She had to ask a co-worker. 2. Why does Chelan, WA 98816 have no drive-by box to drop off outgoing mail? Nor does the Chelan, WA 98816 USPS have any ADA/handicapped parking spots! I am disabled. It is a major chore to find any spot, let alone a handicap parking spot. Come on USPS! You charge us tons to mail 1 letter. Just for fun, I pulled up USPS.com to see what it would cost. $5.25 for 2-day insured, alerts and trackable - and they even provide a free small box to send it in. Took just a few minutes to register an account and print my pre-paid label. I give their web site 5-stars - you can do just about everything here. Then I took my return item and prepaid label down to our Chelan Post Office. Even though the shipping box would be free, I was told to bring my own strapping tape, because they sell that. When I got to the office, the postmaster saw me waiting, opened another window. He took my label, folded together the flat cardboard box, inserted my return stuff, sealed the box, and even offered to attach the label for me. This is the Post Office- folks. 5-stars for the web site. 5 stars for customer service at Chelan P.O. Maybe there is hope for USPS after all - this is a Big Step in the right direction. I know I know...drive another 22 miles after hitting a deer? Yeah, well it was my first accident since I started driving and I knew that I wouldn't be able to get roadside assistance so I wanted to get to a somewhat big city. I had been to the nearby Coulee Dam and Grand Coulee, which aren't big, but I could at least stay the night there. Anyway, about the post office, it's really small but generally cute for this small town. There is no APC, just old brick and mortar postal customer service and 24 hour post office access. One more post office to cross off my list. I'll never forget it.

This was my last city to visit in the hope of travelling to all the cities in Washington and not…read moreonly was it a beautiful and enjoyable journey riding on the Lady of the Lake Express up to Stehekin for approximately two and a half hours, Stehekin is a quaint little community of folks that are just doing their best to get by in the great outdoors near the North Cascades. This is a very remote community and you can only reach it by ferry, boatplane or a very very long hike. Anyway, you are greated by the parks service rangers when you reach the dock and it you take a short 3-5 minute walk down the road going North you'll see this quaint little post office perched up on the hill. I believe this post office was on the verge of extinction recently due to it's remote location but it was voted to be kept open for a little while longer. The exterior is designed to weather the elements and there are windows cut out so the postal workers and peer out and watch the transient hikers and passersby as well as the locals and the gorgeous Lake Chelan close by. Take a picture in front of the office or the "Welcome to Stehekin" sign to mark that you've been there since most people probably aren't going to make a trek up here other than hiking or to just have a short stay in a cabin or boating.

One example of this is getting charged $23 for a package that weighed 1.2 pounds because they rounded up to 2 pounds. They also charge me for Priority mail when I specifically asked for the cheapest shipping method possible. I checked and the same package is only $13 at the Ironwood Street USPS Post Office. I've included a photo of the receipt proving how I got overcharged. I will NEVER ship with this company again.

We used Betta to ship a package to our son in Wichita via UPS…read more Unfortunately, the package was not delivered but returned despite alternate arrangements being made for a 2nd delivery attempt. UPS dropped the ball but Betta took it upon herself to have the package intercepted and returned to Wichita. She went above and beyond, and the great customer service is very much appreciated.
