And these magicians at USPS manage to not to lose, break or screw up the wacky valuables I put in their handy FREE shipping boxes. They not only have boxes, if you go online you can have said boxes delivered to your door. You can also have your mailman stop by your house and pick up your packages so your cute lazy ass can stay all bundled up in the house writing yet another compelling listing. Though they aren't the solution for HUGE or super heavy items (not so good there) they are amazing and I am proud of our post office to have delivered every single item I have ever shipped with them in a timely and professional manner. FYI, the line here is sometimes too long at lunch time and near the holidays so I avoid it when possible by having my mailman come to my house. Maybe a big advertising genius needs to revamp the old "going postal" saying & put a positive yet hip spin on it??

We have never experienced such a decline in service and the simple fact that home delivery of regular mail is a thing of the past. Canby is a good place to live and offers many positive assets, however, our Post Office operations and daily delivery of regular mail is not one of them. If you want to hear the list of excuses/reasons for this, please bring your camp stool and a beverage as the stories range from bees in your mailbox to lack of employees, inclement weather, vehicle breakdowns, etc...

While to many it may seem an outmoded form of communication, boy do you miss this service when it is gone. Suddenly a quick trip while on a grocery run became more of an ordeal trekking to Oregon City. Not only the distance, but that is a very busy location in the best of times. Last month, the post office opened at this new location on the hill in the Cascade Summit shopping center. It is enormous compared to its predecessor and painted in bright orange and blue hues and everything is spacious. In the old post office, you could barely fit three customers inside (pre-COVID). One thing to get used to is the drive-up/drop-off mailbox which is in the parking lot, not connected to the building. While they offer all of the standard and expected services, it does not appear that they are passport processing center yet. While they have standard business hours in the lobby, there appears to be 24 hour access to mailboxes. Although there was a lot of drama associated with the closure of the old location and selection of this new location, I am very happy to have a post office up and running in town.
