Raised by a Post Office Employee I am very familiar with the system and how things get handled, and this Location has ALWAYS done a solid job of being everything the USPS Should Represent. Even during Holidays with Lake otis and the Airport helping process stuff, this location does well with the outside support and keeps it smooth and Professional. read more

The service has been great every time I've gone and I've gone a handful of times in the last couple months. Line weights are not very long at all. I love it because it's also less than a mile from my house. I've seen a lot of negative reviews, but that's from a year ago to 10 years ago. The same staff does not work there. read more

Like most post offices, you can fully expect to wait in a long line for a very simple service. Never enough workers. Or, there are enough, but one person's sole responsibility is package pick up while the other person only handles outgoing mail. The positives about this location are really friendly staff and plenty of parking. read more

I moved from Anchorage, Alaska over seven months ago. When I ordered from a merchant who I often did business with, he erroneously sent it to my old address in Anchorage. Upon seeing the error, I managed to get ahold of this post office which by the way the phone number is (907) 272-8266. I was assured after calling on two different days that it was going to be forwarded while it was en route to Alaska. Instead of it being forwarded, it gets delivered in spite of the fact I have a completed a change of address and I called this post office twice. This is severe incompetence and I think it is criminal, not to mention very frustrating. read more

Without a doubt, one of the most annoying postal experiences I have had in my entire life. Worldwide. I shipped a package via Priority Mail (the alleged great way to ship via USPS!) from Massachusetts to Anchorage for Easter, and it arrived in this post office to be delivered to my friend's office. This VIP ("very important package") was scanned in, and then just disappeared. Gone. Into thin air. Poof. Like waved adios with a magic wand.... disappeared. Several days later, I went to my own PO, they couldn't determine anything, couldn't even get anyone at this location to answer the phone during business hours (!!!), so I tried a while later. Here's how that went: I called, explained that I was looking for a package that was last scanned there and was put on hold (I should have expected that). Some other guy picked up the line, and barked out "you hung up on me!!!". I said "um, I think you meant to pick up another line since I most certainly did NOT hang up on you" and he insisted I did. Ladies and Gentlemen of Yelp, this is what you are dealing with here. Fortunately, Mr. No-Phone Skills handed off the phone to the first guy who then asked if I had sent the package to myself. Sent the package to myself??? No. Then he was looking on the hold shelf. Why would it be on the hold shelf when it should have just been delivered to an office down the street, which is open all day long? What it really comes down to is this: how do they scan something in, and then lose it? End of story: Don't use the PO to ship anything to Anchorage. Pony up the extra $$ and ship it FedEx or even get on a plane and bring it yourself. Or carrier pigeon. Bald Eagle perhaps. Anything BUT USPS, because despite their little jingle of "we deliver for you", they do NOT deliver. And if they enjoyed eating the Viennese chocolates from Boston that I sent my friend, well, that's nice. You owe me $25lb, your criminals! read more

I give 2 stars because although this is indeed a dreadful experience every single time, there's one light in this tunnel, and it's a woman by the name of Afrenda (or something like that). How she tolerates the number of people who come with their asinine questions, long, rambling stories, and frankly, the mental ill & drunks, is beyond my comprehension. You can tell she's been around the rigmarole with her dealings of the general public and she handles herself quite well. The issue with this post office as others have noted is that it's severely understaffed. You will not be in and out of this location. On average, it is at least a 20 minute wait to send a package. We wait as we have to and it seems for most people, once they get to the counter, they all of a sudden have all the time in the world. I once watched a woman hum & haw over insurance options and shipping speeds for almost 5 minutes. IT.WAS.TORTURE. I decided after today's visit that I simply can't do it anymore - I must go to another location. I was sandwiched in line between 2 women who appeared to be mentally ill. The woman to my left spoke under her breath randomly the entire 20 minutes we waited in line and the woman to my right had a conversation with herself loudly the entire 20 minutes. Mental health is not a joke, but the USPS is proving to be. read more

Let's face it folks, going to the Post Office has become one of the most dreaded things we can contemplate. This post office is no different than any other modest size office these days. They have a line out the door, 5 counters, of which only one is open. Then you always get a line full of people with a sob story and tie up the clerk who is simply counting the minutes to go home trying to search for a box of mixed nuts your aunt sent for your birthday 45 minutes ago, without a tracking number. The clerks hate their jobs, hate the customers for being there, and are powerless to magically fix all the maladies that vex the public so. I really think they could benefit from establishing TWO lines: one for JUST MAILING PACKAGES AND ENVELOPES (no talking allowed), and another line for questions, complaints, applications or ANYTHING that involves speaking. That way everyone could take turns in the silent line and simply process mail. read more

Absolutely the worst experience ever. I don't expect much from USPS as I understand that great service cost more money. But I don't understand why the staff over there simply don't care about the customers. Their body language shows they hate what they do for a living as if it is the customers' fault. On the other hand, when there is a line of people waiting, I don't understand why the others don't come out and help their coworkers. And the one up front (Joe) works extremely slow especially if there are people waiting. I think it is worth to pay more and go to fedex, dhl, or ups. They show appreciation to their customers. read more
