avoid this type of vandalism.

They offer activities all October on the weekends at various times. But night time I can imagine is the most fun. The ticket line was short but the line for the event was pretty long. It did move quick as we got there a bit earlier in the evening. Once you are through that line, you get on tractors that take you to the first spot. And then there's more waiting. Even though it was cold the staff did a great job, they were all in a great mood and festive. The corn maze was fun but not as scary as I expected and not too hard to navigate. I enjoyed the twisted path more, it was more scarier. The path is very well put together with each piece creating an awesome ambiance. Overall it was a great experience and worth doing again. There are a number of mini haunted houses along the route that you enter while walking on the trail. Definitely bring your boots because it gets very muddy. Please note: Their actors DO TOUCH YOU, which was unexpected. They will grab your legs, shoulders, etc. Besides that, we had a great time and have to say that this place beats Erebus any day. P.S. There is food (cash only) in the main barn- so grab a hot chocolate before waiting in the long line.

The lanes were in good shape and the staff were friendly and helpful (for the most part). Shout out to the bartender/server that came around to take our orders at the lanes. He was very nice and attentive. They also had plenty of food and drink options, which made it easy to hang out for a while. The only downside is that it's a bit pricey, but overall the experience was worth it. Great spot if you're looking for a fun day/night out with friends or family. I don't have anything to compare it to with other bowling alleys in the area. Maybe the prices are on target with other places. I just know that for us to bowl, rent shoes, appetizer, 2 beers, and one soda = about $90.00. We would come here again. I think it was worth it. My kid had a great time!
