This post office refuses to buzz your apartment to open the door for them. My package has been attempted for "redelivery" for over a week now, and I've been home every day, and nothing. We've left notes on the front door and they either refuse to read them or are lying about redelivery. I try calling constantly and it either rings forever, or they hang up. This is the worst US post office I have had to deal with in 30+ years. Going to the branch itself is a nightmare - never enough counter people, and the ones there are very slow and rude. Lines are long and you can always expect to be there for a minimum of one hour. Beyond that, their delivery service of parcels to your home address is horrendous. In the past year and a half that I have lived at my current address, packages that have tracked on their website as "out for delivery" have been delivered late upwards of 30 times, averaging out to over twice a month. They update their online tracking by showing that they attempted delivery but had no access to the building. Thus is a blatant lie as I work from home and have been in my apartment waiting for those deliveries every single one of those "attempted" instances. Nobody ever rang my buzzer to access entry into the building, so it is obvious that the carrier simply did not complete their route but wanted to cover their behind by blaming the recipient of the parcel for not being there to allow building access. I am less peeved about packages being delivered a day or two late (although the frequency of this is unacceptable) than I am infuriated by the prevarication concerning "attempted delivery - unable to access building". Numerous complaints to customer service yield only a stock template apologetic response but never any corrective action. Unfortunately there is not much that can be done as most of the time I do not have the option to select a shipping method for online purchases. On top of that USPS (or at least this particular branch) simply does not give a rat's butt about or have any incentive to improve their services. read more

You should be able to give negative stars for this location. The levels of incompetence are paramount and growing, and it makes no sense. I have no problem with my carrier, it's always the actual, physical Post Office. I have had packages lost, damaged, and delayed. --If two pre-paid, return labels are confusing, it is best to let the customer know in a calm tone, instead of bringing your fellow postal worker over from her window to add her non-sensical two cents in. The peanut gallery co-signing your daft line of thought, not helping. --If I ask "Hey can you just cross the other one out with a marker? You say "no" and proceed to cross out other labels on the same box with a red marker...how does that work, in your brain, as a person...with a brain? How? --If I comply, and fold the other label underneath the other label (to quell any alleged "Confusion") it's probably best that your co-worker (yes, the same one that felt the need to "tag-in" from before) doesn't physically demonstrate "how the machine will deal with an unsecured label" by ripping my label in half, off my package, right? NONE of the employees here wear masks!!! Is that even legal right now??? Beside that, like everyone else is saying, the lines here are insanely long and move very slow. While waiting in line, I heard the staff fighting with each other in the back room, and then saw an argument between a worker and a customer. It was entertaining, but very unsettling to know these people are handling my mail. Basically our mail is on a truck in some form of mail purgatory. What's the point of sending things via priority or certified mail if we don't even receive them. Change your carrier of preference settings on amazon to anyone else but USPS (they can do this). Call your Congress member! Get angry!!! Not sure if this post office is worse than the post office at Debevoise. I've lived in brooklyn 5 years now. You can read my review of the Debevoise location 4 years ago. Not much has changed. It's still absolutely unacceptable. And the Broadway post office is basically the same, awful. They rarely if ever leave a "delivery attempted" slip. They don't consistently attempt to deliver. The hours I've spent in line, on hold, because they can't seem to do their job are many. Recently they closed a case where they lost merchandise that I still have not got refunded by the sender. They know it was here at their post office and then it vanished. Right now I'm tracking a package worth $250 that according to tracking has been on the truck for 4 days. Makes me think it's probably lost like 3 other separate packages they seem to have lost in the last few months. Those packages total to about $400 worth. And those don't all have tracking numbers. So probably lost. Try this the next time you go and stand in line forever at the Broadway location. Since they didn't give a slip. Tell them your address/name but don't give them a tracking number. They will tell you they don't have it. Then you tell them the tracking number and then surprise, sometimes they actually do have it. Other times the tracking number says it's there, but who knows. I don't know if they even check half the time. The last case that they lost my package I will say the lady on the phone was very nice. And I will say the people on the National call center are at least civil and polite although worthless considering it's the employees here in Brooklyn that are the problem. I've lived a lot of places, never had issues with mail. But here, the USPS employees at the post office can be extremely rude, unhelpful and full of contempt for you. They're so sick of the endless line of people wondering where the hell is their package. They could not give less of a shit that the carriers don't seem to have a grip on the concept of delivering. They just want to go on break. I am going to make my life better and not ship anything through USPS to my apt ever again in bedstuy/bushwick. At least not anything important or of value. They don't know where the packages go and they could not care less. It's easier for them to not attempt to deliver, just go back on a truck and go back to where it came from. "We're trying to raise ourselves up and you're trying to pull us back down" I happened to glance at my yelp profile today and saw how many years I'd been yelping, and looked back at the review of the first business that caused me so much rage I had to vent it out via Yelp. The post office. I thought about that incident and how things have changed and how things have stayed the same. Back then, when the post office employee was giving me a hard time and making prejudiced remarks to me, one of the people in line shouted out the above quote to her in my defense. In other words, we in this neighborhood are trying to progress, and you (the post office employees) are harming us by being ignorant and divisive. Over a decade ago when I lived in Bed-Stuy, I canvassed the neighborhood for Obama (not as part of the paid outreach). I was moved to do so after visiting this post office, in the former neighborhood of Shirley Chisholm, and noticing that they had NO voter registration cards available and refused to get some. My mom upstate sent me a package of voter registration cards that she got from the counter at their more affluent post office, where there were plenty. I walked around the entire neighborhood in my spare time with registration cards, and only encountered one young man by Marcy who had not registered because he "didn't think one vote would matter". His friends that were too young to vote persuaded him to register. But my point is that everyone else (and I went through blocks and blocks of people) was already prepared to make their voice heard no matter what. I recall how my car was ticketed multiple times a day for a days late inspection, with tickets placed directly over the Obama HOPE sign I had on the passenger dashboard. And I remember the excitement on voting day, kids dancing around on the side of the street with "Don't forget to vote!" signs. The parties later, people shouting and crying with joy when the numbers came in. My best memory of the day was at the school when we were voting, how crowded it was and how silent, with not one person complaining about the line. One grey haired black woman in her 90's or so was wheeled in by her grandkids, or great-grandkids. She tried to stand up and they tried to make her sit back in the wheelchair. She was having none of it, and slapped their hands away. Slowly and painfully she struggled, inch by inch, to stand. And she walked. Just like something out of an old time tent revival, she got up out of her wheelchair and walked very very slowly and shakily with her cane to the voting booth, trying to hold her head up as high as she could. Not one person told her to hurry up. Several people watched with poignant tears in their eyes. It was a beautiful moment in time that I will not forget. Back in 2008, we had so much hope, all of us in the neighborhood, black, white, native, "gentrifiers", tourists, we all gathered together in joy and support of our community and our city and country. We were excited at a new dawn that would come for us, where everything would be as it should be. The haters had no place here. Now we have a "us vs them" attitude, "I can't talk to you if you do not share the exact same views as me, if you don't look like me, if you were not born in this city, this country". The haters have taken over and exploited differences to cause conflict. To go off on a side rant for a bit, I remember going to landlord tenant court for issues in my building and being told "well that's the big city life in New York City" by a judge who's most likely never had a roach crawl over her face when she was sleeping, or lacked hot water for a shower in the morning, or many of the other things we have to put up with that city agencies fail to follow through on when you are part of a neighborhood that houses a lower socioeconomic class. The inference was that I'm a "transplant", so I am not a "real" New Yorker and if I can't hack it I should just leave. I am a real New Yorker when I am paying a big chunk of my paycheck to NYC to cover expenses at city agencies like NYPD and HPD and tenant court though. It's sad to me that, as I'm sitting here writing as I wait for yet another HPD inspection, that so many things in city and federal government that effect us on a day to day basis have not changed at all. How many complaints has this post office had with no result? How many times have we asked for changes in the city services we receive? I guess I wish that we had the unity and solidarity that we had in 2008 again. (Well at least we're united in our opinions of the service at this post office). But seriously, it's time for a new dawn again, it's time for us to work together to make things better. And that starts with voting, not just for a president, but for mayor and judges and all the other smaller officials that can either help raise us ALL up, or keep us down. It wasn't exactly this post office's fault, but USPS had notified me that the package i was receiving had an insufficient address, (I bought something through eBay,) and so they were returning it to sender. This sucked but I immediately called their help number. I had to speak to a robot for an hour before I finally figured out how I can speak to a real representative/agent on their end. I was on hold for 20-30 min and the agent gave me a case number and said they'd send a message to the post office to let them know to keep my package on hold so that we can resolve this. I then called again the next morning and I was on hold for 30 minutes and they told me my package was at their 1369 Broadway location and they honestly just reread what I had done in the previous call. I then went to the post office myself and it was relatively empty; it was a Friday. An employee asked if I needed help and I gave her my case number and a rundown of what was going on. She went elsewhere and came back around 10-20 minutes later with my package. I confirmed it was mine and she asked for ID before she handed me my package and left. A few minutes later a supervisor called me about my package. It had almost been sent back but I picked it up before it did. All in all, this post office was decent, USPS customer service is nice, (when you speak to a real person,) but as an actual delivery service it's terrible. read more

I'm not sure the people who work here realize that tampering with mail is a federal offense. I had a package that was insured for $400 dollars and after supposedly trying to deliver it, I was left a notice to pick it up. Somehow the people in the post office could not find it and all they told me was "it disappeared, this happens sometimes." I went back repeatedly, spoke to numerous employees on the phone, and in return I was patronized and told to just file a claim. If so many people are having the same problem, it is clear that these packages are not just "going missing." Those incompetent employees are getting a nice payout stealing all the packages they please. This post office needs to be shut down and the employees who work here need to be investigated. I really need Yelp to add options to the star ratings because there are times when ZERO STARS is the most appropriate rating!!! I personally would love to give a -0 rating but I guess that's asking a bit too much!!! Anyway, I guess by now you know what my rating is for this business huh??? Why????? Well...I'll tell you: Simply speaking, this place SUX!!!!! They have HORRIBLE customer service! They never have your package even though you've received a notice telling you to come pick it up!!! IF you must go please know the lines are always long, alllllllll the time so prepare yourself for the wait and here are a few tips to help get you through: 1) Wear Depends. You never know when you might need to go potty but remember number 2's are not allowed-so hold that! 2) Bring snacks and something to drink! Trust me, you could wind up being there all day and since you can clearly see McDonalds right across the street you'll only torture yourself! 3) Bring some music it will help distract you from the ratchet customer conversations you'll hear, arguments with Post Office staff, moanings and groanings from other customers and the pain you'll feel from standing so long. Please make sure you have headphones - no one else should be forced to listen to your music. 4) Imagine that you're at the opening of a hot club and you'll do anything to get inside. By far THE WORST experience I had in the post office... Even when I am home (with a tiny infant) they NEVER bring the package up. This one lady today even got at it with me over the buzzer system. She refused to bring the package up and by the time I secured a baby and got downstairs (I wanted my package more than I wanted to prove my point) within 2-3 minutes - she was gone. Even though this terrible experience happened today - this is not the first time and it happens quite regularly. Already TWICE when I went there with the notice they couldn't find it and told me to come back another day... really? First, you refuse to bring my package up and then even when I make the effort to come and get it - you can't find it???? Even within the office - the lines are long and they often are rude with you. There is only one lady there that is civil and I need to make sure I get her name to give justice to her decent customer service. Everyone else just barks at you. I hate their service and I am glad I'll be moving soon so I don't have to deal with them again. Not that this place needs one more terrible review, but: If you live in the area, and miss your package, you are in for a terrible experience. There are two underlying reasons why this location is so ridiculously, hilariously bad: 1) this USPS location is in the hood. It's my hood - the neighborhood I love and call home - but all the same, it's hood. This gives USPS higher ups the sense that they can totally ignore the chaos and incompetence at this location. The location is understaffed and under-resourced, and there is nothing the employees there can do about that. 2) the employees there hate their lives, hate their jobs, and instead of having a can-do attitude about their jobs, they have totally given up. As in, have no pride or sense of ownership in what they are doing. None. Overall, a USPS branch like this has two main jobs. This branch fails miserably at both of them: Job 1) take in packages that were not able to be left at the recipient's address, and organize them in the backroom in such a way that they can be efficiently retrieved later. Sure, there are some tricky parts of this, but it's not rocket science. Stack the boxes neat, by address or alphabetical or whatever. Right? Job 2) Efficiently process people who come up to the counter to retrieve their packages. There is a total failure here because employees repeatedly get into long drawn out arguments with people. Some of these customer issues are warranted (i.e. why can't you find my package that USPS.com tracking says is here for pickup?). Many, however, are not warranted (i.e. a crazy person who wants to be a pain and complain about problems that cannot be solved at the USPS branch office). Instead of efficiently directing these people to USPS.com, or giving them a supervisor's number, the staff here gets into drawn out arguments. You combine these two failures, and that is why there is a wait of several hours pretty much all day every day. What a crazy microcosm of socioeconomics, workplace dynamics and organizational failure. Even though I have wasted many many precious hours here, I still find it hilarious. Buh, changing this. This place is a joke of an establishment, and an embarrassment to USPS. I sell online for a living, so I have spent a lot of time in post offices, and you, Bushwick, are THE. WORST. Let's break it down for the people, shall we? First, you smell like pee. Always. And plenty of hoodrats, homeless people and general skeezes hang out infront of and inside of your place of business. But then again, I live in Bushwick, so what else can I expect? Second, either hire more people or make the ones sitting around in the back actually work. When there is a line of 20 people, it's not the time to walk away from the window and stick your thumb up your ass for 45 minutes. Your job sucks, but you are getting paid WAY MORE than you deserve to do it, so put on your big-kid pants and DO YOUR JOB. Third, be polite. Yeah, a smile and hello would be a nice way to end the ridiculous 40 minute wait at 1pm on a Tuesday. Fourth, when you have a line of 25 people with maybe 1 or 2 of them just looking for a money order or to pick up DO NOT make a line specifically for people who just want a money order or to pick up. THAT'S THE STUPIDEST SHIT I HAVE EVER HEARD. No reason to close off an entire window for the old latina woman who needs her back pills (cute as she may be). Fifth, keep track of people. If someone needs a package, don't send them away and tell them to come back, have them move to the side to slide back over when they're done. Why? Because most people are idiots and don't comprehend how to form a line, so they see one guy who has to put his name on a box and think he is the magic short line that only certain people get to be apart of and moves really fast so they hop next to him and cut off 12 annoyed customers who are just trying to ship something to their Dad. Sixth, don't lie to me. Don't tell me you are out of stamps at a post office because you're too lazy to walk over to another station to pick one up. I'm not a moron, I was not born yesterday and I will argue with you until you give them to me. Seventh, whoever your carriers are suck BALLS. Immediately upon entering the other day I was met by some dude leaving, screaming at the top of his lungs, "I'M 'BOUT TO GO POSTAL." Kinda sums this place up. This has been my Post Office for three years. I tend to get my packages delivered to my work address in the city because this place is so horrendous. But, if it's a small parcel/envelope, I'm usually safe and it will fit in my mailbox. Obviously I don't learn from my mistakes, but whatever. I got the dreaded peach slip that said my package would be available for pick-up, so I braved it on my day off and went in to wait in everyone's favorite line aka camping spot aka I need a tent does anyone have one I can borrow Surprisingly, there were only ten people in front of me. Out of the ten, only one of them left with a package. Seriously. Nine out of ten were sent away empty-handed. All of them asked where their packages were. All of them were told, "I don't know. It's not here." Well, I guess that's ten out of eleven if you include me, but yeah, that's cool I guess. Articles that pass through this post office enter some form of purgatory/Bardo. Receiving mail My building has 4 mailboxes. The on-the-ground delivery person usually jams mail haphazardly into one of the boxes with what I assume is the thought that it may or may not go to the correct box a 1/4 of the time. Typically they choose the same box over and over again to the point where it is so stuffed I'm actually unable to remove anything. Also, it really helps that they leave the mailbox open so that any mail will get completely soaked on a rainy day. Not receiving packages The pink 'Sorry we missed you!' slips are complete lies. I have had one out of ~50 packages delivered or even attempted to be delivered while living here for the last two and a half years. Over and over I've seen them deliver mail with package notices already prepared, no "delivery attempt" made whatsoever. Sometimes they are nice enough to put said notices in the correct mailbox, but usually they are crammed into the bottom of another and go unseen for several days until I climb on top of my railing and inspect them. The post office itself Rarely do I come in and have a short wait. I am just returning from a 40 minute excursion to this hellhole, waiting in line behind 5 people retrieving packages. I've waited anywhere from 5 minutes to 90 and have yet to figure out any sort of system or logic into approximating my wait upon arrival. Average customer interactions should not take 8 minutes if they're handing over an official document that stating 'my package is here, please let me have it'. Don't expect them to have USPS flat rate packaging, certain customs forms or even stamps. The guy with the glasses and mustache who may or may not be one of the managers seems like a terrible person with absolutely zero social or customer service skills. I have seen him yelling at and berating customers and flat out refusing to actually help anyone. Today I witnessed him bring a young woman to tears. One improvement I've noticed over the last few years of coming here has been that it is less frequently littered with trash. read more

ALL ZERO's, I Wish I could give " NO STARS. " POST OFFICE, PLEASE GIVE YEARLY EYE EXAMS TO ALL MAIL DELIVERY CARRIERS." Write them up if the workers are not wearing the prescription glasses to daily do their jobs properly. Since January 2015, I do not know what happened to our mail MAN's EYES. Daily incorrect & wrong mail for months. This is the worst visionary mistakes that I have ever witnessed. I was missing so many important bills over 12 with numerous late fees. I'm also getting mail that belongs to other blocks far away. All the old returnable mail from families that have moved away 3 yrs. ago I still get. But where's my mail?? I did address this to the carrier & spoke to him very nicely about the problem, not wanting to report it. It got worst & he said if I had a problem CALL IT IN. How can you do this if no one " NEVER, EVER ANSWERS THE PHONE." 2 mail casual replacement ladies will leave your mail " ON THE GROUND." We also found mail last year buried UNDER THE SNOW, ON OUR STEPS. By passing all mail boxes. We asked her " WHY NOT USE OUR BOXES. She has the nerve to say " WAS IT RUBBERBAND or NOT." What nerve!! I just would like everyone to know, packages are delivered & LEFT OUT SIDE ON THE STEPS in a VERY DRUGED, HIGH CRIMED Neighborhood. Gee Thanks !!! This has happened so many times its unbelievable. But my 2 packages, 1 broken into was found after 3:00 AM on our steps this Saturday morning 12/12/15, by my son who works nights & comes in at this time. What saved everything from being stolen are the 2 security cameras installed outside. The cameras were rolled back to see. A female evening USPS Package deliverer on Friday 12/11/15 at 10 PM was seen leaving the boxes outside & took off. Never ringing the bell or knocking on the doors or windows. We prefer to pickup our packages no matter how long the lines are for safety reasons. When you want to do this they don't leave a slip. When they leave the slip it takes over 2 hours at this location to get anything. At one point we just stopped ordering and brought stamps by mail only. For over a decade this has been the worst office on earth. Its so very sad because the neighborhood is slowly changing. We have put in a few reports & complaints. NO ONE CARES. The supervisors are on the workers side and are annoyed with the customers. Go figure a backwards world. One driver stated to his office packages were delivered by scanning them. A month later the post office still had the boxes in their office but believed this deceitful worker. The supervisor should have been embarrassed, "NOT AT ALL, SHE WAS RUDE, NASTY & JUST DID NOT CARE." In the future I hope they replace everyone. A ROBOT would do a better job & would be more nicer & friendlier. We are holiday tippers, this year is GONE. read more

This is the worst post office I have ever encountered. The people who work here are so unprofessional. This one lady was yelling at me in slangs and was so ratchet. The office really needs to reconsider the type of people they hire. This office lost my ID, and no one even tried to help me. The office is also located in a very shady area. USPS needs a more stringent hiring process. Please hire people who can speak proper english and not slangs. Please hire people who are polite and caring. This is the worst post office in the US, and you really have to try very hard to standout as a post office these days, so congratulations. Employees are lazy and contemptuous of customers and basically just sit around in the back only coming to the window when they feel like it. The best was when our idiot postman left textbooks in the parcel locker outside my apartment but didn't leave the key to the locker in my mailbox. I went down to the post office and explained what happened, and the guy on duty called the carrier and said he'd already passed my house for the day, but told me when he got a minute he would come out personally to the mailbox and open it. Well, long story short, he kept callin gme back and saying he was "busy" but would be coming in an hour. About six hours later the day was almost over and nobody had come, so I finally called him back (they try to be sneaky by not answering the listed phone #, but the # he called from was different). First, a really rude ghetto-ass lady yelled "WHO DIS" when she picked up, and I explained what happened, and told her about the guy who was clearly some kind of manager. She yelled "I DON'T KNOW WHO DAT IS" then put me on hold. I know this game though. It was almost 5pm and they were waiting for the clock to wind down so they could disconnect me. No dice. I hung up and called again. This time she was strangely apologetic. I was on hold for another 4 minutes, and then the guy I originally spoke to got on, sounding suspicious. I asked him why he never came, and then something amazing and insane happened. He told me that he called me and left a voicemail (lie #1) because he drove out there (lie #2, I was doing work in my office by the window that faces that street. No mail truck came the entire time), and that there's NO PARCEL LOCKER AT THAT ADDRESS (HUGE MEGA LIE I CAN'T BELIEVE IT #3). I was absolutely livid. This was a manager at the post office telling me that an address under his jurisdiction doesn't have a parcel locker and that I made the problem up. I screamed at him for about 10 minutes for wasting my time, lying to me, screwing up, and wasting an entire day, not to mention holding my very expensive textbooks at bay. Finally he said he would send somebody in 20 minutes. I stood by the mailbox for around 35 minutes, and somebody finally came and unlocked the box, revealing that a package my brother had assumed was stolen a while back was in a neighbor's mailbox. Every time I order something online, I pray to god that if I'm not home, they'll kindly leave the package below my mailbox, so that I don't have to go through the hellish ordeal that is also known as paying a visit to this office. Because each package I've had to retrieve from the Bushwick location has turned into quite an experience that involves a line that actually isn't a line despite looking like one, unhelpful and impolite employees who take literally ten to fifteen minutes to find a package, and loud arguments between customers and those same incompetent employees. Additionally, the mail carriers are terrible. Mine crams as much mail into the box without regard for anything that might be in there, crushing everything and leaving the box unable to be closed. So when it starts to rain after they deliver, all of my mail gets wet and soggy. I hate wet and soggy mail. It sucks when you have to dry your mail out before you are able to open it up. Also LEAVE NOTICE WHEN YOU ARE UNABLE TO DELIVER MY PACKAGES. I have gotten notices about other people's packages (and can't tell what houses they belong to because they are so poorly written) but never my own. This post office surely met my expectations. The staff is SUPER friendly, articulate, and helpful. It's in a wonderful and safe neighborhood, too!!!!!! The management is EXTREEEMELY knowledgable about the USPS, and they answer all questions and go above an beyond to make sure you're properly served. This is literally the most incompetent service I have ever been forced to deal with. I have to call (literally) about once a week to the customer service office because they simply refuse to redeliver packages. I have never receieved a pink slip about missing a package ever. I have to constantly track it on my own. I have directed that my packages be dropped off at my door since I have a very small mailbox. I can't count how many times I have checked to see that a package was stated as delivered at my mailbox and there is nothing in my mailbox. I am also currently dealing with a package that has now been scheduled for redeliver THREE times. I am currently on my 6th case right now as I am on hold with customer service. If you have a missing package call customer service! This is the only way I have ever been able to get any of my "delivered"/rescheduled delivery packages. The number is 18002758777.
