We've had a very disappointing experience with this company. After paying over $24,000 for an awning, we were left with multiple installation issues--from leaks to unsecured metal to sloppy sealant work. The owner, Doug, has been consistently unresponsive, and despite acknowledging the issues, he has not followed through on completing the work. Roy was scheduled to come out several times, but the appointments were repeatedly missed with no notice, no follow-up, and no accountability. We were given dates in November, December 23, and December 30, and no one ever showed up. Communication completely stopped in early January. After months of trying to get them to finish the job, we've had to hire a third-party contractor to correct the defective installation at our own cost. We would not recommend this company based on the poor workmanship, lack of responsiveness from Doug, and repeated no-shows from Roy. read more

Had new roof and gutter guards put on spending several thousand dollars. been trying for 3 weeks to get someone out to fix roof, gutter guards (which are falling off) and gutters are full. Rain water coming into our sunroom due to clogged gutters. I've called 5 numbers on the contract that salesman gave us when we agreed to have this company. Terrible customer service. This company installed a gutter guard system on my new home back in 2007. One piece of the gutter guard did not work well and I had to call them out a few times to try to correct the problem. It allowed the rain to pour over the top of the gutter guard instead of run inside the gutter. This went on for some time - calling them, out and them attempting to fix the issue and finally I got tired of all the elaborate creations each employee made to try to get the product to work so I gave up and decided to put up with that one area allowing rain splash. Fast forward to 2020 and I need a new roof on my house. The roofing company told me to have the gutter guard people remove their product before installation and then to have them replace once the new roof was installed. I did just that and coordinated getting the work done. Once the roof was installed and the gutter guard replaced , I thought nothing more about it and everything looked good to me. Fast forward to November 2023 and my GFCI tripped in the garage which also controls the outside outlets. One outdoor outlet is on the wall just under where the problematic gutter guard was. I looked closely at this outlet and noticed the cement siding around the receptacle was completely wet and rotten and the whole area was caving in. I assumed this was from the overflow of water from above..... I called in my handy man who looked more deeply and told me the bad news- that this wasn't the water which overflowed the gutter guard above but was from rain somehow getting in behind the siding from the roof line. He suggested I call the roofer who had installed the roof which I did. He came out next day and took detailed photos of the area above and showed me what was the culprit. After he had installed my new roof, the gutter guard installer from US Home Exteriors had drilled a hole through the step siding when he reinstalled the product after the roof install, allowing rain to gain access to inside my wall. BIG mistake. So 3 years of this unseen and the damage was done. My handyman removed all the compromised material and I was left with a huge hole and rotten wood at the the front of my home and was told I would be losing my window too. He tarped it to keep it from further damage. I immediately contacted US Home Exteriors and was told someone would be out to look at the damage. A manager came out Nov 22nd and took photos that supported what the roofer had said - the gutter guard installer messed up. . He told me someone would be out to repair the hole either 24th or 25th. I hadn't heard anything by the 25th so I sent the manager a text asking what was happening. His response, " I'm trying to get in touch with my roofer. I'll let you know". A few hours later he sent me a message asking me if his roofer made it out to me. I told him Id waited in all day and no-one had been out. He then handed things over the the VP of the company. I asked him what I was supposed to do with the missing siding and wood at the front of my house. He told me to go ahead and get my guy to repair everything and he would get someone to replace the damaged flashing. His roofer arrived at the same time as my handy man the next day and my guy stood back to let him do his thing..... however after having been her maybe 15 minutes or so and having removed the gutter, guard and all the hardware, he disappeared and never returned. My guy noticed he left all the hardware on my porch roof. My guys went ahead and did a great job repairing the wall and finally US Home Exteriors sent out a guy who refabricated my downspouts one last time, replaced the damaged siding and reinstalled the gutters and guards. Fortunately I did not have to replace the window after all. I called the VP of the company asking how she would be reimbursing me for all the damage her company caused and she told me that even though her manager TOLD me to go ahead and get my handy man to fix the front of the house, I should NOT have done that and I should have told my handyman to NOT do the work so that US Home Exteriors could do the work instead. She refused to pay 1 penny of the damage her company caused and I have had to foot the bill myself. An estimate should take about 30 min, but after an hour, I had to tell the over-pushy, misogynistic sales person off my property . I was subject to questions like: Do I "have financial responsibility to make financial decisions? Where's your husband, he needs to be involved". Beware of John Lovegrove! He will sit in his car for 40 min to make the estimate and then want to come in your home, OH, but first he wants to use your bathroom. What choice did we have? He stated if we didn't let him in, he would "piss behind one of our trees! I wonder how many yards he has pissed on? Probably not enough. I sent him packing , without hearing the dreaded sales pitch with product endorsement. When he made us wait another 10 minutes to take a phone call (from a male customer), He was offended when I told him he was wasting my time. My original review had me living in San. Fran. Ca., this is actually from McLeansville, NC. My original review was based upon the various dates I was promised to have them install my patio cover. Well, they finally did install the cover, and the incompetence continued. I was told and promised (because of the previous scheduling screw ups) that they would come on a Friday to deliver the supplies, take a guess, they NEVER showed up, zero phone call(s) to inform me about the schedule change. They came Monday and dropped the supplies, I was told that I didn't need to be home, my security cameras caught them ringing my doorbell multiple times. That week I had days where they didn't show up or left early, or came late in the afternoon, because they had to finish another job, or because they forgot additional items or had truck issues. WTH?? I came home one day, and they stated that they measured the length of the patio incorrectly, so they had to make adjustments. Now keep in mind at least three people came out and measured the patio before they started the project. I called and complained to what I assume was upper management, etc., all I heard was we are sorry, i apologize. We will do better...NOPE the incompetence continued...The lead person on the job told me that his son didn't really want to work, and the guy that was with him initially was brand new and had NEVER done this work before, and you could see that by the guy constantly looking around. for something to do. Throughout the project, the crews size varied from 3 to 2 daily. Now!!!!! I'm discovering that the structure is leaking, I have called MULTIPLE times, take a guess, NO ONE is answering the calls, and you CANNOT leave a voicemail. I called to get a quote on some GUTTER GUARDS for a portion of my house. Strange that I had a very hard time getting someone to come out as they kept insisting that my wife be present. Once here, the older gentleman didn't spend much time measuring or listening to me, but kept asking when my wife was coming home and then wanted to wait to explain his gutter guard system. Must be some sleazy sales tactic. His gutter guard system was really no different than what I had researched and what another contractor had shown me, but his quote was over $3K while the other contractor's was around $1500 (initially only $900). Fast forward a bit and I found out that Consumers Reports actually had recently tested gutter guards and found that none performed any better than the low-cost DIY (do-it-yourself) types available at local home improvement stores. As a result, I called up a gutter cleaner and he not only cleaned out and flushed my clogged gutters, but also installed a simple guard system over my areas of concern and put in devices to address the actual issues of overflow and clogging - all for about $120! Expensive, "professionally installed" gutter guards seem to be just another home improvement scam, one with high profit and very little fallout, because as one contractor told me, how many people will actually get up on a ladder in the rain to inspect the work or verify they even work! read more

During our trip to BJs in Cary, we took pity on Jeff and agreed to let this company offer an estimate on replacement windows and siding. We agreed to a day and time and got a follow up call to confirm. At that time I told them I would be at work but my husband would be there. She tried to reschedule saying "they like both spouses to be at home" for the appointment. Sounded just like those timeshare sales pitches, doesn't it? I explained that my husband has renovated homes in the past and was renovating our current home. he hurt his shoulder so he agreed to this appt because of my insistence, So I told the caller that it was 100% up to my husband since he knew a lot about windows and siding, etc. She agreed to have someone call him in the event the sales person was running late. I gave them my husband's number. You can guess what happened, can't you? First they call me instead of him and then they say their guy is stuck at another job. I tell him to call my husband which he does and then tries to reschedule the appointment, And insists that I need to be there for the appt. Needless to say we are not impressed. They are using outmoded sales tactics and already they can't be depended upon to do what they say. I would never fork over thousands of dollars to a home renovating company that can't even show up for their first appointment. Already they think their time is more valuable than ours. They live up to the stereotype that contractors are not dependable. I can only imagine what the sales pitch would be like! On top of everything they are based in Burlington...not local enough for us! I'd rather deal with someone who lives where they work so they might have to face me after its all said and done. During the last home show in Sep. 2013, we talked with a representative from US Home Exteriors and scheduled an estimate. I did not know that they would be very pushy and try to make us to make a decision on the spot about an expensive purchase. The salesmen was late due to traffic but stayed till 9pm (at our house for 2 hours). The guy was nice until we said no and then everything changed and he wasn't nice anymore. The guy quoted us 10400 to replace 9 windows... X( OMG! No one said hey are you okay to pay 1k a window, which I am not. He called some guy on the phone trying to get the price reduced but he was still not happy that we said we needed to think about it. I feel that I should be able to think as long as I want to make a decision. We had to force him out of the house while he was still trying to push the sale. Thanks, but no thanks. read more

I wish I had read the reviews here before I let US Home Exteriors into my house. I thought I had done my homework by checking them out on BBB (no complaints, A+ rating) and on Angie's List (no reviews at all). Unfortunately, I completely missed the reviews here on Yelp, and I paid the price. Experience tells me that an estimate should take about 30 minutes. Instead, I got two and a half hours of a very pushy sales pitch. I was expecting to go back to the office that afternoon and get some work done, but by the time the guy left, the workday was over and I was totally frustrated. Although I'm convinced of the quality of their product, I have decided that this company is not to be trusted. If they had behaved like responsible professionals, and actually offered me an estimate and then left me to my business, I would probably hire them. But after the disrespect they showed me--essentially lying about their purpose for coming to my home--they can forget it. read more

Hard sales con tactics. The guy wouldn't leave me alone for hours and I actually really did like the product. So, I put 10% down and had a discussion with my better half. We agreed that we needed to spend that money elsewhere and called to cancel. They wouldn't cancel it. Gave us the run around and have since kept our 10% down. Insane. After calling for months, they've been extremely rude to us, hung up on us, and told us "tough luck." They're all crooks and they're running a terrible business over there. Good riddance. read more

My husband was not fond of the idea of cleaning gutters on a second story house. A sales representative from US Home Exteriors contacted us about gutters guards. It sounded like a solution. We opted to have them installed at the price $4000.00 which sounded unreasonably high to me. and it was! There was no price negotiating, but I didn't want my husband to endanger himself ; apprehensively, I agreed to spend the money . On the first heavy rainfall, the water ran right over the guards missing the gutters completely and created a waterfall across the front door entrance. I called to report the problem and a technician was sent out 1-2 weeks later to fix it. Heavy rainfall came a few weeks later and our house had an even larger waterfall spread over the front entrance to our house. It was not fixed! This time my husband captured the waterfall in a video from his phone. Hence, another phone call to US Home Exteriors to report the issue had not been resolved. I am upset the new gutter guards didn't work in the first place after the amount it cost to purchase them. I am now more upset, the solution they offered didn't work and I am having to call again. Yesterday, the technician arrived to correct the problems. Upon completion, I was asked to approve of the "fix". Oh my heavens! What I saw was a large white oversized drain running in a "Z" pattern across the front of my grey roof. It was not aesthetically pleasing but an EYE SORE that broke up the symmetry of the house. If US Home Exteriors calls themselves experts and professional, just look at my home and make your own decision. They did not evaluate the rain run-off from my roof properly therefore were unable to install an effective system. They under estimated the problem until I sent them the video. And, they jerry-rigged a solution which was offensive to the eye. A qualified engineer should have been sent, in my opinion.This is not what I expect from a company that claims they have only one complaint in all their years of operation, are professional backed by years of experience. Aggressive robo-calling in use by this company. They are also currently calling people on the "do not call registry" despite that being against NC statute § 75-102. I was hung up on twice while trying to resolve the robo calling issue, first by a salesperson, then by the assistant manager. You called me 8 times over two days; I thought you wanted to talk to me! I'm disappointed I have to even write this review. I have used this company for many years now. Michael was a wonderful young man. Very professional, knowledgeable, respectful, well groomed and overall a nice young man. You don't meet a lot of those from his generation. He went above and beyond while at my residence. Even fixed things around my house that he wasn't there to do. He would talk with my 5 year old granddaughter even showed her pictures of his beautiful daughter, wife and little one on the way. Now I've tried to contact the number I have for him and have learned he was fired. I'm not sure why this company would let this young man go. Wayne and I believe his son came to my home to fix and issue I was having. Not only did they not fix it but I am not pleased with them one bit. They look like drug addicts with no personal hygiene care. When I approached the truck you could clearly tell they don't take care or appreciate anything. The truck was more of a personal ash tray, trash can and reeked of a horrible odor. They also threw cigarettes in my yard and left trash behind. I also believe it was Wayne's wife that popped up in a white Jeep while they were working and stayed until they were "done". In my opinion that's not professional one bit! To make matters worse I was informed Wayne was the new production manager when I called Michael's cell phone. I'm assuming this is a company phone. He reassured me he would be better than Michael and handle any of my needs. I do not want Wayne or his son Dylan in my home with their foul odor and unprofessionalism. Took awhile to draft this review as I was trying to give US Home Exteriors a chance to make right what they promised. After several months of calls and promises to have my issue corrected, I finally gave up. While the gutters installed work well and look good, the installer caused damage to the paint on the rear of my house. My house at the time was not yet a year old and the damage was not extensive, yet noticeable. After a lot of back and forth to resolve the issue, US Home simply stopped returning my calls altogether. PLEASE do not allow this company to come into your home and give a quote. We agreed to get a quote after a canvasser came through our neighborhood and it was a very bad decision. The "quote" ended up being a very uncomfortable and high pressure sales situation. The salesman stayed at our home for two hours (until 9pm on a Tuesday night) and basically tried to force us into making a very large purchase on the spot. In addition, their quote was $3,000 over the highest quote I had received for similar products from several other area companies. We used US Home Exteriors for the second time recently for vinyl replacement windows and had a very good experience. (The previous time, we had Gutter Magic installed with great success.) First, the windows are great; we really couldn't be happier with them. The installation crew was also great and finished replacing just about every window in our home (15, all large) in one day. I never would ahve believed that possible. Two windows arrived from the manufacturer with small defects, and required a re-order. They still installed the new ones while waiting for the re-orders to arrive. Everything was happening in the background to get the new windows squared away, but without knowing, I felt that I had to call. In a perfect world, they would have been proactive and told me where things were in the progress, but when I called in I was able to get a quick update. As for the sales process, it was a time-consuming, but this is a major purchase and it should take some time. Benjamin was our sales person for both purchases and was well informed on the products. I will say that their insistance for both spouses to be present is un-necessary and outdated. My wife and I own a custom closet/organization company and employ in-home sales persons and never make such a request. I simply told the scheduler that I would try my best but with our schedules I couldn't guarantee it. I ordered 11 windows for my sun porch. I got a brown finish and for some reason there are 2 tabs at the bottom of each window. After a week the paint on the tabs pealed revealing that they were actually white. They ordered replacements which took 3 weeks. The tabs once again have pealed after less than a month of being replaced. I called and was told that they would reorder hoping to get some from a different batch of paint. It has now been more than a month and I haven't heard anything from them. I've called several times and had to leave a message on their answering machine, no return call. I will not recommend US Home Exteriors to any of my friends at least not the store in Burlington. I was told by the salesman that they stood behind their product, I think not. GUTTER MAGIC- not so magic... LIFETIME NO CLOG GUARANTEE or they will come and clean out - good luck.. They do work but not as high pressure sales presents. They have clogged and created waterfalls resulting in flooding in spots next to the foundation..not so good. In more than one instance created backwash that flushed into our house unbeknown to us which created mold under our flooring..really not good. WE have contacted them in the past - nothing so far - I just sent an new message to them today after all the heavy rains we have had if issues not remedied there will be more substantial damage to our house. My husband cannot climb the roof anymore we thought this would be a fix :0( read more
