I mailed a package from the usps and they weighed and sold me the postage. A few days later I got a notice from this post office that I needed to pay for and pick up the package for insufficient postage. Going in, the supervisor discovered the web site address was wrong and although I had to pay to reship, they waived the return fee. read more

I've been trying to contact this post office for days for a mis-delivered package! The package says it was "delivered to the garage, other door, or an alternate location at the address"... the property DOESN'T have a GARAGE! What "other door or alternate" area was it left???!!!! The package was clearly not delivered to the right address! It could have been left in the parcel locker! No one answers the phone at this Post Office, ever. It's infuriating! read more

Now that I moved away I can share thoughts on the Orleans Post Office. Supervisors are rude, lazy and ignorant of postal service options. We tried year after year to have expensive "premium forwarding" to our winter address and they never got it right. Was told "never heard of it", "don't bother" etc. After a supervisor told me there was no mail to be picked up, a letter carrier gave me a huge stack of mail that she found. Packages constantly delivered to wrong address, sometimes left on the road instead of being delivered. UGH! read more

Postal clerk was more interested in obstructing than helping. People like this should not be in customer service! MAKE IT WORK. It doesn't have to be 100000% perfect! I've been shipping professionally since 1999, I know what I'm doing! This was the tall guy with the beard, I didn't look at his name tag. This is the most gawd-awful unprofessional post office I've ever dealt with. They deliver to the wrong address routinely. If one goes to the post office to pick something up, they may eventually find it or you may wait an hour and then be told they cannot. Recently, they lost a package that had been sent to me. I was going out of town. I asked if they could return it to the sender and refund the postage if it came through. They said they would return it but not refund the postage. When I asked why, the response was, "We attempted to deliver it." I said, "You did no such thing. You put a slip in my box to come pick it up and then you lost it. I've wasted more than an hour." Only in a post office fantasy is that attempting delivery. I've seen them lock the door in people's faces when it was one or two minutes until 5:00. Most of the people who work there are pleasant most of the time. They're just inept and don't really give a rip. This is all too true of the post office in general these days. Particularly since DeJoy was put in charge. Seems to get worse and worse. But this particular station is the worst of the worst. Missing delivery days and having packages float around in their "system" is the norm. Today they out did themselves. The mail person took the trouble to put down the red outgoing flag on my mailbox but couldnt be bothered to take the mail. He did manage to deliver the advertising junk mail. The outgoing had been sitting there since Monday. Ive never seen an organization go downhill as fast as the US Postal Service. Totally unreliable. Anything of importance we send UPS now. This is the slowest, most unprofessional post office I have ever used, and unfortunately I had to deal with them on a regular basis for the past decade. Don't plan on ever spending under 30 minutes here. The line is always long, and it takes forever to get through it. Fingers crossed that you're in the right line to begin with, or you'll have to start all over! I lived on Lake Samish for 10 years, and moved away a few months ago. The mail for 98229 is processed and delivered by the Mount Baker Station (Orleans/Sunset USPS branch). The rural carrier who delivered the mail to my neighborhood was not only completely inept (I constantly received mail for my neighbors, and twice received mail for someone on the other end of the lake!), but lazy and passive aggressive. I honestly often felt held hostage by her unwillingness to deliver my mail/packages properly.  She would deliver my packages to my uncovered steps every single time. Never mind that they were in FULL view of the street, and it would have taken nearly no extra effort to put them on my deck, just on the other side of my railing, where they wouldn't be seen. More importantly, just putting them on my deck (like an extra foot away from where she was leaving them), even if still left in full view of the street, would have at least had them under cover. Instead, I came home to packages that were almost always completely soaked through. I travel for work, so I would painstakingly set up mail hold for the dates I would be gone, as well as the date I would return and needed the packages and mail delivered. Sometimes I was only home for one day before leaving again, so I really did need them delivered on the day specified. Not only did she almost always deliver on the first day I was gone, so my mail/packages for that day would sit there unattended for sometimes weeks before I returned, but she would almost never deliver on my return date, and it would sometimes be a day or two later before she bothered. One time, instead of setting up a mail hold, I asked my friend who lives in Blaine (up to 45 minutes away, each direction!) to pick up my mail for me. He showed up, and instead found a note inside the mailbox saying she had taken away all my mail and packages, and they would have to be retrieved from the post office by a certain date, or would instead be returned to sender! Not only did my friend waste the trip, his gas, and his time to pick up my mail, but he couldn't even go get it for me from the post office because he wasn't on file as having permission to do so. Add to all that, there was a good chance I wasn't even going to make it back in time for her deadline. I was livid!  I have to believe that they refused to even punish her, let alone fire her as she they should have, or else something might have changed. I even filed a complaint against her with the Postmaster General, and nothing changed. Luckily, it was shortly after that when I finally moved away, so I thought I wouldn't have to deal with her again.  Recently, I placed an order for something online, but somehow the default address for delivery got changed back to my old Lake Samish address. It processed before I could have it corrected. The tracking info said it was UPS, so I unsuccessfully tried to make arrangements to pick it up with them. The last step, however, was for them to transfer it to USPS for delivery. I was a bit relieved, because any mail I had not successfully changed to my new address was set to be forwarded to me anyway, so I thought it was safe.  Nope! It went out for delivery. I called Mount Baker Station directly, and sat on hold for a literal HOUR before someone took my call. I told her what happened, and asked her to call the carrier. She said "Don't worry. The carrier knows your mail is being forwarded, and she won't deliver it. But just in case, I will call her." I said "When I lived there, she was not very conscientious about such things, so I really would appreciate it if you did call her." She rudely snapped that she would, and we hung up.  Next thing I know? Package DELIVERED!  So I called back. I spent an hour calling, and having the call disconnected on the other end. Over and over and over again. Finally, someone picked up the call and put it directly on hold. Fine. I waited. For almost another hour before... they picked up the line and hung up the phone!!! Unacceptable!  This post office is a disgrace. The way the mail carrier for Lake Samish performs her job duties is tantamount to mail tampering. I don't know how her behavior, and the apathy of the post office who employs her, can even be legal. Not that it will do any good, but I will be filing another complaint with the Postmaster General.  By the way? I sent my friend from Blaine to go retrieve my package the very next day. Luckily, the new resident was home and answered the door. And guess what? She had opened it! What the hell, anyway?!?! read more

I'm always worried about visiting any US post offices, as they're notorious for being institutions of inefficiency, resulting in enormous frustrations in customers waiting in long, un-moving lines, and subsequent melt-downs (hence the term "going postal"). The pent-up anger in these places is real, people, and I try to avoid them whenever possible. I couldn't avoid it, recently, having some packages to mail out in the US. So I ventured here mid-day on a Wednesday. Right away, my husband and I noticed that this building is HUMONGOUS. And the parking lot is huge, too. Truly one of the largest post offices ever. Walking inside, the place felt cavernous. The half of the building to the left was devoted to post office boxes, it seemed, and nobody was there. I veered to the right, where the counter was and a few customers getting stamps and mailing out parcels. There was only one person in front of me in line - and she told me to go in front of her. (That has NEVER happened to me before! She said she was waiting to talk to a specific clerk). So I walked right up to the counter and was greeted by the nicest post office clerk ever! (Darn, I wish I had taken note of her name). We chatted a bit and I got my mailing business done SO FAST. I was outta there in five minutes or less, and the whole experience was so pleasant. The Post Office did an amazing job helping me. Josh was great and very helpful sorting out my passport renewal information. He made the whole process much smoother. Dropped two bubble mailers in the package bin. One started tracking after a few hours and was delivered today, the other is still not tracking. Now the buyer can cancel the order. Opened a case with the post office and the call I received was not helpful. Will not be returning here. read more

I had to pick up some mail that was too big for my box. It turned out it was too big for me. Amazon had sent it, so that I had to pick it up from the post office -and it was a storage cabinet! This post office was great. The man working the counter said, "You're not going to be able to carry this, so let me get you a handtruck." I got two big boxes, out and he just trusted me leave the handtruck outside his door. What a gentleman. My only confusion with this USPO is that Google maps seems to think I can drive in through a warehouse. You must enter off of Orleans Street. I'm enclosing a map. Follow the red line. My husband and I have actually considered moving just to not have to deal with this post office anymore. The delivery side is hit or miss. Several packages have been delivered to our neighbor's mailboxes or have disappeared completely. Often no attempt to deliver is made at all, and I receive a slip while I am sitting at home. Once the entire bank of mailboxes was left unlocked and swinging open. Going to pick up a package is an even worse experience. Sometimes they are unable to find the package they have left the slip for. Hopefully, you know which line to stand in, because they won't hang a sign or let you know they won't be helping you until you've already wasted your time going through the main line. Incredibly poor customer service. Slow and often rude. They seem to have no desire to improve the experience for anyone. Good luck. read more

Tried to stop in to pick up a package that they said they tried to deliver, we were home all day and no one knocked on the door, at 5:15. They list special hours on their website that they're open until 6 for this week. Perfect. Except I get there and the first woman I walk up to and tell I'm there to pick up a package her response is "I'm counting my drawer so..." ok? The guy behind her says "yeah we're closed" snottily. The third woman chimes in and says "you'll have to come back tomorrow" cool. So none of you know your own business hours and have zero customer service skills between the three of you. Not surprised you're working the counter at the post office then. First, learn your own hours. Second, maybe learn how to talk to people with some kind of decency. read more

Like every post office in the world, the line up was almost to the door. But the service was excellent. This post office looks a little out dated and could do with a little renovations. The prices are beyond good. A parcel to New Jersey was $3.75 with tracking. I don't mean to throw shade but Canada Post cannot even offer shipping from East Vancouver to downtown for that price. My business really relies on the USPS and lately the packages and mail are really lingering. Sometimes we dont work days because of this it is really starting to effect us. Getting customers to pay on time is one issue and when they finally do we have a major issue with receiving the checks It is getting unbearable. I guess we will continue to wait. read more

Super busy, i think we need another post office that is open on Saturday, stood in line for over 10 minutes only 2 people working. One staff member was polite and appologized for the wait. Good variety of postal supplies, cards, gift cards and everything looked clean. There is a little kids table area for children however i didn't see any activities around it so bring their coloring book. read more

The staff here are extremely arrogant and not helpful. They have zero care for their customers. They have lost multiple packages of mine, arrogantly claiming they were delivered. Then about a month later I receive a package with a "delivered to wrong address" sticker on top. read more

Since the Bellingham post office often refuses to deliver packages that are completely deliverable when I am home, I have to go here to pick up my packages. It is so crowded and a chaotic here that during a pandemic I would describe it as a dangerous. This has been hands down the worst post office to communicate and work with. I received a confirmation that delivery was attempted but that there was no access to the building. It was unlocked and I was inside two hours prior to the supposed attempt. I call to try and get some answers with no real help. USPS, when you have a package to sign for...will not knock on your door. No biggie, right? Just reschedule and be there when they come back. Well, I rescheduled, but no delivery attempt was made...so I did it again...again, nothing. I called and was promptly told by the supervisor, "We always knock! You just didn't answer." Ehm...I was here all day, no one knocked. Now, my package, from Japan, a birthday gift, is going back...I try one last time to reschedule and get asked, "Why can't you just come in?" A. None of your business why, it's your job to uphold redelivery requests. B. The customer may not always be right, but when you insist on not taking your part of the blame... Terrible. Sadly, I am trapped using their services because I can't move. I only give a single star because if you do go in, they're generally nice...but lord help you if you actually want your stuff delivered. read more

The absolute worst experience with any post office location I've encountered ever and I've lived in several states on both coasts of the United States and never have I experienced such poor, substandard, unprofessional service . After numerous attempts to advise of numerous delivery issues, from undelivered and/or retuned packages stating "refused by recipient" & sent back to shipper, (which was completely untrue), call to schedule redelivery, or to check to see if they were holding packages that they were supposed to deliver but in fact never had even attempted, my calls went unanswered day after day. Apparently the postal delivery workers felt it did not warrant a less than 1 minute drive to deliver the specific item/s to my doorstep but rather chose their easiest option which would be to take the item back to post office and either hold it there for god only knows why because no one ever answers the phone so I don't know how anyone could reschedule a redelivery or they would simply return to the shipper stating the package was refused by the recipient which was A TOTAL COMPLETE LIE!! It's hit and miss if a package will actually get delivered to you if you reside in an apartment complex with small mailboxes obviously too small to deliver most packages & 95% of the time when this does happen you will not get your packages and you will have to go to the post office and wait to pick up your items yourself. Even if they do leave a notice in your mailbox saying "mailbox full" or "item too large" or whatever they decide to check off on the slip at the time they are filling out the slip, good luck trying to call to schedule for redelivery because it's a joke because no one yet has answered one phone call that I've made and I've called every day hanging up and redialing, over and over again too many times to count. Only when I called the 1800275USPS number and waiting on hold for over an hour and a half and filed a formal complaint with the USPS , not once but 3 times did I finally start getting some resolution to my delivery issues but I imagine that it won't be long before things will slide back into old ways and my packages will be once again undelivered and returned to the shipper and when I call my calls will go unanswered. And they wonder why we complain when they want to raise prices for stamps & mailing letters and packages then they provide us with this kind of substandard unreliable unprofessional service. Whenever I send anything I send it either Fed/Ex or UPS at least they deliver what they promise! DELIVER being the key word! read more

First I waited in the regular line, for a normal amount of time at this time of year, and when I was next in line for a teller, I was then told that I was in the wrong line for picking up packages. I then had to go wait in a separate line, that was for people who ONLY had package pick ups (in other words, weren't spending any money) and waited another 30 minutes. There was NO sign directing people to the correct lines. When I pointed this out to Gail, one of the tellers, she very rudely replied that it wasn't up to her, and that I should take it up with the manager. No apologies, also, I'm assuming they do not have the ability to pick up a marker and make a sign on a piece of paper. There is no logic here. read more

Three locals have contacted me thanking me for writing this review because they've had their own issues with this location but feel too timid to write a review because it is a government agency and they have to deal with this post office on a regular basis. I am just relieved I do not since I moved a year ago (I suppose knowing I was moving gave me the voice necessary to vocalize the various issues) but was reminded by the blatant incompetence of this office when another patron emailed me. I've needed to go to this post office many times and always left pretty frustrated. The employees are nice but frequently uninformed or unable to help. I usually wait 30 mins just to get to the front of the line. There are two lines for different services, but they are not marked or labeled, so unless you have been there before you don't know which line to go to. read more

Seriously, just go to UPS or FedEx before you go here. I showed up just after closing tonight because I wanted to use the after hours drop box for a shipment that was all ready to go with a pre-purchased label. Unfortunately, their drop box was broken. No problem, I thought. There was still one customer being helped in the lobby, which was locked. I waited patiently outside the door (without any of the annoying things most people do, such as toe tapping, waving, knocking, or staring in like a lost puppy). I figured they wouldn't mind if I left the box with them for the next day's mail since it would not be a transaction for them and they had to go unlock the door anyway to let other guy out. Nope, I was wrong. Apparently this is a taboo. Before I could say a word, a younger plainclothes employee with a surly look on his face defensively told me "We are closed. We know the drop box isn't working. We won't take your package because we ARE closed. You can take it downtown and see if their drop box can take it." Not, "Hi, I'm Supervisor XXXX. Sorry, we'd like to take your package, but we can't because of XXXX." That I would have understood. But the response from this guy was deliberately apathetic. It was a very thinly veiled way of saying, "I don't have to help you and I won't, so there." It would have taken him less time to toss my box into a sorting bin than to turn me away. So my advice would be to avoid this location if possible. If this guy is indeed some sort of supervisor, then I am sure his employees probably suffer from awful morale due to the same attitude, which will likely trickle down and sour your USPS experience at the counter. read more

Although the counter staff is usually very friendly, I have had several unsatisfactory dealings with behind-the-scenes staff. Worst of all, they never answer the phone when I call the station for information or problems. I've called dozens of times over many years, and only one time did anyone answer the phone. Not only that, but the phone will ring and ring and ring and then hang up on you. One time, I called repeatedly and at one point, my call just wouldn't go through even to ring. I've reported this to the main postal service number, but nothing has changed. I've also reported that this station's phone number is listed incorrectly in the phone book, but they haven't changed that either. It seems they don't want to take phone calls at all. On one occasion, they couldn't find my Held items and said the carrier delivered them, even though I checked the box for me to pick them up. Since I have a problem with mail theft in my neighborhood, I had to cancel other errands to quickly drive home to make sure all my held mail was still there. It wasn't. I tried calling the post office, but of course they wouldn't answer, so I had to drive all the way back to tell them it wasn't there - that it was stolen. I was in tears. One of the counter staff saw how upset I was and went to the back on his own and was able to find my mail. It had never left the station. The supervisors or whoever works in the back are incompetent and irresponsible. read more
